Great little pub, smells amazing due to the warmed up apple pie moonshine. Watch out the moonshine is a bit strong, but is £7 a jar. Quirky decor, have a visit.

What a hidden gem! I'd never even heard of this place before until a friend suggested it. Such friendly staff and good music. Covid rules all in place - so safe for those concerned over social distancing. A lovely atmosphere and a really nice place to drink.

Great atmosphere and live band. My friend and I have both been tested positive for covid. Track and trace doesn't appear to work. We where both there 3.7.21. We where sat away from others in front row so at least 2 meters apart from others.

The single doorway with neon sign "Bourbon and blues" meant we nearly missed Billy bootleggers. The band were great more rock n roll than blues and my brother and I must have been the only people not drinking pint size cocktails which resulted in some very free spirited dancing we loved it

Always loved this bar and went to for possibly the last time on last Saturday. Still the same great atmosphere and amazing music that kept me coming back. Was sadly disappointed with the apparent disregard for social distancing within the venue and the prevalence of people wandering around without wearing masks. Would have stayed longer but felt very uncomfortable with how close people were getting to me. Hope they can get people back under control so we can all get through this asap.

Quirky little dive bar atmosphere, offers a range of cocktails with their own twists, especially the long islands with a wide array of changes to suit everyone. Live music is well balanced sound-wise and caters to a wide variety of people, more specially those rockabilly inclined, but enjoyable none the less. Large selection of spirits although the draught is a little lacking. Billy's moonshine is a must try, although just a cocktail, it still delivers a satisfying punch.

Entered down a set of stairs listening to the music and wondering what we would find. Well we found a nice bar with very friendly people and staff and a great atmosphere where we could listen to live music and listen to some banter, fantastic time and a real mixture of customers. Great little basement bar with a good vibe. Probably a good place for live music though didn't get to experience any, just a disco. Played a good variety of tunes. Something for everyone. The beer was OK. Goose IPA, which is not bad.

Compact bar. Great for whiskey /bourbon lovers. Live music on when we were there. Was rammed with people, a few too many for us as no seats left! The band were good. Certainly now on the list of pubs to return too next time we are in Newcastle. Quirky.

A hidden gem, tucked away under Grainger market! Went to see some live music on a Sunday afternoon & couldn't have been to a better place! Music was amazing, as was the atmosphere & staff! Moonshine was soo tasty, a must visit!

Unique little bar. Blink and you will miss it. Unfortunately the draft lager was off but they did have a small selection of bottled lagers. Other sore point was no toilet roll in the ladies 🙈. Reason for 3 stars! Tried the famous apple pie Jar. Very sweet and 'Strong'. Nice atmosphere in the bar, coupled by the distinctive voice of local singer Jonny Boyle. Throughly enjoyed his music and crowd pleasing. Staff friendly and assistive. Will come again with tissues ;)

Great place under Grainger Market with bourbon and blues. I love that this place is suitable for everybody that likes blues and having a fun! Very different from the usual bar/club venue in Newcastle and quite honestly a great addition to the city.

As always had a enjoyable time in the cellar bar.Billy Bootleggers is one of my favourite bars in Newcastle with an unique atmosphere especially when one of the many bands or artists are playing. Saying that it's great when the DJ playing too so there's always something going on in this jewel of Tyneside bar.

A really nice lil bar tucked away under a William hill A lil small so finding a sit on a busy night would be quite difficult after saying that i enjoy a sweet hot moonshine drink which I won't forget i very much enjoyed it and the music was good too I'd recommend this place if anyone is around new castle who enjoys live music and a good drink

Cool and funky place, but a little bit small and if a popular well liked band is playing. The place dose get rather cramped, so of you want a seat get there early. Then hope nobody steals it, if you head to the bar or bathroom.
