Reviews of Maule Collective
P. H.
I didn't understand what was going on as I am far too old, but everyone seemed to be having fun and I enjoyed my beer. The bar staff take their jobs seriously and so the drinks are made and served perfectly.
D. C.
I had a 1 hour wait until my train arrived. Instead of waiting on the platform I thought I would take a tootle around the city centre. It was coming up to flat white time, so I thought I would seek out an artisan coffee shop. I found something odd on my meander. It was 11am and I couldn't find a single Independent artisan coffee shop. Sure, the big girls like Starbucks and Costa were around, the outside seating flooded with people, but where were the independents hiding?
I turned a corner and was immediately captivated by the beautiful elegance of Maule Collective. I took a closer look. It specialises in craft beers. A good sign, I thought. Maybe, just maybe they take an interest in coffee crafting too. After quizzing the staff member, I was right. They had artisan coffee, and yes, dairy alternative milk too. Thank you, you lovely environmentally considerate people! I began chatting to the regulars sat outside on the benches. A lot can be said about a place, by the customers that frequent it. Lovely, lovely people.
The doors to the Maule Collective opened at 12:00pm on the Sunday. The flat white was poured with care and I loved every last drop of it. I made a beeline for the train station. I ran to the platform where the train to Birmingham New Street was just about to leave. With Indiana Jones like deftness, I launched myself into the bike carriage. The doors closed. The train pulled away. I sat there, breathing heavily, feeling ecstatic. It must have been the caffeine hit from the Yellow Bourbon Coffee Roasters Costa Rican.

The focus is heavily on pales and IPAs, not my thing at all, but I really enjoyed my visit. I loved the almost 50s vibe and the Super session IPA was that juicy banger that all IPA fans dream about.

Huge selection of beers, a fresh looking bar with good atmosphere. Best bit for me though was gluten free beer on tap. And it was really good beer.
E. M.
Not a beer person at all, but that Maule Lucky beer is good enough to convert me. Ciders are really good and cocktails are fantastic, always clean and definitely worth the price
S. B.
We loved this place! The staff were lovely. Great selection of drinks! Only downside is the toilets weren't very nice.
K. C.
Not to crowded at time of visit on a Friday night reasonably priced drinks for a town centre bar 1st time visited would visit again.
S. H.
20 beers on tap with a small selection in the fridge. Lovely open space with a great atmosphere. Staff are always friendly and helpful. One of my favourite places to drink in Northampton
M. B.
ROTM Tap room. Usual fairly bland furniture but clean and not unfriendly.
Had a few prior to and after a show at the Royal and Deangate.
Particularly liked their own 'Zest for Life', 'Super' and '11 Mosaic' although the latter was slightly light on the hop.
Of the guests, Northern Monks 'Scafell was nice, Sirens Big Red Machine fair but the best had to be the Siren 'Feed the Fire', a 7.4abv West Coast offering.
Overall I'm not sure about Maule. There's nothing specifically 'bad' but it isn't spectacular either.
For beer tourists I'd have to say that £7 for a flight of 4 x 1/3 pint tasters is £2 too much. And £5 for a souvenir Festival half pint stem glass is just insulting - note, Vocation & Co (and similar) recognise the value of giving you one to take away...
Would I go back next time I visit Northampton?
Well yes of course, places like this need supporting - and not just by bearded hipsters. The trend will decrease in popularity at some point and that's when local loyalty will become important. Over to you drinkers of Northampton :-)
F.
Great selection of unique beers.

I've been to Maule a few more times since my first, so I figured it was time for an update.
It still remains the best place to get beer in the town centre. Only Beer Guerilla and Princess Alexandra come close, but they're further afield. Maule are consistently releasing new beers, it seems; the new(ish) oatmeal stout is delicious, for example! If it's your first time there, I'd recommend a paddle of four thirds (weird sentence) to sample a range of their own brews.
Their cocktails are next-level, but expensive. A recent espresso martini was the best cocktail I've had in town; far too easy to put away a few of them. It helps that they know their way around an espresso machine and use Yellow Bourbon beans. They even have speciality batch-brew beans with YB: Northampton craft independents assemble!
Overall, it's the best drinkery in the town centre but be prepared for prices that reflect that!

A great selection of beverages, fantastically knowledgeable staff and a friendly atmosphere. Many thanks.
M. W.
As always great beers. All so well organised. Great to see people back to doing normal things and really enjoying themselves.
S. P.
Knowledgable staff, gorgeous decor, best beer selection in N’town
L. G.
A good selection of tasty beers. The flights of four 1/3 pints were a really nice touch. Would have liked a choice of cask beer, as everything was keg.
D. M.
Great friendly atmosphere here. Dog friendly too! Lovely little garden out the back and benches out the front if you like to people watch while you have a drink. Nice selection of cocktails and we had hot drinks too, good coffee selection. Spacious and welcoming, child friendly.

2019: Great beer bar in the town with a great selection of craft beers from the taps
2022: Still the same 😁
J. M.
Lovely cocktails very chilled vibe and friendly staff. Will return
A. M.
Great vibes and beer (ask for vegan friendly) ✨
E. H.
Large selection of beers on tap and other alcoholic/soft drinks. Service is always very friendly.
M. C.
Staff were super friendly, knew their stuff and the selection was fantastic. Will definitely go again!
F. L.
One of the coolest places in Northampton!
Great beer and friendly stuff.
R. B.
Great choice of ales. Comfy seating also. Totally relaxed 👍
N. D.
V good range of craft beers, good location close to town centre
L. B.
Good beer, lovely venue and friendly staff. Wide range of beer, wine and cocktails available. Good seating and a garden as well
D. C.
Great place to meet friends good atmosphere, but drinks a bit expensive
R. T.
I love this place for the atmosphere, vibes and great beer! The place is always welcoming and the beer is cheap and cheerful and the staff are always happy to pour you a tasting glass if you want to try one or two of the beers! Plus, the jumpers and shirts are really comfortable!
J. D.
Love the Maule Collective. Best place for a relaxed beverage!
M. H.
Newly opened, they team at Maule love making their beers and have a good selection of their own and other local beers. Check them out if you get a chance
T. A.
Inviting industrial bar serving an extensive range of own and guest beers, as well as cocktails, soft drinks and coffee. Varying snack menu with excellent food served. The best bit about Maule is the team who run it though; as regulars we appreciate the friendliness and efficiency of the people, most recently as they managed Covid restrictions without resorting to impersonal ordering apps.
S. F. M.
Would highly recommend! Best bar in town!
M. D.
Popped in for the first time for a coffee and was very surprised. Lovely mocha! Selection of bar food was perfect, cakes and savorys. I went for a chicken and chorizo scotch egg, delicious. Large selection of craft beers, will have to go back one evening for a proper tasting. Friendly staff, highly recommended.
M. S.
Terrific selection of craft beers.
J. D.
we walked in to a great, lively atmosphere with a live Dj. The bar was a little busy but the wait times were minimal. The menu is displayed very well on the wall directly behind the 15-20 taps they have. This is a craft ale place, not one for actual ale drinkers.. More for people who wear things ironically and have top knots with a lot of disposable money, so at 11pm my choice was kinda limited to coffee but it was bloody good coffee! I questioned the bar staff about the liqueurs they had and although the cocktail menu was limited, they said they'd happily make any cocktail they could with the vast supply they had, all for the same standard rate as their other cocktails.. £8.
M. B.
Right up my street! If only I didn't have to travel into town to visit. Great selection of ales and great atmosphere.
A. C.
A decent spot! Relaxed and friendly staff, good beer selection and a minimalist, chilled vibe.
L. G.
An excellent few hours spent at the Maule Collective, fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, gorgeous beers. Always look forward to going back there. Thank you.
P.
Great place to go for a social drink with friends. They serve their own beer here, which is a delicious craft beer in many varieties. The staff are friendly and an added bonus is they serve classic cocktails and also make these very well. Worth a visit and great to have somewhere like this in the town centre.
M. A. S.
Newly opened bar from Maule brewery offering nice variety of their produce as well as number of guest beers. All kept in the very modern, industrial style. Well worth a try. Will be definitely visiting more often.
M. B.

K. M.
Industrial chic micro brewery bar with great local alez and stouts. Cool music and relaxed, dog friendly ambience. Pop up Veggie Thai Food kitchen some days.
T.
Fantastic choice of beer and friendly staff, will definitely return
G. W.
Okay. Nice chilled out place. Disappointed in seeing my orange juice being poured from a Tesco Orange Juice bottle and then into a regular glass only to be charged a very high fee. Other than that staff seem pleasant and the atmos seems very chilled out.
M. S.
Great place, great beer, much needed location in Northampton
B. S.
Went here for a Friday evening, a great selection of drinks to choose from, it did get pretty busy, which was nice, added to the atmosphere. We all enjoyed the different types drinks that they did.
C. d. H.
This was my first visit to this venue. The atmosphere felt OK but I suspect it all new and fresh and needs to 'bed in'. They seem to do a good offer on their own beers but they're mainly pilsners and IPAs at this point, not really my thing, Christiaan :-) :-)
T. W.
Fantastic. Great beer, really relaxed - Loved it and will definitely be back
M. M.
Really nice mix of people and a great selection of craft beer and ciders. Really nice atmosphere and decoration, great to be able to sample the beers and then enjoy them in a warm and friendly modern surrounding.
D. D.
Great selection of craft beers all brewed 'in house'. Selection of cocktails and soft drinks available. Trendy post industrial aesthetic.
M. D.
Friendly bar staff and a great selection of cocktails / beers.
8.5 on the litty scale.
L. C.
Great place to have a drink before and after my visit to the theatre, amazing home independent beers. Good friendly staff. Definitely coming here again 5 star
D. M.
With respect to a town at the centre of a lot of the nation's history, Maule Collective deserves better than Northampton. It really is a beer haven. They have the great & good of UK Brewing on as guest (Wylam, Kernel, etc) but their own beers shine above and beyond. As a tap room it's immaculate but if it was located in anywhere like Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds, it would be lauded as a must visit. The brewers know their stuff and it would be lovely to see them recognised beyond Northamptonshire.
Worth a train jaunt from London or Birmingham for a very heavy sesh.
p. m.
Craft ale bar with Maule brewery ales and guest beers from other breweries. Beer isn't cheap but you get what you pay for. Very similar to Brew Dog bars. Had a very tasty Porter and IPA.
R.
Lovely little gem of a tap house.
Great selection of beers, friendly knowledgable staff and a chilled vibe.
I just wish they did food!
K. L.
Always great service, great beers and drinks. Atmosphere and clinetell is good. 5 star rating. Love the merchandise too
M. M.
This was my first visit and I was impressed. The DJ was playing very cool music so grooving abound. Drinks were in the pricier side - probably to keep out the riff raff elements.
D. P.
Great choice of beers, and great coffee from Yellow Bourbon. Though I would of liked a bit more choice of food. Loved the veggie scotch egg though.
S. M.
Really enjoyed a Friday evening drink here.
Buzzing place.
Good-ish decor.
Beer was great - I had the stout.
Really good
A. W.
We visited with a group of friends, as they love craft ales and beers, lovely little place, i had cider as i dont drink beer and the couple of designated drivers had lovely looking hot chocolates, really enjoyed ourselfs
K. B.
Expensive but good. Some issues with prices and opening night was way too busy for me, but the service is good and the atmosphere is too. People do however need to learn how to use toilets - it is possible to not hit the seat even when rat arsed ;-)
W. D.
Great atmosphere, great array of drinks. 🍺🍺🍺
M. N.
