Amazing meal here. The all day breakfast calzone was incredible. Tasted really fresh with the red onion and tomatoes and presented superbly. The beer battered mushrooms, I could eat all day. The app is relatively easy to use (a bit laggy). My only complaints, starters arriving with the main and having to ask for cutlery. Will I be back... tomorrow to try the carvery. If it matches the quality of today, I'll be e extremely happy.

Stopped by for a carvery this afternoon. Staff were attentive and polite. Food was hot and fresh and the carvery meat was lovely, special thanks to the young man that took care of it today. He was kind and didn’t make us feel rushed. Will definitely be back in the future!!

Food is delicious, well priced and perfectly set up for a dinner where you can have a conversation. A side note I would definitely recommend the fresh pizza. It was crispy, light and full of flavour. Was also nice to see the chef checking if all is well along with the front of house staff.

The food is lovely, the only issue is with the meat portion, which is getting smaller and smaller with every visit, one slice of gammon half of which was the fatty rind, and the beef slice was approx. the size of a kitkat, when i have more time, i do go to a different carvery (toby) for this exact reason, but as i live round the corner from the red lion convinience sometimes wins

Just been with a party of 10 for Christmas Lunch. Couldn't fault it in any way. Food was great, the lady who served us was friendly, and attentive and not a single slip with everyone's pre-booked menu choices. I stopped by here for lunch yesterday and was astounded by how quickly I was in and out! The service was rapid in all aspects! Within 5 minutes I was served, sat down and eating! Fantastic! The guy who sat me down was super friendly, Becky at the bar was a pleasure and the man carving my meat was so helpful. Stopped by on a random trip, whilst waiting for my train connection. What a place! All I wanted was a pint but convinced myself to have a carvery which was fantastic. Went in for breakfast. Very average and over priced at ~£8. Buffet style breakfast. Eggs are kept under a heat lamp for so long, they were dried out. The waiter asked if I wanted mushrooms when ordering my breakfast but failed to tell me it was an optional extra on the menu and itemised separately from the rest of the buffet.

There was a macmillan coffee morning on too which all the staff had donated cakes to for customers to enjoy in exchange for a donation. They even offered takeaway bags to take extra cake home. Nicely updated since Stonehouse took over. The food arrives quickly and hot and you have access to the salad bar and veg/accompaniments of the carvery section with your main meal if you want. I love the new pizzas, the hoisin duck one is amazing! Also the brie wedges with cranberry dip are a must try! Monday to Saturday you can also get desserts for £1.75 when ordered at the same time as your main and they allowed me to change the sauce I wanted on the waffle. JAN is a lovely waitress who was very polite with all customers, always had a smile and chatted with customers. However, the lady with dark hair behind the bar needs to crack a smile and work on her customer service. Thanks to Jan I've still left 5 stars but if we had only dealt with the dark haired lady I would have put it down to 3! Will visit again.

Lovely friendly staff, thank you to Ryan who looked after us during a recent visit. We arrived for a carvery on a Sunday evening and it didn't disappoint. We went for the standard option (could also have gone large or for the works! Not sure anyone really needs to go for either of these options as the standard is more than enough. Good range of veg, the potatoes and cauliflower cheese did not look appealing but tasted fantastic. The only thing I felt was a disappointment was the Yorkshire's I don't think they were home made tasted like a shop bought one, I appreciate that there are a lot of covers to do but I'm sure a homemade yorkshire is not difficult. Clean, lots of space and friendly staff. Thank you for a lovely meal, if I am ever back this way I would pop in again.

Had an early lunch there. Staff are friendly. They told me the order procedure and special arrangement under the pandemic politely. I had a small carvery. The cauliflower is overcooked so too tender. The jamon is a bit too hard. The grilled potato, spring onion and Yorkshire pudding are all good. You may also choose carrots, mashed potato and tomato beans but I haven‘t tried. Overall speaking I enjoyed having lunch there. Relaxing

I visit this pub quite often (usually for the carvery - great food for such an amazing price!). Whenever I have visited, staff and locals have both been exceedingly friendly. The building itself is always clean and well presented and the food is well cooked and good quality. Sometimes, certain seating areas are closed off, which is a bit of a shame, but doe not detract from the atmosphere at all. Highly recommended if ever you need an easy meal or a good spot for a pint. My husband and I recently went to the newly refurbished red lion. We had breakfast on the Sunday, I have to say was very enjoyable tasty and priced very reasonable.bonus was refillable drinks very good. The following Sunday having had a busy day decided to go for Sunday roast, have to say was not expecting it to be as good as it was, very tasty and hot, will definitely be going back. I went for a carvery a couple of weeks back with my partner and baby, the food was lovely. The staff were friendly and they were lovely to my baby which is a big plus because some places see bringing a baby as a massive inconvenience, but they are a family friendly place. Price is okay. Not a problem obviously but I really think they need to do the place up inside it's dark and just needs a new lease of life but as I said it's not a problem just my opinion. Defiently eat here!

The food on the other hand is awful, we had the breakfast and the hash browns were.not cooked fully, the sausage was the cheapest type possible and it tasted like it, eggs were like rubber from sitting under the heating lamp too long. Chicken burger and Brad said no lettuce no tomato and no mayo on his and his request was met ( he said it was rrally nice ) I ordered Hoisen Duck skinny pizza and that was lovely. Visited the Red Lion around 5PM on a Sunday, which a pre-booked table for two. We had a few issues finding the place due to Google Maps taking us completely the wrong way (unsure if the business location is set wrong on their business profile). There's ample car parking spaces on site with no parking cameras so there's no need to register license plates unlike some of the other Stonehouse Restaurants. We were seated and shown to our table within 5 minutes of stepping through the door, the host was friendly and run down the establishments ways or working due to COVID which we're pretty used to by now. Placed the order at the bar which was a seamless process and went for the 3 Deal on Starters, and a Full Works Carvery. For the carvery, you have to wait until the waiters tell you to go up due to social distancing measures. A few of the downsides, our table was located right next to the toilets which considering COVID felt a little too uneasy due to the amount of people basically walking past within a hands length. I'd definitely say the restaurant is more geared to families, as there was kids just running/messing about with no care from families/staff. In terms of the carvery, the only part that really had any taste was the roast potatoes, everything else seemed quite bland. The main reason for the rating is simply: place seemed like a children's play area, bland food, a tyre damaging pothole on the entrance/exit to the car park (unsure whether the restaurant is responsible for that) & it's looking worn down inside with vents loose and paintwork damaged or falling apart.

As far as going out for a family meal this place is okay, but when I have gone in the past I have found the service to be slow, the food to be dry and bland and the atmosphere to be sometimes flat and other times a bit boisterous. Overall it is nice enough but not the best place around.

The pub itself was like most chain pubs and the carvery I had was ok but let down by the fact that the roast potatoes had been under the heat lamp for far too long and had become very hard and dry, unfortunately for me this is one of the most important aspects of a carvery and leaves a lasting impression that spoils what would have been a very enjoyable meal and possibly somewhere I would have visited again.

Don't Bother - Just been to this dump and lost my ticket for the carvery for my daughter and myself.
