Reviews of The Fighting Cocks

Great food, amazing selection and a really good and varied vegetarian menu.
The child/toddler menu is very inclusive and the food dishes up for the kids is similar to the adults so they look and feel a part of the same dinner.
The pub is clean, tidy and well decorated. The staff are really nice and helpful.
Can't find a single negative to post.

Had not been for a few years and decided to take my son and mum out for his 19th Birthday.
So glad we did , it was busy and had to sit outside, but weather was good .
Service and welcome was lovely, fab menu .
Did not have to wait to long for our food and we were not disappointed.
Really lovely food and excellent service.
All priced well .
Perfect afternoon, fab food great location.

This is a well organised and efficient family eat in pub, just off the main road from Arreton to Apse Heath. The tables have service buttons so no bar queues. Lots of parking including disability spaces. Wide flat entrance and accessible toilets.
Extremely busy so booking advised. Menu caters for vegans and vegetarians. I was told the vegan bolognaise was delicious.
Food well presented and brought hot to table. I would have given 5 stars but salad a bit dry and desserts were provided with knife and forks. I did ask for spoons but they never appeared. Friends were eating custard and ice cream with forks.
Recommend you take spoons with you.

Staff are so friendly & helpful! They really listen to everything you ask for & I feel they go above & beyond for the customers :) The food was nice, a great choice & variety on the menu! The pub was so beautifully decorated for Christmas too which added such a cosy feel! We look forward to returning :)

June 2022 4* Thought we’d give the pub another go. Staff more attentive, came when we pushed the button. Food was still delicious. Our server was Amber who gave us a better experience 4*
May 2022 3* Excellent ploughman’s & hunters chicken, great location and facilities. Although they say it’s table service, to push the buttons on the table and they’ll come over. But every time we pushed the button nobody would come and you could see the staff just chatting at the bar so after waiting for ages (had pushed the button 3 times already) we had to get up and ask for the bill. Then not only that we were chased out the pub by one of the staff members as we were getting into our car asking if we’ve paid. Absolutely ridiculous.

There aren't enough positive adjectives to describe how good the food is here! Definitely a few notches above your average pub grub, the menu contains a nice variety of dishes, with many boasting locally sourced ingredients, with something to appeal to everyone. The fact that the staff are always friendly, welcoming and happy to help is the icing on the cake! Highly recommended!

This is a lovely pub with a nice little outside play area for the kids. The food was delicious and the choice of ordering in app or using a call to table button was fab, but what really made the experience was the staff who were super friendly, helpful and wonderful with the kids.

Fantastic. I had fisherman's pie and partner had medallion of pork... both were amazing. Easily best fisherman's pie I have ever had. Other half really enjoyed his too. We decided to have dessert... mine was chocolate and strawberry fresh made cheesecake... it was to die for... other half had a baileys Sunday and he raved about it for some time! Defo going back. There is a fantastic children's play area with bouncy castles, go carts and swings and slides etc. Can not recommend enough! We have since been back another 3 tines... the food and staff were excellent on each occasion!!! Can recommend highly enough.... top tip... defo book in advance!!!!

Lovely place for families especially with younger children as a big play area with lots of inflatables.
Adults there is a big car park with overflow. The menu is extensive with something for everyone. The food is very good and they have Thatchers Gold on draught 😎

We took family to this pub/restaurant who were visiting the island.
We were not disappointed. It's always busy and always gives fantastic service..food and drinks. Portion sizes are very generous and a fantastic menu with desserts to die for. Call bell on table to order drinks and food.
Lovely space outside with gardens ..seating and bouncy castles for the children. And also very dog friendly. Larges car park with ample parking.
We are lucky we live here as we can visit anytime... totally recommend.
