Drinks are much cheaper than anything else in the area and so this place is a draw to a certain type of customer. Staff are very friendly but they tend to play the music at a level which inhibits talking which is a bit weird because it's just about the only reason to go there.

I have been in this pub many times over the years, always found the people and bar staff to be friendly and real. If you like 80s soul/ funk with a bit of Nothern Soul thrown in try it on a Sunday evening. I guarantee if you are a free spirit you will have a ball. Too D J who knows all the tunes.

One of the few proper drinkers pubs in the city centre. Pretty cheap. Good staff. Colourful regulars. Don't be surprised if if any of them try to sell you cheese or razor blades.

Superb, great pint of draught bass - not easy to find these days Plus amazing untouched interior from 20s/30s. Forget the trendy N quarter shyte just over the road - this is a proper pub.

First time I visited there was an old woman and a young girl throwing glass bottles at each other just outside. Thankfully didn't put me off and I was not disappointed. Would recommend a visit, I love old pubs like this

A great " local pub " serving a wide variety of lagers and cask ales, spirits and wine at resonable prices. There is entertainment late afternoon from live acts , karaoke and quiz nights. There's a beer garden at the rear of the property to escape the city centre chaos.

My watch has a quite reliable stress meter. At Primark, close by, it peaked. At The Unicorn, an hour and two pints later, it had its all time low. An old fashion low key pub and its regulars + inexpensive drinks made wonders.

Update (Nov 2019). I visited twice in last two weeks: 1st time during a Saturday afternoon when only one real ale available. 10 days later on Tuesday afternoon there were No real ales, hence removing one star! However, I have visited on numerous occasions over the years. A traditional pub with generally 3 real ales available on hand pump. One of the few places in Manchester that normally sells Bass on draught! Décor is classic with a slightly unusual bar design but is pleasant. The men's toilets have been updated- I guess in the last year as I am not a regular but they have done a good job. Prices are reasonable compared with a lot of the overpriced Northern quarter bars nearby, so not noticed any hipsters present on my visits. A bus stop is just outside so also brilliant for a night cap. Well worth a visit if they start selling real ales again, as in hand pump bitter!

Lovely pub in Manchester City Centre. Plenty of drink choices and prices are reasonable. It gets really busy during peak hours. It's close to Afflecks Palace, a short walk from Piccadilly Gardens and the Arndale Centre. I didn't notice a food menu but there are plenty of eating places nearby.

Fabulous cosy locals boozer. Old fashioned and a really homely place. Amazing that it holds it's character right in the middle of the city centre where nearly every pub and bar seems to follow the same formula. Try it!!!!

There is something about a pub which is open before noon that attracts a certain kind of person. (On this occasion, that person was me, long story). Pint of Carling £3, which wasnt too bad. Interesting locals, a few old boys with their papers, a few workers on an early lunch, a lady filling the bandit whilst swigging what looked to be a pint of vodka and coke. I enjoyed it though, it was interesting.
