Reviews of The Mile Castle
P. P.
Great pub. 3 floors, all with different atmospheres, even through the week. I was last there Thursday evening and could hear rock n roll bingo going on up on top floor which sounded like lots of fun. Great prices for location. I've not tried the food so can't comment on that.
A. C.
Quick service and plenty going on inside entertainment wise. Good prices as usual on cider and fosters
P. M.
Popped in on last working day of 2022 for lunch with some colleagues. Food was good. Was not too busy but had a health amount of customers. Coffee has free refill which is always a bonus when you can't have a beer. Nice.
R. P.
Needed to move upstairs away from the noise.
Wish I had gone for large breakfast. Small one was really small and got disappointed with 1spoon full of beans and a 50p size bacon.
K. G.
Went for breakfast cos a Spoons breakfast is always good. First was told by a guy clearing up menus that breakfast was over, despite it clearly stating on the door it was served til 12. When my breakfast arrived, it had no bacon and the eggs and beans were cold. Not good enough ! 😡 …
G. S.
If this pub can keep its costs down we can others follow its full all the time and when I pass other pubs in town they r empty 5 pounds for a beer people can't afford it
S. D.
Go to many weatherspoon branches so familiar with the fan steak options and my fav Cocktails. Good for lunch meeting or later on in the night to go out for drinks . Large place with many levels think 4 ... so lot of seating n was good time for food service. 😋 highly recommend …
D. O.
Great value for money! Realised I left my back pack with my 1.5k mac book in. Rang the pub and told it was behind the bar. Claire made sure I got it, I offered her a drink to say thank you but she politely refused. Thank you so much claire for making sure I got it! A true Good Samaritan
J. D.
I forgot how cheap drinks could be...Great for buying the rounds. Dancefloor is usually pretty funny. Is Spoons though so does attract the types who want to ruin people's nights.
n. h.
Good venue however avoid the third floor evenings as it turns into a disco by playing loud music from about 8. Fine if you want to dance but rubbish if your eating a quiet meal!
J. T.
Very nice it has some of my favourite beers at affordable prices. Also with the pictures on the walls it is very informative about the history of Newcastle, which I like.
J. G.
Friendly staff and customers. It does get VERY busy on a Saturday night though. Food was nice and delivered quickly.
t. j.
Popped in for a quick dessert and a cuppa with my friend and was served by a friendly, polite man named Aaron he was a credit to the company.
R. I.
Decent Spoons. All the features we know and love. Was very busy and could of done with a bit of a tidy up but the staff were flat out. A good experience with standard for and drinks. What's not to like?
m. h.
Busy as usual but quick service. Good range of drinks and food. Tasty pizza and halloumi fries ...
Toilets downstairs were out of order and its many stairs to the top ones!!! Overall a good stop off meet up place.
E. P. W. (.
We like all Spoons, this one has it nailed on. Fair enough probably busier than usual because of rugby's Magic Weekend but they are very organised to deal with a huge influx of customers. Visiting Spoons a lot nowhere have we seen app orders dealt with so efficiently .
The pub itself is over 3 floors and thankfully has a toilet on the ground floor.
Hats off to the staff they work so well together in a nice atmosphere
S. F.
The Mile Castle offers good value and a decent range of drinks. It's sizable, service is reliable and it is near Newcastle Central Station. This is a decent meeting place.
D. M.
The pub was quite busy at lunchtime when we arrived. Most tables being used, but once we got seated, good service at the bar and food arrived promptly. I had planned to use the Wetherspoons app but our table and the ones next to it had no visible table numbers. However this was not a problem ordering at the bar.
A. H. (.
Nice place, lovely staff, great service.
H.
One of the nicest spoons we have been in todate. Beer spot on and the food placed nicely not just squashed from the packed onto the plate. Chief took time to make sure the plates look good. Panini's not flattened with an inch of its life. Very clean no sticky tables or menus.
Staff very helpful, polite and pleasant even in the face of some drunken unruly customers.
L. P.
Really busy pub, mind it must be the closest one to St James's Park and Newcastle were playing at home on Tues night when we went in. Friendly atmosphere, nice staff, nothing was too much trouble.
J. H.
I don't normally review chains, but the service here is always excellent - best of any Wetherspoons I've been in! Massive props to all the staff!
L. J.
Cracking Wetherspoons, me and my Wife had a really good night out last Monday. All ages in there spread over 3 floors with a bar on each! No bother just a great atmosphere and the staff were brilliant! Thanks for a great night 👍🏻 …
d. f.
Must have been different kitchen person today. Normally OK. Food had to go back twice!!! Manager was brilliant and handled the situation well. Will defo go back. Not sure about ordering food again though if I'm honest.
M. D.
Grimy but cheap. Fairly efficient in getting the food to us. Your shoes will stick to anything after 5 mins on their carpet. We be were there for 45mins, so I scaled a 5 story building with just the stickiness on my shoes.
C. P.
Great place , we usually go to third floor a bit quieter. Nice drinks good prices lush Tikka Masala. A great afternoon plenty chat and good company.
G. T.
Had a great 2 sessions in here. Drinks reasonable in price so was food & staff were very accommodating. Will certainly be back.
M. D.
Very well located for the shops and railway station.
Perfect please to eat and drink.
A. C.
I always like a wetherspoons as they are cheap for food and drinks and cheerful too. 2 pitchers for £12 on cocktails. The Mile Castle were quick with drinks orders despite being very busy and cleared tables quick too. Spread over 3 floors. We were advised which floor would be our best bet for finding enough seats when we were greeted at the entrance.
L. C.
A weatherspoons with 3 floors! And a dance floor! What more could you want.
You could arrive for breakfast on the bottom floor, stay till lunch on the second floor, and then dance the night away after dinner & drinks on the top floor!
J. B.
Yea it's quite nice. It has lots of space ie you can always get a table. Food is also first class
N. P.
You get what you pay for. If you fancy a cheap drink / meal out weatherspoons has got you covered. Also bottomless coffee for just £1.35 can't be beaten!!
W. H.
Pleasant atmosphere, staff friendly and drinks very reasonable priced, food good too.
B.
Not a bad location but as with pretty much every member of staff I have ever encountered in various Wetherspoons, they were the usual sullen bunch. Customer service is always horrendous
J. C.
This is a Wetherspoons Pub so didn't expect to see a toilet on the first floor then there is an upstairs with a bar and then there's a 3rd floor with a bar, toilet and dance floor with a DJ AMAZING!
We need one in Birmingham
S. G.
Great food, good atmosphere
Compared to a lot of weatherspoons it's a lovely place to go
J. H.
Typical Wetherspoons. Interesting g old building. Good choice of beers. Food good. Excellent value.
P. D.
City centre Witherspoons - on a match day - just before Christmas 🎄
Cheap beer, cheaper food, lots of people enjoying the run in to Christmas ⛄ …
k. c.
Didn't have a meal here just had refreshing drink in garden on sunny day. Lovely garden, shame we were driving as would have been great to have sat there longer with few more drinks in lovely setting. Will certainly call again when next in area and maybe have a meal, too early for us to eat this time
R. n.
Great spoons as per usual, really busy but good food, good price and nice atmosphere
J. T.
Your big standard wetherspoons but can get quite busy, hard to find a seat at times but cheap drinks and cheap food.
D. G.
Had a lovely lunch with my hubby. Food was great. Staff were pleasant and very efficient. Will definitely be back there soon.
d.
The drinks were cheap but pizza came cold and there are tables under the stairs which gets all the dust and rubbish dropping down on.
S. T.
Lots of floors with bars good food good prices , lively.opposite central station
D. E.
Place was heaving as it was match day. Staff run off their feet. Felt sorry for them. They earned their money that day
R. W.
Drinks arrived quicker than a McDonald's delivery,Kevin was way to happy considering it was a miserable day.
Bit sad there was no tuna for my jacket potato so opted for the beans which were dryer than my dads ashes.
R. P.
Absolutely mental on a Saturday evening. Cracking crowd, cheap beer...DO NOT come here for a cosy chat!
W. B.
A typical weatherspoons pub. Massive building 3 floors. Usual cheap food and drink. Always visit when im in newcastle.
D. H.
A minute from the station. Great atmosphere great food and drink very cheap. I would recommend it to anyone.
l. r.
Great atmosphere, food really nice and reasonably priced drinks
A. J.
It's a Wetherspoons so you know what's in store. Decent value, busy on weekends and good service.
M. D.
Great start to my mates stag do, lovely breakfast great service all at great prices
P. S.
Visited many times in the past. Had a great breakfast here today. Fabulous value for money. Very busy as it was matchday.
D. B.
What a place, great people behind the bar as well. Interior is cozy, toilets are very clean. 5/5 recommend 💜 …
R. M.
Great atmosphere, nice staff, cheap beer, good food
L. O. E.
wetherspoons, good food, very affordable. Spacious eating, appropriate for family and kids the customer service was superb.
Good customer service, respectful and very helpful.
No parking on site, however there are street paid parking and the Gate parking within a walking distance of about 5 minutes.
Newcastle Central Station is very close, pubs and clubs within the area.
Edon Square is close by.
Idea place to eat after shopping or before going to clubs.
c. h.
Excellent breakfast. Two traditional, orange huice and bottomless cappuccino £5.07
M. T.
Nice three floors place. Standard offers. Well worth a visit if you want a pint for a cheap cost.
B.
Good place for food before the rugby, close to the stadium, friendly staff, would recommend.
D. K.
Good bar cheep as chips. Clean served fast even when chocka block. Great meeting place.
C. D.
Called in on Saturday morning for breakfast. The food arrived part cold and tables were dirty. My other half's eggs benedict was cold and the muffin part tough. The eggs on my breakfast were both cold and undercooked. It's a shame as the food was fine when I've been before. Certainly won't be returning.
A. A.
Prices for food and drink are very reasonable, wish more pubs had the same pricing . Decent filling meal
K. S.
Great food and drinks also good prices and friendly staff
A. B.
First time in the mile castle for a while and really great atmosphere. Only odd part about my visit was being asked if I wanted ice with my bottle of brown ale 🤣 …
C. D.
Superb location excellent value. Service a little slow but staff very friendly. Recommend.
T. V.
Typical Wetherspoons pub on many floors. Dance floor top and bottom.
a. O.
Great venue, near to the train station, clean and well ran, food was super quick coming, lovely staff very pleasant
J. S.
Love this Spoons. Loads of room, great food and drinks, nice staff.
R. B.
Huge spoons, had some good ales but they all ran out the night we stopped late Sunday after the toon played Tottenham. Quiz night Monday we joined in and had a laugh
L. A.
Had a lovely time at the Mile Castle, Staff and Manager Claire were very friendly and helpful.
M. H.
Very good service, quick and friendly but my fish was burnt to cinders, otherwise a pleasant experience
C. H.
Had a good meal here before and after the Great North Run cheap and cheerful as always with friendly and cheerful staff.
h. M.
Was well worth it
Staff were very good
Food consistently good
Well done weathespoons
A. P.
Wonderful lamb shank and tomatoes and basil soup.
Good service
Good cask beer to go with it.
Good value for the price!!!
C. S.
This place is always great for day drinking only thing that we expected is a little music in background but overall staff are polite, friendly and good at what they do. Place is lovely and clean 5 stars for that.
G. N.
Beer was okay/ quite good. Had a small pizza for lunch which was pretty rubbish though.
D. T.
Large Wetherspoons spread over 3 floors. Food orders were correct and prompt to arrive despite how busy it was. The colleagues were very friendly and helped with my queries. Would visit again if in town.
V. K.
The best for service and everything for customers satisfaction. The Staff are very supportive, they do much as they cam to support there customers.
j. J. T.
What an awesome night id highly recommend the place an the rock n roll bingo is such a laugh
A. E.
I love this please honestly, the reason for the three stars is it is very packed and you are check for ID at the door so you can't go in even if you're there for food. I will definitely go again though.
J. B.
A warm welcome and excellent service from Manager Claire. She managed to add a personal touch despite the pub being very busy. All the staff do a great job.
D. M.
Typical weatherspoons didn't have any drinks I fancied, and the food tasted of metallic substance, but me and the wife were cheered up by the couple who were standing at the bar feeling each others bums.
M. M.
Very busy but managed to get a table. Very efficient staff
H. E.
Stopped for a soft drink while waiting for the train. Nice enough but there was a smell like smelly feet throughout the upstairs. I like that they serve kombucha and kefir as alternatives to alcohol.
S. S.
We had a great meal here with the kids on a day out to Newcastle. The children's menu was surprisingly good with lots of healthy choices. Great value food and drink. And really near the train station. Would recommend
A. P.
Went on a busy evening after a work meeting but still managed to get a table easily enough. Decent range of drinks and helpful staff.
C. G.
A good weatherspoons, ordering was quick and easy and plenty of seating. Food cooked well and tasted nice
M. S.
Standard 'Spoons. Cheap servicable food, decent enough ale selection. Won't win many awards but it's half the price of anywhere else and definitely worth much more than the amount it costs.
R. W.
Was served by Daniel who was very cheerful and friendly .
I had the chargrilled chicken which was excellent. And prices very reasonable
j. s.
Spacious. With three floors. Very clean premises and toilets. Friendly and helpful bar staff. The range of beers and lagers, will satisfy most people and their prices are excellent.
κ. Λ.
nice building, service on three floors, very good service
J. H.
Great place for all occasions can meet and also can party! Cheap as well. In a great place to get to everywhere within walking distance
B. B.
Great food, good service and nice atmosphere
M. F.
Busy spoons pub, what can you great value, good atmosphere.
T. D.
Probably one of the best spoons in Newcastle, three stories filled with creepy men and sticky tables! The top floor turns into a club which is tragic, but I am glad middle age lasses are having a good time. Pints are super cheap and the service is really quick. Gets absolutely RAMMED on the weekend though, so try and get there early for a table
r. w.
It was a really busy late Saturday afternoon, could not really get moved on any of the floors which I suppose shows how popular the bar is. I always liked the bar and nothing has changed with reasonable offers on a wide variety of drinks and cocktails. Getting to the bar was a task in itself and although table service was available by the app I felt it was just as easy going to the bar. If I could make one suggestion is that it would be a filter system to get to the bar rather than a free for all and every man/woman in the hope you get served. The staff were doing a sterling job but couldn't really know who was next and you get the usual jump the Q and not worth making a fuss.
E. P.
Good variety of drinks at reasonable prices. Friendly staff.
V. H.
Brilliant service, food very good. Nice staff
T. B.
It's a Wetherspoons pub... They're all exactly the same. You know what you're gonna get.
P.
A quiet and pleasant place to have something to eat or a quick drink. Quite fun on the nights when they turn upstairs into a dancefloor. Great place to start on a night out!
L. C. A.
Good pub food service not the quickest really. Really friendly staff
m. j.
It's a Wetherspoons what more can you say...
This one is on three floors, and the top floor is cleared and turned into a club on a Friday and Saturday night, dancefloor a DJ well worth a visit!
r. a.
Not a huge fan of Spoons normally soulless places, but this one is top. Plus the beer was only £1.40 for Rudgate Dark Mild
m. k.
firt time I hesitated for come in the leaping salmon but when I come in side I am look inside very friendly.
P.
Huge Wetherspoons fast and pleasant service even whilst busy on a Sunday Morning
G. B.
Very busy pub but not too loud great choice of drinks
R. L. H.
I went to this place only once. It were ram packed inside but the ale was cheap with it being a Wetherspoons.
M.
Multi floor weather spoon pub always popular bar!
K. B.
The best weatherspoons I have ever been in ! All the staff attentive and very friendly
J. C.
A nicley decorated pub with a lovely little outdoor seating area. This place had a good vibe about it with a relaxing atmosphere. Staff were friendly and the establishment was very clean .
G.
Nice pub and good staff enjoyed pint of ouseburn porter.🍺 …
L.
Came here with friends and would come back, staff were friendly and a good atmosphere xx
J. A.
Nice large venue with three floors with the top floor on a Monday having music and a free to enter quiz (I would presume they have other things on other days). Food was served hot and drinks were served quickly.
C. M.
Big Wetherspoons, not the poshest but with the usual impressive offering of real ales and good value food.
J. K.
Chicken wrap second to none. Washed down with glass of Chardonnay. Good meal for less than £6.00.
Small-scampi meal. Well cooked but only 4 scampi, maybe 6 would have been better.
K. S.
A down to earth restaurant which has the feeling of a nice crowded diner with exceptionel food for prices that fit with a student life.👌 …
N. G.
Very busy place but food and drink comes quick via the app. The mixed grill with breaded scampi was great.
A. I.
Close to railway 🚂 station. Approx 2-3 minutes walk. So handy if you are waiting to catch your train. Must be one of the cheapest places in Newcastle city centre for drinks. …
J. B.
Food was lovely, very busy but we were still served within 15 minutes of ordering. Polite staff and good value for money. Bought 4 meals, including drinks and 3 sharing plates, and only came to £41. Last time we went to Newcastle we used "Keel Row" Weatherspoons. Can honestly say the food was significantly better in the Mile Castle and I would highly recommend.
G. A.
Staff are excellent. The food was served insanely quickly
C. C.
A place we visit often on our trips to Newcastle friendly and good prices
J. A.
Went to this pub for a Sunday lunch treat with my son and daughter in law and 3 young grandchildren, we had a lovely time, food was smashing and the kids loved it, one lady in particular was lovely and welcoming, she was dressed in a green t-shirt advertising captain Morgan tiki, she gave my oldest granddaughter her garland decoration, which she loved, so the kids drew her some pictures which she immediately put behind the bar, lovey experience was had by all, mainly thanks, to this, lovely lady
P. T.
Close to the central train station. I went for breakfast, the pub was clean and the staff friendly.
S. R.
Standard Wetherspoons, cheap and cheerful, always busy, staff do a great job, always ran off their feet.
c. w.
Very convenient location opposite the railway station. Food was expected spoons quality and served fast. Service at the bar was slow but the man serving looked young so probably very new.
d. c.
Food and drinks are really well priced and absolutely delicious 😋 …
C. B.
Nice breakfast and friendly colleagues.
Will go again.
N. S.
Too busy to really get a feel for the place. Central location for everything in Newcastle upon Tyne.
J. K.
Decent spoons, good place to start your night. 3 floors so can get a seat guaranteed 99% of the time and quick service to.
L. B.
Weathers good beer, decent food, well priced.
R. D.
Love this place we go once a month to meet friends staff are marvellous
s. s.
Had a fabulous meal, very tasty, good service.
A. K.
Good spoons, not a sticky floor one full of the all day drunken crowd
K. P.
Food was lovely, although they had no salt(problem with the supplier). Disappointed that they cleared my partners plate while I was still eating, im not a trained waitress but even I know that this shouldn't be done, given I had half a plateful still to eat. Plus he had gone to the toilet so it made me look like I was eating alone.
I. w.
Decent price food and drinks. Thanks
E. D.
Good food, fast service but crowded most days
T. B.
Typical Newcastle ale pub lot's of new and popular ale and ciders on tap.
j. c.
Helpful staff and good prices as usual for Wetherspoons. Excellent
J. J.
Great food, very busy and lovely
a. a.
Great place for relaxation. Wonderful customer experience. Definitely a place to dance if you're a music lover.
P. b.
It's a Wetherspoons....it does what every city centre Wetherspoons does
C.
A nice Wetherspoon restaurant which I always visit at the end of my short city trip - before heading back to North Shields docks for sailing back to Imuijden/Netherlandsand onward to Germany . Very pupular a noon time .Good offers (food drinksgood value for money . I take advantage of their coffee/Tea Offer .Always worth a visit !
G. D.
A typical weathetspoons but the staff were friendly and helpful
p. l.
Cool place think it would be great upstairs in the summer
s. g.
Lovely food, very helpful Staff and comfortable atmosphere, what else could you want? 😁 …
P. M.
Don't leave your table with drink on it .. if you are going to the toilet or bar ... because if you do it will be cleaned and ready for the next customers by the time you get back and they know you are coming back to your table
L. W.
Very relaxing but busy in a good way, lots of old folk in enjoying food and afternoon drinks. I had the chicken burger which was great. Lager isn't amazing so I moved onto bottles of lager instead.
K. P.
The location of this place is good as its quite close to Central train station and as with all weatherspoons it's cheep & cheerful. This pub was quite busy and clean enough. We did order food which wasn't the best, chips were a bit soggy, bacon was extra burnt and for some reason all Newcastle weatherspoons seem to have a salt shortage at the moment! Staff were polite and friendly although one guy behind the bar kept profusely apologising to everyone which was quite cringe. All in all though you get what it says on the tin for pretty cheap so can't complain and even though they are close to the station the prices are still decent.
J. O.
A big pub. We used it as a waiting room for the train station! Beer was of a good quality too....
M. B.
Plenty of space 3 floors, good food service and prices
M. S.
Great pub to met up with friends and gave a cheap drink in the centre of Newcastle
J. R.
Yeah great space over 3 levels and has a nice buzz about the place. Good food and drinks with fair prices. As all Wetherspoons its worth a visit and 5 m8ns from the train station.
A. S.
Massive spoons over 3 floors.great value but heaving of a night time
G. C.
Great place to meet up for night out couple of cheep rounds 👌 …
O. N.
Busy but it’s spoons, great breakfast
Z. W.
Very loud and sticky on a Saturday evening. Service super speedy though.
C. B.
It was good to go indoors and have a Mocca or two as refills are free. My Scampi, chips n peas looked good too. My +1 had the Fish, chios and peas.
I l9ved the pleasant atmosphere here. Not over full etc.
I marked down a point though as the plates were so cold the peas were not edible the became so cold so quickly. Warm plates are sometimes important, especially in winter months.
A. H.
Drinks are a great price, atmosphere good. Staff efficient and pleasant... Only thing stopping the 5th star is the toilet cleanliness, not the greatest 🤷🏼♂️ …
C. S.
Had a great lunch with friends. Quick and good value sums up this establishment.
P. W.
Great value and location . This pint for £1.49
D. S.
Pleasant staff, not too busy, managed to get a table quickly.
A. K.
Great pub split over 3 levels. Great value meals and drinks. Very busy would have scored 5 out of 5 but a couple of drinks we ordered they didn't have.
I. W.
Excellent service from friendly and helpful staff
M. L.
Great pub friendly people good food xx
R. L.
Great place - Excellent selection of food and drink
G. C.
Very nice selection of beers, staff on point with service.
G. E.
Usual Spoons deal on three floors... service was efficient and friendly...on our visit before Newcastle FC were beaten. Returned for a bite before our train only to be barred entry as I was wearing a Cambridge United hat....the same hat I was wearing at lunchtime.... seems they only want to take your money before their team loses. Poor.
B. A.
Cheap beer is a plus , however feels dated , needs a refurb..!!
C. J.
reasonably priced,nice atmosphere clean toilets
A. I.
First visit on Thursday last week, definitely going back, couldn't fault it,great atmosphere, food good and drinks prices unbelievable compared to other pubs, that's probably because they don't have a music license, rather have cheaper drinks anytime instead of what passes for music these days. 👍 …
K. T.
Massive place! Located close to Central Station. We have used it for breakfast and lunches and always been great. Today for the first time the chip portion was terrible.for an adults meal when the child portion was actually bigger but mostly we haven't had an issue.
Loads of space but imagine on weekends and night time getting seats could be tricky.
K. M.
Three storey spoons. Busy but not bad at all.
r. r.
Quite a quaint pub with seating on 3 floors so if you want to find some were quiet to have a drink then climb the stairs
A. K.
Nice surroundings, pretty good prices (just like any other weatherspoons. Can be little too busy and loud for someone's taste though
D. B.
Good selection of cheap drinks. However, the bar staff are fairly clueless, friend asked for a pint which they said they didn't sell until my friend pointed it out to them. Chav central on weekends.
P. S.
It's a spoonies...went in for drinks then fire alarm went off....left to go to The Slug and Lettuce...
M. W.
Nice place, nice staff. Though there's a strong debit so we couldn't find a clean table. That would've been okay if the leftovers from the former clients would've been taken away when we got our orders, but it didn't. Ordering via the app is quite antisocial but that's a way to do things. Overall, nice place for drinks with colleagues or friends but not really for a date.
S. P.
It's a Spoons. Good prices for drinks. Only the second one I've been in that plays music, with a dance floor.
D.
Went in last night on a busy Saturday. Served by Ben in a green top on the top bar. He went looking at the other bar for the drink we wanted and even though it was packed he remembered our order when we went back for more drinks. Good customer service!
C. W.
Nice pub and cheap too. 3 floors and got really busy ad the night went on. Good atmosphere
J. L.
Wetherspoons in the heart of Newcastle, just Round the corner from the Railway Station. On two levels. All the usual Wetherspoons attributes.
Good reasonable Food and a good selection of Beers
P. L.
Decent pub , good selection of beer.
R. H.
£1.80 pint of Worthingtons can't complain at all
i.
It might not be a mile long, nor is it a castle so that’s not a good start: but it is a spoons
What more can I say..?
conversation is always good... Plenty of good crack with the Staff, that lad ‘Joel’ needs a raise. Best service I’ve had~ friendly Service, fast: all my drinks have been refreshing, and the food is what you’d expect; for a bleeding good price. Helps that you can order everything from the app, straight to your table.
But ofc: it has to be said that the interior cleanliness is a bit lackluster. but: for what it’s worth, it does a lot better than a lot of other pubs and bars.
If your plan is to go out for a chill night with mates then there’s nothing I’d rather recommend better than a spoons, and this here is arguably the best one in Newcastle 10/10
Z. H.
It's ok but just wished they had air con. Upstairs had a bingo night which was nice but could not stand the very high temperatures. Windows could not be open. On the whole it was ok.
M. L.
One of the better Spoons. Would go again if in Newcastle.
J. J. S.
What you would expect from a Spoons pre Covid.
Busy, noisy, staff rushed off their feet, tables not cleared, tables not cleaned, but still cheap as chips! Food and drink not bad at all for low prices.
You get what you expect.
G. T.
Its a good wetherspoons always busy,on three levels ,expect lots of stairs to the toilet and to find a seat, staff are pleasant, drinks are very cheap especially magners at only 2 pound a pint, generally its a nice pub that is a pleasure to visit
C. F.
Staff lovely, food delicious, beer don't know as they appear not to have any. John Smith's no, mirretti no, only ship yard available, pale ale yuck. Poor lad behind the bar helpful and dead canny but must be fed up repeating himself. BBC aren't reporting a beer shortage but in here they should be!
C. S.
Good meal, Great value for money.
J. W.
Perfect place for pre drinks, belta music and cheap as chips.
V. S.
Popular bar that gets busy so be prepared to queue for a short while to get in on a weekend. Short wait at the bar to get served and plenty options music wise depending on the floor you pick. They serve food but we didn't eat here on this occasion.
J. C.
Cannot go wrong with this place, 3 floors of wetherspoonage with very little bother and friendly staff.
M. “. C.
Popped in for food wasnt to bad and quick service.
J. g.
First port of call on a night out, cheap and friendly and also does good food, watch yourself on the third floor though because once it hits a certain time you are not asked politely to vacate your table they just tell you to move out of the way so they can make a dancefloor.
L. M.
Typical fare from this brand, good value for money.
C. H.
Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly.
R. W.
Visited on the day after Newcastle played Chelsea, very busy with people getting trains to and from Newcastle.would not recommend it as a place for families. Typical spoons value for money although food is not of a standard of other pubs in the group
R. C.
Great bar. Great prices.
L. P.
Spent 2 nights in Newcastle and visited the Mile castle 2 or 3 times for drinks and food as usual good service tasty food and cheap beer
P. A.
Good service at this Wetherspoons pub. Plenty of outdoor seating. Friendly staff.
C. D.
Great place to start a boys outing for RL Magic Weekend. An excellent and well priced English Full Brekkie with a couple of pints set is all up for the days jollifications. Large premises with 3 floors and an excellent choice of beers.
M. R.
Really nice, fast service cheap food, some items missing and portions have shrunk, but guess they have to if they are holding the price down.
S. J.
Nice Wetherspoons, close to Central Station. Served quickly. Some really good bargains on drinks and breakfast items until the end of February.
l. f.
It's a wetherspoons it is what it is - cheapest gin and tonic in newcastle
B.
Very lively pub with a good selection of drinks including non alcoholic lagers.
DJ plays a good mix of music.
Overall a great atmosphere.
T. M.
Good atmosphere very nice food
D. M.
Nice prices and a good selection of lagers
P. P.
Good atmosphere good prices for city centre.
J. W.
Great service and great prices. Only 2 minute walk from central rail station in Newcastle. Loads of room on 3 levels and always a busy popular spot.
I. J.
Good place for decent and cheap food and drinks
R.
Very lively spoons. Cheap drink
G. H.
A weatherspoons establishment clean friendly excellent drink prices
j. s.
A typical weatherspoons, but over 3 floors, visited at 1800, not a table to be had on a Thursday evening, but one soon became available, food same as any spoons but be prepared to wait for a table. A having place full of under 30s I think at 53 I was the eldest here but a good vibe.
J. C.
Nice place always packed 2 floors nice meals and drinks
L. M.
Slow service. Good prices. Difficult to locate a menu. Helpful staff. Really not the best Wetherspoon pub I've visited mainly due to the uncommonly slow service. May be better other days...
P. H.
Nice place for a quick pre-train meal
A. S.
Staff attentive at bar. Table could have been cleaner, which we cleaned our self with wipes. Drinks at a resonable price.
C. D.
Lovely typical wetherspoons. Food good as usual. Large building over many floors. Prompt service. No complaints. Very close to train station so handy stop off.
W. E.
Chris was absolutely amazingly. A man of many talents including his worrk. Definitely worth the pay rise. What a guy he is? 1000% worth a manager so nice!
W. S.
It's just a massive Wetherspoons. Does what it says on the tin. Cheap booze and food...We went for breakfast which was nice but not outstanding. You know what you are getting in Wetherspoons which is why they are always s good place to start when you are on a session
P. B.
It's a Wetherspoons...you should know what to expect. Decent food and drink at reasonable prices. This place had far better than average service from absolutely top notch staff.
G. L.
It's spoons food ok, drink ok, prices awesome, atmosphere ok. Can't really go to far wrong with a any Wetherspoons other than they lack atmosphere of a good pub.
M. H.
I like this pub quite a lot. Three floors of traditional, very spacious, unpretentious, comfortable surroundings. The food on offer is excellent (choice and value) from a pub and I would estimate 50/50 were dining/drinking when I go there. Attracts varied social clientele from the young crowd, middle aged to older groups. Every time I've been it's been relaxed, busy, and very civilised.
T. B.
Nice Spoons canny pint too, xxx
S. B.
Good old Spoons, can't go wrong. Was freezing to be honest and had to sit with coats on. But great drinks, prices and brilliant app.
J. Y.
Great night here this evening. Service has been very good. Ryan is seriously the hardest working person here tonight.
R. M. (.
Excellent range of drinks compared to most of the pubs in Newcastle. Good food, but don't think they know how to cook the fish properly. Staff polite (ish).
Getting back to normal again now that covid is easing off.
R. T.
Visited the mile castle on Thursday evening before a concert for food and friday after a concert for drinks food was fine mix grill and pizza were ordered included drinks choice was surprising as as brew dog punk was included so very good Friday evening was extremely noisy first spoons I have been in with a dance floor so had a club feel about . Different
M. L.
Cheap and always busy. Good location
S. M.
Had a great night the staff was good
R. D.
Good service , good location, clean pub.
C. F.
As with all wetherspoons you know exactly what you are getting. Good service, Great location, Great prices, Good food and the surroundings are very comfortable 5 stars
I.
Busy city centre pub typical weatherspoons venue could do with the tables cleared a bit quicker but maybe caught a staff change over
m.
it’s fine. always packed though and prepare to get ided every 5 minutes if you’re a student
H. H.
First time in the mile castle. Only went for a drink but food was being served while there. Very busy on each of the three floors. Could do with more bar service as we waited ages to be served. At times only one person on bar as the rest were sorting out meals on the floor. However, great atmosphere. Would go again x
M. X. I. G.
Beers cheap but did not taste okay.
K. S.
Stayed near the railway station, good venue to eat really efficient and quick staff, never go wrong with a Weatherspoons
F. A.
no mayo. gutted. crying in the spoons toilets rn.
E. H.
One of the better in the chain..Nice surroundings friendly staff..Good food service and pleasant atmosphere..had numerous visit never had anything to moan about 🙂 …
J. P. S.
Cheap drinks and music on the weekend. We usually go here for pre's and it's always decent. Can't really complain.
c. M.
It does what is says on the tin. Typical spoon place. Cheap & cheerful but staff were miserable in their service. Won't be back
R. G.
Really good wetherspoons really good atmosphere and very well priced
J. P.
Popped in on a day out in Newcastle with other half pub nice and clean bar staff and waiters were lovely and the meal we had was first class will definitely be going again and would recommend it to our family and friends
P. R.
Great bar great prices good range drinks
K. M.
A very busy pub even from early morning. Breakfast was good and would go again.plenty goes on in pub as it has three floors
M. F.
Good pub as are most Wetherspoons !
J. O.
A big chain like this and they had no tomatoe ketchup
K. M.
Presuming there was an event on somewhere n the vicinity as it was incredibly packed on Tuesday the 5th April .
The staff seemed to deal excellent with the volume of customers !
B. C.
Good pub, you get what you expect from Wetherspoons, some of our food didn't turn up and some turned up cold, otherwise not too bad.
L. A.
Good service and good quality food at reasonable prices. Very busy at peak times.
J. T.
Ideally situated about 2 minutes walk from Newcastle Station & in the main centre. This well kept, clean & friendly establishment is a great place to have a last drink before catching your train back to where you're staying. We had the great fortune of a beautiful sunny day & were able to take advantage of the extensive beer garden.
A. R.
Convenient and quick service
P. F.
The usual Weatherspoons, cheap beer and food, good atmosphere
A. C.
Really busy on a Saturday when I went. Got a brunch meal. OK drinks etc reasonable price.
D. G.
The pub is always really busy but I think it is well run and you don't have to wait long
t. a.
The bar restaurant serve 40 brand tap beer it is amazing
J. A. (.
A very handy Wetherspoons, ideally located close to Eldon Square and within spitting distance of Central Station.
Food arrived in a timely manner, despite it being a rather busy Saturday teatime when we visited. Decent selection of ales at the bar.
If you're looking for a quiet pint with friends or family, I'd suggest walking up the stairs to the first floor and turning right and finding a table in a booth. You'll be able to have a pleasant meal away from the hustle and bustle of the "main" bar area.
J. s.
Much needed pint nice place
J. R.
They have quiz night on monday night which i would definitely recommend - i normally sit on the top floor as it sometimes quieter
P. M.
Lovely Sunday free buffet at the Stag
S. U.
Very busy at evening when I was there on a Saturday. Called in after 10pm had died down a bit, but then picked up again. Good selection of lagers and hand pulled beers. Dance music later on. Enjoyable night out.
C. D.
Very large pub over three floors, turned into a club almost on a night time upstairs. Great spoons prices and drinks available. Good for groups, stags, hens etc. Friendly staff.
M. O.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great low prices. We visited 3 days in a row. Not a single thing to complain about.
PINT OF MAGNERS 2.10 SMASHING !!!
A. M.
Great atmosphere, usual witherspoons good food and drink
Bouncing.
C. T.
Brilliant service, cheap drinks and absolutely fab atmosphere with friends. Would recommend shots they cheap and also yummy 😂 …
G.
Food wasn't the greatest sadly but otherwise good. My husband had the mixed grill but it was overcooked, meat too well done 😕 atmosphere was good and couldn't fault service.. …
G. P.
Bonus. They had Maximus at £2.10. Strong and cheap.
S. C.
Great table service. A bustling city-centre pub, vibrant and atmospheric. If you want a quiet pint, you need to look elsewhere.
M. D.
Friendly staff. Usual wetherspoons. Good location. Not far from station.
R. E.
Good atmosphere nice and cheap round of drinks one of the places that dose not brake the bank 🍻 …
P. M.
Great choice of beers. Keep bringing in the good range of guest ales. Gets a bit too busy but I guess that's just a sign of its success. Could do with a few more attentive staff behind the bar but otherwise is a great place.
k. s.
Just a quiet night before the darts
J. B.
While still pretty busy, me and my table got food and drinks ordered from the app very quickly. Most of the staff were very nice to talk to and very knowledgeable about drinks
E. S.
Food is decent and inexpensive. The food arrived quickly within 5 minutes of ordering. Lots of reasonably priced beers. For about one pound more you could have an alcoholic beverage instead of a nonalcoholic one with some entrees. Great place to get some inexpensive food quickly. Nothing fancy.
D. H.
Standard Spoons. Cheap beer and a load of seats.
M. J.
Good food and drink at a great price.very busy was lucky to get a table 👍 …
T. K.
Great range of ales. Good service and prices of course.
G. R.
Dropped into The Mile Castle after a day's retail therapy and in American parlance "the joint was rocking." Older and younger people enjoying a pleasant drink or a really good meal.
Pub grub of the highest order and very reasonably priced too is on offer. The choice was fairly wide. We visited on "Curry Club" day, sampling said curry - it was great. So much so we revisited the following day!
The pub is a victim of it's own success in so much that being so popular staff were hard-pressed to clear and clean tables. However, this situation was quickly redressed.
The staff were helpful and courteous. Due to the heavy security presence on the entrance the hostelry felt very welcoming but didn't stifle the GREAT vibe going on.
Well done Wetherspoons.
M. S.
This is not your average wotherspoons. By day you can order food, watch sport and have a few drinks but by night the place transforms into a night club. We had an awesome time here. Bar prices cheap with a party atmosphere well worth a visit while in town
H. B.
A very busy wetherspoons pub over 3 or 4 floors. The top floor has amazing views of the town. Always thriving with people from all walks of life. Hen and stag parties, older folk enjoying a coffee and cake, young families. A varied mix. Bar staff generally good too. Although busy,, never too long a wait for drinks. A good place to go for a few cheaper drinks in town before moving on.
S. M.
Typical spoons good value, reasonable qual food but nothing special
c. t.
Went for breakfast here, on way home from hendo. The food was great and good service. Prices always good at Weatherspoons.
H. E.
Went on a Saturday night at 7pm & despite the tremendous THREE floors, there was still no where to sit and we ended up hovering around the toilets! Music was also too loud to hear everyone talking. However, cheap drinks and I imagine it's not as hectic on any other night.
P. G.
Good fast service always great prices near to train station so go for breakfast and catch the train home.
S. G.
Long wait but understandable very busy on 3 large floors. Food was good
C. a.
Typical large city wetherspoons. Massive . Food all over the floor. Smells. Robotic staff. Lasses in heels that break feet and dresses made from dental floss. Students, drunks, and balmpots. I wouldn't start my night anywhere else.
S.
Very friendly pub in Newcastle enjoyed chilling in the out door space..has it was sunny, decent prices..👍always a bonus.. toilets on ground floor so helpful..too many pub's with stairs to bathroom, simple food menu for outside was nice basic choice but enough for Covid restrictions …
A. “. A. B.
All good real ale festival on too
D. C.
I love this place, particularly early on in the day when there are very few people around. Its a city centre bar so naturally it gets really busy later on in the day! But I often go here for some food when I'm having my bike serviced and it is always nice and chilled... Now if only I could remember to bring something to write in for once...
D. H.
Typical Wetherspoons,staff good
P. T.
Arrived at 11.30, only one staff member so service was very slow. Ordered food. My sisters breakfast was dreadful. Burnt eggs. Etc. Was as if it had been kept warm too long. The eventually more staff arrive. Seemed a friendly bunch
C. B.
The pub itself is decent and has lots of space and bars, most of the staff are friendly apart from one male member of bar staff who refused to sell me a Bloody Mary which would of been fine if he wasn't so rude about it. I then asked him for a double vodka and tomato juice to which he replied 'I can't sell you it, what part of that do you not understand!' Very rude and will go absolutely nowhere in the hospitality industry if he speaks to customers like that. Apart from that the breakfast was exactly what you expect from spoons and the food wait wasn't too long!
S. “. M.
Three floors of spacious seating. Showing rugby as a bonus. Excellent real ale too.
M. S.
This installment of Wetherspoon is a nice little spot in the middle of town. You cant expect much from the fast food in any of this particular chains restaurants but the staff and atmosphere are a pleasant surprise. Nice for breakfast and lunch if you grab something from the grill.
G. H.
This is a great pub to come to when in the city centre, staff are very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is also great, the only downsides are we waited around 15 minutes for food to arrive and the sinks in the toilets could be cleaned more often
G. H.
Great place for a few drinks
J. C. B. (.
Nice place and very good food.
K. A.
A group of us meet up every few months for a few drinks. I have a meal too, which usually is an all day breakfast. I have small because I find that is big enough. Price of beer and food is very reasonable
P. L.
A good day out and the beers cheap
D. P.
Best spoons experience in the land. All the staff are canny and the beer flows like wine. Chips are to die for and the carpets are fantastic deep pile. Clean and fresh smelling urinals. Top location for a morning pint
A. J.
Great bar if you come from the Central station , 3 massive floors with your normal whetherspoons prices and choice of food with the normal well furbished surroundings well worth a visit .
L. H.
Always good crack, great music
A. R.
Good place to go for a meal or a beer during the day... and also to party on a night out. Its big size and 3 floors make it comfortable even when crowded. Prices are not bad. It is quite common to see people fighting sometimes on weekend nights though.
t. t.
Very lively wetherspoons, unlike any iv been to before. Perhaps because it was a Friday night the emphasis was more a club theme/disco. Great music being played tho. Staff were great and as usual working really hard delivering drinks to tables. Seems to me they've got their work cut out enough without having to do drinks table service but despite this they stayed focused, happy and friendly. Top rating for a member of bar staff called Ben, chatty, funny and friendly towards my wife and myself on our first time in the toon from daan sarf.
As usual, cannot fault a spoons, always great value and you know what your paying for so don't complain if you don't get a la carte at brown ale prices. Highly recommended, will be back👍👍👍👍👍
G. G.
Well known in Newcastle, great spoons, you really can't go wrong. Mile Castle has three floors and it's often packed, Which never effects the speed of service.
K. J.
Called in here several times during our stay on Newcastle. Went there last night (Tuesday), it was steak night so my wife and l had an 8oz sirloin each. Mine with chips, hers with jacket potato.
Superb! Steaks were char-grilled to perfection, big and juicy with that lovely smoky flavour.
The meals were £8.60 each including a pint of any of their delicious beers or another drink from the specified list.
Incredible value for money, especially as there is another steak house nearby that would charge three times that for each meal, and l doubt that their steaks are any more special than Wetherspoons, given their buying power on the meat market.
Speedy service, comfortable surroundings and excellent food and drinks.
Five stars all round!
J. R.
Steady bar. Big space over a few floors, and on the weekend it's jam packed all day potentially. Respectable grub and top ale at the best prices. No trackie trousers though if that's your style preference :) Good especially if you're passing through the city on a night out.
E. M.
We called in yesterday for a drink and took the only available seats on the ground floor area, we were attended to quickly with a pleasant guy clearing and runbbing the table over, although he did get our order wrong,
I was surprised at how smelly and stain marked the seating area was especially as Wetherespoons have had all the time during lockdown to give the pub a thorough clean and tidy up, wont be going back in a hurry
I. L.
Busy on a Friday afternoon, but service was quick and efficient and the food was good value for money. Only 4 🌟 as could have done with a clean down of some tables …
R. C.
A good standard of Wetherspoons': friendly service, spacious and comfortable with excellently kept and served beers at good prices. Food is good pub-grub fare except this time some forgot to heat the mushy peas.
M. P.
Great pub, we went much later in the evening so we had our pick of tables up on the first floor. Quick table service too.
S. l.
Excellent pub, for good quality affordable meals, great for families too. Excellent customer service and staff are always polite and helpful.
p. m.
Value for money drinks top marks.
Food is good but they are nudging the price up. They should be careful of that as it is their biggest draw ... 🤔 …
C. W.
It's big (over three floors) and it's a weatherspoons so it is cheap. It is always busy and getting a seat is difficult and as far as I know toilets aren't on every floor which might put some folks off. Not sure what people expect I give it 3 stars because it's a weatherspoons it's never gonna get 5. Might have been 4 with better positioned toilets and if it wasn't always impossible to get seated.
A. h.
A great bar and reasonable prices for drinks and food. Staff very friendly and very helpful.
K. H.
Went here Saturday 7th October with three friends, we ordered the 3 small plates for £10 , when they arrived the waitress bought 2 sets of cutlery and only 2 paper napkins , I asked her could we please have 4side plates and more napkins as the meal was a sharer , loaded chips , chicken wings & chicken strips, we needed 2 more forks aswell.she never even came back with anything , lucky I had a packet of paper tissues in my bag. Thought this was very bad service .
P. S.
This place is big (3 floors) so it's an ideal place to meet friends when out in town. Its a very popular place as its part of the Weatherspoon franchise, which means the drinks/food are cheap. Its busy most days, but on match days its chocker, so check before you go. Toilets are downstairs or on 2nd floor and are usually clean. Being a franchise the food is nothing special (though I do like their breakfast). You get your standard Lager's, ciders and Bitters. They do several cask ales, and cocktails. I have only one gripe and that would be the service. I don't think there are ever enough staff working. Even when they're not busy, you always have to wait a while to get served, usually its because someone's ordering food, but when the barmaid/bartender just keep serving those in front of them and not the order that each customer arrived at the bar that really annoys me.
K. R.
Always busy which is a good sign. Nice food at reasonable prices.
G. A. (.
Busy 2 floored pub in the centre of Newcastle. 5 mins from train station & 10 mins from coach station. Cheap drink & food. Nice atmosphere
J. S.
3 floors of packed drinkers of cheap beer .
K. W.
Very busy. But managed to get seat .fast service pleasant staff food
. excellent been before. Going to go again
..
C. S.
It's a wetherspoons so you know it's going to be cheap been a couple of times and there's a lot of seating but depending on what time you go and who you go with sometimes the staff can make you feel a little uncomfortable. Went with a group of friends all 18 and we felt a little harassed for our id
d. c.
Everything we've come to expect from a Wetherspoons with an added bonus..... The toilets AREN'T a 6 mile hike away 🤣🤣 …
R. B.
It's an average sort of Wetherspoons. Hood cheap beer and reasonably priced food that left a lot to be desired. Prompt service at the bar, and some service on the floor. There's many better places in the Wetherspoons portfolio, and no doubt a few worse.
K. C.
Was lovely and clean. Staff were lovely and friendly. The food was nice and quick and piping hot. Would definitely go back.
R. A.
A busy place. On 3 floors with a bar on each. A lift for disabled hidden at the far end of ground floor. Staff are very good and helpful. Historic building. Going to be made into a Wetherspoons hotel soon it is rumered with the building next door. In central location. No beer garden.
S. Q.
Cheap and cheerful and in a really nice building as well. I'd avoid it on a match day or Friday and Saturday evenings if you want a more relaxed atmosphere and not surrounded by people. But it really is a nice place to visit and the staff are always very helpful and friendly
H. C. S.
One of the largest Wetherspoons I've ever been to, serving both as a pub and as a club (to some extent). Usually has different styles of music on the top and bottom floors, with the middle floor acting as a kind of buffer. As most Wetherspoons, very competitively priced. Outside area is a bit too small for my liking, but this is understandable due to being close to the city centre.
A. G. u.
This is a really nice big Wetherspoon's set across three floors. This means that even when it's busy, you can still find a nice cosy corner with an armchair. Each floor has its own bar too, so you don't have to walk up and down flights of stairs to get a drink. Staff are friendly and attentive :) it's also just by central station, so perfect for a burger and a pint before you get on the train !
W. C.
Really busy ! Friendly staff ,great service
S. G. H.
Amazing effort at the Halloween party the kids had an amazing time! Would definitely recommend.
