Cracking pre match pint, busy but always plenty of staff so you get served pretty sharpish. The beer is kept well and they have a decent range. Shame the match afterwards is normally rubbish, this time it was West Ham who strolled to victory, even after we led twice. It's going to be a long season.

Still one of the best pubs in Newcastle, and has been for decades, the Trent has a decent selection of beers, a great jukebox and still has a pool table and dartboard when most city centre pubs have long since got rid. Out of the way enough to still be something of a hidden gem after all these years, it's always got a great atmosphere and the bar staff are always friendly.

A nice quiet pub with a good selection on draught. It doesn't do the business that it used to but it's still worth a visit. There's a bit of a musty smell.about the place but you only notice it for the first few minutes. Friendly staff and a canny little retreat from the city centre.
