Reviews of The Bodega
R. H.
Drinks were well priced and there was a lovely atmosphere. 10% student discount on all drinks. Friendly staff. We came for the 8:30 pub quiz which was loads of fun! Great prizes for the top 4 and the coveted wooden spoon for the team that came second to last. Highly recommend.
M. A.
Lovely bar great ale selection always got the sports on make it your local if you can 👍
P. S.
Large bar with a wide rang of high quality cask beers served over the counter by knowledgeable and friendly staff.
P.
Always well kept beer lovely old decor. But wish their quiz didn't have "music" section that guarantees anyone over age of 30 a guaranteed no chance of winning !
P. D.
It's a rare haven.... a pub without pretence. Decent beer.... relaxed atmosphere. Give it a try....
S. W.
Nice and friendly traditional pub, no food, just bat snacks and a great beer selection. Very busy on match days as it has near 100% visibility of a screen from anywhere in the pub.
G. M.
Often a very noisy pub but on this occasion it was quite busy but still not at roaring level and thoroughly pleasant.
Thankfully the remote did not work for the guy who wanted to blast the telly 😁
A. D.
Good beer selection but a bit pricey compared to other options in Newcastle and the staff seemed very disinterested in their customer service.
P. H.
Went their after watching the newcastle eagles play, a proper old fashion pub, one note though theirs no designated disabled toilet!
S.
Fantastic place, shocked at how beautiful the pub was. Great staff and friendly patrons
M. P.
Favourite pub in town. Looks great brilliant beers with a fantastic atmosphere without ever being to loud or over run except maybe on a match day but if that's what you're there for you are only 4mins walk from St.James' so even then it's a good choice of pub
R. P.
Reliable city centre pub with good range of well kept cask ales including local ones (Nice pint of Rigg&Furrow Best when I last visited). Interesting interior with glass dome over the rear part of the pub. Always seems fairly friendly. Variety of seating including booths for a more cosy drink.
M.
Lovely old bar, great domes on ceiling, good beer !
D. F.
Quiet, friendly city centre bar that always has an extensive selection of on tap beers
D. D.
Very nice staff, amazing decor. Could do with some hipster treatment.
A. H.
Great traditional pub with, big screens for watching sport, great selection of beers served by friendly staff
R. V.
One of the best pubs in Newcastle, the Bodega has a wide selection of cask and keg ales along with a large selection of spirits. Always worth a visit. Top class.
k. p.
Canny bar always packed on match day. Tad expensive tho
D. M.
Great atmosphere. Good range of beers. Excellent service
P. L.
Good beer, I don't like the TV being when it isn't a Newcastle match but you can't have everything.
B. R.
Best place near Central Station to watch Monday night football. Always an interesting selection of beers. And plenty of screens.
Good craic😀
C. A.
Doesn’t get more authentic than this. Must come for a drink when in Newcastle! Music is also class. 🍻
K. B.
First time I've been, and feels like 60yrs wasted. Fanrastic architecture, well vdbfalates and a barman whose turned making a snakebite into an artform.
J. T.
Excellent pub with a good range of beer
m. k.
Great local pub.just off the city centre.
D. H.
Good beer nice n cozy. jukebox champion
D. S.
Traditional bar with a first class selection of very well kept cask ales. Great staff and atmosphere.
S. B.
What a pleasure lovely staff good drink selection will definitely be back .
o. b.
One of the few remaining Newcastle pubs with a traditional domed ceiling. Great beer selection, shows sport, has a darts board. Excellent staff. A bit pricey. It's a pub not a bar. Wood panelling and tiled walls and ceiling.
G. N.
Good beer selection and lovely interior
L. E.
Great traditional pub with, big screens for watching sport, good selection of beers served by friendly staff. Always very busy pre match at St James Park but that's all part of the attraction!
C.
Great barman; shame he was the only one working a busy bar.
R. T.
Best beers in the city centre by far of any football-screening pub. Crafties + sport = winner.
P. A.
One of my favourite bars in Newcastle. Relaxed atmosphere and consistently good quality beer. Usually visit whilst going from or to St James' Park so usually very busy but service is still fast and efficient. Known as a real ale pub but also a good selection of quality lagers for people like me; the Peroni is sublime!
K. C.
Fine old boozer on Westgate Road. Varied range of real ales on sale.
G. W.
Great pub, great atmosphere, and the bar staff were friendly and welcoming.
I. D.
Great traditional pub and an excellent choice of beers.
R. L.
Absolutely wicked little sports bar that can get awfully full on match days but it's absolutely worth it for the atmosphere.
people often don't realise that there is a lot of space in the back and so the further in you go the more likely you are to find a little breathing room. for those that like darts they have some dart boards at the back and you don't have to leave a deposit to get the darts. Great whether you're a football fan or a rugby fan or just there to hang out and have a pint. The ceilings are also some incredible pieces of work and generally it's fantastic to have some much natural light fill the place.
S. L.
Decent city centre pub with a good range of lagers and beers. Tends to be popular and busy on match days but it's very big so plenty space.
Has a few big screens so good for watching the match too!
R. A. W.
Visited before the football and it was rammed. Took 20 mins to get served. I think I'd of had a different experience if it was quiet so I don't think I can leave an honest review. All I can say is don't go on match day if you want to have a quiet drink.
G. C.
Large pub with ornate, glazed ceiling firmed from the former reception lobby of the theatre next door.
Serves a wide range of decent ales, but can be a little "smelly" when you first enter. They could pay do with better ventilation
C. J.
The best choice of beer in Newcastle (although more red and brown ales please). The staff are lovely, and if you're a football fan then you'll likely find your game being shown here.
Check out the quiz on a Thursday. Very friendly quiz master, and it's a lovely night.
F. R.
Such a good find! Great range of well kept beers and really friendly and helpful staff (we really appreciate you being so nice to us after the pints accidentally went over like dominoes!). Always worth a visit
E. G.
Lovely decor. Very clean
A. T.
Old music hall,it certainly looks the part with two large glass domes, it's a Fitzgerald's pub and has won camra pub of the year a few times. The beer is excellent, the clientele is a little older, but gets busy on match days or when their is an event on at the nearby Tyne theatre or Academy. It would get 5 if it didn't smell odd.
J. D.
Great selection of real ales, and coped well with the extra business from a capacity crowd at St James' Park. Also good for a pre- or post-theatre drink when going to shows at the Tyne Theatre.
j. b.
There's some great architecture in this place with a glass cupola in the centre. Good choice of beers with friendly staff and a quiz in Thursday. Gets HEAVING when Newcastle match on but rest of the time just pleasantly busy.
N. W.
Good pub with excellent range of ales. Former local CAMRA "pub of the year".
M. C.
Great spot in Newcastle City centre. Great selection of drinks, friendly staff and good music. Handy for large groups as plenty of room. Popular when Newcastle United play at home!
B. M.
Great selection of reasonably priced drinks considering it's located in Newcastle.
Friendly mix of people. Would recommend this great pub for a drink or two.
R. M.
Nice pub very clean and spacious. Friendly staff. It's not the cheapest £3.40 for pint of Carling but reasonable for a decent city centre boozer.
J. H.
Cheap ish beer, nice real ales. And great staff
R. R.
7/4/19.
Nice, friendly local. Plus for all us folks with Gluten issues, it had two GF beers on draft.
So its a 5 star from me.
s. f.
Great pub,good beers
P. R.
Home from home, friendly staff, good beers,
best pub in Newcastle if you're simply wanting a few pints on a Friday night away from the more frenetic bars closer to Central Station.
D. H.
Friendly barman,great building,good beer choice
A. E.
Bar was fine but quizz master had an attitude & came across as rude when asked questions.
S. B.
Visited on match day evening prior to the game. Bustling pub a walk away from St. James' park. Great place to meet and chat football with like minded people. Away fans welcome.
C. W.
Great beer & atmosphere.
S. B.
A rare gem. Fabulous pub interior, with a diverse, constantly changing array of craft beers (currently Jarl from Fyne Ales seems to be permanent). That's not all. Like sport? There's an array of HD screens with BT and Sky. The staff are great too, and it's a short walk from the station as well.
n. f.
A real proper pub great atmosphere especially around match days with just a short walk to the cathedral on the hill AKA St James Park. Great beers and ales and a canny gin selection too.
P. A.
Lovely pub. Nice atmosphere. Good beer too. Plenty of screens to watch sport on. Near two music venus too, so handy to meet in for a pre-concert dtink
J. W.
A most underrated bar in Newcastle. Good beer! While other places get manic on the West Road this place still manages to feel calm and convivial.
R. M.
Wonderful heritage pub with good choice of real ales. Despite it being very busy (just before a Newcastle United home match), the service was excellent.
L. S.
Smashing little pub for drinks before the Tyne Theatre next door. Great range of real ales on offer and very traditional, if a little tired, surroundings.
S. O.
Great pub with great beer.A proper real ale pub with a good atmosphere. Worth a visit just to have a look at the glass domed ceiling
P. O.

A proper real ale pub - wooden floor, a good selection of beers. Also the staff are friendly and genuinely want to help.
