Reviews of Britannia
M. S.
A fantastic treasure just outside northampton, looks lovely as a venue and a great dining experience.
Staff are really friendly and professional, it's a wide menu and what we had tasted great.
They have a good drinks section and should have something for everyone.
Can recommend and can't wait to return.

Dashed in here for a quick bite to eat, whilst my Son played Rugby. I had the mixed grill my wife had the Haloumi. Quick service, good food pleasant environment. Lovely fire adds to the perfect ambiance. Well done

I had a feeling when I pulled into the massive car park with loads of space, that this was going to be a great experience.
I wasn't disappointed, the second you walk in, you feel that you are in a warm welcoming, friendly place.
You're notified straight away that's its a dog friendly bar, love that. People often don't like to ask, no need here.
The nice decor, open fire, and simple layout makes you feel welcomed, and the very friendly staff, especially Sam, makes you feel like you're having dinner with family.
And as if that wasn't enough, the food was simply superb.
I had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection, and the portion sizes were perfect!

First time visit for us & we will definitely be returning. You can tell by the moment you walk in that this eatery is good by the amount of people there, although that being said there is more than enough space with the tables well laid out. We were shown to our table by the waiting staff and offered the menus, we chose our drinks & meals which were soon with us. We both had the turkey Sunday lunch which was perfectly cooked & piping hot. We then both had a dessert which again was excellent. Both our drinks, meals & desserts came to less than £45 which I consider to be of very good value. We will certainly be returning again & we would very highly recommend the Britannia for a top quality good value meal that is served by excellent staff in lovely surroundings.

Great dog friendly pub but they've just stopped serving doggy ice cream!
The kids chicken burger was very chewy and made up of e to 4 paper-thin slices of chicken deep fried, no sauce, just bun.
Desserts were amazing, I had the mocha torte and sticky toffee pudding.
Owner was lovely and came for a chat. Chef and Brewer need to look at bringing back the doggy ice cream and making the kids menu better
K. B.
The food was lovely, especially the fudge brownie. Staff were friendly enough but 1 buggered up 2 food orders while I was there and she also came over to offer a sweet menu, went away and didn't come back so another server took over thankfully. Would've given 4 stars if the ladies toilets didn't smell of mould and sewage. Overall good but won't be back.
B.
Very good food, service was great, and the owner is very good looking, better than Bob.

Lots of parking, which is refreshing. We enjoyed a lovely meal. Pork belly was succulent & very tasty! Will definitely be back! Thanks for a lovely evening!
L. G.
Had a lovely lunch with friends a few weeks ago first time we have been out in over 2 years where as we would always go out lunch time every 2 months. We all worked to get her for years at a national charity then new bosses came in so we left but keep on touch
S. G.
Nice pub, friendly staff.. could do with getting a grill/toaster for their anemic toasted sandwiches though.
The other food that arrived for our party looked good and went down well, but the New York Deli toasted sandwich was under toasted to say the least
M. P.
After viewing the menu online we went specifically for the slow cooked pork and crackling only to be told that the "pork was off, we haven't any left". Had to settle for the beef roast...... I have to say that I wasn't upset for long. It was excellent. Alas, the praise didn't last long. There was quite a few other items "unavailable" from the menu which was disappointing. Ps. Don't have the cod....... it's 75% batter 😞
D. H. M.
What a glorious pub on the canal side. You have no idea that you're in town unless you go into the carpark. Delicious food with large portions and prompt friendly service. Highly recommended.
S. W.
The food was very good. The setting is very pretty being on the waterfront. Would definitely go there again.
M. P.
The atmosphere was absolutely awesome. Unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. Could not even order food even thought the pub was hardly half full.

Have used the Britannia for many years and have always had the best service and food from here.
but yesterday after a couple years not going out we as a team decided to come in after work to celebrate a colleague’s birthday. We managed to clear away two tables as most filled with plates and glasses!! We were going to eat as well to be told you have to pre book 24hrs before sorry but no where in the building tells you this when you arrive so we’re left very disappointed and you are missing out on passing work trade and from the boats that pulled up and left knowing no food.
But now my main moan the lack of staff at a very busy period 1 person behind bar one lady that was serving tables had no time to clear tables and because of this no “suitable “ glasses to serve drinks in !,!,, my heart went out to Sam he was doing an amazing job but was tacking a lot of disgruntled customers comments and it wasn’t his fault where were the management / other staff!! Oh yeah more turned up later when it went quieter 😠 Well done Sam you are this pubs biggest asset if I could have put my boots back on (after hanging them up 5 years ago ) I would have come and helped you.
Please management sort your staffing out your missing out on profit get back to what this place was always a lovely place to walk into after work have few drinks and something to eat on a lovely sunny afternoon next to the river and not your customers clearing and cleaning their own tables before sitting down 🙁😊
S. W.
Went to the Britannia for a colleague's leaving drinks, we had initially setup our group near the bar, but we were clearly in the way so were ushered toward the seating area to the left of the entrance, comfortable enough but it reeked of smelly feet, like the carpets had been washed but not allowed to dry properly. Super distracting. Will visit again, but will sit outside I think. Roll on summer.
D. M.
First 2 dishes ordered were unavailable. Food good, service dire but not the servers fault. Poorly trained and simply not enough if them
B. W.
Food was ok but not outstanding at a reasonable price. Service at tables does let it down.
We weee met at the entrance desk and shown to a table and the young lady said she would give us time to settle and she would come back to take our order. After 10 minutes she returned and took our drinks order which she brought straight back. She then left to greet more customers saying she would come back for our food order. After a further 25 minutes my wife went to the bar where the lady who met us was in deep conversation with another young lady. My wife asked if anyone was actually going to take our food order. It was still another five minutes before she came to take our order.
This poor customer service led to us leaving without the second course which we would have liked but for our fear of that taking another unacceptably long time.

Despite being short staffed we were well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Food was hot and delicious and waiting staff were cheerful and attentive.
D. M.
Was recommended the restaurant 🍴 when we were buying a car near by from the Volkswagen dealership. The restaurant has ample parking and is just set off the main road.
The restaurant has recently launched a new food menu and we were really impressed with the large selection of food, though the set menu could be improved. We only ordered a single main each, but that was more than enough. The size of the mains was so filling leaving no room for desert and glad we didn't order starters.
The service was excellent along with the range of drinks. We went back the same weekend for mothers day totalling 9 others! Originally we had booked for 7 and had another 2 adults join us along with a 3 year old on the day and the staff made room for us even though they were busy.
On the second visit which was mothering Sunday the staff did make us aware that they may need to include a time limit should they get busy, but we weren't rushed and we're allowed to enjoy our meal at our own pace.
Again, we just went for mains and we're all stuffed only a couple of people had room for desert. Would definitely recommend the restaurant.
Д. Х.
Lovely location.
Great wine and beer selection with knockout terrace bang on the canal.
It's a bit pricey, but we'll worth it.
Really lovely place with a fantastic menu.
Visit this one with total confidence.
k. r.
Had a warm welcome and decided to sit outside by the river . Food arrived promptly and was very tasty . Definitely will go again
P. M.
Covid secure, great food and service. Booking only but all the better for that. 1st meal out since December last year. Well worth the wait.
A. K.
Favourite pub for an after-work pint. Lovely in the nice weather, and good staff. Plus one of the only places that serves Aspels cider!
D. W.
This place can be very hit or miss. Depending on who the manager is. If a good manager is on duty then the service is fantastic but on the other hand a rubbish manager then the service is not so good. Drinks and food are always nice. Not too expensive either. Overall an average restaurant.
D. D.
The pub has a great location, huge parking lot and a nice back garden next to a canal. A bite pricey, but it's worth for the quality of service, location and quality of guests. Britannia is a British pub at its best.
P. J.
Decent night out at this Chef and Brewer pub. Ten of us enjoyed a great evening of food and drink. I had fish and chips which went down well although I could count the chips easily on the plate. The menu was extensive and the service very good. Worth a look for a good night out.
K. M.
We love coming here. The food is always excellent and for those of us with smaller appetites the lunchtime menu is ideal. Always feel comfortable bringing our baby here too.
L. C.
The food was lovely, staff friendly, but we were a party of 12 and 7 of us had virtually finished our main meal before the remaining 5 had even received theirs, so that did let it down
K. P.
Really like this place. Bit pricey and the portions are not that big but they do serve quality food. One advice, don't be so greedy with the chips🙂
C. C.
The guy that looked after us was lovely, the food was OK just lacked abit of flavour( sea bass with pea risotto) but customer service was excellent and would definitely return
A. B.
Fantastic experience, been during the bustle of christmas and afterwards. The staff are always so welcoming with friendly waitresses like Elisa and personable and engaging bar staff such as Pip. I love the sunday dinners here, the service is always fantastic, the food always hits the spot. If I needed something I know they'd help me out immediately. Will definitely be making this my regular for food and drinks!
J. H.
Can't really fault this pub. Happy with the range of drinks. Not overly expensive. Nice interior and nice outside area in the summer.
D.
Had a lovely lunch today 16th Dec 21 Service very slow had to get up twice to find waitress to get service. Only handful of people their so service should of been much better. Pub very cold.
V. K.
Went at a quiet time and had an enjoyable evening. Food was great and lots to choose from.
G. W.
Lovely setting and great food, would recommend
R. C.
Super lacation, forgotten just how much I liked visiting this pub. Was my first time back in over 25 years
B. S.
Service was friendly and efficient. I had the slow cooked beef rib which was amazing. Pudding let the place down the sticky toffee pudding came out cold but overall a good little pub restaurant
A. W.
Had a lovely couple of hours here with my friend, had some snacks and drinks, cider was beautifully cold, try the summer menu starter king prawns! Best sweet potato fries, nice outdoors seating available right next to the canal, regular stream of boats passing, pleasent staff, love visiting here, thanks Britannia
M. G.
Lovely meal. Great value for money
H. H.
Meal was excellent. My son and his wife's favourite place to go.
Young staff serving but obviously trained well by their supervisors. Friendly and helpful.
Well worth a visit. Seating outside by the river which is a joy on a sunny day.
W. S.
We had a pre booked table for 12 on Saturday night. Amy greeted us and after a few adjustments to the table we settled down. Drinks order was taken and delivered the food came in good time. Katrina and Amy were really good nothing was to much trouble. Service and food 10 out of 10. Management should be pleased that they have Amy full of enthusiasm. Thank you to all concerned
M. E.
We stopped at the Britannia for a late lunch last weekend. We had a few of the small plates and sat by the canal with some beers, mussels, Korean chicken wings, salt and pepper squid and truffle chips. The food was very good quality and a decent price and the menu was varied and novel. The pub was a nice setting and the locals were a lot of fun. The only thing that marred the experience for us was the staff who were rude, unprofessional and came across as slightly incompetent. Admittedly this may be a function of the fact that there weren't enough of them on shift to manage the floor and they didn't seem to want to be there (I don't like working on the weekend either!).
N. V.
Food was ok, the staff at lunchtime made a point of saying the food would be a long wait, that’s fair enough, but it was as if they didn’t want us to eat there.
J. W.
Ample parking and a good location next to the river with outdoor seating also available. I side is very nice with lots of cosy areas to enjoy. Staff pleasant and attentive. Menu has good range of foods available and the wait was ok but it was quiet when we were there. Food was ok for a chain but if you want gastro pub this might not be for you. Coffee was also served very strong! It was a pleasant experience overall but only if passing would we go in again.
L. D.
Had lunch. Great light bite menu. Starter £3.00, amazing. Good choice on light bite menu. The three time cooked French fries were disappointing. We ordered pate, lovely pate, but only came with a small slice of sour dough bread. We asked for more bread, as had so much pate left. We were not told we would be charged 99p for 2 slices of toast, was on bill as spur dough it appeared to be ordinary toasted bread. Makes you think the small slice is deliberately small, so you ask for more at a price. This should have been pointed out to us. Overall a pleasant experience, with polite staff
T. J.
Food was average even with pre-ordering well in advance.
Service was good although staff didn't know that a bottle of wine should be opened before placing on a table for guests.
S. P.
Stunning location by the river watching people go by on Kayaks was a real treat. Food quality was excellent and very quick. Service level was impeccable. Great choice of food and I opted for Salmon with a ceaser salad - it was stunning!
M. G.
No staff and long waits for food even though place empty
T. B. L.
Nice pub especially when it's a nice day get a seat by the river
K. B.
Always love going here. Great food, staff, cosy but lively
G.
Great location, great staff and excellent drinks.
C. W.
Great views, along a canal and great looking pub. Drinks are good quality.
The food as it's a chain isn't up to a great grade, not the chef's fault, it's typical pub chain good. It tastes ok, but it's not the best or remembered.
I would go again, but just be aware it's chain food not great food.
M. H.
Only popped in for a drink. Made very welcome by staff and we were seated outside by the river. Indoors is huge and spacious with large gaps between the diners. Didn't eat there but food looked good.
M. G.
Lovely pub shame service is slow and food not all up to standard
A. R.
Pleasant atmosphere to have a quiet lunch, food cooked fresh to order.
S. G.
Lovely atmosphere outside close to the river, it was lovely weather. Food was very delicious, the drinks too. I had slowly cooked rib of beef which was truly delicious and very tasty. Really recommend it.
Y. W.
Food was lovely no complaints the young lad and girl servers were very helpful . Where we sat it was outside and had a table in the sun it was very hot so we noticed people at a shaded table was leaving so we moved over and sat there.A lady came up to us and was very rude and blunt telling us (The table hadn’t been cleaned so we shouldn’t have moved . With attitude . We wasn’t sitting on the table we were sitting on chairs and we could see the table needed cleaning .if spoken to nicely we would have moved and waited. It was her attitude . Apart from that lovely .
S.
The pub is generally charming, food is ok, location is nice. My friend’s first ale tasted vinegar, it was awful. We sent it back but they added to the bill anyway.
More food on the menu than usual in pubs, good variety too. The staff is very kind and friendly except one lady at the bar. No excuse for that. Sorry if it’s harsh but I believe she has zero kindness and should not work in hospitality. Or she should learn how to be nice, but I have a feeling that she is some kind of owner so she might think othervise. Somehow when you leave ~£180 all together you expect something more.
Also we spotted a mouse running next to our table, the folks next table found a snail on the floor. But that is ok I think, these old buildings can have these kind of problems.
Coffe is not the best either. The reason not giving only one star is the staff who was actually nice!
I don’t think we go there ever again.
G. C.
Always a pleasure eating here. Been visiting the Britannia for 6 yrs now and have NEVER been disappointed
P. B.
Good atmosphere but wouldn't serve us any food as we hadn't pre-booked and despite sitting at a free table for three hours. Disappointing.
L. G.
Came for Sunday lunch with the family which was great! Amazing service from Ollie and the food was incredible. Sizeable portions which filled even my teenage son. The Yorkshire puddings are massive and delicious! Definitely the place to go for Sunday lunch!
R. R.
Today we had a family meal 20 of us celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary Staff were very courteous and helpful Food and service would definitely recommend Thank you All for making our day special
C. J.
Nice place for a quick drink with the family. Friendly staff.
P. B.
Food was good, service was good. Location was very nice next to the canal. My daughter had a chicken, leak and mushroom pie and it was a proper pie fully incased in pastry not in a bowl with some pastry on top.
B. C.
Had a Christmas dinner here with friends, decent food, thought the pudding selection was a little lacking. Really nice atmosphere and the waiters were very friendly.
K. “. W.
What an absolutely awesome team, kept us smiling/laughing even when technology was playing up. Amy was especially helpful. The food was to die for and the service was equally flawless. Would highly recommend!
J. r.
Absolutely lovely meal out! I must say I've had to give you 5 stars!! Never normally give that high scoreline! Being a chef myself I'm always picky but we were Very impressed! Faultless!! The service, the timings, the quality everything was spot on! Even the prices were very reasonable and we loved the chefs specials aswell! Will definitely be returning! Thank you
J. T.
We have been visiting this venue regularly for the last 25 years and have enjoyed many lovely meals here. No matter what time of year, the interior and exterior are both great, and the menu is varied and reasonable. It seems a little chaotic at the moment with social distancing and track and trace, with longer wait times for service and drinks than usual. Perfect for a drink after work or a weekend lunch!
S. K.
Amazing decoration! Amazing food, friendly staff, recommended!!
S. D.
We prebooked lunch for work and it all arrived at the table for 8 of us on time and really lovely food and quality. The waiting staff were pleasant.
S. S.
Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at Britannia today. Good food, good service, pleasant/polite staff. Table outside, beside the river. Pleasant view, Swans on the river & canal boats passing. Social distancing rules in place but still felt comfortable. So much so have provisionally booked a Christmas lunch there with my team in December.
A. V.
Very nice food with good presentation, amazing view. Me, my fiance and my parents had very good time!
S. A.
Very friendly staffs. The food was lovely. Fully recommended if you have been cruising long day like they say " Moor up and join us ".Thank you so much .
M. H.
Food was lovely. Staff where polite and maintained great customer service. Really made you feel relaxed great service
S. B.
Great service and food 👍🏻
D. W.
Fantastic meal. Cooked to PERFECTION Great service..compliments to all involved tonight .
J. H.
Took my girlfriend here to avoid watching the football last night, service delivered by Elisa was really good. The food itself was excellent, I had the Gammon which was very good. My girlfriend had the battered hollumi which she really enjoyed. Very covid safe throughout without making you feel too sterilised and stressed.
M.
Ok , staff pleasant enough , but found servings small , when asking for condiments sauces amount delivered to table was a joke , barely covered the bottom of the tiny ramikins. So in summary, small portions ,overpriced , won't be returning.
C. W.
Beautiful service, thanks to all the staff and Ben for giving us Great service. Happy new year! X
S. O.
Absolutely superb food DELICIOUS!! Can't wait to go again
W. B.
Great food lovely friendly staff
J. B.
Plenty of car parking. Easy access. Go for a meal or just a drink. Lots of outside tables/seats.
Friendly, helpful staff.
Good atmosphere.
G. G.
Overall the food was good and came as we ordered it (slight adaptations with our choices). Service was slow, we needed to ask for a dessert menu, find someone to order desserts and more drinks... When our bill came, it did have extra drinks on which we didn't have, but this was rectified when we addressed this.. The atmosphere was nice, no loud music or people and it wasn't that busy. We used some of our clubcard vouchers towards our bill too.
A. M.
It's been a while since I had been to the Brit, the food has always been ok. Went yesterday and it was fabulous. My son and I.had the beef rib, which was so tasty and just melted of the bone. The kids couldn't stop talking about the desserts as they were brought out so they had sticky toffee pudding, with a little bit of help from dad. Staff were so friendly and excellent. Really nice atmosphere thoroughly enjoyed.
M. J.
Much better than last time we went. Not been for a while due to both bad experiences and bad reports from friends. This time food was slightly slow (we have kids - if we were chatting it would have been fine) but was hot and nice. Portion sizes aren't huge but plenty if I'm not being greedy.
L. C.
Greeted warmly on our arrival and reserved table was ready for us. Although they were very busy are drinks arrived promptly. Food order taken and food delivered in expected time. Food very good and pipping hot. Staff attentive but not over the top. Well worth a visit
C. D.
Plenty of outside tables in shade or sun.
Nice looking spacious pub inside.
They change the menu quite regularly and all the food I've ever had here is very high quality reasonably priced. The service is always very good.
C. C.
Lovely meal in a great setting. The staff were so friendly and Oli was very attentive. Will definitely visit again and would recommend.
D. N.
Great food and even better service. My server Elisa was also very accomodative and polite. Would definitely be coming here in the near future.
J. e.
I've eaten at the 'Brit' on many occasions and it's a great place for a Sunday roast.
Staff are always friendly and accommodating.
My most recent, Monday 17th May (relaxed covid rules) didn't disappoint and I felt 'Covid safe'.
A. S.
Good place, good location and pretty cool riverside seating. Good food to go with that as well, generous portions.
However, the service is a big big let down. They always seem to be in a rush, which is strange given the place is hardly ever full. If they can work upon being more hospitable, this would be an amazing hangout.
L. B.
Visited with family for a quick evening meal before the football. Service from the whole team was great. Food was also amazing.
H. J.
Food was lovely and scenery was beautiful
H. P.
Easy to park
Very slow service considering it was nearly empty.
A. O.
Good food and service. Highly recommended
L. W.
Lovely pub serving great food. Came here for a retirement party meal. Good food choices from the menu. Reasonably priced. Good presentation. Good selection of drink with lots of varieties of gin. Great views from the terrace overlooking the canal. Service very friendly. A great night out.
D.
Enjoyed our meal. Good pies and nice selection of winter vegetables. Unfortunately they'd run out of sweet potato fries and the homemade lemonade was watery so can't stretch to 5 stars.
C. G.
Great food friendly staff good prices
B. P.
Nice atmosphere the soup was nice the main course was also very pallitable pastry was little hard what it contained was very good pudding was very good
R. A.
Won't be coming back in a hurry, told upon arrival that there was a 40 to 50 minutes wait for food, which we were told the previous time we came here.
Food was OK but Steak was tough and not cooked as ordered.
The waitress was good though and did her best, cooking of the food isn't her fault.
Disappointed overall.
N. R.
Have visited this pub for food frequently over the years.
In the past, service was frustratingly slow and the food when it arrived was always disappointing. Have since given it another try and have to say that I've been pleasantly surprised. Although I only had a burger, everything on the plate including the fried egg was absolutely perfect. Delicious!
The pub itself is in great location beside the canal on the Bedford Road and during the summer on a nice day it is extremely nice an relaxing.
j. k.
Food was good. There is a good selection of choices on the menu. Friendly staff.
L. H.
Very good Christmas meal, which was very hot when it was set on the table. A very reasonable price for the set menu. Only one complaint, the portion of Christmas Pudding was miniscule, especially when compared with the other desserts on offer. The staff were very polite and helpful..
J. c.
Had the Sunday roast, but wasn't very impressed.sweet was lovely.not much of an atmosphere.the staff were very pleasant.
C. P.
Had a really pleasant experience and it's really nice to go to an establishment that welcomes it's customers. The general manager had a really friendly demeanour and served us with the biggest of smiles. Our server Alex was very helpful with brilliant attention to detail. The food was also incredible, you could definitely tell Gary, the chef, is very passionate about his food as everything was homemade and to such an impeccable standard. I will definitely be returning again for your vegetarian roast in the near future!!!
J. B.
Went and they found a table. Restriction on menu told after ordered drinks.food great .main had scampi as advertised with bread and butter not asked if wanted it and when the bill came we were charged for bread and butter on top of meal advertised with b and b.sent a message to green king and still waiting. The Friday before Xmas.shame as they accommodated us.
S. N.
Front of house team were lovely, and all doing a good job. The chef half portioned all of our chips, child's baked beans, and child's chocolate brownie. Peppercorn sauce comes in a sachet which is one sachet per portion, which was split between 2, and the onion rings were cooked twice leaving them dark and soggy. Our steaks were cooked very well. I've worked for Greene King and we use other Chef and Brewer pubs which have the same menu and the correct portions matching the spec card. When you're part of a chain and you try to reduce portion size your guests notice. The chef clearly doesn't understand the point of working for a big company using centrally produced menus.
r. r.
Such a nice easy place to get too, plenty of parking. Although be careful in the hot summer days, it is a very popular place to go to. The food is always excellent, even when there is a wait due to how busy it is. In the summer it us lovely to sit by the river and so relaxing. A very popular venue, so the atmosphere is always a really good variety of families, business people, couples and young friends hanging out. Would highly recommend this as a place to visit for a drink or to have dinner/lunch...always pleasant..good service and welcoming.
P.
Good selection of beers. A really nice place to relax in the evening, or to grab a lunchtime drink. This pub is situated on the river and has an outside seating area which looks across it.
I haven't eaten a lot at this pub but the burger I ate was cooked and presented very nicely.
t. e.
Nice enjoyable meal.
Good staff service.
Nice canal dinning settings for a meal with good weather.
Good safety covid measures in place.
R. T.
I really like this pub. It's got a good atmosphere, the staff are polite, I've always enjoyed meals here, and they do some good deals currently Wed to Sat. They also serve food till late. The Britannia beer is quite reasonable - worth a try. I'm not a great fan of Greene King IPA, but Abbot is consistently agreeable. Finally, as I'm a boater, the facility to moor up outside is a great advantage!
M. D.
Charming building, friendly attentive staff, and good food at a reasonable price!

Enjoyed a lovely visit here with my partner last night… fantastic service by Tristan. Food was delicious will definitely be returning.

We went with two others for a Sunday lunch. The atmosphere was very relaxed, friendly, and not particularly rushed. I ordered the slow cooked lamb shoulder. There was a 30 minute wait which we had been made aware of but gave us time to talk.
The food was good but I felt could be improved. I prefer crunchier roasties and a thinner gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was spot on and very tasty. The lamb literally fell of the bone and was very delicious.
I had the millionaires cheesecake for dessert, it was perfect. Not too rich, but not too light. It had a beautiful salted caramel sauce.
Overall the service was attentive but the Sunday roast could have been better.
K. H.
It was a shame they had run out of the filter steak by half six but the rump we had instead was delicious. The Amstel didn't taste like Amstel but was OK. The service was great as always. Overall we had a lovely evening
M. W.
Food was great service was a bit slow maybe due to the great weather we had, all in all we weren't in a rush so didn't bother us at the end of the day
L.
Nice enough place, I popped into Britannia during my lunch break to buy a quick sandwich. The sandwich was a bit pricey (£6+) so I left without any food. However, the other diners seemed to be enjoying their food.
C. O.
Food was good. Steaks were cooked well. Everyone enjoyed their meals and service was good.
E. L.
Came here for Sunday lunch. Had to wait a while for drinks to come and food. Roast dinner turkey and the beef were tender and well cooked and veg were nice only thing that let it down were the roast potatoes they were very hard only 3 little ones, over cooked no decent taste just tasted like they were from a packet of frozen ones. We all agreed the potatoes were not nice and it must be how they are as the time before they were quite similar when he had a roast here but this time even.worse. I think a lot of people feel the same as heard another table of people saying same thing. Be nice if they changed them and did better ones. On a better note the desserts were good, the crumble and Bakewell tart was tasty.
L. B.
A decent pub with nothing special to recommend it. I came here for a pub lunch with colleagues on a Thursday lunchtime and it was unusually busy. Service overall wasn't great - there was a long delay in getting menus and mains - but we weren't in a rush.
Good news for fellow vegans: there's an entire menu! You have to ask for the whole thing (why not provide at least one per table?) although some items are on the main menu. The 'ultimate vegan burger' was actually pretty good for the price, although beware if you don't like (vegan) mayo.
I have been here in the past for a drink outside along the canal which is where the Brit best shines. Perhaps wait until the weather is better!
R. L.
came in Saturday waiter was great and staff lovely but way to slow drinks took 25 minutes and food took 45/1 hour to get there and we had a salad and a jacket potato, the food was really good even if we did have to wait hence the 3 stars.
went to pay took to long so we went to the bar met duty manager who didn't really seem fused about we waited to pay. she didn't even smile or greet us shame use to be really good but had a few bad visits.
S. O.
Wonderful place with great surroundings. Always plenty of great dishes to choose from with a wonderful selection of drinks. Even my 16 year old loves coming here.
L. M. I. L. C.
We came yesterday for lunch with my partner. Lovely day and we went outside by the river which is very pleasant. The staff is friendly. The service is good...the food was deliciius. Didn't put 5 stars as there were just a little portion of chips with the classic burger. Shame....
A. H.
Was nice cozy pub, we had our young children here and whilst I would say it's great for kids or young children as it's quite trendy, I would say they were very welcoming and great staff. The guys behind the bar were good fun, professional and efficient. The waiters and waitresses were also efficient and polite.
N. C.
What a fantastic find! Lovely rustic pub with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and a great menu.
I ate here two nights in a row while away on business and on both occasions, the food was superb. The staff were all brilliant, Suki in particular was outstanding. Highly recommended (would also recommend booking a table in advance).
s.
Eat here on two successive nights whilst staying at the nearby Holiday Inn. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was good.
W. W.
Excellent place for food and service, can't fault it. Staff were attentive, without asking if everything was ok every few minutes. Food was well cooked and reasonably priced. The perfect place for a relaxing meal.
J. C.
Nice atmosphere and very pleasant staff, good choice of food and drinks. However, portions did not justify the price. We had 3 courses each but did not feel that we got value for money. Although some dishes were well prepared and tasty, they were let down by the accompaniments. In particular the beef rib and pulled pork meal was a real let down in that it was a tiny portion of pulled pork in a small ramekin and a large beef rib bone with hardly any meat on it served with 2 tiny and vastly overcooked corn on the cob peices.
R. C.
I really like the food here but they struggle with service a lot. On a number of occasions we've stuffered from under staffing. First we sat down and actually walked out after we had booked. They took ages to take our drinks order and there was discontent from all the tables around. Thinking this was an isolated incident we booked to go for my mum's birthday, having booked for lunch we expected to not have to wait but then we were told there was a 45 min wait for food. The food turned up a bit earlier but we asked for some adjustments to the meals such as swapping potatoes for more veg and no mushrooms in a dish but these were ignored.
d. M.
Was given recommendations to visit this location. To say we was very disappointed is a understatement. The sea bass dish was so full of oil and the rice was like a pudding . The prawn cocktail come in s cup with a piece of dead lettuce and it smelt so bad. Not a place I would go back to. So very disappointed for wife’s birthday meal.
A. K.
Great service, good food and drink and lovely staff.
T. F.
Visit for granddaughters 9th birthday. We wanted somewhere more grown up than a wacky warehouse and McDonald's!! Staff are so thoughtful and considerate they made my granddaughter feel so special on her birthday. The venue is charming and has a historical air. The food was tasty, hot and plenty of it! Thank you for all for a lovely family evening!
J. F.
Great setting by the river. But two pints of Abbot were unfortunately a bit vinegary after being substituted for Tim Taylor which was on the app but not available. We let it pass, downed the dodgy Abbot and moved on but hopefully things will be better next time.
A.
Very cozy place with nice atmosphere but the food portions are for giants🤪
G. B.
Had a lovely meal and service was good and staff were very friendly
M. S.
Popped in on a whim for a Sunday lunch. Fast and friendly service. Food was just what we needed and very nice. Good atmosphere. Got very busy towards 13:00 so maybe worth booking to secure a table.
N.
Here for our wedding anniversary. We had the Autumn Specials - Hog Roast burger with skin on chips and slaw with apple sauce. Husband had Chicken with Kale. Both tasted delicious.
My only problem was my burger was served on a narrow oblong wooden sort of skillet and my chips were in a plant pot. This made eating the burger difficult. They did offer me a plate but I'd already started my meal, and didn't want to make a fuss...it should have been on a plate in the first place 😉 Presentation looked fantastic, just impractical to eat. For pud we both had gooseberry crumble with custard/ice cream. Altogether a lovely evening. Staff were attentive and the place had a nice candlelit atmosphere.
P. L.
Nice setting by the river, and the inside is pleasantly mock-rustic. It's focus is clearly on food and when I visited it was extremely busy.
Although I liked the place I was unimpressed with the food. My lamb was extremely fatty and what meat there was was tough and tasteless. Vegetables were hard too. Maybe I was just unlucky with my dish.
M. S.
Outstanding kitchen. The dishes are simply great. Prices aren't the lowest, but the dishes are worth every penny.
And their service is just amazing.
l. m.
Beautiful setting overlooking the river and lovely rustic interior, full of charm.
Staff are very polite and helpful.
T. M.
A lovely pub next to a canal and reasonably priced food with friendly helpful staff
D. P.
Took family for Sunday lunch for first time. Amazing menu, food and very friendly service. Also fair price for the quality and great roast dinners (second only to the ones my nan cooked :) ) will be visiting again.
S. O.
A really massive pub, with low wooden beams and a country style atmosphere, with plenty of places to have a private drink and conversation. Good range of drinks available on tap and by bottle. Great outdoor area by the canal with occasional narrow boats drifting by. A big car park and easy to reach. Food was better than expected and the service quite good. An island of peace and relaxation in the midst of offices and industry. Good for bringing family.
W. S.
Enjoy the location and the food was good quality but was unimpressed, when, having ordered main meals from the cheaper lunch menu followed by a dessert from same menu, I was charged full price for the dessert because we didn't order it at the same time as the main course. This is silly because
A. We didn't know whether we wanted a dessert til after we'd eaten the main and
B. The dessert would have deteriorated if brought out at same time as the main.
L. L.
Lovely waitresses. Really nice food. First time visiting and was really pleased. Their sharer desert is to die for!!! :)
L. S.
Came for Sunday dinner with hubby and the kids as was bday yesterday and had an amazing rib of beef with extras and the most amazing strawberry choux bun.. kids full and happy makes mum and dad very happy 😊
T. A.
Food and building is great! Staff could be a bit faster but they are nice once you manage to get their attention. The canalside patio is impressive.
L. G.
Very good Food....thank you
A. E.
Good food - very busy and slow service. Waiting staff do a good job but waiting 45 mins between starter and mains was a little much. Nice location and sitting out the back near the river is quite lovely on a sunny evening.
B. B.
On Thursday 27/12/18 my daughter, cousin and her children had a wonderful starter of Whitebait and Scallops we ALL enjoyed it. For our mains I had chicken, bacon & avocado salad with chips absolutely devine. The others, 2 had lamb with mashed potatoes plus veg, 1 had beef with cheese mashed potatoes and the other beef pie with mashed potatoes the plates were left clean we were all too full to have a pudding although tempting. The Britannia in Northampton know have to serve up great meals. We will be back and can thoroughly recommend the food and hospitality it was great to be a customer. WELL DONE 10/10
P. P.
Lovely setting for a pub, staff are friendly and attentive.
Went for Sunday lunch food came out in good time, really well cooked, will definitely be back 👍
T. C. A.
Wide range of food all at outstanding quality and friendly service. View just makes it even better.
Edit: having just completed work trial I can say their hygiene standards are better then most places. Sadly I won't get chance to work here.
N. P.
Lovely setting right beside a slow river
M.
Lovely quality of fish and chips 🍟
R. S.
Friendly, polite and accommodating staff, beautiful and clean environment, nice views of the river and a very enjoyable meal, all in all, a very good experience. We will definitely be coming back and recommend this place to others.
C. V. A.
The food was rather dissaponting, it was just warm and the battered haloumi was very oily. Atmosphere is good. It was our waitresses first day, she did really well. Service was slow at the bar
n. l.
Great food and a good price, good staff who were extremely polite and helpful we will definitely be back 😀
T. L.
Stunning, beautiful canal side pub. My partner and i had the most delicious food. Lovely decor and outdoor area. Friendly staff. Will definately come again soon. Highly recommend
B. P.
Dropped in quite late on a week night.
Service was very friendly and helpful, the food was nice and fairly priced.
Only thing that's stopped me giving a higher score was that the order was messed up and didnt come as requested, then when we asked for sauces they never arrived.
S. R.
Food was lovely but service very poor. Took 45 minutes for main course to arrive and when dessert came out three of the six came and were almost finished before my husband asked where the other three were. Which then arrived as the other three finished.
V. A.
Oops. Forgot to post on here. Food was lovely, waiter was very polite, food was very nice, we came in a group of nine of us and was very impressed how quick the food arrived. The pate was amazing!
A. S.
Pros:
- The outside sitting area is great on a sunny day. Good view and vibe by the pond.
Cons:
- The bottles of ketchup and mayonnaise are all pretty much empty. Had to press several times before anything would come out.
- Order a chicken burger from the lunch time menu for £7. Got two pieces of small bread, a piece of chicken, a single leaf of lettuce. No mayo, no cheese, no salad. So to sum up, 1 piece of chicken and 2 pieces of bread without any dressing for a so called burger. Also some chips. All for £7. Disappointed.
M. P.
Very nice place, both as a diner as well as pub. Easy access and planty of parking outside, very nicely maitained outside sitting area especially at rear facing canal/river. Heated seating outside for colder evenings. Very extensive choice of dishes on the menu, definitely at high end standard with very reasonable prices. Beautiful presentation of dishes and everything tastes even better then it looks. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Interior very cozy with nice ambience of dimmed lights and still kept in typical classic and rustic style. Highly recommended.
M. D.
During busy periods, the waiting time for food can be extremely long. I really wish that I was told this at the time of ordering, so I could make a disision as to wait or go. I am aware other places do the same, but it would be nice to have a choice.
H. S.
Went on christmas eve. Cosy candle lit table for 2. Had the usual menu rather than the seasonal one. Food was cooked and presented well. Friendly staff and just what we wanted.
C. W.
Lovely staff, lovely food. Always given right amount of time of being left alone to talk with my friends and yet tentative enough to check 'is everything ok' without being annoying. Good car parking.
T. C.
Yeah, not a bad place. Most recent visit felt rushed by one of the male bar staff. Wouldn't put me off going again, great for after work drinks and a lite bite.
J. D.
Friendly service but lately the quality of food has dropped. Wife and I had the classical fish and chips and the fish was barely cooked. They replaced it without argument but replacements were barely improved
M. M.
I've always loved this pub. Its cosy and comfortable, with always a warm welcome and delicious food... We popped in for a cheeky bite to eat and were not disappointed!!! I was in heaven with the amount of sea food available on the menu to choose from. I'm no longer a local but it was sure worth the trip
J. A.
An great choice for a family lunch. Good choice. Good food. Excellent service.
B. M.
Bought 2 new electric bikes last year, very pleased with both, also bought bike accessories and extra parts., knowledgeable staff and friendly, any problems always sorted for me.Will be going back for more purchase's in the future, would recommend.
S. L.
Very nice meal four four of us hospitality was very nice and friendly fully booked up up a gentleman let's have a table for an hour and a half which is very nice as a gentleman thank you very much had a lovely meal
C. C.
I love this place, friendly staff, best Sunday Roast in town for me. Love sitting near the canal with a drink..its a gorgeous pub, great management too..See you soon xx
J. R.
Late lunch on a Tuesday. Food was lovely. Service was attentive. Rum and coke glaze on my husband's gammon was one that has to be sampled.
D. B.
Service was very slow, had to chase up the staff several times to get service. Was over 30 minutes before our food order was taken. Complained about no paper in ladies loo which was still the same an hour later.
H. T.
The best thing about this pub is its location by the canal. The food is also really good, when they get it right. Unfortunately, it is rare that a visit to the Britannia goes smoothly. Last night's visit started off with 4 members of staff walking past us while waiting at the "please wait here to be seated" without so much as an acknowledgement of our presence despite the pub being pretty empty. Luckily once seated after a 5 minute wait, everything else went OK. Food came fairly quickly albeit there was a long delay between the first meals coming out and my meal arriving.
I will go to the Britannia again but it's usually quite low on a list of choices. It's sister pub, The Greyhound in Milton Malsor is generally a much better all round experience
K. L. M. M.
I tried the sunday roast which was too much food and the lamb slightly dry.l much prefe the more refined and lighter option, sea bass with scallops and risotto.
A. S.
Great menu, friendly staff, outdoor area overlooking the river, plenty car parking
K. L.
Well, it was a spur of the moment visit, and we decided to sit outside in the rain, but the food we ordered was lovely, the staff super friendly and I miss coming here!
T. A.
I love Britannia to bits , I really loved it since from the first day I visited in 2006. Every time I go in there love the environment , the staff are so friendly and they make you feel atmosphere. Wonderful wonderful place to chill in with good friends. Thanks Britannia keep it up. Cheers
R. A.
Nice surroundings serving average food but very, very slow service. 30 mins between courses and a 20 min wait for coffee.
Visited again and even more disappointing. Well below average food, will not use again
A. K.
Great food, great staff, great pub. Beautifully locatated on the side of the river with mooring space so boat people can moor up and stop for a drink or bite to eat. Highly recommended!!!!
E. B.
Friendly bar staff... front of house 'restaurant' host seemed a little less accommodating and sent me to the, as previously mentioned, friendly barmaid. Food ordered... Nice ambiance. Goodly pint of Black Sheep and ok starter of Whitebait. Before I had got halfway through the fish, the lamb main arrives, surrounded by vegetables that had clearly been plated up some time before the, what turns out to be, nice, slow cooked shoulder of lamb. Dried up veg aside, all in all not bad... greatly enhanced by the terrace by the river.
F. D.
We had our christmas dinner here and it was amazing !!! Food was fantastic, staff were great and I will definitely go back next christmas. Absolutely loved it 😁😁😁
C.
Beautiful riverside setting, friendly staff, food ok for pub style grub.
A. C.
Nice canal side pub. Food well cooked less busy midweek, service could be faster when quieter. But staff are very polite.
S. P.
Amazing food, beautiful interior decor, good prices and very professional friendly staff
N. S.
Lovely meal nice and clean good value for money 💰👍
H. G.
Good food, good beer but service was slow. Bar staff ignored us until they couldn't ignore us anymore, seemed more interested in each other than customers.
G. M.
Basics are good, not impressed with the platters though!
R. Y.
It's handy for work and the service is good. What I like most about it is being able to relax by the waterways. If there's any down side, is the popularity. It's sometimes difficult to move due to the large amount of patrons.
T. W.
Didn't eat here, over an hour for food (although at least they mentioned upfront allowing me to make the decision.) and the tables seemed half empty. Nice seating area outside for summer drinks
M. J.
Food amazing, staff so pleasant, was a pleasure to be there . Thank you x
K. S.
Great pub, lovely outside seating area along the canal. Always busy with good atmosphere, good food and many drink deals. Boat owners are welcome to moor up and come in for drinks too.
C. M.
Food was okay but a little over priced for what you get. Drinks service was slow and the non alcoholic selection is fairly poor.
G. M.
Had a lovely fish and chips meal. Not too busy and staff were attentive. Would recommend :-) all paid for with Tesco vouchers so a double bonus
S. W.
We hadn't booked a table for Sunday lunch, but the staff were able to fit us in with very little wait. Excellent Sunday roast. Will certainly visit again.
C. M.
Very pleasant staff, couldn't do enough to help. The food, as usual, was amazing
A. C.
Lovely huge pub, lots of tables and areas to sit, eat, drink. Fabulous vegetarian food including vegetarian 'fish' and chips. Friendly, efficient staff, good prices.
S. G.
Late booking but managed to get a table. It looked as if suffering with the staff shortage as turning away customers and social distancing?
D. c.
I had my wedding reception here 2 and a half years ago was great service and great menu and still is.. It looks lovely and christmasy warm and friendly. Great location we walked in and was greeted like old friend s by the lovely suzi.. Would recommend you come and see for yourself s.
R. A.
Stopped for lunch on a Saturday. Not overly busy and we were served quickly. Good food and drinks.
J. H.
Came in for lunch with some friends. Fabulous service from the whole team under really busy conditions. Will certainly be returning.
A. P.
Lovely food and lovely atmosphere. Riverside dining in the summer looks like it would be superb. Staff very catering and attentive
S. S.
A very dear friend of mine took me to Olney to search out the charity shops there, on the way home we both said we fancy a half pint of something nice so we saw the sign for the Britannia, pulled in, large car park.. went inside and a lovely stylish combination of Olde world and modern chic, very cosy and lovely friendly staff, we didn't eat but the menus are very well thought out and very reasonably priced too, also picked up the week day menu that runs Monday to Saturday, also very well thought out and and very well priced.. please do check them out.. family orientated too.
M. D.
Most fantastic pork belly ever! I don't say that lightly. Nice easy atmosphere, friendly staff. Great!
g. s.
Lovely food lovely staff would definitely come here again for lunch
R. L.
Really nice food and excellent selection of drinks. Suki the waitress was really pleasant and was really helpful. Would recommend. Lots of dirrent gins to try.
a. l.
Nice pub by the canal. Food is good and not too expensive.
I. K.
Nice food and had vouchers sent online buy1 get 1 free on meals so was great deal for our group of friends; not the best gluten free choices but aceptable
L. R.
A lot has changed since we were there. On Sunday evening we were still able to get Sunday roast and we all enjoyed it, nice surroundings, good food, good service, will be worth another visit
M. C.
Nice place for drinks. Food looked good but didn't have any myself.
P. N.
We all enjoyed the lunch menus we had chosen, served hot by the friendly staff. The only criticism was a mistake on the bill but easily rectified.
J. D.
Food was excellent. Service was brilliant. Highly recommend.
A. E.
Did have everything we wanted on the menu but maybe that was because it was New year's day. What we did order was excellent and staff were brill. Lovely night
R. M.
Really nice pub. Good wide menu
M. R.
Very nice location by the canal/river. Best in the summer when you can sit outside. Food what you would expect these days from a busy pub. Its ok there's better places but on the other hand theres much worse. Give it a try if you've never been before.
D. C.
Popped in for a quick afternoon snack. Lovely place and great service.
K. N.
Lovely
We enjoyed a sharer
We did our courting here 48 years ago the place has really changed from two small homely rooms to a big busy inn
The food war good
wish you did tooms for the night
n. f.
Good place but just expensive
C. B.
Very slow service waitress left us half hour before taking order. Dessert was no better half hour before taking order then when it came it was totally uncooked and inedible.
A. J.
Came here for a quick lunch the other day... food and service fantastic. Will be returning soon. ☺️
t. R.
Nice pub, visited many times. Food has always been a bit hit and miss. Had really good ones,Some not so.
s. L.

Delicious and filling Sunday Roast had by our party of 4 today. Could not fault it. Service was excellent
L. C.
Food and service was 5 star. Will be going back again soon. If you haven't tried it there yet, get yourself down for a try.
G. B.
My wife and I invited a friend yesterday, the staff was professional and helpful, the 2 sharers that we order were delicious. Very good job, we'll be back for sure
J. B.
Nice meals at reasonable prices and very accomodating to your needs. Certainly go again. Dogs are welcome too which is a bonus.
A. W.
I stopped off here by chance and how pleased was I that I did. What a lovely experience it was from the food, to the staff and the service I received. This is a well run estabishment that I look forward to visiting again. Merry Christmas
S. S.
Always good food, staff helpful
G. P.
Great meal, had the steak and ale pie. Great.
The time from order to service was a little long, but that was what we wanted on this visit.
E.
Excellent all round surroundings, staff and food.
M. S. M.
Real quality food, good atmosphere, nice service and I think value for money all round.
D. C.
Really good pub grub. Vegan burger lovely and salad bowl was good. Staff pleasant and coffee really nice. Would go again.
M. H.
Very nice meal with friends good service and would recommend to anyone
J. D.
Really good Riverside pub with a large menu. However, waaay understaffed with a long wait for food and too few staff on the bar to get served however food was excellent when it arrived.
j. b.
Great evening out , service good , food good and barmaid ( person ) good considering she only started job about 3 hours before . Plus got discount for step daughters Birthday . Thank you .
H. F.
Nice pub with an outside area backing onto the canal, part of the Chef & Brewer group of pubs. Food is ok but not exceptional. A resonable selection of beers.
J. D.
Great food, great staff totally customer focused, great company reasonably priced situated by a canal / River Nene a fantastic romantic evening with my loving wife bless her....
M. S.
Service slow, one meal cold sent back. Took 10 mins to return. Waited again for desserts.
Food ok, but poor / slow service.
g. k.
Lovely meal, extensive gluten free menu and the surrounding was lovely watching the boats and kayaks go by
s. g.
Expensive for the quality on offer. Service very average and numerous mistakes. Probably not a Saturday night place, much better at lunch.
M. B.
Lovely meal ,great service ,the waitress we had was excellent (Alex I think )very friend young lady and very attentive ,thanks
C. R.
Lovely place and brilliant atmosphere, husband and I really enjoyed our dinner there last Sunday!
E. B.

H. G.
Lovely food. Great atmosphere
T. A.
Lovely staff and lovely food.. would recommend
C. J.
Pretty nice food. We had some issues but they were dealt with promptly and politely
P. T. L.
Food was superb but we had to wait over an hour for our food
J. C.
Good food and drink in an olde world style environment that looked a bit fake to me but I could be wrong. Prices are a bit steep to be honest, There are discounts available after subscribing to their website.
R. A.
Lovely food and social distancing done very well. Staff were lovely too.
S. V.
Good service, good selection of drinks and an excellent menu. Outside is beautiful by the canal side in summer. Very little complaint.
A. B.
Came here for a lunchtime drink during work. Sat by the canal in the garden. Was very nice. Staff were friendly, good selection of drinks.
L. C.
The food was very nice and the staff very pleasant service.
P. B.

Lovely setting, over looking the river Nene navigation.
B. H.
Had lunch yesterday, best pub lunch for years we will return next time we are in the area.
Thank you the staff were fantastic especially Sylvia.
J. G.
Food lovely, service very slow.
R.
0ast few times been here have been let down by service, forgetting drinks orders etc food is good although service not great
a. g.
Chicken in basket with Garlic kiev sauce is the best on the menu. The outside sitting it great as well :)
B. S.
Great menu, good atmosphere, service a bit slow at times but overall a really nice pub.
A. S.
Nice food and a pleasant place to eat. The selection was not the biggest but everyone was able to select a number of things that they liked.
a. j.
Very nice pub on canal can get busy especially lunchtimes and American evenings so booking may be advisable to guarantee a table. Food very good table service
D. P.
Service was quick and friendly, food was cooked to perfection and nicely presented. Would definitely go again if in the area
R. B. R.
Perfect setting, cheerful efficient staff, good value tasty food. Recommended.
M. M.
My first trip to this lovely pub, arriving by narrowboat and mooring alongside. A great spot to sit outside watching the river.
s.
Good food, service was a bit slow but it was very busy and we hadn't booked!
D. S.
Always a good meal and the service is hard to fault.
C. F.
Just the place for a cold canal side drink on a sunny day. Plenty of sunshades for those avoiding direct sunlight and a mellow atmosphere to relax in to.
B. K.
Food was ok, but delivery was slow and staff were few. No atmosphere.
A. A. A.
Beautiful pub on the canal. Good food with a solid selection of drinks; just needed a porter or craft stout to completely win my heart.
P. D.
Relaxing environment with possibility seating by the water.
M. H.
Lovely. Good good except I had to get my own knife and folk. They didn't bring any cutlery with my gidh and chips
G.
Service with a smile. Very welcoming atmosphere.
M. H.
food was nice the service was slow half hour wait for a drink 45 mins for dessert had to keep on asking where is my drink and dessert they need to us there game
U.
Great food, I loved the lamb shoulder. Whilst the food was hot and tasty, it took a while to get served drinks and food.
G. H.
Visited the Britannia for Christmas with the family can't wait to visit again as soon as we are able to service and food was amazing
R. C.
Great venue, and location makes it very popular, staff seemed to be busy to the point of being stressed, maybe need more help around busy periods, as it's a mix of help yourself and table service, it was almost impossible a couple of times to get what we needed.

Also a lovely peaceful setting good food and choice of drink only reason for no 5 stars is cost it's just a little pricey in comparison to similar places for food but beautiful summer or winter
