Had a fantastic day here Sunday with my mate. The new owners are great people, always welcoming with a smile and up for a laugh. Good drinks, boardgames, people. It's location to the other attractions in Caldicot, primarily Caldicot Castle, is excellent. Will definitely be coming here again soon. Thanks fellas!

This is my go-to pub in Caldicot. There is a great walking route I take down the coastal path, then past the actual castle, and lands me at the pub every time. There is a great selection of food and drinks. Matt changes it often and theres a variety of theme nights too. They have also done a lot to ensure safety since covid. Dog friendly (apart from Fridays and Sundays (check with them, is usually due to carvery)) and have a cozy log fire and blankets in the winter months. Always friendly and if you need something specific, they're always happy for you to ask

This is a local restaurant for us so we thought we would try it, the staff are very well mannered, however it's very hard to actually get them to the table, when we were present the restaurant wasn't busy but we still had to go to the bar to ask if we could place an order, the menu is very limited and is basic foods, however that reflects in the price, for a main meal it's £6.95, I ordered the liver and onions, the liver was cooked to perfection however it was let down by the rest of the dish, the mash tasted like it'd been reheated, it was very dry and tasteless, the onion gravy was lacking onions and taste, the two people I was with were a bit disappointed also as there food wasn't great either, to receive our food we waited 45 minutes, all in all I personally wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a nice meal out.

There's a new manager and he's changed the rules. No children after 7.30 and no dogs allowed inside. This was a family friendly pub and dog walkers frequented the bar lunchtimes. He's lost our trade and many more.

First time visiting this pub in August 21 and I can honestly say that its a great friendly pub and very welcoming and the staff are amazing and made me feel very welcome. The food was well worth the money and I really enjoyed it so complements to the chef ;) I look forward to travelling across the bridge again soon for some more awesome pub food served by amazing staff. Second time visiting the Castle Inn in late September 21 and this time it was to try the Sunday Carvery and I would say exactly the same as I said before, great pub, amazing staff and awesome food and again, complements to the chef ;) I would recommend the Castle Inn and next time I would like to enjoy some great food in a great atmosphere with welcoming staff, I will be driving across the bridge again.

Safety: All staff wear masks and lots of places outside to keep a safe distance 😊 Staff: Best part of the experience! it's never easy to go out with a child and a dog, however the staff made it incredibly easy and enjoyable (I would give them 6 stars if I could!). Thank you guys! Food: (Castle in burger and dirty fries) it might be the isolation time but this is one of the best burguers I've had in a long time! Really good quality! Prices: Fair! this might not be the cheapest place in the area but it's got great value for money. The total was fair for the food and experience. Extras: I loved the fact they gave me some dog treats (bisquits) and water for my dog when I didn't even had to ask for it. And we bought a £2 dog ice cream which was great. For my kid the staff kept helping and bringing anything they could to make it a good experience. Thumbs up!!

Visited on Thursday and will definitely be back! We planned to visit caldicot castle as a large family group (10) with a dog. Went to the pub on a whim for lunch. It was brilliant! We managed to get a couple of tables outside next to the play area. It is was great to know that the children were occupied! The menu was great, definitely something for everyone was very reasonably priced! We ordered (lots) of food, basket meals, salads, burgers, sides and kids meals. We didn't have to wait long at all. The food was so delicious! Portions were great, kids meals had loads of chips! Definitely worth a visit! Would also like to add that the pub is very dog friendly! Loved the individual water bowels and keg of water to ensure your dog stays hydrated in the nice weather!🐶 We don't live close by buy will definitely be back! Craving the castle in burger and those chips already 😋

Booked a table and turned up on time. The pub was quiet inside but lots of people were enjoying a drink outside. We we given a table but then had to go looking for menus and order at the bar. I would have liked a member of staff to approach us with menus and to take our order. The food was ok but just pub grub.

From the time we walked in both the staff and the ambiance were welcoming. The menu is perhaps not as extensive as some other places but there is plenty on offer, especially when you add the various specials board options. A professional and polite waitress took or order swiftly. We ordered the horseshoe gammon, the half-chicken and a side order of onion rings. Both mains came with chips and salad. At the risk of sounding like an employee, I have to say I was tremendously surprised at how enjoyable the food was. Generous portion sizes and we had not long to wait, although it is fair to note we were the only patrons eating. The only negative I could possibly point out, and it really is a minor negative, is that we struggled to find their opening and food serving hours. Perhaps they should consider adding their hours to google and/or put a sign outside. All in all though we were more than happy, they really deserve to be busier than they were. The food was good quality and the environment very welcoming, it is clear the management are really making a driven effort to give a good customer experience. I have no doubt that in the coming winter months we shall endeavour to return to enjoy more from the menu and a few ales by the log fire.

We’ve always enjoyed coming here and wanted to find the time to try since the takeover. A little disappointed with the food (I had the trio of sausages which were all the same type and the cheaper ones you get at fairs), while my wife’s burger also seemed to have the ‘cheaper’ meat. Still a great place and a nice touch with the dog treats that are brought ‘round (it’s much better now we can bring our dog inside), but the food came across as much lower quality compared to the picture post on social media.

The Castle Inn. Tried the Scampi and Chips/salad with the family and was the best I’ve had! Locally sourced salad (you could tell the difference) and the scampi....wow. Compliments to the chef!

A good, cozy local pub in Caldicot, Monmouthshire. Serves the average drinks with the added bonus of San Miguel 😛. Fairly pricey considering the other local pubs, but still a worthwhile visit if you're in the area and want a drink in a nice, clean pub.
