Loved my first visit to the Peer Hat. I'd been promising myself a jaunt to this place ever since I heard that, despite its not-too-obvious location in the Northern Quarter, The 'Hat' boasts decent live entertainment. Nobody was on the bill on my chosen day (well, it WAS a Sunday) but the barman (Sam) and the customers already in there made me feel very welcome. I'll definitely be calling again. By the way, great prices AND a lovely pint of Guinness!

Quirky little venue which was really cool, but the one bar staff member who "served the locals first" after I was waiting 15 mins was appalling. Another member of staff did apologise when I spoke with them about it, so offered me a drink which I accepted, went back up to the bar and the same staff member blatantly ignored me once more turning her back to me when she asked if anyone else needs serving. Again the other bar staff were quick to rectify this issue, to which I appreciate, no idea why this particular staff member was being so rude? First time in Manchester let alone this venue and it did dampen the night.

I love this place! It’s northern quarter of old, and slightly aware from the crowds. Pints, live music, graffiti everywhere, smoking area is the back alley.

My beer tasted like banana flavoured childrens calpol. Spent quite a while staring at a print of The Garden of Earthly Delights. Quite a loud alarm went off and nobody seemed fussed. 5 stars.

Great pub. If you dont know its here then you wouldnt just stumble across it. I loved it. Good beer and friendly staff. Only reason i discovered the pub is because there is 2 venues attached and owned by it. One in cellar and one in attick. Deffo be back.

Great little spot for live music however the staff were so unhappy, I know how awful customer can be but I tried my very best to be super polite and get a smile out of one of them and just felt like a huge inconvenience to their day. It's not really in fitting with the vibe of the place. Maybe it's only for regulars.

I had a great time at the Peer Hat on the Heart of Glass night. It's on every last Saturday of month downstairs. The people there were great, and the staff kept everything flowing. Also remembered my order when I couldn't... There is not a great selection of drinks downstairs, so you might want to go up to the main bar if you want some other than a bog standard drink. Overall definitely recommend and I will be going back for a friend's birthday.

Already a classic Manchester hang out. Ran by musicians and pretty much full of musicians young and old. Plays good music and hosts gigs and events. One of the only Northern Quarter haunts that feels unique.

My favourite city centre rock 'n' roll bar. Weekends usually have a great DJ and find the place chock full of Manchester's coolest kidz (aged 18-80). Probably at least half a dozen of the city's next big musical things within 10 metres of you at all times. The staff are friendly (in their own surly manner) and drinks are vast and plentiful. A must visit if you've come to Manchester for it's rock 'n' roll, 24 Hour Party People reputation.

I've lived in Manchester for over 2 years now, and had absolutely no idea this place existed until last night. Absolutely love it! Though it's by no means a 'craft' establishment (there's not a huge amount to choose from behind the bar), the atmosphere more than makes up for it. The decor reminds me of my student days in the best possible way, and there's all kinds of clientele which makes for a great mishmash of vibes. Think I've found a new local!

I adore this bar! You instantly feel at home. Very quirky with unusual decor. Good range of drinks, sometimes a live DJ playing funky tunes. Not a pop song in earshot. Glorious!

Visited this evening to watch an open mic night tribute to Joni Mitchell. It is a small informal venue with friendly staff, speedy service and reasonably priced drinks. We enjoyed our evening and would go to a gig there again!

Quirky pub which is down a back street close to Stephenson Square. There are excellent beer options and I love the hippy vibe too. There's a (tiny) music venue downstairs which is a hidden gem. We saw a couple of bands playing down there and really enjoyed our evening.

A friendly bar with good beers and a vibrant scene of it's own, bringing diverse distractions and music, live and from DJs from the Manchester underground, and internationally. Events are cheap and often free, yet offer a quality to rival anything you may see in the more well known venues, in intimate surroundings.

I felt like I entered another world in which I did not belong here.. drink selection is ok. Was clean, toilets especially. It has an upstairs bar which is quite small. Then there's a downstairs bit that seems to have things on.. there was a man shouting poetry when we went once. It appears to attract a particular crowd.. like an elitist hipster group. I'd go again if I was wrecked or to share the experience with someone who hadn't been but that's about it.

A quirky pub with character, serving craft beers in bottles or on tap, with an oddment of decorations and nik naks. Walls are festooned with clientele artwork. I go to Life Drawing on a Thursday upstairs in Studio Bee and if you mutter the importal words "Life Drawing Discount" you can save 20% on a drink. Whitwoo! Downstairs (for which I have not ventured) seems live bands perform and a friend of mine runs a Smiths/Morrissey DJ set once a month. All in all its a nice pub, not in the super pub league but well worth a visit. Situated just off Stevenson Square.

Opened mid-2017. Bare boarded place with three distinct rooms all decorated in bright colours. Wall space is used to celebrate local artist talent, there is also a space where art and books can be purchased. Four cask ales usually on sale. Off the beaten track but well worth a look.

The building is on top of an old graveyard. There are ghosts in the basement. I have seen faces in the walls and moving apparitions. One the owners had the place exorcised, but it has not worked.
