Absolutely love the carvery meals here. Fresh and delicious. There is a meat restriction though. Whilst they offer three different types you can only have two. The gravy is to due for ! There is also not much choice wines . But the service is just great! Chocolate fudge cake is lovely

We came here for my mum's birthday on 3rd August and had a lovely visit. The staff were really welcoming, especially Lewis who served us behind the bar and Grace, our waitress, who couldn't do any more to help. We ordered a meal (I had the prawn and chorizo linguini) and was highly impressed! Lovely food and staff - would highly recommend!

Called into the Millgate with friends and family after a funeral , and what a fabulous place it is! An excellent selection of beers, lagers and cider, great friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Didn't have a meal, but from what I saw of food being served and some of the comments from people who gave dined there, we will most definitely be returning to sample the cuisine! From that visit I would certainly recommend this venue.

Daughter moved into the local area and one Sunday paid a visit. What a great pub. Polite and friendly staff, a good selection of cask ales and a decent cavery and food menu. Several visits later and still enjoying the food and beer 🍺

Brilliant service and food! Our server Leoni was lovely, I saw 4 members of staff during our visit and they all looked genuinely happy to be there. Great atmosphere and tasty food at reasonable prices. There's a play area in the back for the kids and a nice spacious beer garden. Will be returning.

Went for lunch with my two daughters and two grandsons on 30 July 2021. We were served by Tracey, Hayley and Robbie and it was top class service. Nothing was too much trouble for them, bringing us high chairs to where we wanted to sit and making sure everything was ok and we had everything we needed. We all had the lunch deal, sandwich, chips and a large drink for £9.95, great value good food. We also ordered a kids meal which was a good size portion. Really friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Can I just take a moment to compliment Jasmine at the Milgate pub, she is an absolute asset to this pub. She is always friendly and welcoming, every time we come she is always bubbly and has a smile on her face and it’s very infectious. Nothing is ever too much to ask of her, her service is fantastic, we come back because of Jasmine. You can see she loves her job and her customers she works very very hard, she never stops!!

We had our children's year 6 leavers party in the function room at the millgate. It was fantastic, the 2 lads behind the bar Louis and Lewis were amazing, didn't wait for more than a minute before being served.. Will definitely be coming back for food

Had our Wedding in the Restaurant space as our lost our original venue and needed something at short notice for a small amount of guests and we had eaten here many times. Pam the Manager really took care of us and went above and beyond to make sure things were right in spite of the pub being extremely busy on the day. The carvery was a noticable step up from normal, very fresh and tasty. Everyone who commented had nothing, but good things to say about the food.

The staff were really friendly and helpful the food let it down...the carvery looked great but we ordered the chicken with stilton and mushroom sauce it was very bland no seasoning at all it tasted like everything had been boiled the sauce was thin and didn't taste of stilton which is a strong cheese, it was disappointing the green bean accompaniment was rubbery and tasteless.I ordered brownie with ice cream, please be warned, small hard square of something with a scoop of ice cream with the centre missing? for six quid this is an insult after complaining a whole scoop came out with the comment we've given you a bit extra...didn't I actually pay for a whole scoop? The staff are the saving grace well done guys!

I struggle to find a pub that is dog friendly but the Milgate is amazing, I always come here my dog with Betty since moving to the area recently, food and carvery is amazing, the outside area is so nice the staff are always so friendly and accommodating to me and Betty. Had a little pit stop today, and as ever things were bang on, courtesy of Alex B in the kitchen (the food may have took a little longer to come out than usual but that was out of his control) and Tracey and Robbie behind the bar were on the ball from start to finish. I've always found this place to be a bit of an oddity. For me it's not a pub in the true sense. I'd be disappointed if it was my local. Having said that, the staff are usually quite friendly and efficient. And they do seem to have a good Covid strategy. I haven't eaten here in years so maybe I should give it go.

We held a party here for around 70 people. The function room is a decent size with plenty of space to lay out a good size buffet, seating and still have room for a DJ stand and dance floor. The building itself is pleasant and in good condition with high end decor and a good relaxing feel. Prices are reasonable and with the right atmosphere you're guaranteed a really good night. I would recommend this place.

Beer prices are high though 👎👎 £3.15 for a pint of Lees' lager! Carlsberg even higher and don't ask about Stella!!!!! Meals dont include a drink in any deal which is sad really! Enjoyed a family tea here today. The kids meals were lovely and there was plenty. Our meals were served on a sizzling platter and were delicious. spacious wrap around style pub. Pleasant staff, the lady who served me did her own little twist to my pink gin drink for me because they don't serve cocktails. There was an area with pool table and they serve meals. I didn't have food on my visit.There was no lights in the area which led to the toilets, I walked through the door and could not see see my hand in front of my face it was so dark. The toilet door didnt have a lock on either.

Is it the pubs fault? Obviously not, but I can't be doing with this being leapt on as soon as you walk through the door, kept away from the bar, and forced to sit at a table. Pleasant beer, but an unpleasant experience. If this is the future of drinking, pubs are dead. I can sit at home with a bottle and get a cheaper, more socially experience. To be honest, I shall be sticking to pubs that are being a bit more light hearted with the Covid restrictions.

I couldn't find anything suitable for a vegan on the menu. After speaking to the chef he asked if I liked stuff peppers or veg stir fry. I opted for the stir fry with hoisin sauce. It came out on a sizzling plate. My friend sat with envy. We're both looking forward to going back for 2 plates of sizzling stir fry veg. The bar staff were also lovely and helpful. Thank you

Belting carvery! Always loads going on, especially for the kids and there’s some party nights coming up through November and December. Great pub and recently refurbished, it has a function room, main bar, front and back outside drinking areas and big car park. Definitely worth the visit

Last visted 12/5/2019 for family tea. Food was ok. Not impressed with the service. After having main meal the desserts were placed on the table and main course dishes left ( I removed these ) as there was no room to eat. Two waiters walked round with their heads down so was difficult to catch their attention. A little Fred Sirieix etiquette would not go amiss. No matter where I take small children to eat I find myself cleaning the high chairs. Not fair when small children would not know about hygiene.

Food was nice but took an absolute age to order, due to there being only one member of staff taking all food orders and serving the drinks. This was on Sunday afternoon which I imagine is peak time. Inexplicable why other staff weren't directed to help take orders. Otherwise a decent pub.

Went for birthday tea 12/09/2917 6 30 pm quiet on arrival orderd drinks 10 mins later orderd food very limited staff available customers were queuing up . Almost 40 mins for 3 meals to arrivenwasntnt impressed one customer actualy burst through kitchen door shouting for service at bar food arrived after complaing about the wait food was good . However atmosphere was ruined by unruly children not babies but 8/9 year olds playing hide and seek and running everywhere. Don't think I'll be calling again in an evening good heavens if they can't cope with few customers at tea time Xmas is a no go for me

I had a birthday party at the Millgate on Saturday 10th June and can honestly say the staff were fantastic really couldn't do enough for you, especially Kayleigh.
