Good value and service. Great tasting food very reasonable priced

I really love this place. It looks very overcrowded by the great big buildings that surround it. But it is a little historic gem. We visited twice, once for a drink. Next time for one of the lovely meals. The staff are brilliant, cleaning withing seconds of somebody leaving and chatting to customers. I was particularly enthralled with all of the original features and took loads of pictures. Food top notch. Atmosphere fantastic and welcoming. It is on our list for another visit 😊

Absolutely Superb. Very reasonable prices indeed given that it has an absolutely prime location. If you want cheaper prices go to a run down areas pub - they dont have the understandably huge overheads of The excellently run Shakespeare. The Restaurant Food is absolutely superb. And the price of just £7-50 ( 2 at £15) for such succulent, quality combined with the very good and friendly service is Second to.none. - Quality well kept hand pump and other beers - with choices for the knowledgable ale drinker. Management top rank. Corteous, polite, discrete and has excellent empathy with the myriad of characters and demographics who use pubs. And what a superb ambience this generates. If you are looking for a "Proper" pub- look no further....it is THE Best I have ever experienced in recent years- and by a Country Mile.

An old style Manchester pub made up to date with TV, juke box and gaming machine. Real ale sold, currently has Shakespeare Cask ale @ 3.8 abv (I think). Nice taste and currently £4.50 a pint. Staff friendly, contactless payments was down on my visit, cash only, which reduced the custom I suspect.

Not been in this place for over 20years. Called in on a rare trip to Manchester. It's still got it's charm, being a very old pub, with a lot of its original features still in place. Was a bit disappointed on seeing only a few customers inside considering time of day. Bar prices slightly on the high side.

Visited Thursday afternoon (28/10/21) ordered lunch for 5 of us same table but 3 paying separate,first order came out with extra sandwich which was not ordered, bar person young girl dark hair was very abrupt,about extra sandwich being our fault when she fetched chips she litterally threw them on table,second order she sent other bar person (which we think was new to job/bar she was very nice)then third order new (we think) bar person fetched it,with extra toastie,which we didn't order. She just took back no problem, we then thought we had been over charged as 2 extra meals fetched then shall we say grumpy bar person fetched a refund for 1 toastie n chips. She had calmed down by this point but other customers had noticed the rudeness and spoke to us about her. But food was nice and we had a great afternoon drinking also.

One of the oldest pubs in Manchester city centre, and still doing very well Good beer and polite pleasant staff is good to see nowadays, whilst so many bars want to pack you in and serve you bad beer. I first visited the Shakespeare in 1985, and to its credit it's kept its charm. Here's to many more years to come.

Been a few times to The Shakespeare. It's a Great pub, great staff and a good selection of drinks. The atmosphere is always lively. My only issue is it's too old fashion for me. I can see why its fantastic for people who like that style for its got that very classic pub feel to it but sadly it's not my favourite place to drink at. Still recommend it though and I'll still be going there in future. 🙂

Just about OK pub for a quick pint. Been a few times, but only because it's handily located in the town centre. Looks interesting and "period" from outside but it's nothing special inside. Visited after an England football match and the toilets were swimming! It felt safe enough and the beer was fine, although most of the rather odd clientele had clearly been celebrating too much. Two doormen were keeping any unsavoury types out.

A good old classic of timber framed pub, hiding round the back of Primark! This lovely old classic has a good range of cask ales, alongside the usual range of lagers, shorts, soft drinks, etc. The place is friendly, not too noisy, and a great place to find between shopping bouts.

Did you know this pub is affectionately know as the Primani Arms? Why? Visit on a Saturday afternoon when its full of blokes waiting for wives and girlfriends to come across the street armed with Primark bags! Plastic containers on Saturday when the match is on. John Smith's, £3.30.

I went on a wet Monday night for the ghost hunting event run by Flecky Bennett...the pub was far from busy but the locals and the barman were pleasant, the interior nice and clean....(very impressed with the gents lavvies) and the Stella was good, though disappointingly the bitter was turned off at the pumps for some reason.
