Reviews of The Bridge Tavern
M. T.
Incredibly welcoming of our dog! Fantastic selection of draught produce and fresh tasty food. One of Newcastle’s best gastropubs
G. G.
Located under the Tyne Bridge this is my favourite pub in Newcastle. Has 2 good heated outdoor areas too.
J. E.
We love this place. Excellent food, Excellent drink selection and Mr Scuff on the walls. My only criticism would be that I returned a snide fiver that the bar staff had given my wife and I was met with eye rolls and head shaking as if I was being a pain…! Still a top boozer.
D. G.
I first visited this pub in 2018. My second visit yesterday confirmed my initial impression that the owners and staff know what they are doing. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed and the selection of well kept beers provides something for all tastes.
B. R.
Great beer here. There’s a superb vegetarian chickpea wrap with fries and salad for £6! Highly recommend
P.
An excellent place to celebrate winning a long defamation case. Frequented by celebrities.
A. W.
For a premier Newcastle location, the beer prices were bearable and the choice was excellent. Very good atmosphere and bar staff friendly.
N. S.
Great little place just off the quayside. Inside and outside places to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The surprise arrival of a certain Johnny depp certainly helped with that too.
D. M.
This is a great pub with a fantastic beer selection with good food as well. They brew some of their own beer on site as well as getting some of the best craft beer available on tap and in the fridge. Sometimes it's gets busy for eating so probably best to book to be sure. Efficient staff serve quickly though.
L. E.
Enjoyed a very pleasant drink here with work colleagues. Lovely atmosphere. Keen to return!
D. C.
Microbrewery beers were good and the environment was cosy, food was reasonable. Chicken pie had a nice flaky pastry, but the fish and chips were a little below par. Beers were nice - a good place to relax with friends.
P. B.
Dog friendly.
One of the best bars we’ve ever been to in the UK. Amazing choice of beers, in house brewery, outside areas right under the Tyne Bridge.
Super warm outside even if it’s cold due to the space heaters.
Incredible, very well done 👏🏻
Love this place.
Part of the Wylam Brewery chain of bars.
M. A.
Great pub, good selection of ales. I can't say the food was great value, but it was very impressively presented and bloomin tasty.
E. M.
Excellent Staff & Service ,Great food & Drink , Brilliant Location, served by Naomi 10 of of 10.
S. H.
Visiting Newcastle for the first time and what a wonderful city! This bar had an excellent selection of beers and the staff were really friendly. Add to that the brilliant atmosphere and you've got a winner for a night out.
G. W.
Great beer selection, nice decor and plenty of places to sit, stand and gather with friends. Big spirits selection too and some great bourbon and whisky on displays. Staff really polite and friendly, toilets clean and tidy for a Friday night. Great place to pop in for a pint.
D. H.
Great selection of beers which are changed regularly there always seems to be something new to try. The menu is limited but the food is fine. Can be very relaxed atmosphere quiet times, although it can get rammed at peak times on Friday and Saturday nights.
j. b.
The bridge tavern is a great city centre pub, cracking range of ales and friendly knowledgeable staff who will guide you with your selection of the many ales they have on tap. I have eaten here twice and the food was excellent. A must try bar in the city
唐.
A good selection of ales, some of which are brewed on site. This pub is situated under the Newcastle bridge
G. C. T.
Excellent food and great atmosphere. If you are in Newcastle and you are hungry don't miss this pub. You won't regret it.
M. f.
I highly recommend, a large selection of beers, one better than the other, good music.👍
R. J.
Really trendy place, and got mu steps up going to the toilet.good beer will visityagain to same the food.
D. D.
We had a great Bank Holiday weekend and was in the bridge tavern quite a few times over our long weekend away it was by far our favourite pub in Newcastle
R. P.
Really nice pub. Great range of beers at a decent price for the location.
S.
Lovely pint of ale, beautiful place to sit in or out but the staff were fantastic
J. R. R.
Fab place with cool and charming bar staff and only good beer on tap. We came back twice on a three-day trip just to finish trying the selection which includes nationally acclaimed breweries. Great relaxed atmosphere with fun decor including strange old books and comfy seating. Easily the best bar in Newcastle for craft beer by a country mile.
G. P.
Nice pub with good brews, nice atmosphere but does get busy
N. F.
Top bar with loads of great ales.
Bit pricey but a nice place.
W. W.
Always forget this bar is here, usual see the Akenside and make a swerve due to the usual rowdiness of said akenside. Decent pint and pleasant bar.
P. S.
I love the wonderful and delicate environment, the warmth, and the workers are really friendly, I recommend this place. Will be going back for the potatoes.
R.
Really great ambience for a Wednesday evening. Just had a few pints of Guinness, prices are good and the decor is really good. Will be back next time I visit.
p. s.
Brilliant.
What a find, doesn't look much from the outside. But as soon as you walk in. Stunning, really nice inside with a bar upstairs leading to a hidden gem of the outside decked area. The food is great, brilliant sharing plates. Lovely burgers. Really good cheese board to share. Top class beers as well. A warm welcome from the staff, friendly and helpful. Will be going back plenty of times.
L. W.
One of the greatest bars in Newcastle, a superb selection of beers and ales with great outdoor seating.
J. m.
Excellent pub excellent beer excellent food would highly recommend 😁
C. D.
Walking into this place was like stepping back into the 80s, in a good way. It was really nice to go back into a good old fashioned pub, there's not many left these days. Unfortunately they're not doing food at the moment due to staff shortages - the bar staff were really chatty and friendly, we would have definitely stopped for drinks had we not been starving!
K. A.
I've been here twice probably about 4 or 5 years apart when my dad's been visiting and each time he's been debating a beer the bar staff have offered him a sample based on what he says he normally likes. That level of service can't be found in many other places. It was appreciated 4 years ago which was why we came back and you did the same thing again, thank you so much!
N. C.
Really good selection of beers and excellent food. The place has a good vibe with a cosy feel and happy staff. Well recommended.
P. G.
Nice pub. Good food. I can recommend the beef and ale pie.
A. k.
Usually great beer, in particular the stuff brewed on site. Food is brilliant too. There's a hipster server who's been here for years, he's friendly.
L. F.
Note to Americans: if you're looking for grub after 8pm dont walk all over town- go to The Bridge Tavern! We eat late so finding food after 8pm felt impossible but this place not only got us in under-the-wire, the pints we're delicious and the service was A+. Mushroom toast was the BEST! Definitely a repeater in the future, cheers!
D. v. B.
Nice location. Great variety on Beers bottled and draft
R. B.
Absolutely packed not keen on the toilets being up stairs pleased to say plenty of staff did not wait too long to be served
J. W.
Great service and food, however it was spoilt by the amount of dogs that came in with their owners, not good when you are eating 😫
J. H.
Great pub with a strong selection of beers. Beautiful part of town with great views all around. Stylish interior with a laid back, relaxing vibe. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Visiting from London for the weekend and would recommend highly 🙌
P. R.
I think that I've just experienced one of the best pub meals of my life!
A. E.
Great background music, quick service & nice mix of ages tho a bit coupley
P. M.
It would have got 5 stars but for the state of the facilities. Please could someone monitor the toilets regularly? We went in this pub 3 times over the weekend and on no occasion were they acceptable. It's a shame as this is a brilliant Newcastle establishment.
P. S.
Really nice pub that's well laid out with plenty of space. Lots of outdoor space for smokers and those who are more concerned about catching Covid.
P. M.
The Bridge tavern is old style Brish put, which looks great on the outside but is lacking something on the inside. The chappie who served up said something about a takeover. Having said the beer was very palatable. The location is very attractive. Would definitely recommend
i. c.
Great food, especially the burger
Lots of craft beer selection (at least 8) all good quality and kept well. Medium prices for newcastle (some craft beer pubs are cheaper, others more expensive)
They have their own brewery on site (don't think they are brewing yet (post covid) but heard they intend to restart in the next month or 2 (happy to be corrected on this, overheard a conversation at the bar)
J. N.
Really good bar. Loads of space. Never eaten there. Bit the food looks and smells Devine. The beer is top quality. Loads of selection. For a crafty like me. Beer great quality.
The pub is nicely done out. Would recommend checking it out.
A. S.
Hadn't been for years. But it is a great place to visit. Hope to being going back a lot of times in the future
K. M.
Great selection of beers and the planks from the menu were fantastic
A. R.
Nice little pub
£14 for a small wine and a pint of real ale
M. R.
Lovely place with great drinks and service.
C. R. D.
Cosy and friendly pub with great decor. Food ok
V. C.
Situated directly under the Tyne Bridge, this pub opens out like a Tardis onto two levels and a roof terrace. It's beautiful!
N. W.
Great atmosphere and a great selection of pints on tap!
D. W.
Nice pub with a laid back atmosphere. The Black IPA brewed on site is superb.
D. P.
I genuinely like this place but can't quite give it five stars simply because a beer selection isn't quite broad enough or exactly to my taste.
The food is reliable and decent he has to be said. Venue is nicely decorated and very conveniently located.
I'd like to see some stronger available served in 1/4 and 2/3 formats. Nevertheless is quality place and the staff are awesome.
I. W.
Great bar with lots of great beer options. Trendy place with own microbrewery at rear, lovely atmosphere. Food is also available.
S. D.
Excellent food (I mean excellent) and friendly service.
I had the Tripled cooked chips and the Mrs had Brown & White Crab on Toast.
Not sure what drink to get? Beavertown IPA, bloody lovely every time.
A. D.
Wonderful pub underneath the Tyne Bridge with lots of character. Lovely rooftop bar with the most unusual, wonderful views!
T. H.
Such a relaxed pub have a great choice of draft ales .Drinks are reasonably priced . Never had food although it's look delicious.
Dogs are allowed also .
B. W.
Great place, lots of different beers, cool and friendly atmosphere and the food was very nice
J. C.
Nice drinks, lively and seemingly good atmosphere.
D. B.
Pub is lovely and have a great range of beers and ipas, however the last order for food at 7 kinda forced us out after that a great pub
C.
Sharing meat bored #peng! Great service, amazing food! Thank you 😊
N. M.
Lots of space, so felt safe. Lovely, helpful staff and the usual great choice of drinks. Was great to get back there and looking forward to our next visit.
N. B.
Really nice. As Arnie said "I'll be back "
P. M.
Crowded but staff work very hard and are lovely.
J. H.
Really nice bar, a little hidden gem, awesome decor, lots of beer choice really good feel to the place.
T. S.
Nice ambiance and cosy. The beer tasting paddle was a little disappointing as all 4 beers were probably body temperature and overall fairly unexciting, although the 2 stouts were better than the lager(?) and ale. I wouldn't let that discourage you from visiting, however, as there's a lot of good beers on tap and in the fridge. Staff were very accommodating too.
m. k.
Under the Iron bridge dock area. Good choice of ales and food available . Friendly staff.
E. P. 7.
If you want to taste many different beers...starting from traditional Brown Ale!
H. B.
Went here on Sunday for drinks and a meal. It has its own micro brewery with in the premises and has a very good selection of real ales. If you love real ale then this is a great place to find a new favorite pint. The food here is gorgeous.
We had lamb Sunday lunch which was delicious, only drawback was not enough gravy and when asked for more gravy it never arrived, finished my lunch quite dry which is a shame. Communication lost somewhere??
There are toasted sandwiches which have amazing fillings. Interior is very pleasant, relaxing and lots of space. Very modern but sophisticated. Overall a fabulous place to visit. Will definitely return soon.!
c. d.
Great beers, amazing fish platter, friendly staff, nice decor and great atmosphere! Highly recommend
J.
Good atmosphere. Reasonably priced
D. B.
Very busy. Staff brilliant. Service exceptional.
M. C.
Currently my favourite bar in Newcastle, great staff, great menu, relaxed feel and really cool roof top bar (under the Tyne Bridge, but don't worry about Kittiwakes - they've got it covered - literally). A must visit in the City in my view.
G. G.
Awesome looking place, great food and drinks. Service has no flaws and so all around, brilliant.
s. W.
Nice pub good beer fast service
j. k.
Great friendly service. Lots of choice, reasonably priced. Oh and occasionally gets surprising visitors. Johnny Depp is a legend.
A. C.
If you like your beer, this place is excellent. I love the trendy decor and it's got a lovely feel. Not crazy priced and a good mix of clientele. Ticks all the boxes. Well staffed too and they know the beers. Foods is pretty good too; better than normal 'pub' food
J. M.
Excellent beer selection including some of their own that are brewed right there and the food was incredible. I recommend the short-rib burger and the fish and chips (haddock and when in Rome). Also very accommodating to a larger group with a second bar upstairs with a terrace.
A. K.
Great Pints and a nice Location.
D. G.
Vibrant friendly pub with magnificent bar stuff, decorated beautifully and some great music to tap along to, if we visit Newcastle again, this will. Be the place we come back to
F. S.
Nice place for a real ale. Quiet and friendly.
S. P.
Great pub, nice atmosphere. Really good selection of beer and not too overcrowded.
G.
If you like your craft beers and sharing platters, they offer both. With a taster board of 4 small beers, you can try from the beers brewed on site, together with a choice of guest ales. Good setting, good service and best to book a table in advance, particularly if you wish to have some food.

Really nice bar, great selection of beers
M. G.
This is a Covid review, but I gotta say this pub is handling it very well. Fantastic range of Wylam brews and just a beautiful place to drink at, that's extremely welcoming and comfortable. Definitely a spot for pre drinks or even a chill date :)
T. E.
In my opinion the best bar and restaurant in the whole of Newcastle! Could not fault the food . Constantly changing menu means you have to go back . Also have there own micro brewery which is really interesting. Maybe not the easiest place to locate being directly under a bridge but worth hunting for .
C. T.
Very busy but no loud music. Plenty of interesting and unusual foods options, from bar snacks to real cooking. Good vegan / veggie choices. Excellent range of proper beers, ciders and lagers. Smart interior.
J. A.
Buzzing, dog-friendly pub with a great selection of beers. Nice, quieter bar and outdoor section upstairs too.
J. B.
Excellent selection of mega pints.
P. J. W.
Stylish brew pub, with a great range of beers and very good food. Terrace right under the Tyne Bridge is worth visiting too.
N. V.
This is the place to be if you are a football fan. The atmosphere is so lively one gets the feeling he is at a football stadium but in a good way. Quality draught beers and bottle selection, tasty pub food and lots and lots of smiling faces. The pub is located very close to the famous Tyne Bridge, hence the name and the Quayside walk. Recommend a visit and a drink when you are next in Newcastle.
J. C.
Lovely friendly pub. Staff really helpful however this is the second time I have ordered the Sunday lunch which would have been perfect had it been hot. The only suggestion I can make is to serve it on a hot plate with hot food. Unable to finish my meal as it was stone cold. However the other 3meals served to friends were perfect.
N. H.
Very nice as always. Good beer. Friendly staff
S. C.
Busy pub and Excellent food. Burger definitely hit the spot. A busy place, best to reserve a few days in advance for a Saturday which we did. Which moves me on to a mention to the staff. Had to deal with some awkward people who were unwilling to move despite a reservation and the polite asking from said staff. We got there at a table away from those folks. A nice vibrant pub with excellent asahi and peroni lager 👌
R. B.
Fantastic looking place. Great selection of beers on draught and in bottles. Upstairs there's a balcony/beer garden which is sheltered by the Tyne bridge as the place sits directly beneath it.
Always a favourite of mine for some after-work drinks!
P. S.
An ale lovers dream. So much selection. I've only ever been on an evening, its always been busy. They do have several seating areas (booths, terrace, roof top terrace). Nice décor. Not sure what food, if any they do.
K. O.
Good choice of beer, and the pies looked awesome.
G. K.
Excellent food, 'proper' portions and perfectly kept range of superb beers. All at very reasonable prices. Second time visiting this pub, with a three-year gap in between, and it's just as good as last time.
I. P.
Great place. Good beer. Directly under the Tyne Bridge but you'd never know it.
T. L.
One of the oldest and most popular micro brewery's in Newcastle offering a wonderful range of ales and ciders. The building sits directly beneath the Tyne Bridge and offers an expansive interior as well as outer roof space from which you can experience the iconic green structure of Tyneside thunder overhead. We visited on a warm day and after having our temperatures taken and sharing contact details we were fortunate to get a table in the lower side terrace. The staff were very efficient and adhered to all of the covid-19 regulations. Tables were clean and service was quick. One of those plain fronted gems which come to life as soon as you step inside.
T. D.
I love this bar! Just lovely, cosy and good gins and beer. The first floor roof terrace is where to...so pretty
L. A.
Amazing place. Used to drink there before the refurbishment. Done an excellent job with the place and the selection of beer and food is fantastic. Great prices for quality service and product. I really recommend for any ale connoisseur to get the tasting planks they offer. Any choice of four ales for five pounds. Deal of the decade.
D. s.
Looks like a dive from the outside. How looks deceive. Step inside and you are in for a treat. Great food, the beer battered oysters are magnificent. The flat iron steak cooked to perfection served with chips to die for. All washed down with some excellent beers, the Wake Up Call being the stand out for me. The staff and service are also first class.
M. C.
Looking at this place from the outside you think it's possibly an old public toilet or something, we almost walked past! However on e'tering it is a very nice pub with its own microbrewery. And although we didn't eat here the menu looked very unusual and very tasty.
Q. B.
I love this place. Atmosphere is always good. Staff are always good. Beer is always great. Food is good. And there is a small brewery in the back of the pub. How cool is that? This is a great watering hole in Newcastle.
D. M.
Impressed. Have been before for beers (of which there is a great variety), but went for Sunday lunch. Whilst they had run out of 2 of the traditional meats, the pork that was left was very good and the portions generous.
The main menu was also sampled and the meals and desserts were also very good.
We will be back, a little earlier, to try some of the beef before it all goes.
R.
Sunday lunch is unreal. I usually like my beef well-done and it's medium-rare here but I'd definitely give it a go as I'm almost converted. Staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is great. The roasted carrot is especially good.
C.
One of my favourite pubs in Newcastle. The food is lovely, it's all very nice pub/bistro style. The beers are also great, they have a huge selection and it changes fairly often so if you're a bit of a beer aficionado this is a great place. They have outdoor heaters and lots of seating too, it does get quite busy most of the time and it's a bit pricey but a great pub.
D. J. S.
I loved this place - hiding underneath the Tyne Bridge which looms over it like an alien spaceship, this quirky place has a wide range of good beers. Don't get too confused about the name - it does have "Newcastle Arms" chiseled into the stonework above the front window.
D. N.
Nice bar, always a decent atmosphere.
R. N.
Lovely building and ambiance. Only drank but the food that was coming out looked good.
S. E.
Lovely friendly place but Sunday lunch was a disappointment. I ordered Lamb, very nice but only got 3 very small slices. Husband ordered the pork, literally no pork only fat, i questioned it only to be told of a customer it's belly pork. It did not state that on the menu so I asked if there was any better bits only to be told that was the last if the pork. Obviously been served the scraps. No apology given. Vegetables were delicious, 1 roast potatoe. Costly for 12.95
C. G.
Good burger and excellent wine choice. My partner declared that her fish and chips were very good.
R. S.
Amazing food and drink in an amazing setting. The chefs here are doing really interesting things with their ingredients making for an engaging and unique menu. Possibly my new favourite bar in town.
R. R.
The temperature of the wine is absolutely perfect and the body and flavour most wonderful. We shared the meat and fish platter which was a mutually tasty affair. Well worth a visit.
P. W.
Great pub, its huge inside though, cosy too. If you are tall, just watch your head on the outdoor heaters.
S. L.
Excellent food with large (possibly a bit too large) portions. An unusual and inventive menu with good seafood choices. Pub brews it's own excellent beers . Really good place to go would highly recommend.
T. K.
This is probably my favorite spot in Newcastle! You might not expect it from the outside or upon stepping into the joint, but the food is absolutely fantastic! My first visit I went in expecting just a standard pub, and to start, the beer selection is quite good - partnering with Wylam gives them an immediate leg up over others just slinging John Smith and other swill for cheap. We had snacks, fried kimchi balls and pig’s head croquettes, which were amazing... so that brought us back yesterday for a Good Friday afternoon lunch, and it was as expected - delicious. I can’t recommend the place enough, good beers, incredible food - doesn’t get much better than that!
D. M.
I've been to this pub a few times now and every time I've thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The decor in there is fresh and spacious, the selection of craft ales are fantastic, especially their own ales which are brewed on-site, and the staff are always in good spirit. The bar has outside space downstairs and upstairs, the upstairs is particularly impressive with a large seating area perfect for summer drinks and heaters for when it goes a little colder (essential for someone who likes to sit outdoors). It's a little pricier than other places in Newcastle but you pay for the quality, both in service and product. I'd recommend this pub to anyone visiting Newcastle as it's in a great location and has a superb atmosphere.
J. R.
Top joint. The food is cracking and the beer selection also. Not a big place so don't hold out for somewhere to sit. The upstairs floor includes a nice outdoor area right underneath the Tyne Bridge, but of course it can be ruined by the smokers. Definitely worth a look. Real Ale heads take note.
J. J.
Lovely place. Great atmosphere. Great rooftop area. Worth a visit.
A. C.
Popular place. Good selection of real ales and loads of other stuff on what seemed like an unfeasibly long bar. Loved the artwork and brewery machines at the back of the pub. Regrettably, I was enjoying it all so much that I forgot to take photos to share.
P. G.
Interesting location, tucked under the bridge! Great beers, good prices, sampled quite a few!
J. G.
Many original fixtures. Lots of charm. Good choice of drinks. Nice staff. Good little hideaway beer garden out the back with heaters. It overlooks the ancient Newcastle walls.
d. m.
Lovely atmosphere, nice garden terrace upstairs for smokers and vapers. Great selection of ales, tavern ale is spot on. Try the tasting plank if you like real ales. Good menu too.
L. P.
Without a doubt one of my favourite places in Newcastle. Staff are always lovely and stunning/ quirky decor
J. v. d. B.
Another lovely gem on the Newcastle Qauys. You wouldn't think much given it's exterior and location underneath the Tyne bridge, but the interior is actually wonderfully decorated. There is a lot of space, 2 bars and a roof terrace with a great selection of drinks to boot. Definitely one to add to my favourites on the Quayside
L. L.
Friendly staff, decent selection of local beers and nicely done up inside
A. C.
One of the best pubs in Newcastle but the trouble is that everyone knows it so it can get really busy in here. Reasonably priced and they always have a great selection of real ales, including some they brew on premises. Upstairs they have some great outdoor space right underneath the Tyne Bridge which makes for a unique place to enjoy a drink or even some of the excellent food they have on offer.
J. M.
Doesn't look much from the outside but it is a really lovely place. Fabulous food menu and real ale. Sunday lunch looked amazing. Staff are brilliant and helpful. Well worth a visit.
A. G.
Family get together, excellent cheese board and nice beers ,very relaxing atmosphere stayed 2hrs .
B. S.
Lovely place, well located and good local ale selection
R. B.
Great microbrewery pub with a fabulous range of in house brewed, local and premium beers. Really unusual seasonal food by a great chef. Nice people. Amazing roof terrace right under the famous Tyne Bridge. Recommended
B. Y.
Got some pretty awesome beers going down here. Staff know their stuff and the food is pretty good too. If there's a tap takeover be sure to get there the first day as they sell out pretty quickly
P. C.
Good range of beers in warehouse-style brewpub. Sunday lunch is excellent too! Weekday menu also looks good but haven't tried it yet.
O. A.
One of the best bars in Newcastle. The bridge tavern is split up into four areas, downstairs bar area with plenty of seating. Casual atmosphere. Downstairs outside seating area, five tables or so which is quiet.
Upstairs bar area much smaller than downstairs, again cozy if you can grab a seat not many. Best part is the outside roof terrace which is directly under the Tyne Bridge. Plenty of seating and standing areas, patio heaters to keep you warm too.
B. S.
Excellent pub loads of atmosphere and character (not many pubs left like this in its original state) great place to meet friends.
They generally have some good beers on and the food is very good including Sunday roast...people always come back here...
M. D.
Great atmosphere, great staff, great selection of beers and wine. I just wish it was larger so that we could've brought our whole family.
A. L.
Previously the Newcastle Arms the tavern now has it's own micro brewery and stunning interior. It's choice of locally sourced ales is endless and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. It is directly underneath the Tyne Bridge and has an outside heated area upstairs with a second bar and great views.
A. D.
Nice bar with good atmosphere
J. N.
Good beer, decent prices, music is quieter upstairs. Downstairs music is loud but not ear splitting. Wish more pubs were like this place
M. H.
Great beer selection, friendly staff, felt like they were handling the COVID restrictions very conscientiously and it didn't impact our experience at all.

Had a great time here while visiting Newcastle recently, great vibe and wasn't ridculously packed the Saturday night we went but people were coming in when we left so maybe it's a late night place.
Check out the upstairs bar, that's where we wound up. Nice view and bartenders up there weren't slammed so service was quick.
I'd go back next time I'm in Newcastle, highly recommend 👍👍👍👍
R. M.
Excellent beer, a bit hipster ish, not cheap, but these days that's not a surprise. Good bar staff, very much like the place.
S. R.
Really good food here and it has vegetarian options for sunday roasts which was great. Just a note to the kitchen staff, our vegetarian sunday dinner was missing gravey. To be honest we would have been happy with bisto as its suitable for veggie's. If we had that it would have been 5 star. Great food, great price, awesome beer, and plenty of options for most.
P. B.
Great in-house beers. Platters are a total joy. Had the fish sharing platter; monk fish cheeks and mackerel paté to mention two highlights in a well decorated night sky.
N. B.
Nice feel to the place.
Beer a bit cloudy but tastes fine.
Wasn't expecting too much from the food but supprisingly it was excellent.
Have been here before but it was heaving so we left after one drink but tonight Tues it is just right.
J. T.
Great place to drink , with an exceptional selection of craft ales.
D. H.
Beer selection v poor. 47 IPA's and 3 sweet stouts. Food was awesome - recommend the black pudding ; nicely spiced.
E. V.
I was here last night for my Christmas meal and me and a friend were stood at the bar which was quite busy so people were in close proximity. There was an incident with a guy behind us who was very inappropriate with my friend, her being too embarrassed to speak up I let one of the bar maids know and she had told her colleague who went and got the doorman, the other girl then came back over to me and asked me who it was but by this time the guy was rushing out with his little chums. I just want to say a massive thank you to the two girls (forgot to get their names!) for handling the situation so well. Also the food was absolutely amazing as usual! Thank you again. Ellie x
L. K.
Some really delicious food paired with interesting beers. I had the mussels and a side of charred broccoli - really delicious. My colleagues all cleared their plates. Highly recommended!
C. S.
Very reliable and interesting beer selection, and the food is great, too (I highly recommend the haggis and quail's egg toastie). Also, plenty of outside space (on both levels) for when the weather is nice.
O. N.
Sunday dinners are awesome, as are the fish and chips. Nice staff, nice beer. Just a bit of a fight for a table - fortunately the clientele tend to be kind enough to share
A. H.
Fantastic place to go early or late evening - beautiful homemade food and plenty of seating areas if you arrive early. Excellent place to sit and have a drink as well, the upstairs patio area is particularly nice.
T. V. G.
Great food and nice beers, we had the fish and chips and the beef pie and they were delicious! The personnel os good at recommending a good drink for your food. If you wat to order your have to do that at the bar.
N. S.
Great relaxed atmosphere, usually buzzing on a Friday night as it's a popular post-work venue. They make great use of their terrace, with space heaters ensuring the area can be used all year round.
C. H.
Never ate here but would definitely try next time. Great atmosphere - warm and friendly and great barstaff. Great selection of beers at reasonable prices. Would definitely come back.
D. W. (. 5.
Fascinating place. Interesting selection of beers and its own microbrewery at the back. Haven't tried the menu but it looks good and varied. Well worth a visit.
S. M.
Micro brewery with an awesome selection of craft beers from all over the world. Great food, cosy atmosphere, loved it. One of Newcastles most well known pubs. Will definitely be back...
M. Z.
Stylish decoration with large space. The cocktail can be improved.
J. B.
Amazingly made roast with the best beef I've ever had in a pub, 10/10 quality. Only thing is i could have eaten 4 of them, was still hungry. Edit-im 200cm tall
D. P.
Great pub tucked under the time bridge. Has its own brewery on site and an excellent selection of ales. The upstairs terrace area is great in summer for enjoying a beer outside.
A. N.
Looks quite unassuming from the outside but inside was really pleasent. Good selection of beer on tap. Micro brewing fun in the back. Served an excellent Sunday lunch
K. S.
Good food, much better than usual pub fare. Good selection of beer, nicely kept. Lovely roof bar with its own smaller bar.
D. U.
Decent pub with a good selection of drinks well worth a visit
o. b.
A recent refurb. Great selection of beers. Great food. Can get busy. Has a fab outdoor terrace underneath the arches of the Tyne bridge. Quite pricey and a bit off the beaten track.
P. C.
In my opinion this is the best bar in Newcastle, the choice of beer is excellent and the food is amazing. If you are in the quayside area of Newcastle, I would definitely seek it out.
M. S.
Nice pub and great beers. With such a small place, we did come out smelling of someone else's fish lunch, obviously won't be an issue every time.
J. R.
I used to love this bar, its always got a really strange smell wen you go in, maybe cos they brew on the premises? I prefer the town wall its sister pub, im not keen on the quayside area so that puts me off, if you can get a seat upstairs, great view of under the tyne bridge 🌉
K. M.
Quirky looking bar under the looming Tyne Bridge, large open plan room with two outside areas lend a to a lively flowing atmoshere. The quality selection of Ales and spirits attracts a trendy crowd of various ages. Well worth a look in
E. K.
Friendly atmosphere, terrace perfect for summer evenings but heated during the rest of the year so still functional. Typical pub. Great selection of wines.
S. T.
It's alright, food was reasonable as were the drinks. Bit Hipsterville which isn't a problem, but you may or may not agree. Staff a touch over familiar for some, but personally I think it works well. Probably just go for drinks next time.
N. E.
Great food. Awesome range of Beers and fantastic service all wrapped up in a homely comfortable atmosphere. Visit and enjoy,😎😀
j. w.
Went for Guinness, will come back for Guinness
L. R.
Micro brewery in open sight. Really lovely interior, helpful staff and great beer. Didn't eat there but the food looked and smelled fabulous. A great recommendation.
P. J.
Great menu and good beer choice. Had a very enjoyable meal with friends. Party of 7 and all starters and mains came together
P. B.
Unbelievable range of drinks - even the small upstairs bar has a great selection. They even brew their own beers! Decor is beautiful too.
Z. G.
Amazing service - offered a pre-booked two hour slot, temperature checks, LOADS of space in between tables, amazing staff and delicious food, we were super impressed!
A.
Excellent. Brilliant food at a good price (for central Newcastle) and a good selection of alcohol. Definitely worth a visit!
S. F.
Excellent beer! Some brewed on the premises and some from other local micro-breweries!
Quality food too! Freshest haddock I've ever eaten (probably still swimming that morning! 😁)
C.
Great beer and food. V popular so it can be tricky to get a seat but you can book a table if you're planning to eat.
T. M.
Great pub friendly staff
G. M.
Great pub, one of the best in Newcastle. Good selection of ales and spirits. Pretty cool that the beer garden's cover is essentially the Tyne Bridge!
B. S.
Fantastic craft ale bar, lots of choice and happy to provide tasters. They have a food menu but we only had time for a few drinks.
D. F.
Lots of beers great pub, has nice roof terrace
M. H.
Lively bar with lots of ales and drink choices. Good vibe at weekends and reasonable option for food including Sunday roast. Has outside terrace outside with heaters. Dogs allowed during the day.
K. R.
Cool pub with a rooftop beer garden (I went at night but it would've been great in the sun). Reasonably priced beers as well as having cool artwork on the walls and having some of their microbrewery on display
G. F.
Great bar Great atmosphere
S. E.
Large selection of ales, great food and atmospher.
D. M.
Great beers and a great atmosphere!
I. C.
Outstanding place for a pint and some food. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere. I went on a Monday with a group of friends and it was busy s recommend booking.
J. M.
Lovely little pub in the Heart of Newcastle. Nice outdoor space
R. P.
Staff are brilliant, lovely environment been a regular here for years and it's not about to change any time soon, always a range of new beers, ales and IPA's to try aswell as their menu which is always kept fresh and up to date and tastes divine highly recommend to anyone visiting Newcastle or any locals who for whatever reason haven't visited also dog friendly
D. B.
Brilliant bar with a great choice ales and beer. One of my personal favorites, has a great atmosphere and a good choice of food. Service is good as well.
G. M.
One of my favourite place to have a drink in Newcastle. A very wide selection of cask, keg and bottled beer. The staff is friendly and the athmosphere is fantastic =).
S. B.
Initially I was a bit miffed having stood at the bar for 5 minutes while seemingly being ignored by bar staff,it wasnt at all busy and people just walking in were getting served immediately.Upon getting served I pointed this out to the barman who to be honest, was excellent. He apologised profusely and I left drinks in hand feeling more positive. We headed upstairs to meet friends and although the weather was poor,we were able to stay on the roof top terrace in comfort. The space heaters were working well and the place itself was very friendly and welcoming.Clean toilets were another plus point and the drinks fine/reasonably priced. After an iffy start,i really enjoyed this bar.My first visit and definitely not my last.
D. W.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, always encouraging you to try beers before you buy. Bar snacks are very tasty, plus there's a tiny microbrewery at the back of the pub.
D. K.
Some very heavy brews here...up to 8% SG. 10 of us visited mid afternoon. Nearly empty before we arrived. I imagine, when full at night, it will generate a good atmosphere.
s. h.
Looked great but I'll never know how good the food is thanks to chaos in relation to table bookings and completely disorganised staff. No bitter on! Really, in a British pub? I won't be back but then I don't imagine it will trouble them as the place was heaving
P. F.
Great pub, great venue, great beer, great music. Nuff said
A. J.
Awesome take on pub grub, great bar with a Good range of local craft ales and beers. Wish it served food later (finishes at 7). Veggies--skip this one!
C. K.
Lovely staff and service. Great atmosphere. The beer was amazing as always. The Sunday lunch was nice, although a little cold.
G. T.
Really great pub, but staff could be more engaging with customers and show interest in the beer.
The night I went they were preoccupied by a large group
A. T.
Great pub, great micro brewery beers, great beer terrace upstairs, nice look and feel to the place.. big fan of it and a welcome edition to the quayside were theirs a canny drinking circuit down their now

I. B.
Fantastically cosy place. Awesome beers and ciders. Very nice food and dog friendly. I moved here from another city and this is my favorite pub in Newcastle.
M. T.
Great food, great beer, laid back atmosphere and staff who know their business. Old books used for decor so on a wet Newcastle afternoon it cannot be bettered.
p. s.
One of the best pubs in Newcastle, great food and drink.
S. B.
A truly excellent bar in a great location under the Tyne bridge, though the star of the show is the beer offering, with Wylam on tap and an interesting, fast-changing cask selection.
C. W.
Good atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent choice of beers and a very tasty sharing platter of fish.
D. L.
Great beer, great pub food, great atmosphere. Lovely upstairs beer garden with heating

L. C.
Great food, staff & service. Had the fish platter, but also ordered chips on the side. Incredibly good value for money
A. H.
Great pub tucked under the Tyne Bridge, with outdoor dining area downstairs and roof terrace on the first floor, only slight negative a little pricy on the beer
B. J.
Great selection of real ale cask beers. Well worth trying a plank of beers.
Great food & tremendous outdoor seating area upstairs.

K. M.
Great selection of drinks, lovely inside and a great atmosphere. Bar staff very friendly too.

Good selection of ales and ipa's etc. But this place gets very busy at times and very very noisy. Impossible to talk to your friends (or talk to yourself if alone) in such circumstances.

Very nice pub. Dropped a star as they served a cask ale that was far far beyond its best. Could've pickled onions in it.
A. A.
The only real pub to be found down on the quayside, and even if it wasn't the food is delicious, the drink selection vast, and the staff top notch. Don't bother going anywhere else.
B. Y.
