D. M.First time in this pub, greeted by a very pleasant barman. Looks like it has had a good refurb during lock down, looks good, with plenty of space inside and some tables outside at the rear. Not a huge menu but everyone will be able to find something, beef shin and ale pie is good. All the staff are very helpful and polite. Somewhere to try if you fancy a change.

A.Second time eating there and can honestly say we struggle to find somewhere as tasty! The Sunday dinners are to die for, staff are very pleasant and accommodating. We 100% will be returning for Sunday dinner again next week.
C. B.Lovely inside and clean. Had the 12 hour slow cooked roast beef dinner. It was OK, but nothing to shout about. I will go back to try the lamb shank. £12 for the dinner, quite expensive so I was expecting great flavours. My mam did enjoy her carrot as it was lovely and soft for her, swede, cabbage, broccoli, creamy but a bit lumpy mash, nice Yorkie and roast potatoes in beef dripping with some kind of herbs, which I didn't enjoy. But great service.
L.I came here for the 1st time today with my husband and 2 children. 3 of us got a Sunday dinner and my daughter got tomato penne pasta with garlic bread. The portions were huge. The dinners were amazing! One of the best dinners I've ever had. The lady who served us was lovely, really friendly and polite. Would have loved to have tried a pudding but we were all so full off dinner. We will definitely be back.

We both really enjoyed our meal none of the generic frozen rubbish you so often get these days .Staff were very friendly and attentive and although the food was freshly cooked we didn't wait long for it . A. H.Went for Sunday lunch for 1st time the young female waitress was nice and helpful the young lad on the other hand didn't no what was on the menu when trying to order.
Starter was nice dinner was nice only issue was veg 4 of us had 1 dish of veg trying to share 2 bits if broccoli and cauliflower between 4 was a bit mean and you need 2 bowls for 4 people.
Had pudding of the day it was very dry it had been under hot lamp to long would return as dinner it's self was lovely.

J. g.Always seems busy,and staff always friendly. But is there a problem with the glass washer as the john smiths glass given to me had clearly signs of poorly cleaned glassware? A must in my book for any pub. I did not mention it at the time of my visit as,mentioned earlier,the place was very busy and the girls were doing their utmost to seat and serve customers. I must add,this on it's own, would not stop me from visiting again.

Fantastic food, usually a deal of the day where you get 2 of something for x amount of money such a good deal to give this place a try. Went for 2 steaks today, 25 quid with bottle of wine. The plates where full of food and a good quality definatley fresh not frozen 10oz steak was brought. Cooked a requested, medium. Good friendly place this is, value for money is to a tea and selection of drinks including ales!

The few times have been the place is comfortably busy with live band on, good service with a range of drinks options as you’d expect. Haven’t sampled the food but have heard very positive reports from friends.

E. M.I was stranded and alone. The hotel that had been booked for me was not in St. Ives. I’d arrived late and I was tired.
I started driving toward Penzance, my next destination, and I saw a light on at this pub.
I bravely knocked on the door and a nice man opened the door. I explained my plight and he graciously and so kindly let me sleep in their upstairs spare bedroom! Wow.
What can I say other than that Jon and Mark are very top blokes and they really did rescue me. I’m eternally grateful.
The next day I was able to have their single brick cottage and it was my favourite room of my entire holiday.
If you want hospitality, great food and beautiful Cornish countryside views, stop in here for a stay. You’ll love it. Thank you.

L. W.'The Engine Inn',its original name, was returned to the pub after the departure of the arrogant idiots who insisted the bar was named 'The Original Masons' ( they had the wrong village!!). Not only was its name returned but also the welcome and typical Geordie bon homie. Well worth a visit.
