Reviews of The Dairyman's Daughter
A. G.
Among all island's pubs and restaurants we visited in early spring 2022 this one is a WINNER!
Decent portions of very well served and delicious food. Also fairly priced in comparison to other pubs.
Super friendly, hard working staff and amazing interior full of historic items.
We will come back for sure!
G.
Lovely location with loads of historical items throughout. Great food especially the sausage and mash with onion gravy and the fish stew. Good amount of different ales, spirits and soft drinks. Worth a visit.
K.
Gets very busy, but when I called and emailed to book a table I got no response. Thankfully there was a table for 2 available when we got there. Order at bar. Absolutely excellent ploughman’s, highly recommend! My partners sandwich and chips looked great too, and reasonably priced. Between this and the nearby shops, the perfect place to spend a morning/afternoon.
A. K.
Lovely pub, great decor and massive portion sizes. Service was friendly and efficient too.
Forget the starter... head for a main course and go home stuffed 😁
A. P.
OMG ! 10 out of 10 ! The food was perfection, the portions were big, the staff were so attentive ! i had the steak, cooked and seasoned perfectly, the home made chips were really nice, worth talking about on their own. My daughter had the Chicken Caesar salad, it was huge and had loads of very nice chicken in it ! ALL very tasty !!!!!! All in a lovely setting !
B. J.
The pub is a museum, of old do farming items, pictures. Equipment, drinks jars and everyday items from across the decades. The. At has a reaiy good selection of alcohol drinks and mineral waters. The menu was a little lum it Ted but the food was something else. Hot, full plates, tasty meals and at a reasonable price. The service was real good too. We weren't kept waiting at all. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Been driving past this place for past 4 years while on my hols yesterday I decided to stop and give it a go as you do.well so glad I did my family loved the food so much I just had to leave a review.
The food was quality with very good size meals too.the service was very good with fast delivery of our meals to the table.

You need to be really hungry to eat here.
Fantastic portions, well presented, friendly staff.
Never fails for us in a dozen visits. It's a must go to when on the Island. Oh, they also serve beer.
K. E.
Three excellent meals here over the last 2 weeks. Good selection of food with daily specials. Staff very friendly. Seating inside and out. Definitely recommend if in the area.
G. M.
Enjoyed visiting and it has lovely layout and atmosphere. Excellent facilities for disabled. Good menu and the food was presented very well, unfortunately I only went for a field event and a drink Recommend a visit, lots of parking and interesting shops.
T. H.
Amazing place, despite the weather there was plenty to see, quirky craft shops lovely pub for lunches snacks or just a tea, coffee the glass blowing was awesome, could have watched longer, will definitely be back again
K. R.
This place is great, Local produce even beer. Food was very good ,great service , well laid out lots of other businesses on the same site
D. S.
Fantastic food, quick service even though it was mega busy! Friendly staff and enjoyed the entertainment in the marquee outside before we caught our ferry home ..end of a perfect week in IOW
C. H.
Stopped 2 evenings on the trot for dinner. Friendly service, lovely to sit out and the food is really good. Highly recommended
D. B.
The Dairyman's Daughter is a pub that's attached to the Arreton Barns complex of craft shops. Too often this type of establishment is poor quality, expensive, or simply poor - rest assured this not the case with the Dairyman's Daughter.
On our visit, the craft barns complex was busy and pub was also busy - all tables outside were occupied as the weather was good. Nevertheless, once we'd found a table our food order was excellent. Good quality, tasty beefburger and chips - great hand carved ham sandwich served with chips and excellent chutney. The beefburger wasn't as good as that on offer at Harvey Browns down the road, but the chips etc made up for that and the chunky ham sandwich was delightful. Warning - the portions are quite large.
Locally brewed real ales on tap - great to see Isle of Wight beers being supported. Friendly, efficient staff working hard in a busy environment.
A really good pub. Recommended if you're in the area.
E. C.
Popped in today for a sneaky ice cream without the children. Great service and delicious treats. A little overpriced in my opinion but we knew that before we went and told ourselves it was a holiday treat.
K. M.
Good food and excellent service. Would highly recommend the Cheesy Streaker burger, one of the best I've had, comes with a good salad including grated carrot. On the same site as Arreton Barns which has lots of shops to visit including Hatter & Hate selling vintage items, try and catch it when its open.
S. C.
Interesting interior with lots of quirky collections from years gone by. Good menu, pleasant helpful staff.
H. D.
Always fantastic portion sizes. Good value, reasonable quality and very consistent
P. W.
We arrived here out of the blue on our way to the zoo.the food we got was fantastic, fresh and worth the price tag we had the fisherman's platter, crispy battered cod, plump prawns and a great tasting mackerel pate.
B. G.
Great atmosphere, beautiful decorations. The staff was lovely and the food is very fresh, delicious ! Thank you
L. L.
Rare day off with the hubby and we stopped by one of our favourite haunts for lunch. Only wanted something light so I plumped for a fish finger baguette and my husband chose the ploughman's.
Our order arrived very quickly even though I anticipated a wait as they were busy and I was pleasantly surprised by my baguette.... it was larger than I expected and I didn't realise it came with fries (I probably didn't read the menu that thoroughly)so that was a nice surprise. A small pot of salad garnish, a lemon wedge and beautiful home made pot of tartare sauce.... I definitely recommend it.
Only mild disappointment at my husband's ploughman's as it didn't have any Stilton on it - however - I didn't look at it on the menu so it may well have just said cheddar and brie. ( I'm not trying to be picky, we just love stilton!)
Staff were lovely as usual and very hot on the social distancing and hygiene standards so a big thumbs up from us. We will be back again soon 😃
R. B.
The UDDERLY delicious Dairymans Daughter !!!
Had our Sunday Lunch here today. The staff were friendly and efficient and covid rules were adhered to. We were shown to our table which was in the main part of the building. There was a sun lounge annexe and I believe dogs are welcome as well. It is located at Arreton. The food had to be ordered at the Bar giving table number and had to be paid for once ordered. The food and drink were served in a timely fashion. I had ordered the Roast pork which was presented on a bed of mashed and roasted potatoes, as well as roasted parsley, Apple sauce and the obligatory crackling. This was supplemented with a dish of tasty vegetables of carrots, mange tout, broccoli, carrots and garden peas as well as gravy. My granddaughter opted for the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding which she said tasted scrumptious. All in all it was a delicious and good portioned Sunday lunch and i was glad I HERD about it. I Would highly recommend this Establishment as I for one, will be frequenting the establishment again.

We stumbled across The Dairyman’s Daughter this evening, what a gem! Absolutely amazing! Happily accommodated a large table, excellent choice of children’s meals as well as adults! Specials were a hit. The food was absolutely 5 star! A beautiful cosy, friendly atmosphere. Not often you find somewhere that ticks all the boxes. Can’t wait to come back!
S. O.
A very nice place to eat and drink, great food at reasonable prices along with a good range of beers and ales. Very pleasant surroundings with lots of interesting pictures and other traditional pub decor. Lots of space inside and out and excellent service. Ample parking including for disabled there are also public toilets (also for disabled). The pub has disabled access and staff are happy to assist if they can.
The pub is situated in Arreton craft village which has several craft based shops which include glass blown on site as you watch, art gallery, textiles and many more there is also a gift shop and a farmers produce shop on site. Great for a visit for a pit stop or to lose a few hours.
S. P.
I'd forgotten how good the food is! Had my favourite beer battered fish and loved every bite. My mate had a burger with bacon and cheese as well as salad and chunky chips. Told me that the burger was one of the best he's ever eaten. He finished it and said he was pleased but glad he had that and not the belly buster because that would have been a burger too far 😀!!!!!
O. A.
Really lovely little pub and the meals were delicious, ate here a few times on our holiday and was never disappointed. Staff were friendly. The only downside for some people might be the decor is a bit daunting if you don’t like hunting, taxidermy animals on the walls.
j. p.
Excellent food, fair price and dog friendly. I had lovely roast beef with Yorkshire and a fine selection of vegetables. We will definitely book again soon.
A. B.
It does pub grub and roasts at high speed. It is very popular so booking is recommended. Staff are friendly and efficient. The food is good but certain meals seem more popular than others.
F.
Very busy but bar staff very efficient. Fair selection of beers fom local and overseas breweries. Order food at bar. Food served quickly and piping hot, very large portions. Meat, fish and veggie options, all well prepared and tasty.
n. s.
Attended this evening birthday celebrations.
Great food and excellent quick service also good size portions at reasonable prices.
Would definitely recommend.
Great venue also with plenty of character.
H. G.
Friendly staff, but closes at 9pm on a Saturday. Food came quickly after ordering. My battered fish was overcooked unfortunately but other people's food looked good. Chips were good and a lovely fresh leaf salad.
S. R.
Lovely, cosy pub set just outside of Newport Town centre. The portions were absolutely huge and very reasonably priced! Staff were lovely and knowledgeable about coeliac disease and made sure I was served a lovely gluten free meal! Cannot recommend this place enough. Phenomenal all round!
H. O.
We had an amazing steak meal here and then went back for breakfast. The pub is full of character and we'll decorated. We did find the choice of music irritating though.
M. A. &. C.
Popped in a few times for lunch. Quick service. Lovely food. Friendly staff. Plenty of Quirky little shops in the grounds inc Glass Studio. Maritime Museum. Antiques & Collectables Shop.
T. G.
Excellent place to eat. The food portion were very good and the food was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful
J. C. #.
Wow, Simply Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere, great service.
We had such a visit.
Food was plenty fab and tasted amazing.
M. J.
Lunchtime tagliatelle with side salad and garlic bread. Very tasty. Cleared the plate ! Arrived quickly and served by a lovely friendly waitress. Decent pint of 49er too.
I. S.
Nice pub at the Arreton Barns site (lots of real artisan craft shops - as opposed to bought in crafts).
The pub has indoor and outdoor dining.
The food is good but pricey.
Interesting decor inside with a lot of accordions decking the rafters (see photos!)
Staff were friendly and efficient.
P. W.
On this occasion there were too many dogs present. Believe there should be designated areas. Although we like dogs not everyone does and someone had theirs up on the seats. Not good.
j. c.
Sunday roast was really good ,and tasty , the only part needs looking into is the queueing too order ,one queue , but some jumped the queue obviously unaware others were before them . It's annoying maybe a number too be in line . Food received quickly . Best roast this holiday .
M.
Good choice of ales. Although we didn't eat, choice of baked potatoes and sandwiches amongst other choices. A favourite stop when visiting IOW.
B. M.
Excellent food friendly service reasonable priced food we where lucky and got a table walking in but was busy so recommend that you book a table
C. B.
Really delicious meal, great staff and cosy warm ambient atmosphere.
T. W.
Beautiful place .. amazing food and great portions too .. staff are very helpful and polite .. will be returning
H. S.
The staff were welcoming and friendly and the tables were all socially distanced. The food was absolutely delicious and fantastic portion sizes!
M. R.
Meat loaf, sausage baguette and chill con carne, hot fresh fast service. Efficient team while remaining polite and attentive. The food was expensive compared to your usual wetherspoon or restaurant chain but all in all the price is average for the island. Large sized portions will see you through the day.
S. S.
Very busy but staff were happy to find a table in the back. We had the fish finger baguette and an all day breakfast, the kids had burger/chicken nugget and chips.
All tasted good. Toilets in the restaurant entrance is open for visitors to the surrounding shops to use.
M. S.
First time here, the food is amazing, if you eat fish, I highly recommend the fish pie, plenty of fish in it, the fresh veg is great too. Cheesy garlic bread is also very nice.
T. T.
Excellent food, huge portions at reasonable price. Our party had caeser salad, fish & chips, roman josh curry - all good food. Quick service & nice environment, we ate outside but u could also eat inside
S. L.
Friendly staff, polite and quick. Great vegetarian meals. We had a fab time and enjoyed atmosphere and quirky decorations. This is a great pub which offers great hospitality for a great price.
S. J.
Really nice traditional food and lovely staff
P. B.
Arrived without a booking, chose to sit outside in the lovely courtyard. Swift service and great food that filled our plates. Highly recommend 😍
C. A.
Best All day brunch I've had in a long time! The interior of this place, although fabricated, looks and feels really cozy and old school pub-like.
r. w.
The best soup I've ever tasted. Mulligatawny - Superb! My husband ate burger which was pretty good too. Nice chips.
H. C.
Lovely food. Very quick service. We both had cheeseburgers and the relish was very tasty. Nice setting.
L. A.
Well worth a visit. Beautiful old pub set within a complex of artisan shops. Food was fabulous and the waiting staff were friendly and efficient.
S. T.
Lovely meal here , fantastic staff however paying extra for a naan bread with a curry was surprising ,you don't get charged extra for a burger bun ,bit weird , great food though !!
c. f.
Service great, Lovely food , just wish they did smaller portions as not a big eater but apart from that everything fab
D. H.
Enjoyable food, but we were with a family and could barely move for instructional signs telling us where children weren’t allowed. Not very friendly. I’ve never seen a pub in my hometown (London) do this.
M. G.
The decor is nice and food was good. The staff were nice. It was a little more expensive than I was expecting.
G. B.
Friendly staff. Good menu and portions. Had the pre 5 o'clock menu, was so hot a 'snack' meal was enough for the 3 of us who went.
V. J.
Great place to visit with different shops to look in. The pub was great, staff friendly and the food was good. There's a garden area to enjoy if you prefer to be outside.
B. R.
Great looking place, had some excellent food there and good value. Definitely plan to pop in there if you are visiting Arreton Barn's
R. E.
Great place to eat if you can get in during high season , the portions are huge and the staff are friendly and they allow dogs and children
A. D.
Great food, service and location. Was on the island for a week, went back 3 times! Would recommend to anyone.
K. M.
Nice place, full of character it's like walking through an old life, so many past life machinery to choose from, caters for most 1 star missing only, because hard to keep the little ones entertained :)
A. L.
First time we've ever been service and food excellent will definitely be returning next year when back on island you need to book a table mr A.laws
S. C.
You get a good plateful of food, certainly not fine dining but value for money gets it 5 stars and the staff were pleasant too.
C. W.

E. C.

C. C.
Great food and drinks. Friendly , recommend 👌
P. G.
Great food a d selection of drinks. Nice outside seating area.
C. O.
Nice relaxed pub. I had fish and chips which were fine, my wife had a rump steak which was very tough. She had trouble cutting through it with the steak knife and ended up sharing some of my fish. Our dog was very happy with his steak though!
N. C.
Very dog friendly. Allowed us to sit inside with our excitable 7 month old puppy last Tuesday.
D. P.
Great atmosphere with lovely decoration using old signs, pictures etc. Food and good beers.
S. W.
Always visit for lunch when we are over on the island, and it is always lovely, good value, tasty, decent service and good portion sizes.
D. H.
Food very very and good size portion really enjoyed the beer batter fish and chips will go again before the end of my holiday
P. F.
Went to a birthday lunch, recently 10 in the party.
Good position, for seating in the sunroom.
Excellent menu, with a specials menu as well!
Large portions, wonderfully cooked. The food was served quickly, by very efficient team. Generous amount of food on the plates.
The helpful staff, even supplied a knife and plates, for the cake to be cut and served, at no extra charge. The cake was bought to the party one of the guests.
I wish to say a big thank you to Jane and the team for a enjoyable birthday lunch party!
T. A.
Great place to visit and enjoy a good meal prices not to bad staff friendly and helpful
P. H.
The weather was awful so this was a welcomed opportunity for a coffee break.
Decent coffee I have to say but too early for a plate of chips...
T. B.
Stopped for food and was happy I did. Food was good and portion size was reasonable. Price was good also. Would say about mid price range so not to expensive. Kids meals were a really good size and would probably suit an adult that wasn't overly hungry. Will stop in again
G. M.
Was very busy and very warm the day I visited. Decent place to visit with cold drinks and good food. Staff were very helpful...bar staff a bit short in attitude but it was busy at the time.
A. T.
Relaxed atmosphere for a pleasant evening out, staff always friendly and helpful. Good selection of beers plus the ever present offerings from Ringwood. Food has not yet reached their pre pandemic peak but on the whole tasty and well presented except for the lasagna which elicited a new pub game of "spot the meat", either find a new recipe or change the name to cheese lasagne!! The Dairyman's was always our go to pub for a night out but sadly has a way to go to recapture that position.
T.
Delightful meal at the Dairymans daughter. I chose the beer battered cod and hubby had the pie of the day, steak and kidney. We were not disappointed.. 😁
I. A.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. Had the Cheeky Breakfast Burger which was delicious and came with a large portion of proper steak-cut chips.
K. P.

We had tried to get a table at 2 other pubs before we landed here and I’m so glad the first 2 couldn’t accommodate us! Such lovely staff, friendly, smiley checking in you had all you needed. The food is out of this world. Huge portions and extremely good quality. Piping hot and cooked fresh. Great decor lots to see and lovely garden area although we sat inside. We have booked to return Tuesday and already looking forward to it. I am sure that we will eat here many times this week as we’re here until Saturday. Can’t wait! Thank you for your hospitality. Would highly recommend, you will not be disappointed eating here!

S. A.
Very quick and efficient service and amazing dishes. Had the pie of the day and it was the best pie I've had. Kids meals are very substantial and all round a relaxing atmosphere. Returned twice and will defo return on our next visit to IoW.
S. T.
Lovely food with big portions. The staff were friendly, fast and efficient. Ordering from your smart phone for both drinks and food was simplicity itself. Will definitely visit again. We usually cook for ourselves in the caravan, but we decided to start trying some of the local eateries. Glad we started here.

P. C.
Great food, not table service (order at the bar) but the food is great and generous, and the people are nice. Does exactly what you would expect a pub to do. Will go again and would recommend for a lunch pit stop as you visit the Island
A. W.
We had another great meal at the Dairymans Daughter you can go wrong 10/10

M. C.
This really should be visited. A charming building, great food and staff.
-.
We love it here. The staff are always so helpful, polite and friendly. They have a menu to satisfy all ages, any appetites; light bites to pub favourites. Food is always tasty, hot, fresh and good sized portions for the price paid. The premises are aIways spotlessly clean and tidy. I love the decor of the pub. What with the paintings/art on the wall, the brickwork and wooden beams, you almost feel transported back to the Georgian or Victorian times. In the colder months they have an open fire lit too, which looks & feels so warm and cosy. There is also plenty of parking spaces on the onsite car park.
T. m.
Great food and service
Would visit again
B. S.
What could be more delightful, having a lovely lunch at the Dairyman's Daughter pub on beautiful sunny day. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Four of us all went for the mega burger, I'm not sure if that is what its called but it was truly mega, sadly we couldn't do it Justice, apologies. Isle of wight beef cooked to perfection. My only disappointment was that we ate so much we couldn't manage a pudding and they looked so delicious, ho well will just have to make a return visit.
D. P.
Great selection of food and great coffee as standard. Friendly staff and reasonable prices make this a great spot to refuel while visiting the rest of the activities and shops at the barns.
S. H.
Was very tasty and very generous portions and the sundaes were delish
S. C.

We visited on our last night whilst staying in Isle of Wight and it was a great descision. The food is absolutely delicious. I had the fish pie which I would definitely would eat again and my husband had the Steak which was so good. The food was hearty and super tasty. The puddings were just as yummy and filling. Try the sticky pudding with custard.
Service was brilliant! This is a must visit place.
R. J. M.

D. h.
Loved it ...Great food. Great staff
s. w.
Tried to order an all day breakfast at 11.50am only to be told they had finished serving breakfast but order at 12.00 noon and we can have one. They are advertised on the menu as being served 10am until 5pm so why the wait? When it arrived the bacon was overcooked to the point where the fork wouldn't go in it and it couldn't be cut with a knife.
S. C.
We have just had a meal here, the food was fine, and the young staff were friendly enough. But the older, I'm assuming, manager was very rude and surly. We were not asked once if we would like a sweet, or even acknowledged as we left. We have eaten there many times, but I feel the atmosphere has deteriorated. Shame.
i.
very happy and friendly staff and quick service too. lovely food and drinks and good range of different dietary options, including clear labelling on the menu of allergens contained in each dish. cozy inside too. loved it!
G. T.
We probably eat here to much great food , staff and atmosphere highly recommended
p. h.
Went with friends for Sunday lunch. Had 3 roast dinners and 1 Steak. Really tasty food, steak came with all the trimmings. Everything well cooked and delicious. Very friendly waitress, Shannon, we will definitely return. Honestly couldn't fault it. Gravy was lovely too 😁😁thanks
J. B.
Stopped here for lunch. Very well managed with the restrictions in place. All staff were lovely, everything was very clean and wiped down as soon as anyone moved. The food portions where a lot bigger than we were expecting, but very tasty. If you're visiting Arreton barns The Dairyman's Daughter is well worth a visit
L. a. D.
Lovely meal and such big portions a dessert to share was more than enough.

Worth a solid four stars. Food was good - my recommendation is do not order starters. The main portions are huge!
Lots of vege options and kids options. Staff were friendly although we were waiting sometime to get the bill. In the end we just walked to the bar and paid.
Overall good experience with friendly staff. Price wise I thought it was very reasonable.
G. G.
Not busy, lovely food. Not too much choice. Good value for money
m. C.
Absolutely loved it , the staff were great.
Lovely eating inside , felt like an older pub which was good.
The food was amazing , looked and tasted great. Portion size was good.
Definitely worth a visit for a meal.

I enjoyed a delicious lunch with friends in the lovely setting at The Dairyman's Daughter restaurant.
T. D.
Came here today for lunch, I had the blt baguette and my partner had the iow sausage baguette, the both were delicious. First time here, will most definitely be back. Also the staff were very Friendly. Would most definitely recommend 👌
I. T.
The farm is a brilliant spot to discover. Me and my family had our lunch here and we were all amazed about food presentation and taste. Don't have enough words to describe how good it was!Bought also some fresh eggs at their lovely shop also.

Had the breakfast on half price for eat out to help out. Would absolutely not pay full price for it as it was exceedingly average. No hash browns, tomato was undercooked and the sausages, whilst good quality, were flavoured with what I assumed was leeks. Whilst this would be nice for a toad in the hole or sausages and mash I felt it was an unnecessarily bold choice for breakfast sausages. Nobody in our party enjoyed them greatly and I feel that simple Gloucester old spot sausages would be a better choice. The bacon, however was fantastic. The service was fine but nothing special about our experience and I honestly felt like the welcoming staff member was slightly less than polite, when we asked for a table for 8 (all from one household) he seemed as though we had offended him personally and that it would be a burden to facilitate such a large party. We were perfectly fine to be split into 2 parties of four but I feel as though he could have been more accomodating than just repeating "Eight!?" Before making the arduous journey to his superior's side to ask if that was ok. When he returned, he was very blunt with his explanation of how we'd have to be on two separate tables in a very "like it or lump it" fashion. When he explained the breakfast "menu" he was too fast, vague and left no time for any questions. I'd say that it would be perfectly fine if they were very busy but there was two other tables sat inside and maybe two outside. Having worked in hospitality myself, I understand how important it is to make every table feel welcome and special but he just did not seem to care about our experience, only about getting us in and out.

Called in to have a coffee, but the roast Sunday lunches being served looked so nice we decided to stay for lunch, and we weren't disappointed. Nice freshly cooked veg were served on a side dish. Plenty of meat, a huge Yorkshire pudding with the beef, pig in blanket and stuffing with the turkey, plus roasted, mashed potato, honeyed parsnip and gravy. Just under £13 each, so we'll priced as well.
It's very well organised, tables never stay dirty once vacated, the staff are on top of everything.
J. S.
Lovely food. Dog and children friendly. Good service. Large portions
L. P.
Went for lunch and certainly didn't need dinner! Very large portions..well presented and hot. Highly recommend
A. B.
Most beautiful place and yummy food and nice place for the family to go
C. H.
Nice setting and lovely food. Portions are generous and freshly cooked - excellent
K. H.
Exciting fun little restaurant with lots of things to do around the restaurant.
The food is large portions which will leave you full for the next couple of days!
We spent £60 for four meals and drinks which is pretty normal everywhere.
Would highly recommend the dairymans daughter
5/5
L. C.
Great food however the staff were hovering over our shoulders and continuously asking if we were done.
M. B.
Fantastic plase to visit had the best chilli con Carney I've ever had. Brilliant
L. H.
Good food value for money gets busy
A. &. L. S.
It was the 3rd time we visited last night for a meal, and never been dissapointed. We love this place and it's warm cosy atmosphere. Food was delicious. Staff helpful and friendly. Will definately be back soon!! 😘
A. P.
Great food lovely location and great staff
K. S.
Great atmosphere. Lovely fresh food. Would go back. Massive portions. Quite pricey but worth it. Better than Horse and Hounds around the corner if you are debating between them
k. g.
Good fast service, value priced food.
T.
Nice pub, popped in for a drink, seemed only one person dealing with orders seemed strange I felt should had been 2 people.Prices for drinks high, but the UK after the pandemic are increasing prices. I feel this will come back and bite theses business in the rear. We listen to various conversations from people all saying the same. Perhaps is it their suppliers increasing their prices to the pubs.I have notice no one can get staff is it their wages are low is that the reason or is it greed let's claw back what we lost.Sorry it seems uk business are all doing the same
H. W.
Live this place so many craft to see being made very interesting well worth a visit
D. K.
Love this place...
Food excellent and friendly service 😋
D. C.
The food at the Dairyman's Daughter is always very good and well presented, one suggestion I would like to make is that a small shelf near the hand basin and a hook to hang a coat or bag on would be very useful in the baby changing (disability toilet)!
A. F.
Food delicious. It was cold in the area we were sitting our waitress noticed and moved us and gave us some choices of where to sit. Impressed me as she was very caring and attentive. All staff very lovely. Food fantastic . Will be back.
J. F.
Stumbled across this beautiful place.
We visited on a hot day and sat in the courtyard.
The ploughman's was spot on!
(Great ratios of pickle-ham-cheese lol)
Kids meals went down with them well.
Look forward to visiting again.
B. B.
Very nice place food was lovely, services very friendly and the ambiance really pleasing.
G. M.
Have been many times and always been really pleased with it, but this was disappointing. The selection on the menu was not that great (totally understand smaller menus during restricted service) but this was not a great selection, it wasn't that great when it came and the Guinness tasted funny too. They did refund the drinks to be fair but think it will be better when the full menu is back up and running.
I. S.
Very nice people, food, atmosphere .
Dog friendly good all round 👌
S. V.
Passed this place several times while driving around the island and managed to get a last minute table inside after visiting Robin Hill around the corner. Great food, especially the Steak and Stilton pie, friendly attentive staff. Everything in place post lockdown, felt completely normal to be in this pub despite the restrictions. Highly recommend
R. C.
Very good food. Lovely place.
C. L.
We had coffee there in the morning, excellent coffee. Excellent service.
I. C.
Lovely food and drinks with a wide range of main courses and snacks. Really comfortable inside, and with good and attentive service.
D. L.
Great breakfast+ veggies breakfast,
Get yourself a beer come on down
J. T.
Helpful staff, enjoyable meal, crispy chips and tasty meal
K. M.
Would highly recommend going here. The staff are all lovely and very helpful and the food is worthy of a full 5+ stars. Will definitely come again on my next visit to the island.
D.
Food was amazing staff are lovely , great place well worth the visit , will be back ….burgers were heaven ,
C. G.
Good location, friendly staff, reason for 3 stars is that we only had drinks and no food.
A. H.
Arrived without booking around 18:30. ( should have booked online 🤫).
Staff very friendly and efficient.
Given outside table (76} on veranda, ( under cover of giant umbrella).
Food was excellent, service was very good, especially waitress who dealt with us, a delight. The whole experience was splendid. I would come to this pub over its sister pub every time.
We ate at the sister pub The steamer, earlier in the week, and didnt come close to this establishment.
Well done to the manager and the whole team.
😉👍
R. D.
Food was good.. usual pub food.
👍
V. t.
Brilliant food and service. Surounded by some great craft shops
R. C.
Quaint, querky and full of country character. Friendly and good service, although we only stopped for mid-morning coffee we had luncheoned there prior. Well recommended.
c. c.
Down to earth pub great atmosphere and lovely food
E. J.
Great service! Waiting staff were efficient, helpful and super friendly. Slightly disappointing meal, but it was sorted very quickly with apologies and without fuss.
K. B.
Had a fantastic meal there yesterday. Quick service, lovely food and an interesting location as we also had time to explore the craft Village. Would definitely recommend a visit to the Dairyman's and the Craft Village.
D. C.
Very nice pub which also serves great coffee and food, well worth stopping in for either a bite to eat or a full meal. This pub is also very dog friendly!
K. H.
Very nice meal today with the family will return but the person on the till needs to be a bit more customer focused I think.
H. B.
Wonderful experience. The food came very quickly and was incredible (we ordered baguettes, curries, cooked breakfasts and roasts)! The prices were reasonable and the portions are large. The actual place itself was decorated all around, with a clean and welcoming environment. Staff were friendly. Would absolutely recommend again.
M. U.
Lovely place around so nice little shops. We didn't eat but the food I saw looked good. I was hoping for some local brewery ales though so I kept a star back
S. B.
Lovely pre booked evening.
Staff very welcoming and helpful, good service.
Felt safe. Meal brilliant as usual. Only one moan.. We stood outside a bit too long before entering the pub.. but cold.. would not have wanted to stand out there if the heavens have opened up! maybe get some sort of lean too/ marquee put on if this is how the future is going to be? Otherwise great.. will come back!
S. J.
Visited on Tuesday after booking a table. We have been coming here for years and it's always a favourite when visiting the IOW. Our recent visit was great, very organised and felt Covid safe with all the rules and restrictions being adhered too. The staff were friendly and attentive. Food as always was incredibly lovely, hot and suberb portions sizes. Thank you for making our family meal out extra special whilst visiting the island.
J. P.
Lovely friendly staff didn't wait long to be served and food excellent recommend a visit
T. B. D.
Great Food and staff..
Helpful in finding a table to fit all people..
We where a group of 8 without a pre booking or reservation..
I enjoyed a lovely 10oz Isle of Wight rump steak...
It was cooked to my order of medium rare..
Sadly there was only half a mushroom (even though it was big..it looked like they were trying to save money).. charge 50pence more and serve a whole large one..or keep the same price and serve smaller once..
We will be back on our next visit to the Isle of Wight..👍🍻
L. W.
Had a wonderful all day breakfast in the garden. Perfect!
J. T.
Lovely place. Staff were very helpful, except the miserable man taking orders. Food was ok but the chips were not crispy, very soggy and disappointing. Previously happy to visit here and will try again but tbh will go elsewhere first, shame...
A. K.
We had just a drink the bar service was efficient
t.
It was lovely food great flavour and price.
J. G.
Good food , good beer , great atmosphere . Well worth a visit
A. M.
Always a warm welcome, a relaxing drink and fabulous food
J. C.
Food not too bad but experience was spoilt by lack of manners. No good morning, nor is everything OK not even goodbye. There was only one other table besides ours and two staff standing chatting.
D. B.
We stopped off for Sunday lunch, we didn't book and they managed to fit us in, thankfully, the food was restaurant quality, allergens were clearly marked, staff were lovely, we will definitely go back to this beautiful quirky pub
J. l.
Lovely food.. massive meals and the breakfast plate is massive as well.. really nice place and great gift shops on site. Staff really nice .. at present best to book re covid and it's all table service
S. B.
Bit chilly but lovely food
M. F.
Wow! The food is absolutely amazing! And MASSIVE! We ordered the fish and chips expecting an average size portion and my goodness it was a whale! So yummy!! Highly recommended and will return myself
B. C.
A fantastic pub and restaurant, we had the steak, mushroom and kidney pie, chips and veg and it was all cooked beautifully and served hot. The manager was very busy serving and clearing tables, it wasn't left just up to the staff. A very well run place with an excellent manager, staff and chef. Would highly recommend.
c. s.
What a great place. Unfortunately we left it to our last night on the Isle. You need some shop and craft centre browsing time, that's situated in the courtyard. It was a Friday night we went. A group was on which was great. Great selection of drinks and food menu. Friendly knowledgable staff. Food well presented in an acceptable time and I must say to a very good standard. There is plenty of nautical items to look at here. You could spend hours there. A place we will be returning to next time we're over there. We'll done to all staff.
L. W.
Great service and fantastic meal
S. L.
Lovely, food was excellent and the staff were very efficient. Very large portions.
M. H.
Good menu, lovely food, staff very friendly and helpful and the setting is beautiful.
A. T.
Our favourite place to eat on the IOW. Great food & very quick & friendly service.
S. C.
Lovely food lots of choice for all
A. M.
Probably the most welcoming, helpful and friendly staff I've ever experienced. Great knowledge and amazing service. Food was brilliant, large portions and lovely quality. Very quick from ordering to food coming out. Would highly recommend.
P. W.
Good food here in the central courtyard. Very nice burgers. Not too busy so ideal if you are passing by and fancy a pint and burger. They've made it into a bit of a visitors park. There's a large pond and glass blowing studio. They had a craft shop over two floors but unfortunately that has gone. Visit the church next door which is also lovely.
a. b.
Good food. Nice environment.
t. h.
Great home made tasty meals, great value for money. 6 of us with different meals and all were really pleased, quick, polite service too 😁
C. C.
Spent a good few hours walking around before coming in for food. Two ploughman lunches, great beer and children's menu. Food was amazing. Very friendly staff and plenty to catch your eye whilst you wait for food.
A. M.
Lovely lunch. Good size sandwiches. Lots of filling plus garnish and chips. Ale nice. Fairly priced. Covid organization excellent. Staff very helpfil snd polite.
P. G.
Great place,A must visit if on the Isle of wight.Great food.
M. C. (.
Lovely pub with good and generous sized food. A handful of craft shops and a glass art shop makes it a visit well worth having. And dont forget to buy some sweets from the old fashioned sweet shop with all its jars. Yum!!
B. W.
Really great food (huge servings) and the surrounding areas and shops make for a great day out. The walk across the downs behind the barns is beautiful. And my six year old loved watching the glass blowing. Highly recommend!
S. Z.
Been there twice - it is a safe bet, as it looks like you can always get a table (even in these unusual times), and you can get a decent meal quickly and at a reasonable price when you need one. The décor is quirky enough, the staff are friendly enough, there are a couple of real ales on cask - it ticks all the basic boxes wonderfully, I just don't think it will be winning any awards any time soon...
M. H.
Great staff, food excellent choice and tasty. Good vegan options. Good ale IPA and Youngs Special. Overall very good
S. H.
A great place to eat out on the Isle of Wight. This place has good menu for both adults and kids as well as a good selection of beers and ciders.
Make sure that you go with an empty stomach as the food portions are BIG! Lots of parking spaces also.
K. A.
Helpful and accomodating we had a really lovely meal here. Staff accommodated us without a booking in Covid19 restrictions during busy August. After 3 other pubs were fully booked.
All the staff were great but special mention to Shannon who quickly helped when my daughter knocked her drink over and kindly offered to get her another. Thank you so much.
Good menu and children's menu we all enjoyed our meals. My vegan chickpea curry was amazing, husband loved his Henhouse chicken burger kids ate all of there sausage and mash and the other had pasta. Clean plates all round. Perfect!
L. P.
We decided to eat here whilst on holiday at a nearby caravan site. I cannot praise it enough. The food was plentiful & delicious. The staff were pleasant & friendly & the service was excellent. Wiil definitely visit again the next time we are on the island.
A. D.
Pleasant and friendly, decent meal
J. V. o.
Pub foods ok leather works shop excellent
J. F.
Great food and great portions. I would definitely come back
G. G.
A great oldie worldly pub, superb food and local ales. Quick service and very friendly staff with accessible tabling and happy with Guide Dogs and other pets. Good pricing quick service but I would suggest, if not recommend always booking in advance, very busy popular places with sometimes really good live local musicians.
J. F.
Love this pub . this place is surrounded by boutique shops , a glass works , blacksmiths furniture makers and all kinds of lovely places to look at . there is also a penny arcade which is well worth a visit. Anyway back to the pub ,there is plenty of seating and plenty to look at on the walls and ceiling . The real ales are well stocked and well presented their are plenty of wines and spirits not forgetting all the soft drinks you could want. The food is amazing and plenty of it . The breakfast is to die for and is a must. All in all this is a lovely place to go and eat and drink and have a wonder around . O and try and find the church its a hidden jem.
r. w.
I have visited this place several times now with family. The portion sizes were OK but on both occasions they had ran out of what I wanted. Some of the veg was also cold. Nice atmosphere and good location. Staff were pleasant. Overall not terrible but not one of my first choices.
A. G. (.
Excellent service and food to match. Best pub on the island, the atmosphere is relaxed and of an old English ambience. Nice big portions, big menu and all freshly made. Specials board seems regularly updated and a big selection of ales that have never disappointed me. The live music they have is always of a high standard. There is some shops in the grounds outside of the pub that sell loads of different arts and crafts bits, a ceramics shop and a glass works that you can watch the guys blow glass. The sweet shops sells all the old fashioned (the best) stuff and there's a really good butchers that sells local produce. Above the shop is a place selling hand built furniture all high quality and built from reclaimed materials.
N. S.
I visited here with my family after looking around Arreton Barns. The food is very good and the children's portions are very large! Decent ales on tap and everything clean and organised. Food service was quick despite being busy at lunchtime. Overall I would definitely recommend.
M. P.
Very nice place. Pleasant staff and good food. We went there 3 times In a week. Better than other pubs for sure!
Old arcade is pretty cool. Shuts a bit early though!
C. G.
Food good😀, bar staff very good😉. Staff serving food very surly😠
C. J.
Nice place for food and drink in between
Shopping
R. O.
Lovely location. Good food. Expensive beer (Good choice & well kept though). Wishing it would have more live music. If you like out of town rustic, you will love this place.
P. H.
Food and service here are always fantastic, never had a bad meal, just had the IOW sausage baguette, big portions and good quality produce, burgers also recommended,
L. M.
Lovely place. Set in a maze of other quirky set of shops. Great food and friendly staff. Quick service and lovely and clean. An assortment of farm attachments, old brass fittings pots and 'accordions' adorn the walls and shelves. Interesting, and a good place to visit if you get the chance. Five stars for me - ☆☆☆☆☆
A. H.
Lovely food, good service and lots of parking spaces
Z. B.
Superb food, only criticism is portion sizes are massive. The amount of food we left was embarrassing but it was absolutely delicious.
D. M.
Great food as always, thumbs up from me 👍🏻
J. T.
Excellent lunch options for four people to share.
M. B.
Fantastic food, brilliant staff, just love this place, if only we could find one like this back home in Swindon 😫
J. S.
They do occasionally have live music here, so depending on your preference you might want to request a table either close to or away from the band. The food is of a good standard, and there’s a wide range of drinks available at the bar. It’s decorated in a cosy rustic country style, and is always warm and welcoming on a cold day.
N. E.
Warm friendly welcome. Polite, efficient, hard working staff. Great menu. Lovely food. Good portions. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
s. f.
Really nice pub withgreat pub grub sadly visited and no staff due to covid so could eat this time but still deserves 5 *
R. L.
Nice country pub a little bit of a let down on the food, specially when you're paying £19 for rump steak.
Asked for medium rare came medium well, you think wetherspoons quality frozen chips and onion rings how hard is it to do home made more flavour better quality.
Food is ok nothing special.
R. M.
Good food, good service, good price.
A. H.
Food was very decent. Love the pub and atmosphere of the locale itself. Staff were lovely but seemed to forget about us towards the end.
R. D.
Delicious food, very clean and spacious, great service. We will definitely return next time we're on the island.
P. H.
An interesting pub set in a visitors area. Good food and vast selection of drinks. Child friendly . Lots to do outside such as Shipwreck centre, Pirates Area, glass blowing shop etc. Well worth stopping off on your way to the beach!
P. G.
Great place to visit would definitely recommend great staff and service
C. I.
Good ambience, and a delicious curry. But, we took a tab - wrong! It was a busy day and we were expected to stand in a queue of at least six groups ordering food to settle the bill. After remonstrating we were allowed to pay at another till, but it left a sour note at what had, up then, had been a pleasant experience. So my advice is to pay up front, especially if they're busy.
H. L.
This is our favourite place to eat on the island. Great quality food. Good prices. Plenty of choice.
M. R.
Very nice relaxing and very good 👍👍😁
B. H.
Friendly helpfull staff and a lovely pub inside. The tomato and pasta soup of the day was very well presented with two large chunks of bread but it was far far too sweet. Likely made with pasta sauce which contains a lot of sugar then condensed a bit and you have sugar overload. That's from someone with a very sweet tooth.
S. C.
Really impressed with the food here, with a great vibe and friendly staff.
G. S.
A great pub which serves not only a good selection of ales and lagers but has a superb food menu at very reasonable prices. If you're a vegetarian then you have no worries here. A very atmospheric pub and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
S. W.
Lovely place spacious3 dog freindly food was nice and hot good choice of food to
w. c.
Great food, with large portions. Friendly, helpful staff. nice chilled atmosphere
A. T.
Good food, drinks and service. Nice in the garden in the sun!
W.
This place is unique. Great rustic food with ideal portion size. Amazing selection of drinks with local Ales. The decor is very olde timey, and the outside area is scattered with small shops and old farm equipment. Again, it's unique and worth going out your way to dine here.
M. F.
Decent food, decent prices. Lovely when the sun is shining!
J. K.
Good food, large portions! We didn’t book and still managed to get a table at 12:30 for lunch.
P. g.
We went to the Dairymans daughter and had a wonderful meal large portions. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the only gripe was the cost of the soft drinks. Will visit again when visiting the Isle of wight.
L. C.
Far too large portions. Very good quality food. Get your own taxi. Just used Google for taxi. Arrived in no time! Excellent driver. Think it was Alpha.
J. B.
Lovely food, spacious seating areas. Can get busy so would advise booking.
S. C.
Good pab food and great service
J. L.
Very good food & excellent service
Servers went above & beyond to ensure we got a 2 course sunday lunch before they closed.
Good pricing too
J. G.
Huge breakfast. Very nice. Unfortunately dont do a smaller one. Meals always large. Some also come in a deli size. Has interesting collections of stuffed animals and other collectables displayed. Sometimes has live music.
m. s.
Good food great selection of beers and cider , friendly staff, I live on the island and use this place at least 6 times a year, if I lived closer I would use more often. Wish they had a pub in freshwater I would be their best customer
T. K.
We had been to Arrenton barns abd decided to go later in the evening for dinner. We ordered the garlic chicken breast, pie of rhe day which was steak and kidney and 2 lots of the cottage pie. All were lovely, the portions where large so if you have a small appitite go for the deli size. The staff are friendly and fast and catered for our alterations to the dishes we ordered. It has music most evening so would def suggest going.
s. c.
Good food, good atmosphere just a nice place to eat. Well done
C. M. M.
Had a lovely meal there knowing exactly what I could and couldn't have thanks to their allergen chart on the back of their menu. Definitely recommend! Lovely staff and friendly environment.
L. H.
As good as always. Staff very helpful.
I. J.
Great pub and food was excellent
C. F.
We came here on the last day of our holiday for a late lunch. The food was tasty and well presented and the service was quick, friendly and efficient. Very cozy, Christmassy atmosphere.
C. D.
Very busy at lunchtime but the food was plentiful with quick and polite service, good atmosphere, great beer choice and lots of places to sit. A little out of the way but well worth the trip. Highly recommended.
M. G.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely go there again. Recommended!
T. M.
Great breakfast but a bit put off by a couple of the staff who were very abrupt with other customers. Possibly fed up with constantly having to explain the Covid regulations!
m. l.
Good pub, loads character, good beers and food, Tuesday folk group and open mike night is great, only criticism is maybe a gluten free beer on tap or bottles speckled hen and IPA all door gluten free bottled beers !!
Also unbuttered vegetables option is a good idea to as I am gluten and lactose free and it ment there was lots of meals I could of had if the vegetables wet'nt buttered that were gluten free !!!!
a. h.
Fab food, and lovely atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble for them. Had a grate time and will be coming back very soon
s. s.
This place has the right ambience and space including outside sitting area, love the vine tree and the flowers, staff is very helpful and always smiling. What sometimes disappoints is the food, I have been there a few times but always left without fully satisfied with the quality of food, must admit the quantity they provide is certainly not small.
G. M.
Nice to wake around kids found bits to buy
L. C.
Sunday roast. Bloomin' delicious. New chef? New menu? Not sure...but really nice. Slightly more expensive than some otjer places but I think money well spent! We will be back. 😊
m. h.
Went for lunch on the eat out offer and what a wonderful treat food was delightful I had the pie of the day chicken and vegetable with mash and fresh veg all cooked beautifully partner had cod and chips even that was well cooked every thing came out hot staff were all very pleasant would definitely recommend I would of even paid full price but we are trying place's we haven't eaten before definitely going back
R. H.
Good simple pub food, family friendly atmosphere with a lot of character, great setting surrounded by the Arreton Barns. A Blend of locals and tourists alike. No sports TV which is a positive or negative depending who you are.
J. B.
Beautiful place , very nice food ,excellent service friendly staff would highly recommend

M. W.
Excellent broad choice of good quality food. Delicious specials board. Live music Friday and Saturday evening. Brilliant setting. Friendly service.
R. H.
food fantastic and fast service great however queued for 20 mins just to get a drink then another 15 to place food order. tip order food and drink at same time needs more bar staff and tills, but would definitely return and recommend
C. H.
Food was very nice. Staff were polite although most seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves than to a paying customer hence they got order wrong. One member of staff was very friendly and very helpful.
M. W.
One of the best meals I've ever had.
Really polite and helpful staff.
Highly recommended.
M. T.
A lovely venue and really good meals

J. A.
Really good sandwich served with good garnish and excellent chips.
R. B.
Superb food, helpful staff and large portions. Forget the standard Marstons, Greene King pubs, try this small Island Chain and experience good local food.
Well worth the money.
J. O.
Very good service, lovely hot food served by a lovely lady. Highly recommend
A. E.
Visited today having booked. Glad we did as it was busy. That being said, the food arrived promptly. The food was reasonable pub fair.

Very atmospheric, pleasant staff, especially very well spoken young gentleman who served us on both occasions we visited ~ he was a joy to meet! Food more than plentiful and very well presented and fresh. Highly recommended.

Food not as good as it has been over the years, the Fish pie was what dreams were made of, delicately balanced fill of tasty fish with a superb fishy cheese sauce topped with a tasty mash and cheese topping, apparently seems to have been replaced with catering standard white fish frozen tray slabs of indefinable species, as found underneath the mash topping on the last occasion that I had it.
But saying this the meals on our last visit, especially the Liver and Bacon was BLODDY MARVELLOUS.

Nice friendly staff and made us feel welcome, we asked to change part of a meal and nothing was too much trouble, the food was nice and reasonably priced,we will definitely call again.
