We love bar Loco, best bar in the Toon centre by far. Cosy friendly atmosphere, very canny staff. Great for just popping in for a quick one whilst in town or for a night out. Fabulous for private parties. Great outside space.

Awesome, quirky bar, with a great selection of beer and spirits! Very reasonably priced, such as two cocktails for £10, I had an espresso martini which was very tasty. The sort of place you could go for a cozy drink or a more lively session. I noticed they offered food, including a good variety of vegan options. Staff very friendly!

Great place for drinks but also for a meal. They serve food until 11pm and I especially recommend their pizzas! Appetizers are also good, big portions and reasonable price. They also have interesting events every now and then. And if you want to practice Spanish, there's a language exchange every Monday.

The is an excellent, quirky little bar with fabulous food and great atmosphere. I went with a small group of friends for lunch on black eye Friday and there was no need to book a table but the place still had a good number of people. We all ordered a pizza which is a great experience in itself. All pizzas are bespoke with your choice of numerous, reasonably priced toppings. And the starter cheese is mozzarella, a must for good pizza. The thin crust is delicious and easily sturdy enough for your toppings. The sauce is pleasantly acidic which, in my opinion, is far superior to a sweet sauce. The menu includes additional good options like pasta and nachos which I look forward to trying. Drinks here are not easy to chose from as they do excellent cocktails and have a good, though not expansive selection of beers. Wine by the glass or bottle is easy on the wallet and palate with a surprisingly nice house white. (We didn't try the red, though I bet it is equally nice.) On top of all of that, the staff were lovely, friendly, and quite helpful. I will be back, often!

Awesome little place outside of the main hustle and bustle of the city. Really earthy vibe with just as cool and worldly members of staff. Live music has made a home here and it is great for a walk in beer. Good selection of beers and spirits all at a reasonable price. Visited for the Literary Salon. Bar Loco is bigger than you think; it has a bar, gallery and several upstairs space, so if you're visiting for the first time you may want to check out the signs just inside the front door to figure out which room you need to head for! I had pizza and a pint of real ale. The ale was well kept. The pizza was great; they adopt a 'make your own' approach in which you have a margherita base, then specify what you want on top. It was great - very fresh and tasty. Recommended.

One of the very best places you're likely to come across if you are laid back, vibrant and open to new people and ideas. Really friendly but honest service, if someone is being rude to other customers the staff there will let them know to knock it off or go somewhere else. This place is all about inclusion. So if you're after silver service this place may ruffle your feathers. It can get busy and service can get sharp at times but the staff there are encouraged to be human beings and not robots. Bar Loco can be like a second home and a bit like 'Cheers', where every body knows your name. Regularly promotes local artists featuring their work on the walls as well as having a bespoke gallery space on the top floor out of three. Great food, reasonable prices and in addition to that I've seen great live acts, variety shows, dj's, comedy nights, cinematic events, burlesque, bands of all types.... The list goes on. Need to hire some space, Bar Loco is very accommodating. I've seen birthdays to thanksgiving to casting calls to wedding receptions. All in all an epic venue.

Off beat clientele but very interesting. Good ale and many doing 'shots' everywhere in premises. Also had lovely Penne, meatballs and spicy tomato sauce for £6.50. Was described as a large portion but could have been more; still very nice! PS Good cook/chef who wished me Bon Appetite and brought me some olive oil to moisten the dish.

I can't say enough great things about this venue. Being new to Newcastle, it has quickly become my second home. The staff are friendly, intelligent, diverse, courteous, and diligent. On quiet days, I have been able to come here to read, work, view art, have a coffee or good drink. At night, you can party, socialize with an awesome clientele, dance, and listen to poetry and live music. What else can one ask for. Bar Loco definitely stands out as one of the best venues in town!

I really like this bar but unfortunately on Friday i was very let down by the service. I ordered nachos and a pizza and only the pizza arrived. I went to check with the bar staff who told me "it's not ready" without even checking despite many other customers food being delivered. I've never been treated rudely whilst trying to politely inform an establishment of a problem. Kinda saddening for such a nice place

The target audience is not poor, the interior is alternative, the crew are hippies and the guests, if possible, even more. That being said, the Open Mic Nights are cozy, and the atmosphere is certainly pleasant. A tip for the owners: maybe brainstorm that guitar. (Original) Het drinken is niet zo goedkoop, en je waant je in Karl Marx z'n droom. Het doelpubliek is niet arm, het interieur is alternatief, de crew zijn hippies en de gasten zo mogelijk nog meer. Dat gezegd zijnde, de Open Mic Nights zijn gezellig, en de sfeer is zeker aangenaam. Een tip voor de eigenaars: misschien die gitaar eens hersnaren.
