Absolutely love this place... Quite regularly go for the Sunday carvery, and as we enjoy it so much, we booked in for Christmas dinner(my first ever time eating out for Xmas Dinner). Our first booking was sadly cancelled due to covid, but alas we made it for 2021... Stilton and mushroom on top of brochetta, then off to the food bar to fill up our plates with ham, turkey, and beef with a selection of delicious roasted vegetables(and I mean delicious mmm).. A choice of 2 gravies, one with onion, and one without... a selection of sauces too... Too full to eat pudding so the staff happily boxed ours up to take out. Staff are very accommodating and are eager to make your stay welcoming and comfortable. There is ample sitting positions in a very spacious room... I recommend this place to everyone... See you soon I'm sure 😃

Cannot recommend enough! Staff are really friendly, the choices on the menu are very wide ranging - much more so than average and that’s on top of a really nice carvery, been several times now and the meals have been delicious - the fish and chips are a standout, portions are very generous. Dessert is on a whole other level all together - I have never come across any like it - to say they are huge is an understatement! They have a ‘cake-away’ service for them too…On top of all this the prices are very reasonable- we had seven adult meals and drinks and 5 desserts all for under £100. Will be back for sure!

Usually enjoy the meals at this chain but this branch disappointed. The table had the old pub look, been wiped but could do with a clean. The menus had samples of various meals options stuck to them, again in need of a clean. Nothing like a nice coffee to end a meal and this was nothing like a nice coffee. More a cup of brown water with a slight coffee taste.

My husband and I had an evening meal. It was really nice value for money and a very pleasant experience. We then had our breakfast there, it was divine, plenty of it all piping hot and well cooked, well done to the chefs that work there. We will defo be back and tell our friends n family about it. Carvery was really nice food, the meat was beautiful and all of the veg just right, staff lovely and friendly - great with kids. Just the place itself could do with a bit of a refurb. The tables are scratched to hell, the leather cracked on the seats etc it's very dated inside - hence 4*

Visited on a bank holiday around 11am (I don't believe it had been open long as there was only 1 table occupied) and was disappointed that the table and kids playing area was unclean, had to wipe away food and spit from toys and the carpet so that my 11 month old could play. My partner enjoyed his meal of macaroni cheese with chicken peri peri, however I got the carvery and was thoroughly disappointed. Veg was watery and tasteless, the meat was dry and I'm not sure if the mashed potato even contained real potatoes. The staff were friendly enough and I did try to speak my concerns over my dish to one of them but she was distracted by a large table of guests - by the time she circled back we needed to get going for the little one to have a sleep. Wouldn't be rushing back.

Service is always great here especially when you have kids normally loads for them to do but the last time there was really only the grabber machine and the under 5s area as all of the other machines where either empty or not working the food was alright I mean I enjoyed mine (chicken and ribs) but not many of the rest of us did portions are really good for the price. So can't really complain personally I have never had a bad meal here. We will be trying the breakfast at some point so stay tuned folks

All the staff are very friendly especially in particular Shirley.Shirley took an order of desserts and drinks/coffees from our table. We didn’t need to go back to the till. One of our favourite places to come for a meal. The food is amazing and the cakes are to die for. We always recommend this restaurant and will always come back. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and happy to help. The restaurant itself is clean and tidy. It's really big and you have plenty of room do you don't feel like your rubbing shoulders with strangers.

I went here for breakfast in Newcastle. Its a buffet breakfast so you can go up with your plate and get whatever you want.

What a great country pub. Friendly atmosphere and staff. A fantastic range of meals including an all week carvary at good prices. The drink prices are as usual price too. There is also a fab selection of homemade cakes and icecream. A fab outdoor seating area close to the airport and airport hotels. Would strongly reccommend this pub/restaurant to visit for good food.

I gave this pub a five star review, because not only was the food lovely, even though we only ordered a sandwich, which was what I was expecting, it came with chips and a side salad too, we were so pleased as we were very hungry because we didn't have any breakfast, anyway the point is I spoke to the manage, Lorraine, to complement one of her member of staff, I do Believe her name was Danielle, she was so helpful and had a smile on her face all the time when she was serving us. We have a new addition now and always need a table with space for a pram/pushchair and this has always been met with no problems, staff are so lovely, food is amazing especially the carvery! Gorgeous food well cooked and well presented. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. A nice touch which is much appreciated was that when we were asked if everything was ok, the server removed a wooden spoon from the cutlery holder on our table and we weren't disturbed again whilst eating. A simple yet effective way of dealing with what can be an intrusion whilst you eat. I will definitely be back more frequently. Add to that a lovely welcoming clean place to dine.

Kids food like pizzas are cheap Poundland type of pizzas, the kind you get from a local farm foods when you get a couple of microwave pizzas for a pound, the kids pasta is bland, with just a plain tomato 🍅 sauce on it, but the kids chips and burgers suited my kids, some of the food is decent, some of the cakes are really nice, like the cheesecake, they have gaming consoles for the kids, place always looks neat and tidy, and apart from the gammon the meat on the carvery is okay, don't like the mix grills, sausages always look very anaemic, I know there cooked because they told me they use a heat device to make sure, but don't like the colour of them, the meat on the mix grill is tough and not good quality, & don't rate the lamb shank, but it was first time I had it so might just be me, but the majority of the food is decent and it's a good sized menu, cakes are decent, but like most cakes full of calories, but most cakes are, but these are filling cakes and would do two people easily, smart looking inside and outside, like alot of places, some good staff, but also some rude staff, but overall I'd visit again and also very close to the metro station & if your flying from Newcastle it's a decent place to go before your flight as the airport is just a mile up the road. But over all a decent place to go, and I've heard on some nights they have entertainment on, not sure when or what it is as I've never been at a night time, I've been twice now and both times around 2pm'ish & suited me as it seemed quiet at that time, obviously it wasn't peak hours which suited me. I just thought I'd edit my review slightly, as I was in the other week and had a cracking meal, I didn't have my children in with me this time & had a simple meal but was very tasty and sounds normal but had a pint of lager and was ice cold and price wasn't to bad either, wasnt too busy, and I'm glad they have a separate children's area, as if I'd been put in there it wouod of given me a headache, but I sat in a nice quiet area, one of the staff asked me if the food was ok and asked if my food was ok and everything was ok, very nicely spoken to and checked on, and polite, only thing was it was before my food was served and he looked really nervous, but as soon as I responded to him he relaxed abit and was nice chap to talk to and very polite, don't remember his name, but he done well, but like most places some food is hit and miss, but on this occasion, the food was piping hot and very tasty 😃 so think I might of been abit harsh in my initial review, as on this occasion everything was spot on and was very easy to get a parking space aswell 😀

This used to be a great place to eat but it sadly went down hill a couple of years ago. However, happy to say that's its back to its best!! Good range of food and booze at good prices, the food is really good and plentiful (please try the pies!!) and the staff professional. Good to see this place back on form and handy for the airport. You do have to pay for parking on arrival but you do get this refunded.

We didn't have to wait long for table. We had a carvery everything was really nice except the gravy was lukecwarm. We were taken to a table, and the lights above it were broken so we ate in the dark. Visited a number of times pre-lockdown and post-lockdown as I have been staying at the Premier Inn next door with friends. Absolute godsend for breakfast and evening meal if you're in the hotel. Great quality and great value every time. Always helpful staff who despite being busy, always look out for everyone especially with all the constraints of distancing and cleaning post lockdown. Usual Greene King fare with plenty of choice on the menu and good bar selection. Looks to be great for kids (well they always sound as though they're having a good time) so a good value meal out for families too. Depending on the time of year, there's tables outside for drinks or meals as well. The cake and ice cream counter always looks very tempting so allow for dessert. Best Greene King pub that I go to and will be in there again at the end of July 2021. Top marks!

However, I have not gave a full 5 stars as upon exiting, they had a sign thanking the uniformed services stating that they give 20% off food & drink for blue light card holders - which I am. Therefore, I could have saved some money off the total bill but this sign was was nowhere to be seen at the entrance (Sunday 4th October 2020) It is useless advertising this thanks at the exit.

After booking in for my wife's birthday and having my booking confirmed by telephone I rang up on the day to find out no booking had been put on the system after being offered a later time on the day we arrived 4 adults and 4 children the food was as expected tasty and hot

I haven't been in this place in years and years. I ordered the carvery which proved to be a mistake.The beef was full of gristle, the stuffing was more liquid than solid and the veg was becoming rather tired. I couldn't fault the blonde front of house lady (didn't get her name) she was utterly wonderful and so helpful and patient with our rather large group. Next time I shall order something else as lots of our party thoroughly enjoyed their meal.

Very polite and professional staff, very clean and all the staff making us feel very welcome, we only had drinks but food looked good, good choice of drinks. Felt very safe plenty of sanitiser and excellent covid measures, good track and trace. I would definitely recommend a visit. Additional Have tried this place a few times since money has been spent upgrading it but seems already to be going down in preparation and style. There's a child's section which is good because the noise coming from it was just so bad so sit far away from that unless of course you have hyperactive children. Also the carvery at is ok but better to get freshly cooked from the meal selection, on the menu a policy of asking if your meal is ok good, but has the same old route of if your meal is bad of offering a sweet ect. Early evening is quite but have tried this venue a few times and while the food is passable nothing to get excited about.

My girlfriend and I visited on a Sunday lunch time for the cavery as we had heard good things about it. We booked in advance via the website (we highly recommend booking a table, many people were waiting around for some time. This place is very popular on Sundays) we were seated and then informed that we order food at the bar. The que to be served was big but I was served relatively fast as there was an abundance of staff. The carvery was good. A strong 8 out of 10. The veg was cooked to perfection. As far as drinks go, I like draught larger thus opted for the Peroni but as always premium beer comes at a premium price. Overall it was a nice experience, we'd definitely be visiting again. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place is clean, warm and welcoming 😊

Went today with my husband and was very disappointed, I was there last week with a friend and it was a lovely carvery meal, but tonight it was shocking, the cauliflower cheese was so hard my knife couldnt cut it, and the roasties were Rocks and caked in black pepper which I would never use on my dinner as it's a personal choice to use it, the dinner was slopped on the plate and smothered in gravy overflowing on the plate, tonight it was very very disappointing so what I'm trying to say is sadly it's very hit and miss as to how your food is going to be, so dont go with high expectations as you may be disappointed as I was, I did complain when asked was everything ok but then never saw him again cos really they dont want to know your not happy, even when the food was left on the plate uneaten alarm bells should have alerted them to ask again but they didn't, so I left hungry

The only real redeeming factor is the nice staff, excluding the higher-up that refuses to follow the dress code like the rest of the employees. The food was average across the board, with very mediocre deserts across the board. The "cookie monster" dessert lacked cookie dough pieces, and the crumble was in shambles with undercooked dough/crumble. Overall, quite expensive for effectively subpar food.

So if ever I am back at the Premier I will definitely be going back to the Wheatsheaf - and so should you.
