M. S.I went to have lunch. You should book in advance if you decide to go on the weekend.
I tried the roast dinner with beef and some pate for starter. I definitely recommend the meringue cream with natural fruits for dessert.
It's a quiet and family place.
Good value for quality and quantity of food.

B. H.I visited the Bold Dragon for the first time today to grab some lunch. I had the cod and chips from the light bites menu, with a southern comfort and coke on the side. We came in at 2pm on a Saturday, and the indoor seating was at about half capacity when we sat down.
Service was fast and friendly. The staff were polite with plenty of smiles, and seemed like they genuinely wanted to be there. Facilities were also very clean and very well maintained.
When the food came, I was very pleasantly surprised. This portion was very generous, especially considering it came from the light bites menu. The chips were nice and crispy on the exterior, and soft and fluffy on the interior. Not too greasy, just right. The behemoth of a cod I had was nice and chunky, with a batter that was the perfect combination of crispy and flakey. The only thing I will say is that I feel like the cod could have maybe been prepared and cooked using a little more seasoning, but it's nothing a little bit of salt at the table couldn't help.
Overall I'd say if you're looking for a pleasant pub experience at a reasonable price, there's something for everyone at the Bold Dragoon. Although I didn't try it, it does also have quite and extensive vegetarian and vegan menu, so there's plenty of consideration for dietary requirements.
In short, a very pleasant experience. I would definitely come back.

j. k.Chips were lovely, beer battered thick cut. Dining room was too hot though. Fellow diners had red faces from the sun shining through and no it wasn't from drinking. Had water and soft drinks.
R. R.Had an excellent lunch at 1:30 on a Saturday. Varied menu and very tasty food. On the downside no gluten-free rolls or bread available so my starter was without a ciabatta bread. Light bites menu is superb and very good amounts for a menu titled in this way. Chicken tikka masala and chilli both light bites but generous portions: service was a bit slow but it was a busy time and I know that they were a little shortstaffed. On the whole very impressed

R. D.Under new management for nearly 1 month. 1st visit couple of weeks ago meal was just ok, what was served didn't correlate to the menu, but a recent visit the meal was very much better. Reasonable selection of cask beers.
H.Visited for Sunday lunch, choose the turkey which was delicious, super juicy and succulent. Homemade yorkies and stuffing were amazing. Had the biscoff cheese cake to finish, what a treat!! Will be coming again, thank you.

She attention us that we need to go all around the pub all the time to get to the bar or toilet even if we had babies with us though 😏🤔💩

The dishes were not wow either and for a £12.95 dish in a pub you expect at least a decent taste food 😪
J. S.Had a meal at the Bold Dragoon this evening. We had the Steak and wine deal which came to just £25 for the two of us. We thought it was excellent value. The service was good and very welcoming. We like the surroundings. The restaurant part of the pub appears to be a conservatory type extension to the original building but it serves the purpose well and gives a sort of comfy feel to the diner. A very enjoyable evening. We hope to return
soon.

K.A group of eleven of us from the U3A British history group had lunch at the Bold Dragoon today Thursday 17th January 2019, the service was first class, the waitress was extremely polite and very efficient. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal which was the baked potato with steak and Stilton, it really was top quality, and was superbly cooked. The choice of ales is very good and the Tribune bitter is well kept and so tasty. Our entire group were all delighted with their meals. So we give the Bold Dragoon a genuine and well deserved 10 out of 10.
