J. P.Ordered food to takeaway yesterday. Service was brilliant food was delicious empty plates for the kids which is always impressive! Lovely place stopped for a drink before we collected food. Sweet little shop selling supplies. Grabbed eggs and bread as we are camping nearby. 100% recommend this place. We will be back next year!!!!!!
P. G.We went for Sunday dinner, having found it really hard to book anywhere else. The place looked a little run down when we went in but we were really happy with our choice. There were loads of options on the menu, including plenty of vegetarian meals. The food appeared to be have been properly home cooked, which is a rare find these days. There were lots of activities to keep kids and dogs amused.
E. E.Very pleasantly surprised! Quick, attentive service and great freshly-cooked food. We really appreciated the wealth of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options too. The dog felt at home and we enjoyed chatting to the regulars, who clearly love this pub.

r. s.This is a very traditional pub, with a lovely enclosed eating area outside (great when you have young children). We have been to this pub several times, lovely food (especially the roast dinners), staff are very friendly, nothing is to much for them. Can't rate them highly enough.

M. H.Ate here with my partner & her mum....ale was superb ....Theakstons mild being a rare treat & in perfect condition. My rump steak was perfect, the chicken & mushroom pie was excellent, as was the spinach & lentil burger( chips,onion rings & veg)....but the piece de resistance was the strawberry cheesecake served with cream. The owners & staff were great....& the model gauge railway running during dinner around the walls was a delight....whole experience was quaint, bordering on surreal....we loved it & thoroughly recommend it to all who might visit.

J. M.On holiday, not wanting to cook and finding all local pubs booked up we ordered a takeaway and were really happy with the food. Freshly-cooked, ready exactly on time and piping hot. There was too much for us to eat in one meal, so we saved the leftovers and had them the next day. Very good value and friendly service. Highly recommended.

L. K. H.Visiting midweek was a little surprised to see a roast being offered so couldn't turn it down. First and foremost, staff was wonderful, service was excellent and the pub is wonderfully decorated in a cosy manner. Went with the roast beef. Beef was ok, potatoes were over done. Veg were nicely done. But the best thing was definitely the gravy, lovely, tasty and elevated everything it touched. All in all all a very nice pub.
T. H.Food was nice but it needs a good clean and the carpet definately needs replacing. It was so dirty and worn it put me off my food. Where I was sat I couldn't take my eyes off if the bit on the stairs, which is awful. It would be a much more pleasant place with new flooring. On a positive note, the young staff were very nice and helpful.

a. a.A really warm and welcoming pub! Staff are super friendly and helpful and the food is fantastic. As a coeliac, I really appreciated the gf options. I had the best gf fish and chips I've ever had and a Sunday roast with gf Yorkshire pudding. Absolutely delish! The staff really make this place, just lovely ☺️
S. M.We had an excellent takeout last night, Steak and Ale pie, superb. After a long day in the garden struggling to remove moss from the lawn, it was great to be able to go online and order a nice meal. The added benefit was being able to pick up a very reasonably priced bottle of wine to accompany it. A nice little touch was the extra gravy we got, perfect. Our compliments to the chef and the very pleasant young man who served me.

The food was brilliant, freshly prepared and hot, the fact that you can make a lot of the dishes smaller is an excellent idea. We had 2 courses and drinks for £44! Amazing value for money, friendly, welcoming atmosphere and great food, what more could you want?

Very friendly staff especially the landlord who made us feel very welcome.
Dogs are allowed and the pub even sell food for the dogs to eat as well if wanted.
Food was very good and an extensive choice of gluten free choices on offer.
Price very good as well.

Most of us went for the roast dinners which was either beef, pork or nutroast at just under £12 and included a dessert. All home cooked, fresh veg and very generous portion sizes too.
The staff were great and only a
short wait for food.

I'm vegan and was really impressed with the amount of vegan and vegetarian options, and the waitress/chefs even made a special vegan version of my garlic mushrooms starter. She was very helpful with making sure I knew what I could eat and the whole place was so welcoming and accommodating, especially as we stayed quite late and had quite a few drinks! Great food and great staff, definitely recommend! 😊

You are made to feel welcome with a warm greeting the moment you walk in the door.
The pub is large and tables set out with plenty of room so you don't feel as if your on the next table.
Food is served quickly and in good portions and they have a special kids menu with small servings.
This is a great family pub and Dogs are welcome to.
Sad to be going back to LONDON but this is now my first stop as soon as we make it back.
Give it a go well worth your time.
Just read some negative reviews and honestly can't understand why.
One said they found it dirty, not true, you will find a very clean pub.
I genuinely feel The Sun inn is as honest as a Pub can be.

A waitress service is available to take your order and to bring you your food when cooked.
Just be aware that the servings are large, so if you have a small appetite make sure to order the half portions. Great pit stop before boarding the ferry to the mainland.

Really excellent locally produced, home cooked food, very good range of real ales and cider, decent wine list. Plenty of parking, but a pleasant mile's walk from town through the water meadows. m. t.I just wanted to thank the extremely friendly staff who were all helpful and attentive. We enjoyed our meal and the waitress’s made friends with our children which made us feel very relaxed after a busy day.
F. M.I stopped here on a cycle ride around the island, in fact I made a slight detour from my planned route and it was most definitely worth it.
The vegan nut roast was excellent with a nice range of veg and a jug of gravy. There are also other vegan options too. The staff were friendly and attentive (very helpful with directions) and the atmosphere was pleasant - happy but not rowdy. There's also a garden.
This really is a great find on the Island, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit.

S. L.As a chef of 20 years I can say that you will be hard pressed to find better food and value for money. Thet food is always very tasty and fresh and you get decent sized portions. I will be eating there regularly when I return to the island for a holiday this Sunday.

P. M.The Sun Inn in Calbourne is great for gluten free, diary free, vegan and vegetarian pub food. I am not a drinker so can't comment on the alcohol. The service is always kindly and I have never been disappointed, hence I keep returning. Today 2 adults, a teenager and a ten year old ate main courses as well as dessert and soft drinks for a little over £50. Combinations of gluten free, vegetarian etc were dealt with no fuss at all. What's not to like? I'll be coming back of course!
J. B.Ordered the gluten free ribs, gluten free cottage pie and normal steak as well as drinks, we had to wait a while just for drinks, when food came it wasnt hot, the edges were cold and the middles were Lukewarm but tasted good.
