Great little craft micro pub with a truly diverse bunch of beers on tap, cask and tins. Had a cognac-infused cake stout that was phenomenal and truly unique! Highly recommended.

Little gem of a place. Great selection of really nice beers. The lady who worked there (guessing owner) never stopped. Not sure if it's a covid thing but she managed the space really well to make sure it wasn't too busy/overcrowded. Outside space at the back which will prove very handy on warm match days. A really quirky little bar, with some outside seating both front and back. I was astounded at the range of ales available, and thoroughly enjoyed a half on a warm afternoon. I was surprised at the popularity of the bar with an eclectic clientele. Friendly and knowledgeable bar person who was happy to provide a 'taste' of any fancied ale prior to purchase.

Over from Belfast for the weekend, speculative visit on Sunday afternoon turned out to be the 4th anniversary! Small lively pub with a good selection of draft beers and interesting decor. Only stayed for one but enjoyed the atmosphere.

Being a big fan of both craft beer, The Cramps and all things rock N roll/kitsch this was an essential visit for my husband and I on our trip around the NE. COVID measures all spot on and table service was great. Barman and owner were super friendly and took the time to chat with us (given we were geeking out over the decor!) Largest fresh cask selection I encountered during our 2 weeks which given the difficult circumstances was even more impressive. Strong keg lineup and some sours available in the fridge. Massive thumbs up from us...make the effort to visit and you won't be disappointed. I'm very jealous you have this in Newcastle, I want one in Birmingham! :-)

What a lovely boozer just off main drag in Newcastle. Looks like a taxi office from outside, but warm, friendly and clean. Spot on ales and give tasters. I was in area for a week and by 2nd visit the pint of choice was on bar waiting for me as I made my way through customers. Bar lads; top notch. Thanks to them for providing a place to have a good pint and chill time, when it was a stressful week.

Almost a wonderful pub - great range of beers, nice snacks, friendly atmosphere etc. It's just SO NOISY. Sound insulation plus zero soft furnishings make it an echo chamber. So, if you have perfect hearing and/or no desire to hear your friends' conversations, it's just about perfect.

Similar vibe to the Mean Eyed Cat in Austin, TX. Nice people and good service. However, unless you favour IPA’s, with some of it so hoppy that it burns, this may not be the place for you. My last visit saw six cask ales available; one was a stout, all the other five were IPA’s. I don’t understand the point in this. Dedicating a single pump to a bitter, ruby or even an amber would see me regularly visiting. As it is, most likely not.

Whereas I am not a massive craft beer and ale fan, I was able to note the varied selection they had on offer. Which was plentiful. I ordered a double Makers Mark with a bit of ice and got my drink exactly as ordered. I did appreciate the proper whisker tumbler the drink was served in. A lot of bars in town give the wrong glass when pouring a drink, or even worse a plastic cup. The atmosphere was great and the star of the experience I felt a friendlier than usual presence while there that reminded me of smaller beer houses or coffee shops abroad. Only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is a notable lack in music and a slightly too small list of spirits. Overall definitely worth at least one drink on a night out.

I am a purveyor of the weird and wonderful. Let's just say I met my match as far as pubs go. Could not have been more pleased to find this gem of place in Newcastle. What a breath of fresh air. This place is small, once you get over that theres a lot more to this place in they way of choice. They had at least 12 real ales and 5 real ciders and a Perry. Its reasonably priced for what you are getting It sits in the city centre so is easy to get to. Only downside is that due to its 'cramped' nature it was pretty hot. What a truly outstanding bar. Today was only a brief visit, but the bright, Spanish theme seems to work, with the mixed furniture. More pertinently, the cask and keg beer range is excellent and there is much to keep cider drinkers amused. Superb music too, though not so much as to drown out conversation. A really nice real Ale micro pub. Not been opened for long. Its quite deceptive from the outside as it looks more like a cafe than a pub. The prices range from normal to expensive. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a atmosphere in this pub which I like.

Fantastic little bar just off Haymarket in Newcastle. As an independent micro-bar, It is very different to the conventional bars in the Haymarket area. It's quirky, friendly and thriving, with a diverse range of cask and keg beers - so similar to other microbars, don't expect standard draft lagers and beers and you won't be disappointed. We've visited alone, with friends for beers, pots of tea and to be served food on Thursdays when top-notch street food caterers rotate to pay their weekly visit. It's a small bar with a really big heart and the owners' extensive fund-raising activities and events are also a pleasure to attend. On every occasion, we've received a very warm welcome and never to cease to leave without making new friends. It's a great place to be and a jewel in the toon's croon.

Great little place to stop while waiting for a bus at Haymarket. 6 to 8 different real ales and ciders, good range of street food and reminiscent of a South American cantina. Miles better than the standard town centre bars and well worth a visit.

Great selection of real ciders served from the cellar. Almost any pub serving real cider means staff have to disappear to the cellar to retrieve it. It is delivered and kept in boxes, not keg or cask so can't be piped in like the beers. Always quality conditioned in the Mean Eyed Cat, currently 9 ciders on offer and everyone is a winner. Be wary of reviews complaining of this process but finding it in their hearts to give Greggs 3 stars and McDonalds 5 stars!!! This pub is a real winner and know how to keep their beers and ciders👍👍

Personally I have pondered a lot with this review and the reason why I have gave it a low rating is purely based on the way my drink was served, I was given a good choice of cask ciders from a broad but it all went down hill when I chose the drink I desired and the guy said I'll not be a moment and went out the back somewhere in order to fill the glass. I'm not a fan of this process personally but it's definitely cosy and relaxed atmosphere with other ales coming from draft at the bar. Again I like to see where my purchase is coming from. Based on the response to the original review I had left was a 2☆ I was responded with a very polite and explainable reason to the review I had gave, so with that been said I can actually justify re-evaluating my previous review and rate this a 4☆ simply as it was very much an enjoyable experience and for anyone who has/wants to attend. The ONLY reason why not 5☆ is purely a learning curve for the staff/management to inform the customer of the process. I would like to that the Mean-eyed Cat for it's feedback and it's handling of constructive criticism. Thanks again. See you soon
