We enjoyed a decaf/morning tea with our order . We ordered Two roast chicken dinners . The meals came quickly and they were huge , gravy was in a gravy boat 👍 personally I found the chicken breast was dry and the swede was woody . My husband also had the apple pie and custard which he declared was delicious . We would recommend this restaurant , it’s newly refurbished and looks welcoming .

Highly recommend to all a visit to the newly refurbished The Kings Arms. Great pub, very attentive hard working staff who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great visit today. Thank you to Lee & Steph! We had Sunday lunch which was second to none and my daughter had some food off the kids menu which she thoroughly enjoyed. Love the newly refurbished bar and eating area… and the outside looks great! The new extra touches such as pool table, darts board and games for the kids are brilliant.. we will be definitely going back soon 👍🏻

The King's Arms formally known as the Shire Horse is a great place to visit. We went on the second staff training day for drinks and a meal. They have done a great job with the makeover, very pleasant atmosphere. We were welcomed at the door and promptly sat down. The manager Josh and all of his staff are brilliant and can't do enough for you. Food was worth coming for. All in all we had a lovely time. Paul.

This is the very first time we have been in this pub since it first opened about 12 years ago. We were pleasantly surprised. The decor is nice and there is a good range of food and drinks. We were served by a pleasant barmaid and the lady who served us our food came back to check ever was ok . It got a bit rowdy when a large group were playing pool but it's big enough to move away to a quieter part. We'll definitely be back

We came to our new local to try out the Sunday dining menu and were again greeted with a warm welcome as always! we enjoyed a very nicely cooked roast lunch with our favourite drinks. The staff were friendly as usual, except for the blonde lady behind the bar who is always polite, welcoming, and chatty. Thanks for making our visit feel like a home from home once again.

We had not tried this pub before, but we're happily surprised, it was a nice environment and they do a different offer every day, o. The day we went it was a pizza and a drink for ten quid. The pizza when it arrived was a real suprise l, it was the real thing a proper hand pulled base with a very nice topping. We would be happy to return when we are in the area.

Service at the bar was very efficient the staff are well trained and a credit to the management within the pub. Not visited for a while due to previous manager and her attitude so tried again and would have to say well done on your appointment of the new manager his attention to service and standards are a credit to your company. I asked for the chefs name and was told Josh who can I say knows how to cook a steak. Well done all round. And I don’t mean the steak all round fantastic experience

Haven't been here since it was The Shire Horse, stopped going as the food was not up to scratch, glad to say though as it's now had an overhaul it is much better. Food was reasonably priced, delicious (compliments to the chef) hot and served very quickly and our server Lisa was very professional, polite and friendly. Well done 👏 😁

Had Sunday lunch here last weekend, had to send it back as it was cold. The meal itself was nice but apart from the meat very small portions of veg, and 3 small roast potatoes . Couldn't eat the cauliflower cheese it was disgusting. Not good value for money. Desserts not very nice either, not a patch on what they used to be.

Bar Staff always really friendly and attentive. I can never fault Steph, Kerry & Lisa. Was quite tonight but made every table feel special. TVs around the place are in great locations, music a good level. The food is really nice so whoever works in the kitchen to is doing a top notch job.

Popped in last night for one of the training evenings. The place looks fantastic, family friendly. Staff look very smart in new uniforms. They were very helpful and lovely to chat to great to see a pool table and dart board in the pub we had the new pizzas on menu and the curry one was amazing. Food is very tasty. We had an early evening table for 12 people in March. There was a little disappointing moment when we ordered the food to be told there’d be a 45 minute wait as we were a large group (even though we’d booked a few weeks beforehand) but common sense prevailed, another staff member stepped in and said they’d help, and we waited less than 30 minutes. Overall it was what we wanted - food was tasty, hot and went down well with the diverse group which included vegan and vegetarian options and 2 children. Every dish can be ‘personalised ’ to add or take away specific items which is useful too. Even better was the helpful staff member who came to take pudding/coffee orders rather than going back to the bar again. It’s not the place to go if you want an adventurous menu or a wine list (there isn’t one) but for basic pub food, friendly staff and a good range of choice it’s great. Thank you

Best food I have had out in a long time! As a long time regular the staff are the best around, all exceptionally hard working and such an amazingly talented team. The only small downside is freshness of food which marstons suppliers could do better with in my opinion! The recent refurbishment of pub is superb and show all sports, have occasional live bands with a top atmosphere. Love my local, pull perfect pint everytime.😊

Having visited the newly refurbished kings arms last night (Saturday 30th Oct) i am very pleased with the decor,food and the staff. The chap who served us was called lee and he was very helpful. Explaining about the new menu items. We tried the new stone baked pizzas these were very tasty. The kids love the new kids corner. Decor is very trendy and calming. Can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I called into our local pub, the King's Arms in killingworth and were warmly greeted by Angie. She enquired zbout our health and well being and showed us to our favourite table. I ordered drinks and Angie brought them yo our table. The ambiance of the pub and friendliness of staff makes it a great place to relax with a drink. Angie came around to ensure we're happy with everything. I noticed that Angie was continually busy serving customers either meals, greeting customers, clearing tables and cleaning tables and chairs. She is a great asset to the pub.

A good range of beers and great atmosphere. Terrible selection of Ciders. The food is well below average, everything is out of the freezer or a tube. And serving frozen chips that are undercooked.... Really guys? It is not that hard. Have your tea before you go out and if you like decent cider, don't bother. Other than that, it is ok. **Updated in response ** like many other people that night we did bring the poor food quality to your attention, and in draught you have strongbow or strongbow dark fruits! Of all the decent craft ciders it there, you choose them? I don't get it when you do good beers and lagers, Hence my review. Cider drinkers have feelings too !

Sounds really stupid, but was shocked and happy that chips was available on the gluten free menu 😱 Most pubs offer a jacket potato as gluten free substitute 😩 steak and jacket potato is a tradegey!!! 😳 Steak and chips that are gluten free will have me recommend your venue to anyone that has to eat gluten free 🤯🥳 Service was great, will definitely be back 🤩

We booked a breakfast with Santa, 2 weeks before Xmas for my the family. The whole morning was great. We had a lovely breakfast, games for the children, Santa hats, crackers, letters to Santa, party games AND a visit from Santa with a present. The food is normally decent here. So me and my lass went here for a Carvery tonight...... the meat was good but the veg and stuffing wasn’t the best. Mash looked like it had been left a few days.....roast potatoes were cold.....and it all tasted a bit funky if I’m honest, the stuffing was rock hard and looking a bit stale and had no taste. So just ate the meat and left the rest. My lass also got the soup of the day....which was basically Heinz tomato soup straight from a can. I’d avoid this place for a Carvery, but would recommend for other meals and desserts.

Its ok there's plenty of parking and yes I'd go again. Would love home made Yorkshire puddings. It's clean, cheap and worth a visit. Its got Sky for the sports and friendly staff. Its disability friendy with wide doors. Check out the cakes there colourful and tasty.
