A perfect bar with a stunning interior. Loved the chairs felt rather like a throne haha. Ale suits my life Semi organised Chaos lol. Loved the crisps. Staff, friendly, polite, knowledgeable and friendly. Very clean. Toilets very smart although I did worry I had turned into a vampire lol. Highly recommended. Felt very safe and relaxed. Everyone was so polite and well mannered. Close to bus stops as well.

Has always been one if my favourite Newcastle pubs, even when it was two rooms back in the day. Really spacious pub with a range of fantastic beers. Slightly off the beaten track (slightly) meaning it doesn't get massively busy (at the moment anyway). Well worth a visit.

Great beer. Good bar normally. Quite quiet in there today. Took England v West Indies test match off which I and others were watching England hitting out to set up a 5th day declaration. Instead barman put on an FA Cup game with zero local interest in it. Man City went onto win 4 nil. A few people complained. Nobody was watching the football. 15/20 people left the bar soon after. Great move. I could understand it if say Newcastle was playing. We finished our drinks and left as we are not interested in watching Man City and the loud TV makes conversation hard

Nice place with a reasonable selection of beer on tap. Plenty of space inside but you'll find it gets pretty busy especially on weekends. Judged on its own merit, it's a place with visiting, however there are a lot of great venues around it that offer a wide selection of food and beer. Has wheelchair accessible entrance but watch for the cobbles outside.

Great pub make no mistake. Gets very busy especially at peak times and definitely when the theatre is in full swing. Has a big real ale following which never interests me no matter where it's served, though the beer in general I've always found to be spot on. As ever, city central prices are astronomical across the board and getting worse. Good location opposite a good curry house by chance too. Not a hipster crowd by any means but worth a look in if you're on a session.

What can you say about the Bacchus. Still one of the best bars in Newcastle with a tremendous selection of beers. Cocktails availble for those that want them. What really sets this place apart is the mix of folk who drink here. From students to OAPs. From rockers to ravers and everyone in between. Never a strong word and always a warm welcome. After drinking here for over 20 years it is still the best.

Another fine SJF pub in Newcastle. There's normally a decent cask and keg beer menu, usually, with Jarl from Fyne Ales, and there's a nice nautical theme. On a Friday/Saturday evening, it tends to attract a middle-aged crowd. This is not meant as a criticism, more an observation.
