Reviews of Crows Nest
p. c.
My husband and I had our lunch here. It was delicious. We ordered a salt beef burger. The burgers were big and filled with a generous beef patty with salt beef piled high on top of the burger. Each burger came with little gem lettuce tomatoes red onion and gurkin and the dressing was mustard and mayo. The fries flavoured with rosemary and salt. The tastiest fries I have eaten in a long time. Well worth the 12.29 each.
The staff were friendly and welcoming.
I would gladly go again.

This place is da bomb. Friendly food and very tasty staff. It was very busy yesterday night. We went back for burgers. Food came within 15 mins. The food did not let us down. Juicy and consistent. Top marks chef. I had a lovely real ale. Jenny had rum. She just loves rum. Time flies when you're having rum. And absinthe makes the heart grow fonder, apparently, although not in my experience. The staff are very attentive but not overbearing. No robots here. Nice little quirky fella made me feel respected and just that little less desolate for a short time. And that's what it's all about isn't it. Those golden little moments away from the shame and scandal, the gloomy humiliation of a life not even half lived. Jenny likes puffins. Big fat puffins. Not to eat mind you. Just to look at. She has dreams of petting one and perhaps training one, a male one, Mike she'd call it, to do a Crufts style assault course. Me and Jenny are gonna pop back into the Crows on Tuesday and meet some friends. A real local in town.

Love this pub I often come in when I've had a day shopping in Newcastle. The drinks selection is really good and the place has a lovely atmosphere. Last time I visited Georgia behind the bar gave me some great advice on which gin to drink. Very helpful staff.
M. C.
Lovely bar, with great & friendly staff & management. Nice pint at a cannie price.
They have TV's to watch all sports & okay music in the back ground.
The Crow's is in the heart of the city, about 5 minutes walking distance from St. James Park.
Once again nice atmosphere & a lovely place to visit.

Thank you from the 20 minute society at Newcastle University for letting us participate in your pub quiz. Our members loved it and we are hoping to come back for the next one! Great service, atmosphere and food! Thank you to Shannon for recommending it and having a clean neck. We hope to see you soon!
M. M.
Great place, great food! Staff were very attentive especially one of them called Bridie who was very quick to respond to any queries such as when we accidentally overcharged by another member of staff. Rare to see someone so polite and hard working at their job these days. Will be returning!
H. W.
Crows nest did not disappoint! Delicious food, lovely atmosphere and first class service all around!! All staff members were so friendly and welcoming, this one lovely waitress in particular called Georgia, who was so efficient and friendly! 5/5 for me. Will definitely becoming back here :)
N. F.
Had a great night in this establishment.
Lots of different beers and lagers and the staff are friendly and attentive- in particular a young wench that goes by the name of Bridie. She went above and beyond to ensure that my friends and I had an enjoyable experience.
s. l.
Great place with a good atmosphere. Drinks were bob on and service was second to none. The young lady, Bridie, was very attentive, couldn’t do enough and had a really delightful sense of humour. Will definitely return.
J. T.
Very nice a couple of pints of a beer called Wagtail and a steak pie with some gravy, garden peas and chips was very pleasant. Nice friendly staff and not too expensive either. Altogether a very enjoyable visit.
S. G.
Great pub, central location, accommodating for all and lovely food, the best pub to watch football and sport
K. F.
Great pub, really enjoyed the traditional ciders which aren’t easy to find in locals! Really cosy too, nice atmosphere with great music
G. N.
Good selection of beer and cider, and not too busy on a weekday evening after work, with friendly service.
M. G.
Recently visited for a couple of drinks, quick service and friendly staff, great service from Beth. Great atmosphere when the Toon are playing at home! Look forward to visiting again soon.
N. H.
I had the Big Fish and chips, and the white chocolate cheesecake. The fish as chips was amazing as always, it does tend to run out by about 5pm, so make sure to get in there early!
The pub has a lovely English/Northern atmosphere and the staff are lovely. There is a 10% student and NHS discount too!
D. H.
A little gem of a bar in a central location. Wide selection of drinks all reasonably priced. Food typical of a Green King establishment, but the staff make it feel more than a chain with their friendly and personal approach. Unlike St James’ Park, a Newcastle location not to be missed.
G. G.
Lovely pub. Excellent, helpful and friendly staff. Very reasonable prices.
I accidentally gave this place 3 stars initially due to Google maps popping up whilst I was writing a text! I was mortified when I realised but have finally worked out how to amend... Sorry Crows Nest!
p. S.
Went for food and drinks with friends, atmosphere was excellent, as was the service by the friendly staff that work there, food was top notch and didn’t have to wait that long even though they were quite busy. Easily recommend this place for a drink and/or food if you are out in Newcastle.
O. C.
Crows Nest has an incredibly friendly and warm atmosphere. It serves a splendid array of draft lagers and ales and all of the staff were very helpful, especially Georgia who went above and beyond to ensure that all our needs were met. I would definitely recommend this pub to a friend due to its great location right in the heart of Newcastle
E. S.
Great food and drinks. Excellent service from Bridie, she was friendly and entertaining and made our evening enjoyable. She’s an asset to your team.
C. D.
Had a great time at the crows nest very large selection of ales and even sour beers the lovely young waitress bridie talked me through each one and made it very easy for me to decide on just what I wanted will be returning regularly and recommending to friends great pub!
R. M. (.
Great night out with family.
Compliments to bar staff, and the guy behind the bar, (not sure if he was bar staff or manager) who chased us to the bus stop with a key he thought we had dropped.
Don't get much of that service any more these days.
Thanks for a brilliant afternoon/ night.
15/10☆.
P. R.
What a cracking pub, great selection of drinks including cask ales.
The menu is varied and very well cooked and presented.
Staff very polite and helpful.
This was our first visit but won't be the last.
J. W.
Amazing bar staff! Think her name was Georgia if I remember correctly. Fantastic knowledge of beers and spirits, kept us drinking all night!!!!!!
J. N.
Well this bar is great. First off the toilets are great. Nice and clean. The bar is big with plenty of room and character. The beet is good. Great cans in the fridge. Also some decent Draft on too.
A. L.
Great place for lunch break,it would be better if they serve pasta.
D. B.
Great beer selection and atmosphere for a drink with the lads! Well looked after by Jimmy and will be back soon! Top lad 👍
E. “. P.
Georgia is a great and friendly waitress. The service was quick. She made excellent recommendations from the menu.
J. W.
Had an amazing time here and a young lady called bridle or bridy (sorry) was hilarious when serving us. Will definitely be back, cheers B! X
A. K.
Great pub for food, watching sport and beer choices. Some can be pricey but always served correctly
K. J.
Really lovely staff and the katsu chicken burger was amazing! Good range of ales/ciders too!
G. t. w. h. H.
Epic period pub in a wonderful museum! So traditional it had sawdust along the bar!! "Proper spit n sawdust!" Lol
N. G.
Beer ( Red Dust) undrinkable. Zero atmosphere in pub. Left after ten minutes & about a third of pint drunk. No other beer options except bog standard IPA.
Now back at Crows Nest after manager confirmed the beer had been taken of that night due to complaint. Provided wirh two replacements that are completely delicious & so far gratis. Thanks very much.
M. W.
Had a really nice lunch with friends here. Bar staff were very helpful. Great please for food and drink.
C. H.
Had a lovely evening at crows nest last night, was helped by Georgia who had a great knowledge of both the food and drinks menus and couldn't do enough to make sure our needs were met
D. T.
Had a great meal here over the Easter weekend. It was busy but we had booked and the colleague placed us in the quiet bit at the back of the pub. The menu has some great variations including wild boar sausages but also has traditional pub favourites.
Would recommend and visit again. The service, food and drink was excellent!
W. P.
I love the Crows Nest. The staff are lovely and they keep their beers pretty well.
My one major hiccup is that no one knows how to pour a Guinness properly, and even when they are quiet they pour the pint all in one.
Aside from butchering a Guinness, the place is so nice and I find myself down there quite often.
J. L.
This is an excellent 👏 place for a good pint and a meal. Staff are very friendly and helpful. 5stars😊
J. B.
Omg best bar wench ever "Bride" great laugh fast service let's you get totally plastered without chucking you out , but I am well behaved
P. F.
A great pub with a great atmosphere and good service. Barmaid Bridie particularly helpful and friendly.
J. R.
Great friendly service, bartender Georgia could not have done enough to make sure we had a great night!
g. w.
A marvellous few drinks sitting in the sunshine great staff and a well served pint worth a look in
D. T.
Nice Cosy Bar.. Somewhere you can have a nice present place & bar staff make you free very welcome
J. M.
The service was great and the food was delicious! I got the Steak and Ale pie and I are every bite. Will be back. Only negative is they were out of cod, so I couldn't get fish n chips.
C. G.
I love this pub, it is cosy and pleasant. I love coming in for a glass of wine, served by the fabulous Bridie.
J. T.
Good match day pub, fine selection of beers, close to haymarket so very good transport links
K. F.
Visit last night as a group of 13, it was last minute and the manager Gareth was accomdating in getting us a table sorted for food and drink. We were served by Jimmy who was fantastic and very attentive with our order making sure everything was OK during our visit. We'll definately he returning again and would like to thank Gareth and the team for looking after us.
K. F.

E. C.
Friendly staff and warm welcome.
Nice atmosphere with a mix of customer.
Steak and chip ok, fairish price for rump.
However pretty bland flavour generally.
Would come back for a beer, but leave the eating.
b. B.
Best place in town to get a drink and Jimmy pours the best Guinness!
V. R.
First place I experienced with my family when I arrived to Newcastle. Beautiful decor, felt at home from the get go. The food is delicious and the attention superb. Definitely, when we come back, this will be our first stop again.
R. S.
Great food, great choice of craft beer, pity the manager is a fake mackem Liverpool fan
S. L.
Staff friendly and welcoming, food was good and well priced, the ease of ordering from the app was also a nice touch
M. W.
Very nice pub in the heart of the city. It has a nice oldschool atmosphere and you get a pretty decent meal and drink for a decent price. Everything was pretty clean and the staff is very friendly. A perfect place to meet some friends and have a little chat or watch a sports game. The food could use a little more spices in my opinion, but thats personal taste.
I. D.
A very nice 'old feel' pub.
A. H.
Thanks Kayleigh for your excellent service xxxxxx
B. F.
Good food, excellent service from Bridie
A. D.
I went there to watch the rugby world cup and it was nice! Edit : I went there again for the semi final and it was awesome! Great atmosphere, big screens and nice staff. Also, delicious breakfast! ♥️
L. L.
Friendly staff, tasty food and its great place to watch sport with lots of TV screens and a big projector screen. The female toilet facilities are a bit run down and need some attention but otherwise a great pub in a good location, just across the road to Haymarket metro and bus stations.
M. B.
A city centre location with a Metro 100 m away. This is a pub with issues. The beer issued from the cask is not kept well enough. The staff are helpful but the slightly sticky tables and confused decor make convenience and proximity the only reason to revisit. There is not enough warmth. This is not a local.
C. B.
Good range of real ales available, and the local pale ale from Newcastle University (Stubrew) was excellent. Had steak & kidney pudding which was pretty good too. The chips were a bit disappointing though!
P. J. W.
Pretty average Greene King pub, in that it's perfectly ok, but nothing exciting. But the beer is well kept, if a little dull, and the barman was friendly enough. Really deserves three and a half stars...
J. G.
Good selection on beers, and reasonable food. Outside area great in the sunshine. This place can get loud and busy when popular sports events are on the television. There is access to the car from Newcastle University campus grounds and this is a popular haunt for university staff.
J. P.
Top bloke running it! Love the beers!
R. K.
Big screens for sport and a good selection of cask ales are plus points. Haven't eaten there so can't comment on the food. Toilets are a bit dingy.
M. S.
A good selection of nice beers.Helpfull friendly staff who are doing a great job to make sure people feel safe and well isolated during there visit.
D. B.
Nice pub. Well maintained and good looking interior decor. Bar staff are friendly, food menu is typically green king so not bad. Drinks are average price.
M. F.
Nice pub ,good ambience
D. M.
Quite a large spacious pub, quite relaxed on the off-peak times I visited but apparently can get very busy. A good selection of beers at reasonable prices and helpful friendly staff.
I. S.
The best way i can describe the place, is to compare it to a wetherspoon's with regards to prices/food offers/selection, with better cleanliness, less busy and way friendlier (and regular) bar staff.
Generally attracts a nice hum around lunch times and straight after work.
Cracking pub.
J. B.
Excellent pub something for everyone
O.
A fantastic pub with good beer and great location. Brilliant when the rugby is on. Service is not up to scratch though especially considering it is ALWAYS busy.
J. W.
Went here to watch football and rugby and to celebrate a retirement. Great beer selection.well kept pub comfortable seating areas.clean and tidy pub .Staff were very attentive even though the place was very busy .good service hard working and friendly staff
P. T.
Very close to Newcastle University. Attracts a very mixed bag of customers. Near to Newcastle City centre so a mixture of students, shoppers and visiting tourists tend to rub along side each other. Pub grub and fairly standard mix of ales and non alcoholic refreshments on offer, an Ok city centre pub.
H. P.
Food was lush, had a couple sharing platters , service was great, great Gin range
E. O.
We went in on Saturday night sat outside as was a pleasent evening staff served us quickly and have to say the chips we ordered were amazing so tasty def go back again
P. S.
Was ok but prices for the same round of drinks were different on 3 occassions
p. s.
Lad who works behind the bar was canny fit like.
A. E.
It's the usual pub where we go to for a drink after a day at work. Food is ok. If you're a football fan, it's a great place since they usually have the match on too.
G. R.

L. B.
Big pub with a good selection of beer, but not the cheapest place. Even food is available. Visited the pub quite a few times already.
R. H.
Good pub near university. Surprisingly cheap. Food looked good but I didn't actually try it so I can only give a recommendation based on visual evidence.
S. W.
Love the pub but getting served when the match is on is abysmal. Not enough staff, for long bar, and they just serve who ever is in front of them. Very annoying.
T. W.
Love this place. Has a great beer selection these days. The Beavertown Blood Orange on draught is delightful.
P. J.
Great atmosphere and selection of beers, the best place to watch sport, there's a TV for every vantage point
