Reviews of Lamport Swan
J. B.
We haven't visited this pub for a few years so we decided to treat my mum and give it a visit. We booked a table for a Saturday night and were greeted by a very friendly and helpful member of staff. The Pub and restaurant are very spacious, clean and modern with a really nice vibe. The menu had a nice selection to choose from, but could have been a little larger in choice. We had a selection of breads and a Brixworth pate to share between 3 of us which was plentiful and very tasty. For mains two us were going to order the breaded pork but unfortunately they had "just sold the last one." So I ordered the 6oz beef burger, my wife ordered the chicken burger and my mum ordered the chicken Normandy. Both burgers were delicious however the chicken Normandy was tasteless and the mash that came with it was an unattractive, tasteless sloppy mess. For desserts we had a couple of the tiramisu cheesecakes and a sticky toffee pudding. All were really nice. With coffees and a couple of drinks each, the bill came to over £125 which was a little bit pricey. However the staff were very polite, friendly and professional with the right amount of attention paid. Shame the chef didn't pay the same attention to the chicken dinner.

An angelic pub situated within a greenbelt of natural beauty. Sporting a garden that even Alan Titchmarsh couldn't say anything bad about. The food is of good taste & the young staff are extremely polite & well versed.

Called in on the off chance of a table on Bank holiday Monday.
We were found a table and we're very soon asked if we wanted a drink and was given plenty of time to decide.
The food was very good and reasonable priced.
The staff were warm and friendly.
Not having been here for years it has from what I recall maintained a good standard and if in the area again I would have no hesitation to eat here again
D. T.
Staff were very accommodating and friendly, a jolly atmosphere inside with light background music and a good beer garden. The pork & crackling Sunday lunch I had was excellent and all round good value for money. I would not hesitate to visit again!
j. t.
Lovely staff and lovely location, we sat outside and the gardens and views were lovely.
Unfortunately the quality of the food let the restaurant down.
All our meals were bland with no flavour, the mash potato was terrible, with no taste whatsoever, and a very thick pasty consistency.
Unfortunately will not be returning which is a shame as the location and decor was really nice.

Booked a table for a Saturday night. Friendly welcoming staff. Table not crammed in. Service for drinks excellent. Food ordered (starters and mains). Excellent starters and mains. No issues with quality of food or in the service provided. Will certainly book a table in the future.
C. W.
Staff very nice and accommodating.
Some of the food was OK, some not so. 2 of us had the chicken in apple cider, this was just tasteless. Next to no veg. In fact one had half a carrot slice and one apple slice, the other had none.
The linguini was also tasteless which was unfortunate as well presented.
Do not bother with sausage and mash.
Desert.... do not have the crumble,.. The topping is raw. Tasted like crumble mix just sprinkled on rhubarb and forgot to cook. I asked but the waitress informed ' this is how it's supposed to be'
Best bit was the family being together to celebrate my birthday. Probably won't return for a long time.....
s. s.
Absolutely loved it!! Staff were attentive and very chatty. Food was 10/10 i had the linguine and my son had the sausage and mash, it was just what we needed! Would definitely come again and recommend to family and friends.
P. P.
Well run pub/restaurant. Very friendly staff with excellent food and service.
Prices are fair for the standard of food and service. Plenty of onside parking makes it a good place for a night out.
J. B.
Staff are always amazing. So helpful, friendly and a good laugh too. Been her several times, always so welcoming.
L. H.
Excellent vegan and vegetarian food.
Our Waitress was Alisha and she made our visit even more enjoyable with her personality, helpfulness, fun and friendliness.
G. B.
We visited mid afternoon on a Sunday, having never been before, it's a really nice gastro pub environment, light open and airy. The staff were very friendly, and our waitress initially was very helpful regarding dietary requirements. We opted to skip starters, but mains were delivered with good efficiency and really tasty food, the Sunday roast Trio had really well cooked meat, the beef still pink, and 3 were very tender and succulent. Kids meals looked good, and we're enjoyed by our 9 and 6 Yo's
The service became a little patchy at this point, no one came to check everything was okay, or if any more drinks were needed, the finished plates sat on the table for over 5 minutes once we had finished.
Deserts were ordered, and again they were keen to help deal with finding something non dairy for one of the adults. I had a chocolate bread and butter pudding which was devine, but for some reason was served a few minutes after the other 3 desserts.
D. Q.
Excellent Brekkie/Brunch. Smashed Avo's on Sour Dough with Poach Eggs and Bacon, Sweet Potato Hash and Black Pudding with eggs and Full English, all perfectly prepared and presented. As close to a "Melbourne" Brekkie we've found in England. Shame we were the only group in between 10 and 11.30 to enjoy!
B. R.
Good. Only twa and coffee but warm welcome. Not a bad price for a pub. 😉😉
A. H.
Good selection on menu and very pleasant seating area with very friendly & helpful staff
A. W.
Fabulous food and menu, great service and excellent covid measures. Simply brilliant.
S. B.
Went here today for Sunday dinner really good food and service would highly recommend it
K. T.
The food and service were great, loose a star for lack of vegan choice - only a single starter, & the only reason there was a choice for desert was because they have an ice cream/sorbet option. Thoroughly recommend for a one off, but if vegan don't be thinking about visiting regularly.
J. E.
Food was good, I found that the chicken was a little bit dry and the Gratian that I had could have don with some more source but aside that the staff were very friendly. Food was well presented and very nice open space. Would recommend
M. J.
Brilliant spot brilliant service (Covid policy working well with good separation) great food and beer. Will visit again.
We often use this as base to start and finish walks in the area.
J. B.
Very tasty sunday roast. Food was hot, delivered promptly and lovely service. Slight mix up with the desserts and beer but nothing that wasnt rectified quickly. Only constructive criticism would be to make the kids roasts a bit plainer. My two didnt like the fancy roast carrots and the red cabbage. Apart from that, delicious.
J. O.
Beautiful garden, food was excellent and the service was great - we'll definitely be back!
M. K.
A very congenial hostelry. With a pleasant atmosphere. Will visit again.
A. B.
Excellent food, best Nachos tasted so far.
R. K.
The staff was superb and deserved all five stars. The only reason I gave it four was the menu. While the quality was great the menu is a replica of the Brampton Halt. Two pubs in close proximity with the identical menu was a little disappointing. That said well worth a visit and would recommend
P. H.
We brought our little dog and sat and eat in the bar. We were greeted warmly and ate their nibbles. They were really tasty and good value for money. We will come back again soon.
C. K.
Very friendly and attentive staff I enjoyed the roast.
W. J.
Absolutely fabulous. The service, the food and the décor.
C. D.
Not was it was. The main was ok but the cheesecake dessert was definitely not worth the money. I realised that desserts are generally not worth the money but this one was particularly unworthy!
D. W.
Good food. Open modern environment. Very friendly and happy staff. Great location to meet friends or family between Northampton and Market harborough.
c. M.
Not very busy. Staff polite and efficient expensive for what we had . decor pleasant
H. H.
I enjoyed a lovely lunch here today. The food was delicious and hot (steak and ale pie with a warm brownie and ice cream for dessert). I felt really safe as I could see the staff and customers taking the COVID measures very seriously. The staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely meal.
A. C.
Great place to catch the sunset on the terrace, panoramic views across the vista. Extensive drinks array and reasonably priced. Didn’t overly rate the food, but it’s well loved locally. Drivers: National speed limit road outside (A508) with blind entrance to this establishment requires particular care.
L. W.
Lovely setting, friendly and attentive service and really good food. Quite reasonably priced for such high quality.
S. R.
Very lovely atmosphere and surroundings. Fantastic staff. Food good, falling just short of very good. I had ribs which were a little tasteless, hunters chicken was slightly burnt tasting. However, nachos were amazing and salted caramel brownie was excellent.
A. S.
Lovely pub, service of the bar/staff were faultless. If you are in the are I would recommend a visit.
K. G.
Just passing on the off chance and pleasantly surprised
Friendly staff spotless pub and 5 star food.
P. B.
Great food, I was with a couple of fussy eaters and both really enjoyed the food. Lovely place with really nice staff. Definitely recommend.
J. H.
It was a shame the Sea bass was off the menu, as a pescatarian. However, what we did have was well cooked. And the staff could not do enough. Very enjoyable visit 👍
D. M.
This is one of those places where when you come in you may think it is a pub. It is to some extent, at least the entrance, but then you get in and you may think you're in an actual restaurant. The ambiance is nice, tastefully decorated. We were a pretty big group, but we got our lunch order relatively quick. I had a veggie Thai curry which was delicious and some burgers around looked pretty good. We came in the winter season period and the decorations were quite tasteful and added to the festive feel. Overall recommended, it really was that good.
S. V.
Good size menu with a number of vegetarian options. The quality and flavour of food is excellent. Staff are friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean, well laid out and relaxing. The car park can get a little cramped but is sufficient. Overall, a lovely time.
A. P.
Upmarket dining pub. We just had a drink of rather nice wine, but pricey.
J. M. i.
Soooooo good. Food excellent, staff so friendly. Can't wait to go back
M. A.
Nice location. Good food. Friendly staff
P. P.
Lovely location and food, dog friendly and somewhere worth a visit if its for a special meal. Great in summer and winter.
A. W.
Interior nice and we'll spaced. Food ok- my veggie burger and chips were all lukewarm and the accomplishments were forgotten... Other dishes were ok.
T. S.
Great food Good atmosphere
n. k.
Lovely staff and food

A bit pricey, but great staff and service.
A. L.
Very nice place and food good
C. P.
Excellent lunch choice

A. H.
Had a lovely meal here. Friendly bar staff, and the food top notch.
D. R.
Lovely setting in a historic village, varied menu and a decent wine list. The staff were all super friendly and attentive. I had the Rooster burger and fries, it was excellent. I'd certainly eat here again next time I am in the area.
H. S.
Good value tasty pub food. Really clean and attractive place with stunning views over the rolling countryside. Had the chicken wings and scampi. Partner had cheese croquettes and fish and chips. Both were tasty and cooked to perfection.
C. B.
My son and I had dinner here yesterday. The food was delicious but the service was fantastic. The waitress who served us was friendly, attentive and very personable.
We will definitely be eating here more often.
J. B.
Not been to the swan for many years, was very surprised; clean bright lovely atmosphere. Menu fresh and innovative. Had a lovely time, would really recommend a visit. Only problem was ladies toilets, was disappointed that they couldn't take the time to put the toilet roll in the dispenser, instead of on top, found it on the floor!
a. p.
Night out despite the restrictions with six. Was nice warm friendly ambiance sitting around the fire enjoying drinks and snacks. The staff were very helpful and the service was great. First time, hopefully not the last.
a. A.
Food was fine but overpriced. Service was lacking, overheard waitress telling another table about specials, we weren't told, and were only asked if the food was okay when almost finished.
K. D.
Was going to write a bad review as it took 20 mins to get our order taken even tho there were only 2 other tables being served but the food was absolutely beautiful! Got the rump steak that tasted more like a fillet. Well recommend if you would like a lovely dinner
P. P.
Lovely location and food, dog friendly and somewhere worth a visit if its for a special meal. Great in summer and winter.
R. G.
Excellent meal, warm cosy atmosphere, great service.
J. R.
We visit regularly and always fantastic
Great food and beer, friendly staff always a warm welcome,
Beer garden has a great view too
K. L.
This pub has the best view for a sunset if you sit out the front.
Staff are polite, great menu, make you a proper Aperol spritz. Great building.
S. H.
The location and setting I thought was lovely however I thought the food let it down. Ordered the roast pork and had to pay extra for crackling?? Which when it came it was presented as a slab of crackling that was in, edible. The veg was rock hard, I like my veg crunchy but not as so you can't get the fork in the roast potatoes were a let down and it was also cold. Ordered drinks to come with the food which came after the food. I do not feel that the food or level of service matched the prices charged. Felt very let down by the whole meal.
N. R.
Visited the The Swan early in January and was pleasantly surprised. Some of the reviews cast this establishment in an unfavourable light, however, our experience was very positive. The decor is very modern and well maintained. The restaurant was very cleaned and service was excellent. The food we chose from the menu, (roast belly of pork and blade of beef) was very well cooked and tasted delicious. A very pleasant evening out.
L. C.
Love the pub, great location and not far to go so been a few times for drinks with friends. Went for an evening meal a few months ago and 1 main was forgotten so our friend got his 35 mins after us. Awkward as we'd finished ours by the time it actually appeared. He wasn't charged for it and to be fair ours was lovely so we let it go and thought we'd try again another time.
Been today for Father's Day. The lady that served us was friendly and efficient. No problems there considering it was very busy.
However I can honestly say my roast pork meal was very uninspiring. Not the worst meal I've had but pretty poor, tiny pieces and far too fatty, the roast potatoes tasted like they do when they've been standing/reheated. Also not everything listed with the pork came on the plate so I asked why and was told it wasn't included but the chef sent some out anyway. Either check what's included and send it first time or remove it from the menu !
Others mentioned the roasties too but happy with their beef. Deserts were average, sticky toffee pudding not great and again one dish came with something other than the menu stated.
Overall pretty disappointed that I chose to come here when there are other places locally that never fail to impress.
We paid in full and left as I wanted to leave an honest review of how it was. It's a shame nobody asked if we enjoyed it whilst we were there !
3 stars as Food was average at best.

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch today as a pre birthday meal. I have to say.our waitress Julie was excellent, perfect for the job with a very friendly bubbly personality, nothing was too much trouble to ensure the meal and all our needs were perfect. Well done
J. C.
We came for a 30th birthday and used the small side room with a table for 12. They were very accomodating allowing us to bring decorations and bringing out the cale we had brought. Food was really good and everyone in the group was happy with what they had. People particularly enjoyed the roasts. Staff were a little slow considering it was a quiet Sunday.
J. C.
My first the here.
Nice lighting gives a lovely ambiance, the fire was on and the sofa was comfy.
Had a burger. It was nice, however at just under £13 they may want to review their pricing strategy.
For a mid-December night it was empty.
S. M.
Lovely pub/restaurant. Driven past it many a time and never stopped before. Food looks lovely so will be dining here soon. Staff very friendly and chatty. Beautiful views from the garden too.
T. S.
Great food Good atmosphere
M. A.
Nice location. Good food. Friendly staff
J. M. i.
Soooooo good. Food excellent, staff so friendly. Can't wait to go back
A. M.
A warm welcome on entering and immediately felt at home. Quiet time of day but everyone there very friendly. Had an excellent pint from Nobby's Brewery and enjoyed some well cooked food. Will visit again.
D. P.
A mother's day booking.
We've visited The Swan several times before and really enjoyed it however on this visit we were badly let down.
We only ordered five main courses one of which was a child's hamburger.
The gammon arrived only just warm and was sent back and when returned the egg on top confirmed it had been microwaved. The staff member did offer a fresh egg. The grilled chicken was quite dry as was the children's burger. The gnocchi dish was just 'ok' although the garlic flatbread never arrived and the beer battered cod and 'gastro chips' were just... well... fish and chips and no more (lemon wedge missing)
A small plate arrived late with two bits of bacon on that was meant for the chicken and bacon salad.
For a mothering Sunday it wasn't even busy.
The staff were the best part of the meal, very friendly and attentive. The food was a big let down so much so I think it will be our last visit.
Disappointing
R. F.
Great staff. Good friendly staff. Good food and beautifully kept garden area.
A. B.
Great starter definitely get the Camembert! However when they read the specials, pie of the day, they said it was a chicken and leak pie, I was horrified when I cut into and it had ham in. There was no mention of other meats and it was really embarrassing I just had to eat around it as I didn't want to make a fuss on a date. I don't eat pork for religious reasons and I can't imagine other people enjoying that either. Should definitely specify all meats when listing specials. It was a nice place though
A. C.
Lovely food, benefited from the percentage off (eat put to help out) staff friendly and helpful, toilets clean. Everyone loved their food and nice setting, thankyou x
D. B.
Good food, and friendly staff, in all a very good country pub with all you would expect at such..
D. G.
Lovely welcoming staff, beautiful big garden, well organised Covid safe , Our Chicken and ham Pie was excellent I think it was home made with lovely shortcrust pastry that melted in the mouth!
H. F.
Very pretty setting with a garden to sit out in and make the most of. The inside was well styled. Staff was very polite and service was quick. Food was very good quality and good portion size (if anything too much!).
A. C.
Disappointing lunch as we were the only ones there apart from a waitress we could hardly understand. Half the items on menu were 'off ' so choice limited. Nice venue.
s. S.
Food was good and certainly not cheap but be careful of the bar prices. 1 lge glass of house white & a pint of cider was over £11. A glass of white could cost over £9.
L. G.
Very Friendly & Welcoming Staff, lovely & clean. Although chef needs to learn the menu, ordered 2 mains & 2 desserts, all came out differently to what was described on the menu.
G. R.
5yrs ago this was a stunning michelin quality.. Its got a few floors now... Cost doesn't fully equate... No steak knife for a duck piece very tastey but tough
m. C.
The service was excellent and the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an enjoyable meal out.
R. M.
First time here for years. A very varied menu covering most palates. The food was well cooked and plentiful. Service good and friendly.
C. G.
Beautiful Sunday lunch! Really friendly and helpful staff as well.
S. A.
Nice garden and the sunset was amazing
N. F.
This place still makes a welcoming refreshment stop on my bike rides, but it feels a bit pricey now.
D. L.
On a busy evening the staff took time to make sure we enjoyed our drinks and bar food. Ambiance was unhurried and elegant. All the customers were enjoying the food and the attention.
A. P.
Nice fire burning cosy and warm atmosphere good meals.
n. k.
Lovely staff and food
C. B.
It was ok about sums it up 🤷 food edible and staff nice 👍
L. G.
Great service, however the food left something to be desired. We had the Sunday roast, the meat was tough and the veg closer to raw than cooked.
R. S.
Lovely afternoon in nice surroundings. Staff friendly, food and drinks appetising. Nice to sit out in the garden which is well hidden from the road at the front. Plenty of parking and good disabled access.
W. P.
Just had an lovely father's day meal with my family. Excellent spacious restaurant serving very good food with a good atmosphere to complement.

C. H.
Lovely meal, friendly staff. Great lunch.
S. O.
Did not eat so can't comment on food. The ambience on the other hand not very cosy as should be deserving of a traditional country pub. A bit too impersonal for me.
J. W.
Fabulous food, great service by friendly helpful and cheerful staff. Not cheap pub food, just great grub and great value.
G. H.
The service was perfect, attentive without being intrusive and the food was delicious
C. P.

Let down a bit by slow and disjointed service.
S. M.
Really liked this pub.
Went with the family on a wet and windy Easter Monday, and found a welcoming pub, with good food, and very nice people.
A real find.
G. F.
Food is great, waitress was really attentive. One star deducted because half of the items on the menu seemed to be unavailable/ran-out
A. R.
Delicious ceasar salad, heavily laden with chicken, bacon, shaved parmesan cheese and anchovies. Truly good but the croutons looked like they came out of a packet.
J. g.
Lovely evening mid-week dinner, great food and service. Social distancing measures in place. We will be back.

It is a really nice place, but you will need to make sure you have plenty of money, or plastic cards as it can be a little over prices, but you do have plenty of food on your plate.
