What's a lovely place. The atmosphere was great and the beer was spot on. The barman was an absolute pleasure. He even went above and beyond helping me out with my work do's challenge even though he was very busy. That's what makes the difference in these places is the people at the front doing a great job, being polite, positive, helpful and putting the customer 1st. Well done and I totally will be going back and totally recommend this place to anyone 💚

Had the smoothed chicken. Tasty and a decent size portion and very good price. I gave it 4 stars, because when I walked in and sat at the first table it was dirty (spilled drinks probably of previous guests) and when I moved in another it was the same and I had to walk at the bar to grab some napkins to dry the table top. To be honest I saw a staff member cleaning/disinfecting a table a bit later, so maybe they haven't noticed the two tables I was.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Service was slower when matches are televised and no hurry to inform customers that there would be any delays.. Waited over 20 minutes for a meal and went back to the bar to ask where my meal was only then to be told that they were busy with food orders and there would be a further delay. Waited at least another 10 minutes. But I would add that it's a decent place and we were catered for well on the 2 visits we made.

Went for one drink, it was fairly quiet. Tables were oddly arranged which seemed to create less seating than there could have been. Toilets were down a very steep staircase, so good luck if you've had a session.

Typical Saturday watching FA Cup final, place was full inside and out and queue at the bar was a nightmare. Atmosphere was amazing though! Great location at the bottom of the hill, just before the Quayside with great view of the hustle and bustle of a vibrant city. Ordered some food which was standard pub fare, tacos, chicken wings and chicken wrap to help soak up the drink. Well rounded sunny afternoon in a very popular pub with great company. Nightmare being at the bar behind a guy getting 25 pints!

Really friendly staff, reasonable prices. Tables were sticky and food was horrible and spicy. I ordered the chicken and spinach pizza and they majorly over did it with the spring onions. Forced myself to eat half of it as was starving, server asked if it was OK and I told him it was too spicy. He shrugged his shoulders and apologised. No offer of remake or partial refund, nothing.

it’s an ok place and affordable but there’s plenty of issues with it. i came in and hadn’t visited before. i assume the guy behind the bar wasn’t experienced, not even a hello. we asked whether we were supposed to be seated or find a table ourselves and he just asked for our ID’s but we weren’t drinking. we each had a pizza and those were great and well priced! it also seems as though they can’t decide whether they want to be a fancy restaurant or a wetherspoons

Long time since I was last in here, somewhere I had been on an evening but not during the day. Very nice experience, great selection of craft and real ales. The other half said the wine was very nice so all good there then. Beer was kept very well and was in great condition whats not to like. Very helpful staff great beer, lovely food as we stayed for some lunch and found the lunch time specials a great bargain. Call in and enjoy a beer and some food I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Had breakfast in here a few weeks back, we got a Full English which was nice, ok size portion although no butter on my toast nor did we have salt or pepper! My wife had some sort of breakfast toastie which she said was lovely! What i will say is that the menus were disgusting, they looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a good while! The tea we got was very nice too, staff were friendly and it had a good atmosphere!

Easily the best spot on the Quayside to watch sport Staff were very attentive, and served drinks to our table during tonight’s CL game. Cask ales were spot on, reasonably priced, and those that had pizza raved about the food Cheers, and can’t wait for our next visit!

We came here for bottomless brunch. Andy and the team were amazing, the food service was quick and the quality excellent, the drinks available exceeded our expectations and the attentiveness to our table was incredible. All of the staff could not look after us anymore if they tried! Fantastic experience and would highly recommend the bottomless brunch to anybody.

Hi Andy.Its not the 1st time we have been in the Bar on our visits to Newcastle(From Musselburgh) & to be fair we have always enjoyed the experience.We arrived just after 8pm on 13/11/21 & sat under the tv bottom right hand corner as you come in the front doir( next to fire exit).Ryan was 1 of the Bar Staff & to be fair he was doing his best as there was a lot of irate customers in the Bar.

Akenside Traders is just like home. I have been there several times, and I will definitely go again. The prices are good. You can order via the app and/or staff. Sometimes, you may get disappointed if you do not book in advance, and it is actually a sign of how popular they are.

As you enter the Akenside Traders you'll immediately take notice that this is indeed no ordinary establishment. As one sups upon the ambrosia like libations of Fosters, Brown Ale and many many tequila shots one is entranced by the pleasant rhapsody of atmosphere that engulfs this quant quayside locale and is taken a back by the affable, gregarious and congenial nature of the authentically local sourced hirelings who encapsulated ones experience by making this fellows time in their establishment naught but elegant, well met and a boon to one's already pleasurable experience. I award this fine taphouse 5 stars and would advise many of my cohorts and bedfellows to pop in to enjoy everything I have evidenced upon this review.

Visited the Akenside for Saturday football. Great atmosphere, clean and welcoming bar with efficient, friendly staff . A good selection of quality gins at reasonable prices which made my day! I didn't eat but checked out the menu and saw the food being served. It looked very tasty and people seemed to be enjoying it. Good quality at sensible priced tapas I'll be having lunch the next time I visit. Thanks to everyone for a lovely afternoon especially Kevan the bar manager who was hospitable, welcoming, friendly and professional. See you all soon x

The food is delicious and very reasonably priced, add on top of that the deals they have, such as 10 chicken wings for £3, and you have an amazing pub.

First real stop for stag night, food and beer. We all had pizzas which were priced well for size and quality. Some great craft beer & real ale, place was well decorated and staff were on form. Red head behind bar was quite rude. I'm assuming he was manager for the way he went on and conducted himself. Bar staff did not know the difference between gin liquor or gin spirits. Bar was clean and tidy so I'm giving it a 3 star rating for this reason only

Enjoyed the food burgers were good, cooked well, no onion rings received which should have been included as the burger was 'go large' would have stayed for another drink however the alarm kept going off which was extremely loud staff were friendly and whilst onion rings were forgotten the lady serving us did offer to bring some out however the meal was over at that point so 50p off the next drink would have been appreciated however not offered this was laughed off, unfortunately not a fantastic experience. Won't be returning however seemed to have plenty of TV screens for sports fans so don't let the loud alarm put you off.
