Reviews of The Tyne Bar
N. G.
We only stayed for a couple of halves as running late but could have easily stayed longer. Decent amount of craft beers & their own on tap was what we are after (hazy & juicy). They also had a Verdant. Good outside area which spreads around the pub so some part of it will always be in the sun.
P. F. (.
Great bar, good vibes and fab location 😍

My first ever visit to the Gateshead/Newcastle Quays and trying some local beer. I found myself walking beside river Tyne. After a long walk I saw this place. Lovely location. Outside seating was packed by some big groups enjoying the drinks. As soon as I entered, enjoyed the atmosphere as well as a wonderful beers. Nice vibes. Service was great n quick. Helpful n friendly staff. I can imagine in summer it will b great point for fun.
D. M.
A very popular bar on the riverside, in the summer crowded inside and out, during the winter quiet during the day. A good selection of real ales and a menu for various bar foods.
J. M. F.
One of my fave bars and the queue tells you how good! Great setting, atmosphere and beer. Snacks I think and often bands on. Such a good meet up place and tonight- Morris dancing! Xx
B. T.
The beers were well kept and the staff were friendly, lots of outdoor seating and even though we went on a Wednesday afternoon it was very popular. Enjoy.
C. L.
Good service, friendly staff.. beer spot on.. would definitely go back..
J. C.
Friendly and efficient staff, decent prices, and an interesting setting. Meals were tasty but not much in the way of traditional pub grub. Worth a look though.
P. R.
Lovely day, friendly staff, good drinks and good food!
C. R.
Nice location, looks good on the inside, wide selection of beers including real ale, nice food and friendly staff. Prefer its original name of The Ship Inn.
A. E.
I had been trying to get here for ages... And me and my husband where in Newcastle last weekend so we searched it out!
Food was amazing! Little diamond of a place.. Would love to go bk when they have a band on!
J. C.

Great bar, good vibes and fab location 😍
G. S.
Consistently pleasant, sat outside with good quality drinks. Slow service but I wasn't in a hurry. This place is an old favourite of mine.
A. D.
Cozy interior, heated seating area around the back and an outdoor seating area in the sun (today at least). Local beers, friendly staff and a mixed age crowd. Overall local boozer with some indie vibes
P. S.
This is such a great pub, highly recommend trying as part of the the Ouseburn pub crawl. At barely 10 min walk from millennium Eye great to call in on a Sunday. It can be a very lively place, especially when it's hot and sunny as they have a huge outdoor seating area. Or when they have a band playing (check twitter: The Tyne Bar @thetynebar out their website: thetyne.com for info), great selection of ales if your a real ale drinker.
U.
Great atmosphere. Live band was brilliant. Great choice of beers. Only problem is on busy nights is queuing for the loo
B. T.
The beers were well kept and the staff were friendly, lots of outdoor seating and even though we went on a Wednesday afternoon it was very popular. Enjoy.
J. B.
Always welcoming and have a great selection of seating areas inside and out. Staff really chilled out and friendly & it's right by the river.
C. H.
Great atmosphere and great beers. Can be a bit too busy for food at times but that's great too.
M. O.
Great music inside or out. Great location and so many mature music lovers just having a good time and enjoying life.
P. M.
Great, lively and cheap (£3 double g&t) with a phenomenal jukebox featuring Can AND The Fall! Perhaps uniquely, the music you choose is pumped outside on speakers for the outdoor seating area.
c. r.
Never been here before and what a gem it is wounderfull food grate place for a visit
K.
I was pleasantly surprised by the food! Never had food there.
Was a huge selection of different dishes that all sounded good!
I went with a jackfruit burrito bowl. Was really nice! Never had jackfruit before, heard about it.
N. D.
Fantastic Pub food and friendly staff. Great location!!
C. L.
Good service, friendly staff.. beer spot on.. would definitely go back..
C. S.
Great been and extremely friendly staff. Everyone feels welcome, you get all sorts of age ranges and types of people in here. I'd frequent more regularly if it was closer to me.
A. F.
Nice bar. Food looked good but couldn't find a table to sit down and eat due to obnoxious, loud middle class students taking up any available space.
J. R.
This is hands down my favourite bar in Newcastle. I can't even explain why. Excellent location with it being in Ouseburn and next to the river. Brilliant on a sunny day
H. A.

R. P.
Great bar with regular bands. Excellent beer garden and sunny spot. I would defo recommend this bar.
G. A.
Nice little bar beside the Tyne, good choice of drinks and the food looked amazing, while we didn't dine on this occasion we definitely will soon.
A. D.
Good live music and dog friendly. Pretty expensive beers on tap but still a good place to go for a good craft beer. They serve coffee and it is a dog friendly bar.
C. R.
Great pub, great selection of beers, great location, good outdoor seating setup.
D. T.
Been going for years, VERY cool place, they have live music too which is always good 😊

R. B.
Great little bar serving good beer worth a visit.
L. H.
One of the best pubs in the toon. Always a great pint and atmosphere
T. D.
The Tyne Bar is class, there is always an atmosphere and bustle no matter when I have been. The beers on tap are great and unique and you can sit inside the cosy pub or outside overlooking the Tyne and Ouse, it's also right next to the Quayside walk and other amazing Ouseburn gems.
They also have good live music.
A. F.
Enjoyed the atmosphere in the traditional style pub. Great selection of drinks and food brought out to other customers looked fantastic. Very friendly staff and welcoming pub.
L. D.
Nice bar
Very hard to get a seat outside sp would say get there early
P. M.
Great place just to chill with friends you can even take your dog.
C. C.
Shawarma platter was excellent, as was the pulled pork burrito. Lovely location just off the river and sitting in the sun.
S. H.
Too cold, music too loud. But great venue. Will go again
S. R.
Always a welcome atmosphere, Always a great band , sometimes hit on a fabulous burger too!! 🍔 just love the place 😍
B. R.
Small venue on the inside but they host great acts and the seating area is amazing.
S. M.
Love the Ouseburn. Tyne bar one of our favourites. Fab food and beer. Great atmosphere and staff
d. m.
This is a class pub right in the heart of Ouseburn. The outdoor stage makes for some great entertainment in the summer, it's a must if doing the crawl around all the other great bars nearby like the free trade, the cumberland and the cluny.
N. S.
Love this place.
Friendly staff, good food and drink, live music and it's doggo friendly. Can't lose.
Outdoor seating is under cover of a bridge, with heat lamps available, so if society has ostracized you for your smoking habits they've got you covered.
P.s. there's a disco ball.
R.
Good vibes! I went in when they had Free food Tuesdays so you basically get the meal on the board when you paid £5. Me and my friend usually come by here after work and it's warm and cosy. Shame there's not much seating tho!
G. H.
Really nice place to sit outside with a drink on a sunny day.
M. B.
Lots of seating, great system in place and the food definitely beat us!!
A. Y.
Always a good vibe in here, live music and friendly staff

A MUST VISIT HIDDEN JEM
J. C.
Great place for food and drink, and is a sun trap during the day.
R. H.
Busy. Lot of quite young people. Nice atmosphere. Well organised. In one door out the other.
P. R.
Love it. Great staff serving superb beer. They do great food too with a lot of variation. The location is brilliant too and the interior is proper, what a pub should look and feel like!
A. M.
Currently excellent. Beer delivered promptly and of high quality. Atmosphere is good and not a silly wait for a table. We previously used to disappear when live music came on but this isn't currently an issue
R. R.
Used to love this place as a student - couple cheeky tipples of 'top shelf swag'
They don't do it anymore and I have died inside because of it
However the bar tender called me 'boss' once - 3stars
B. H.
Loved it! Good food, great vibe. If you want a proper pub with a bit of a fresh feel - look no further.
A. B.

Good beers, friendly staff, great atmosphere, even outside in winter!
T. R.
Haven't been in years until last night, really cool indie sort of vibe and stunning view of the Tyne/Bridge etc. Reasonably cheap to drink and very clean. Need to stock some Newcastle brown ale up was only thing negative ! cheers!
M. H.
Great beer good ol' fashioned pub ambience with friendly staff
B. S.
The Tyne Bar has a reasonable choice of drinks, a good setting especially in summer and a lot of out door seating
T. R.
Live music is back again after such a long wait .
Free music on a Sunday afternoon great bands and really good friendly people excellent choice of beers thank you so much Tyne bar. Long may it continue 👍
A. M.
Always nice to sit outside the Tyne bar with the dog and have a drink. The ordering app they use makes everything really quick and easy and they always have water and treats for the dog. 10/10 must visit while on the quayside.
I. W.
The Tyne Bar has always been a great place for drinks and food. Great selection of beer, easy to order with the W8R app. It does get busy here since the Covid restrictions, but we joined the queue and got a table within 10mins. The bouncer organising the tables did a great job and was very polite handling lots of people looking for a table on a Friday night 👍
E. W.
Love this place, good food, good music, good beer, excellent ambience
M. G.
Love this place, food was lovely as always and very cheap for the quality
D. K.
Loaded fried are awesome. Comes with chicken strips and they have some top ales. Nice choice of ipas and other drinks. Lots of space outside.
When next in the toon I'll be over
J. M.
Great bar good beer and live music
M. T.
Great selection of beers and a lovely place to be! (Under the scenic bridge ✨) The staff was very friendly and the general atmosphere truly welcoming. Was a bit sorry to find the kitchen unavailable.
S. M.
Great atmosphere, delicious variety of craft beer. They even had a sours on tap which is like a golden ticket! Lovely staff and a great way to spend a sunday afternoon 💖
S. G.
Amazing little place had a nice pint if draught rekorderlig and a lush little cookie cake bar . Sat outside in the sun was lush
j. m.
Had a great night mostly for the younger generation cheap aswell.
T. L.
Visited on a quiet Wednesday evening. The bar wasn't too busy inside and outside. Covid-19 regulations were perfectly followed by the efficient staff and my partner and I enjoyed drinks from the amazing selection on offer. This bar is a magnet for great music, food and beverages and could be under pressure in the future. It needs our support.
N. D.
Great pub, quality ale selection.🍻
S. M.
Just had a lovely lunch at the Tyne Bar. The guys are just great. Really friendly and attentive when you need them. Food was delicious and hot. Beer is well kept and safe distancing measures are in place and work brilliantly. We felt very safe. We shall be back. 👍
S. S.
Love this bar,I lived in Newcastle 13yrs and always popped in on my walk along quayside towards Ouseburn, always greeted with a friendly atmosphere a brilliant pub and can't wait to come back.
a. o.
Great venue for lunch. Well organised using a scan barcode system to order and pay. Food came within 10 mins and was so tasty. Amazing to have do many vegan options. Staff very friendly. Definitely will be going back
D. B.
Nice pint and lovely outdoor area
K. B.
Decent food. Dog friendly
J. H.
I've had a drink here in the past but was really impressed with the meal I had here today. The atmosphere and music are spot on and the staff are very friendly. Wil definitely be coming back
p. k.
Top place for music and ales 🍺
K. J.
Love this place. And food is sooo good
W. F.
Good beer choice. Good food.
N. S.
Great beer, great location and dog friendly. Loads of outside seating, some with wall and space heaters.
C. L.
Super cosy, good beers, friendly staff. Great pub.
C. T.
Very friendly staff, only reason for 4 stars is the selection of beers are “quirky” nothing straight forward such as Stella l/Corona etc apart from that brilliant atmosphere!
M. M.
Wide selection of beer, both on tap and in bottles. Not cheap but decently priced. Tried the fries and onion rings which were decently priced and fairly large sizes, and were good. The reason for coming back would be because of the atmosphere, which is both chill and fun at the same time. Has outside seating that probably would be really nice, but no protection from rain outside. Would go again!
P. J. W.
Great beer selection and live music FREE every Sunday. Another one of the reasons that Ouseburn is so good!
M. C.
One the best selections of beers in the North East
D. L.
Would like to recommend the classic dog very tasty
j. s.
Good selection of beers including there Top Shelf Swag (decent cheap option) that alternates. Food is fantastic here, at affordable prices, and never takes long to turn up after you place your order at the bar.
There's a great atmosphere inside the bar with local gigs and jam sessions put on. Outside there is an outdoor stage area and further seating which is great in the summer!
P.
Lovely food and nice staff
B. J.
.Great band. The Boneshakers. Fantastic afternoon!
J. T.
Good bar food, a decent pint and it was lovely and warm despite Storm Arwen
S.
Excellent pub serving a wide range of food & drinks in an excellent location with really friendly staff. What more do you need.
g. k.
Amazing food and drinks definitely a must
D. F.
Such a good venue, always a great selection of drinks and staff are really sound / good at their job. Never too long to wait even when it’s heaving! One of the best (if not the best) pubs in Newcastle.
M. A.
Visited sat 5th june. Was very busy. Staff were great, very polite and friendly. Happy to be at work. Couldn"t do enough for each table. Drinks and food were there within 10 mins. Definetlly recommend 10/10
G. S.
If you go to Newcastle and do not visit the Tyne Bar you are missing out. Great food, beer, music and friendly staff.
p. l.
Had an amazing burger, worth the wait
J. P. E.
One of the best places in Ouseburn, it has many outdoor tables by the river, a good selection of beers and some nice food. Will visit again!
M. M.
Lovely little pub in a fantastic setting.
D. H.
It's a canny pub. Beer garden is under the arch of a bridge so you don't get rained on and they don't charge daft prices for a pint. Food's not bad either. And they have bacon fries, which are like part of the royal family of snacks.
N. L.
Top place and good beer
L. C.
Good atmosphere and great food
S. N.
Really sweet staff, good food, and cool atmosphere
p. s.
Brilliant. Good range of beers.
Nice outdoor seating. Good views.
J. C.
Was canny reet. Tasty food, excellent NEIPA. Only problem was the 6 pale topless blokes swearing and showing off to their female friends. It was fine once they finished their Gin n Tonics and left. Clearly sunburnt....
This southerner will come back.
M. R. B.
For the restrictions it was great, no booking needed and security where friendly and able to seat people, only requests are heaters for tables, and music (though understand music may be out of venues control under restrictions).
A. H.
Great pub, fab location, can be very crowded - but that's only because it's so popular!
J. B.
This bar might be a bit of a walk from anywhere convenient, but the cozy atmosphere and the unique selection of drinks is well worth it. The outdoor seating is delightful, and a great place to enjoy the free food you get by spending over £5 at the bar.
D. S.
Perfect for bevving in the sun under the disco ball!
S. K.
Friendly bar staff, dogs allowed into the bar area. Good service.
C. D.
Cosy, friendly, and a good selection of ales. The food has always been good and gets even better.
B. E.
Nice bar in a great location. I hate plastic glasses though. I do understand why they use them though.
E. M.
Great pub with lovely vegan snacks. The outside area had beautiful art on the exterior walls. They don't do large glasses of wine unfortunately was the only let down for me.
D. M.
Nice pub, the staff took notice of us struggle with are phones to order, so came over and took are orders, they noticed are drinks were finished so came over. So very attentive staff.
b. t.
Great place to sit in the sun with a pint
A. P. a.
One of my favorite places. Bands playing most weekends afternoon and night. Nice fast food and staff. Don't be put off by que for beer the staff are fast. Great afternoons sitting outside in the sun chilling.
J. C.
Great AF beer options
J. H.
Such a great pub - particularly on a sunny day - good food and excellent service. A hidden gem.
S. P.
Had a lovely drink and BBQ hot dog sat outside the Tyne today. It's looking very bright and colourful with the new awning on the front.
Plenty of outdoor seating and dogs welcome. We didn't stay for the 3pm band but it was tempting!
C. M.
Great as always, their halloumi bites are spot on, the perfect place to grab a drink/food/bit of sunshine any day of the week!
L. C.
Great bar on Ouseburn. Covid arrangements are a bit confusing: join the bar queue outside, 1 of the door staff works along the queue asking how many seats then tries to find you a seat. The other door staff then try & hold your table. Didn't seem to be any checking-in.
D. D.
An excellent bar placed in an excellent location at the point where the Ouseburn river meets the Tyne. Staff are always friendly and the interior decorations give it a strong sense of unique character. Live music is played regularly and outdoor seating offers a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy a few drinks while looking across the river. It's also only 15 minutes from the Newcastle Quayside, so the option to walk further into the city for more drinks is an option, or if you fancy a more relaxed evening, check out some of the other local pubs in the nearby area.
T. M.
Great local beer and quick service despite how busy it was. Food looked great too
R. L.
Nice bar, friendly staff and great location.
M. G.
Nice atmosphere and good selection of beers and hand pull
S. P.
Great location, good selection of drinks with reasonable prices. Lost two stars for long queues and disposable cups for use outside - definitely could use multiple use plastic (if glass outside is the problem) with a cup deposit so people return them once they're finished with their drinks - just cringe at all the plastic going to landfill!
j. z.
Always been a great Pub, superb location and very chilled atmosphere 👌
j. b.
Have lived within 10 miles of here all my life and have never been round this neck of the woods -ashamed 😯lovely walk here along river and especially nice as beautiful day. Sat outside enjoying view with a lovely organic lager, hubby had a blonde beer and great quesidillas. They seem to do a lot of Mexican food and the couple next to us has huge burgers. Lovely atmosphere.
M.
Good traditional type of bar. Dog friendly and great beer garden. Burger and chips was lovely. Pity they do not sell fruit cider though
j.
Great bar on the quayside drinks are reasonable and delicious. No matter what time it is it always seems to have a great atmosphere
S. P.
Lovely traditional pub with a great selection of beers, wines, ales and spirits. A good venue for live and DJ music too. Outside seating area for when smoking or in nice weather. We make this a must-go place whenever we are in Ouseburn or Newcastle.
C. S.
Great pub. They are taking covid 19 seriously, which is very reassuring. Always good beer on. Quick service for bar meals and lots of outdoor seating.
S. C.
Awesome vibe, good people, good music, good drink and most importantly dog friendly 🐶👌
J. R.
This is a top bar. Their reputation is highly commendable for sure. It is situated right in the Ouseburn/Quayside border vibe. There are so many things going for it: good beers, outdoor seating aplenty, an outdoor undercover immensely popular live stage, pleasant staff plus it does top grub.
During the summer months we have, it is the Mecca for sociable people seeking UV and when the time is right many a live band under the archway (not all great, but I'm a Muso for what it's worth).
Any downers? Connectivity is one, but it's not far from Shields/Walker Road or the quayside yellow Q route. It also gets rammed. Make sure your bladder is robust because the bog and bar queue can be extreme. A busy indoor scene is fine but don't pin your hopes on comfort unless you're a 6'5" towering 18 clem pillar ready to stand firm.
There are however several other heavy hitting joints a mere stride or two away if things get too much here. If this isn't on your route then maybe make it such.
H. B.
Always a favourite. Great selection of beers, cool vibes and always something happening. Great to sit outside on those nice sunny days and love the craft markets they have on every now and then
J. S.
Great location, table service and live music on tap, what more do you need?
D. J.
What's to say that hasn't been said already.
Great bar, beer, food, music . Enough said
G. B.
My favourite bar in Newcastle. Class views of the tyne from the hill next to it where it is an absolute pleasure to sit in summer. Fantastic selection of beer and if you are on a budget, the top shelf swag option is always a godsend!! Always attracts a good crowd and live music events here are always great.
T. C.
Good selection of beers (key and cask), ciders and spirits . Plenty of seating, mostly outside but some of that undercover. Music can be a bit loud and, due to bridge arch, it can be noisy when there are a lot of people outside. Well worth a visit.
D. D.
Great atmosphere hear even on a midweek.very popular with locals and students.not a massive bar inside but has a big out door area which is used for live bands at the weekends.this area is covered as the bar is situated right under the brick arch of a road bridge and gives great acoustic sound to any music. Well worth a visit and a very easy 5 stars
v. s.
Great atmosphere and staff very welcoming. Visited on Sunday with my husband and 2 boys.
C. F.
If you're visiting Newcastle, it's well worth a walk further down the river to visit the Tyne (and Ouseburn) in general. Great selection of beers and solid pub grub. Great place to sit outside on a sunny day as well.
F. K.
Great food and atmosphere!
P. K.
Great pub great atmosphere good choice of beers at reasonable prices
D. S.
Cracking pub. Cheap prices for drinks and fantastic food.
C. M.
Lovely atmosphere. Staff couldn't be lovelier. Food was amazing!! And try the house pale. Superb
M. I. (.
One of Newcastle's hidden gems. Located in a former brothel, this has been a great little music and beer place for over 20 years. Has a free jukebox with a sensational selection of tunes, decent food, great beer and a lovely relaxed vibe. Been coming for a long time. It's substantially busier now, especially in the summer, used to have a single bench out front!
Highly recommended
P.
Didn't have a full menu on for some reason so only had the choice of 6 things. It was fine but I wouldn't go back for food. Nice service though so I'd happily pop back in for just a drink sometime.
I. F.
Great live music with top notch bands. Gets a bit packed so get there very early if you want a seat otherwise you'll be standing like a penguin. I'd recommend heading there about 1pm if you want to have any change of a seat. During the summer the gigs are held outside at the back of the pub. The live music usually starts around 3pm and finishes around 5pm.
K. M.
One of the best bars in Newcastle, especially for music lovers.
I don't get along too often but hopefully will put that to rights after lockdown 2!
D. P.
Great little bar close to the Tyne. Extensive range of cask ales to choose from. One of my favourite parts of the bar is the free jukebox complete with hand written track listings. The outside seating area is partly covered by the bridge that makes it perfect on a rainy evening.
L. S.
Smashing Bar,lovely pint, great friendly service, beautiful views parts of our wonderful river and city 😀
R. R.
Brill pub in a Brill place. Now if you could get on tap Sam Smith's Pure Brew I would give you 6 stars....
S. B.
Decent select of beers, atmospheric but overiding smell of old fat..... even outside
M. S.
Great staff, super dog friendly and top notch beers.
C. W.
A great variety of music and culture all spread out over an amazing under the bridge setting. Staff all friendly and attentive providing a great selection of your favourite tipple. My favourite get away in the summer and my cosey place in the winter!!
J. G.
Lively bar with regular live bands and events, also serve a great range of beers and cider. Definitely one of the best pub/bars for chilling with a beer on a summer night with plenty of outside seating and a good chance that a band is on.
M. B.
I wanted to get some food but picked a bad time. I think it was busy because people on their lunch hour. Anyhow that was my fault and not the bars. Good point free duke box. I do intend going back.
B. A.
Great place, lovely staff and fantastic live music. A bit busy on a sunny day however the venue allows the time waiting for a drinks order to pass by painlessly
L. A.
Perfect place no matter the weather conditions but certainly thrives in the hotter climates. The winning combination of live music and a BBQ is nothing short of perfect, not to mention the great selection of wylam beers. Great staff also.
D. T.
Okay bar, good atmosphere but new staff a little bit arrogant, maybe an age thing, bless.......... great bar, overall, really like it
J. E.
Great food. Great beer. Feels covi safe as much as outdoor seating at a pub can be. Try the falafel it's gorgeous
S. &. M.
Lovely place. Jukebox and reasonable drinks prices. I hope the hill is still open. Nowt better than the Tyne bar Hill on a summers day. It is the epitome of summer in Newcastle. Lots of love for the Tyne bar x
Ps. Only disappointing thing is I can't find any information on the tyne bar website about disabled access or toilets. I can't recall ever seeing any disabled toilets which is a huge shame. Please correct me if I'm wrong Tyne bar??
T. i.
As expected to be busy . Seemed like with all posters scattered around walls they have varieties of bands . Sat night i went it was disco . Seem very friendly atmosphere . Everyone minding there own buisness it does get mentioned a lot ... hear people when out and about going to the tyne bar popular place
J. A.
One of my favourite bars in Newcastle. Great location and selection of beers. Free jukebox and £1.60 top shelf is a nice touch too.
C. A.
Excellent pub, best beer garden in town. Lie on the hill, drink in hand and take in some rarely seen Newcastle sunshine.
Good live music too, and often has a BBQ outside
L. H.
Good stopping-off point after a walk along the river from the city centre. Good choice of beers, interesting decor and nice food.
I. S.
Staff are friendly, IPA is lovely, and there's a really nice vibe there by the canal.
M. S.
Good selection of beers and coffees. Great beers garden and live music every Sunday afternoon. On a sunny days it's great place to chill out.
J. K.
This bar is a really cool and relaxed place, and I was able to get a tasty burger with fries and a lager for only 6.99. I will definitively come back to The Tyne Bar should I ever visit Newcastle again. The bar is also located right next to the river, and just at the entrance to new festival "This is Tomorrow" taking place at Spillers Wharf, right on the banks of the river Tyne.
T. F.
Really awesome pub, lots of drinks to choose from and a really nice vibe. Jukebox is great and staff are friendly and jolly! Totally worth going to when in Newcastle.
D. B.
Would highly reccomend a visit here. We did the brewery tour and it was very informative. The guy certainly knew his stuff. The beer is to die for. So many concoctions to chose from.
T. W.
Excellent night out. Friendly staff and good food and drink.
S. D.
Simple bar, great beer and historic surrounding.... What more can you ask for
P. C.
Eclectic, friendly and a wide variety of beers to chose from. Live entertainment on selected days and great background music at other times, check it out, you won't be disappointed.
L. M.
Good dog friendly bar with live music! Food gets stopped when live bands are on but overall a good place with plenty indoor and outdoor seating!
C. S.
Nice bar, friendly staff. Good outdoor seating areas. Well worth a visit if you're in the toon
P. C.
Takes an age to get served when busy could do do with a decent premium lager ie peroni or Becks otherwise great location on a nice day
J. S.
A hidden gem. Friendly customers and staff, great and unique ales, dog friendly, unique decor and loads of seating, indoor and outdoor. Would recommend highly! Also have live music on Sunday afternoon.
D. R.
This is a very good pub with a fine selection of drinks, particularly the range of cask beers that are available. Music is provided by the excellent juke box and at weekends there are live bands who play under the arch of Glasshouse Bridge which runs overhead. The food is tasty and inexpensive. In fact when I was there during the winter on a Tuesday, if you bought a pint you got a free meal. There are seats outside overlooking the river and the Ouseburn which joins the Tyne at this point. On a sunny weekend afternoon many people sit on the grassy knoll and listen to the bands. This pub is very busy particularly at the weekend but the staff are fast and efficient and I have never had to wait too long to be served.
R. D.
Excellently organised for safety and outside socialising. My first time going to a pub since February and I felt very safe and happy in the environment they have created 😊
M. S.
Different from your conventional chains with a whole variety of beers to choose from
R. H.
Nice selection of beers, outside seating area and often live entertainment on. Since the grass hill area has been closed though there is now not enough seating outside and is all concrete.
S. B.
Possibly my favourite pub in Newcastle. Amazing outside space for drinking. Try to go when there's live music or DJs on.
Also, they have a cheap beer shelf in the fridge... always a winner
S. O.
The Tyne Bar has a great atmosphere, perfect location and lovely staff. Service here is always as quick as it can be, and the selection of drinks on offer is a delight to anybody who enjoys a craft beer. The coffee here is from the local Ousburn Coffee Company and is a far cry better than you're average pub coffee.
G. B.
Lovely afternoon sitting outside, enjoying the band and drinking good beer!
C. M.
The kind of place you should think of when you think about a great place to eat simple but good bar food, watch a band, and drink a range of local and national craft beers and real ales. Hard not to like the place, and it's an awesome place to be when the sun is shining.
N. T.
Lovely atmosphere, no cider on offers however. More for beer lovers I'd say but well worth a visit!
P. R.
Great beers and good value good. Nice interior, but also has seating outside. Sometimes has live music. Other good pubs nearby. A hidden gem.
P. M.
Great staff and service, relaxed atmosphere would definitely recommend.
C. W.
Love it... Lots of outside tables and easy to order via W8r app.
J. C.
Nice place, even you can play with the dog of the bar, but only when it's available, cos it always chose stay with the girls who scratch its back, I cannot judge it, I'd do the same hahahahahahahahahaha
V. S.

A. C.
Great to be able to have a pint here highly recommended and the food is a must try

a. c.
Great pub, friendly staff great, music
J. G.
Fantastic old timey rock 'n roll orientated town bar, near the river, and it sides beside a locke on the ouseburn canal, which is bizarrely a striking focal point even though it's just essentially a large gate. The pub sits snug under a bridge and the ambience is great, overall it's a friendly feeling environment, with live bands often playing outside and a good selection of beers, this is a fantastic place to grab a pint and sit on the large embankment just next to the place (even though you're not really supposed to) during the Spring and summer during the evening and watch the sun set on what is one of Britain's most impressive views you can have with alcohol in hand, the river Tyne through the bridges. 😀
D. r.
Funky sort of place great choice of Beers and nice food.
R. S.
Fantastic location. Well kept good range of beers. Friendly staff. Ticks all the boxes. Did I mention the fantastic location and good beer?

Cracking bar, excellent choice of ales, and if there's a band on under the bridge then it's guaranteed to be a good night. Toilets are tiny, long queue if its busy.

Famous pub. Famous for its range of craft beers, real ales and ciders. Famous for the views of the river Tyne and the bridges. Famous for the sunset. Famous for its free jukebox. Famous for its (sadly gone) pubcat Craig David. Famous for its bogs. Famously not redecorated in ages. Part of the Ouseburn circuit of pubs. Famous locally anyway.
S. T.
