Stopped off here for something to eat and drink after a long walk. Very pleasant staff, and good quality food - chicken wings were nice, crispy and hot, fish and chips was very good - fish tasty, crispy and moist; dips and flatbread definitely worth having; chilli udon - definitely spicy but not my favourite dish. Managed to stay over three staff shift changes.

Good place to grab something to eat. I wouldn't rate it amazing although the staff are great. Food on the other hand is average. The decor is a little tired but don't let this put you off as it is OK to eat here. The trouble is, there is a lot of competition here in Didsbury and it is not easy to stand out from the rest. Hence can only average this place and the 3 stars are super well deserved.

Great pub and lunch spot. They have a lot of different food option so they can satisfy everyone!! I throughly enjoyed the meal I had here and will definitely be coming back! The food was lovely, however, we were not really looked after. When we wanted to order some drinks we needed to “chase” the waitress, no eye contact whatsoever…I have ordered sushi and my partner ordered a hot food and it took more than 40 minutes from ordering for the food to arrive. When we asked (after chasing the waitress for a while) the answer was “the hot food takes longer than sushi”, but 4 tables which arrived after us all got hot food and their food arrived much earlier than hours. If the kitchen is busy and there are some delayes, would be great if you let people know when ordering, delay is fine when it’s communicated. I have been at The George Charles and Unagi twice now, but unfortunately I will not be returning. Pros: Delicious food Location Cons: Service Smaller portions/price

Wow For burger-Holics this is your pit stop!! Check out the Plucky Bird Burger in my photos. Taste wise this is incredible We also ordered fish n chips, salmon teriyaki & the chefs 8 piece nigiri ( sushi platter). Considering it was almost a full house the service was very efficient, friendly and super fast. We had a table booked at 6.30 and had full view of the screen to watch the football (Euro football). Burton Road has such a lovely vibe and this place has a great atmosphere I can honestly recommend for great sushi and great British classics

Overall good experience, my food was great, I had the udon which was very spicy. Was to my taste but if you can't take strong spice then may want to order something else. I am suprised to read the recent reviews on the George Charles, as a frequent visitor to the venue, I can only see nothing but happy customers. The service is always exceptional with tasty food. I am also a concierge at a local hotel and do not hesitate in recommending the Geroge Charles to the hotel guests who stay. The recent addition to the menus in the form of sushi is a great hit, I would urge you to raise any concerns with Claire and Andy as they would always listen and do their best to put things right.

Charles Veggie Burger was beautiful! 🍔 Falafel patty, onion rings, tomato salsa, burnt spring onion sour cream, lettuce, tomato, pickle and chips. The George Charles offer a wonderful selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes at reasonable prices, the atmosphere is wonderful and the staff are a delight too! Will definitely be returning here!

Great service and atmosphere. Watch out for the stairs on a wet day. Some poor sod slipped when we were there he came off totally unscathed but it made for quite the scene. Food was definitely an English take on Japanese food, kind of like a poor man's wagamama. That being said, I would definitely hang out in there again for a coffee and a couple of beers.

Always a great experience at The George Charles. Love the food, great drinks options and that was before they added a brilliant sushi restaurant to the venue. Never been disappointed by anything I've had there. If you get the sushi from Unagi, I'd highly recommend the omakase platters. Great to share and really try all the options available to you! Also can't get food there without getting the tempura prawns! The best version of that dish I've ever had. Service is always friendly and efficient!

Came here with my girlfriend who absolutely loves sushi and I've never had it before, we walked in not even knowing you guys served sushi. But as soon as we saw the menu both of us were very pleased. We got a Poke bowl each which were absolutely brilliant but then we also decided to get the spicy tuna sushi and I honestly can't see how sushi can get any better it was incredible! 100% will be returning.

Fantastic Sunday roast while visiting with my son. The lamb was amazing and tender, just how I like it, with a huge variety of vegetables, delicious roast potatoes, a massive Yorkshire pud and tons of gravy. Best roast I've had in a long time. My son got the Owen sausage which again was a huge portion and fantastic. Above all, the staff were incredibly friendly and warm, making the whole experience a pleasure. Definitely will go again when I'm back in Manchester.

The best way to describe this place would be as an "artisanal pub". Has simple modern decor, true to a pub feel, yet with a bit of a twist. Staff are very accommodating and genuinely friendly, nice chill music and last but not least - the food is so so good! Tastes like real quality ingredients are used, and there are delicious healthy options on menu as well. The gentleman at the bar made me a special vanilla iced coffee w soy, even though it wasn't on the menu - and it was great! I've been twice now and can't wait to go back again:)

I booked a meal for 22 for my 40th birthday. The staff were so helpful & let me adjust the menu to suit the group needs. Food was fantastic & I couldn't have asked for more. Everyone had such a lovely time & noted how great the staff were. A comment from on of my friends...."the best sticky toffee pudding I've ever tasted"...couldn't fault it! Definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I were out for cooked breakfast after a night out the previous evening. After trying Thyme Out which was too busy as usual we tried the George Charles, and I'm glad we did. We were able to get a seat straight away and the service was fast. I had a vegetarian breakfast and a bloody Mary and my husband had a full English. We both also got bottomless filter coffee which I thought was a great idea. The food and drinks arrived promptly and the food was very nice. I am just marking it down one star however, as none of the food was very hot, especially the poached eggs. It was fine to eat, but it would have been 5 stars if it had just been warmer! I would definitely go back again.

The bar/pub is very well situated and easy to find. Having had lunch and brunch there I felt the food was average, considering the other options nearby, but priced somewhat in the high region. The drinks range is good, if again expensive (this is Burton road however). The atmosphere is a usual bar experience, maybe a little on the cold side due to an industrial theme they have gone for. Not a bad place to go but there is better options within a few mins walk.

Visited on Saturday during some flat viewings. They are currently operating takeaway due to Tier 3, I had the pork and chilli sausage and a mulled wine and it was amazing. Much better than you'd get at the Christmas markets and a few quid cheaper too!

Hit and miss, its good for a drink but the new menu is pretty expensive for what you get. Think they're of the opinion that because it's Burton Rd they can charge £15 for a burger and it's ok.. the quality of the food isn't that good. I had some sort of bug in my burger bun which wasn't great and got a complimentary dessert rather than a refund , which was poor. Personally I think there's better options closeby but each to their own

Very strange mix of reviews for this place. Lots of overly harsh scores - e.g. a dog in a pub warranting a 2/5. I'd love to know which pubs in the Disbury/Chorlton area aren't full of dogs?! The staff were also fine (but not great) on my 2 visits. However what was good, was the food. We went as a backup to Thyme Out, and I'd say the full English here is almost as good. Not huge - but really tasty with obviously quality ingredients. Huevos rancheros were also decent. Coffee better than expected for a pub. Definitely an option if Thyme out is full or closed.
