Top quality local boozer here. Working away the area and found this place courtesy of GM. reminded me of when pubs were pubs, pool tables, dart board, and a decent atmosphere. Friendly bar staff and decent grub.

Has had a recent refurb and has a contemporary London Soho vibe. The drinks are standard but the food is good and competitively priced. I will mention that my parents soooo.....loved the gammon and chips (still raving about it, days later). The staff and service was amazing; very considerate and helpful. The only downfall is that Thursday is quiz night and I find it too loud but I guess I'm either old, hearing sensitive or both. 🤣

A really super friendly local hostelry with a great atmosphere...highly recommended if you enjoy a fine pint, live sport and good pub scran. One of the few pubs with a pool table, darts and, for the weirdo tourists, a shuffle board. The staff are really good fun, always seem pleased to welcome you back and the manager Rob is probably the second best kisser in Jesmond (although his wing-man Mark ain't bad either). Get yourself in for a most enjoble wee session of supping and necking. Top, top place...Easily the best pub in Jesmond by a country centimetre. Enjoy.

Well over priced for a local bar but good quality, drinking here for 30+ years not recognisable from the local it once was when Peter managed it . NEW REFURB. Not a clue why breweries keep doing this, not impressed at all the charm it had has been ripped out now it's same old same old did not try beer as they had no crisps, opening a bar without snacks available 😳

I had a very enjoyable Sunday roast here - the servings were generous, and the food has great flavor. Roast potatoes were really excellent, I'd recommend getting an extra serving on the side. Ambience was good, and the service was friendly. There was a 45 min wait for food, but it was busy at the time. A good spot to watch the sports.

We were staying on Osborne road but everywhere was booked up ,just walked to the metro and out the other side to this pub. Great find we had a top quality ,full English breakfast,the chef was happy to do us toast instead of chips. Staff friendly and helpful , spotlessly clean .

Been going to this pub for over 30 years (yes I'm old!) & I must admit I like the recent refurb! What I'm not so keen on is the fact that the prices seem to have shot up, unless you're a student getting 20% off. Who's paying for that then?

Such a lovely atmosphere from start to finish. We got served by a lovely gent called Marc, Explained what offers the pub had available and was nice enough to take our order at the table. Great bar and excellent food. New food menu is pleasant plenty to pick from.

Great for watching football. Loud and loads of screens, little bit expensive but what you'd expect for Jesmond. The reason for loosing the star was that the mens toilet upstairs are probably the worst toilets I've ever seen in a pub the amount of damp is a health hazard, and the floor was an inch deep in piss (presumably)

Found this lal pub when looking for a shop on NYE, decided to go in and for sure was the best one we’d been to that night. All bar staff were lovely and the drinks were great too. Unfortunately there were a lot of self entitled people at the pub complaining, as they were understaffed which explains some of the bad reviews that have been left. Big thanks to the 2 gentleman behind the bar working tirelessly all night in COVID times and on NYE. I’d definitely return in a heartbeat.

Always the first stop for a few pints off the metro for a night in Jesmond. Usually get a Guinness but might try some of the other options they have on draught or from the local area. Fully rate the atmosphere and having pool tables upstairs is great for friends to play on. Recommended.

We were in here on a Friday afternoon, about 1pm, quiet pub, staff friendly, clean and comfortable. We ordered a pizza sharing platter which was nice but 5 chicken wings between 2 doesn't go, especially when the picture of the meal has 8 wings on it. Still, food was good and a decent price.

Thanks Mr Elliot, came over from Liverpool and weren’t expecting much from Newcastle, especially after their performance in the Prem, but here we go. Was a cold December night and I had a thirst only eighteen litres of draft beer could quench. A light in the tunnel guided me to the warmth of Lonsdale Hotel Newcastle. There he was - the Messiah of Booze. I walk over to the bar unbeknowethed of what was to become. Next thing I knew my mouth was welded to the glass, time after time The Messiah replenished the glass of the mana of English men, the fuel of domestic violence cases and what separates man from boy. Balancing between pork pies, pints and passing out the Messiah draws a breath, “last orders”. I pull myself together to lob my pint glass at the girl ordering espresso martinis, bosh - headshot, and thrust my body past the swines ordering dark fruits. The final Stella. Suckled down with delight. I grab my jacket to go catch my train home. Arriving in Lime Street Station should have felt like home, but home is where the heart is and my heart is in Lonsdale Hotel bar. (Photo of the final pint attatched)

Nice pub, think it has been upgraded pretty recently. Good choice of ales, lots of TV screens for sports and some pool tables. We were in on a night when there was football on and it got really busy so there was quite a long wait to get to the bar and you could hardly find a seat. At other times it is fine though.

Good starter pub, good food apparently (I've heard they're better than other chain pubs). I'm not one to comment since I haven't eaten here, but it looks nice when I've seen others eating, very pub-esk. There's usually a deal on the meals too. There's plenty of seating, further upstairs. All sports are shown here on a plethora of tvs and projectors, there's bandits, pool and quiz machines too. All in all a proper good pub.

The Lonsdale is in a good location and has been around for a lot of years. I will admit to not visiting very often these days, but perhaps that gives me some perspective. The pub looks very much like I remember it, which is not necessarily a good thing as it still looks like a bog-standard 80s pub. The beer is reasonable and the staff friendly, but it just doesn't offer any particular character or anything to make it stand out. I might have stretched it to a 3.5* if that was feasible.

during my walk to the metro station i decided to stop off and grab a bit to eat i pre booked a table and arrived and was welcomed and was escorted to my table it was clean and in line with the current Covid-19 quidlines so i ordered using the app had a hunters chicken and a j2o the food was delivered hot and looked and tasted amazing proper pub food it took 10 mins from order to receiving my order that was extremely quick i also ordered a chocolate fudge cake and that too was delicious the staff were amazing and very talkative and took the time to explain the system during the coronavirus pandemic couldn't ask for a better time will be back
