D. W.Very good service - polite and attentive staff, food average. I had the mixed grill my son had an 8oz steak, - off the adults menu before you ask!
S. T.Delicious food and good value. I had the mushroom and ale pie, which had beautifully crisp pastry and a tasty filling although I'd have liked a few more mushrooms. Service was good and the staff very friendly. Also dog friendly.
B.Nothing was too much trouble, my wife kept asking for more gravy and the waiter kept bringing it. The sunday dinner was so good. I had the veg wellington which was the best ever. I left a big tip because we were looked after and the chef cares about what he sends out to the table. Book online using the website if they say they are full, you can get a table sometimes.

The staff looked after us all night and couldn’t do enough for us.
There was a quiz on, it started whilst we were eating so we didn’t join in.
However we moved into the bar area after we finished and caught the second half.
We shall be back next week as the quiz questions were not too taxing and it looked like a lot of fun.
All in all, a very good night, excellent food and service.

G. M.A very nice place. As it's under a large brewery the menu is largely as it would be in a number of their other pubs, which has the advantage of decent quality at reasonable prices. What makes a visit worth while is the extremely nice setting, staff and building. I hope to visit again soon.

S.We can never fault these guys, today we visited with our 4 year old and we felt welcome from the start, the staff treated her like a real person and even catered for a special pudding request without hesitation. The food is always so good and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. This has been our go-to for celebratory meals since our first date in 2004 and will continue to be for many years to come I'm sure!

J. T.The service provided by the staff was beyond expectations. I accidentally left an important item in a napkin which was thrown away when the table was cleared. Once I explained this to the staff with no hesitation they spent 30 minutes searching the bins for me and found the item! They make me feel like it was no trouble at all and I can’t thank them enough for the friendly service they provided! The food and drinks were excellent as well! Will definitely visit again! M. B.I've visited the Spencers Arms a few times over the years and really enjoyed it, however we went for a birthday meal recently and the service wasn't great. Staff were friendly enough, but they all seemed distracted.
Staff were on point with drinks, however we had to wait 40 minutes for starters and by the time they came, the Korean chicken strips were stone cold, like they had been left sitting under a warming lamp for the last 15 minutes, however they tasted great and presentation was nice. The main course then took another 35 minutes to arrive. The pub wasn't busy to be honest. Our party of 6, a couple having dinner and another party of 4. There was a few other people just having drinks. It was quiet night.
We were going to order deserts, however the service had been so slow we decided not to bother. Sorry guys, your usually really good, but it was a bit of a let down. Also the tables didn't feel clean and the wall we were set next too had food/gravy smeared all over it. We live 35 minutes away from this pub, but it was one of the party members favourite places to eat, but after this last visit, it will be a while before we decide to visit again. Sorry guys.

We've visited many times over the years and it's always been tasty food.
We came on Saturday night for a rare date night away from our young family as we had some clubcard vouchers to use and its quite local to us.
My husband really enjoyed the Korean chicken starter, the burger in his words was nice (but not amazing) and it was a rare treat for me to enjoy a refreshing cider on tap instead of being on bedtime duty. I ordered from the specials menu - chicken livers and duck (requested be served pink), but unfortunately the liver was a bit dry like it was overcooked (it should be really tender) and the duck was well done, not pink and a bit dry. Perhaps I should have stuck to the main menu....
It also took quite a long time for our mains despite it not looking busy.
The waiting staff and lady on front of house were friendly and helpful (and apologetic for our table not being ready on arrival), but the food wasn't to its usual standard. We were also a bit hidden away in tired looking corner at the back, which wasn't as nice as the main restaurant area.
We had to rush off after our main and miss dessert due to childcare issues and the staff were very sympathetic and hurried our bill and offered to give us dessert to take away, which would have been nice, but unfortunately we couldn't wait around as our baby daughter was hysterical at home.
Usually the food is better- I appreciate there might have been staff shortages or something, but I would have felt really let down paying full price compared to the normal quality there.
Hopefully it's a blip as we've always enjoyed the meals at the Spencer Arms.

j. w.A small over Sight by staff spoilt the evening. The annoying thing was that a member of staff actually pointed out to us that they should have done something about it. It was a pity because the food and service was excellent. Unfortunately we got seated very closely to a very lively family. Had I been in wetherspoons it would have been easier to accept. However this was a country pub which we anticipated would be ideal for a quiet meal for two. It was anything but. The problem we had is it would have been very embarrassing for us and the family had we requested a move to another table. So unfortunately we had to sit through all of their very animated stories and games of scissors paper stone. By the end of the evening my ears where ringing and my wife was covering her ears up. It should have been a lovely evening but unfortunately we left feeling very frustrated

Both friends said soup was delicious but it would have been nice to have it the classic way with a crouton floating on top or maybe with some rustic bread rather than the sliced bread that came with it
My mushrooms were tasty but the crumpet they were served on looked really sad and squashed
I had the Hake and chowder for main which was delicious
Husband and friends had burger which was ok nothing special
And 2 pies one of each flavour both I was told were delicious
We had coffee and mini puds all were really lovely
We had a really good meal in a nice cosy atmosphere the staff were friendly and attentive we look forward to returning

The down side was that the man in charge was dressed very casually, and there was definitely dust around the edges of the eating area.

C. H.Had an excellent lunch (14 th. OCT 2020) We selected from the Special's menu. 10oz Ribeye beautifully cooked medium rare with a large glass of cab Sauv. A seafood grill of hake, salmon and king prawns with a chilled glass of Giotto Pinot Grigio for my wife. We have used the Spencer Arms for over 50 years but not for sometime as the standards did vary. I really could not fault the present team, our waiters Lara & Jack were very pleasant the food & drink 5 star, we will be back very soon!

R. E.Went for a weekly catch up with family where we usually order some food outside of the restaurant section, been doing this for the last 10 years as we live in Chapel Brampton. Disappointed to learn the bar staff were refusing this service under authority from the chef as they were "too busy" even though there were 5-6 tables free in restaurant alone for the last 2 hours, couple ordered just before us who were sitting opposite us in the "bar area" and were happily served their food infront of us. Didn't appear to have any management so would assume the chef decided to take the night off and not give a f***. Such a shame to be given this kind of service after being a patron for 10 years.

j. p.Usually very good pub & food. Staff very pleasant but a couple of things disappointed my last visit last night. My partner wished to have triple cooked chips instead of fries. They were not available. She had sweet potato chips instead. Yet, myself and my other two guests had chips with our food !!?? Why wasn't that option given to my partner?
Secondly, I ordered a blackberry and apple crumble pie with custard. The pie came on a small plate with a napkin UNDER the pie? Why?..... I had to manoeuvre the napkin out from underneath the pie before putting the minute amount of piping hot custard, the container of which had no handle and burnt my fingers, over the pie, which by the way contain 95% crumble to 5% fruit. Very poor.

s. W. (.The Spencer arms can be a bit hit and miss depending on the manager. I've been a few times and my last visit, just after Christmas and before new years, was exceptional. We were celebrating a birthday and had a toddler. Though it was busy, the food was gorgeous, the staff were incredible and very accommodating. A few things had ran out from their menu but this didn't dampen the experience. Ps: would highly recommend ringing ahead to book a table rather than just turning up.

G.A bit disappointed, as we have been lots of times and really enjoyed until today, arrived 1pm on sun (party of 5) and previously had extensive menu but this time it was the reduced sun menu, we asked for starter sharing dishes from extensive menu( which we have had previously) which was served, but seemed to be alot smaller than previous visits!. then ordered fillet steak on sun menu and they had run out at 1pm?. so ordered ribeye which was quite tough. 25 minute wait for puddings, Service was not as good as previous visits.

J. M.Busy pub with limited seating in bar area but can sit in restaurant area of space free. Quite a cold pub with a nasty draft coming from the non existent door towards the toilets . Good selection of drinks;priced fairly. Not keen on the food as the few times I have a ten there has been some sort of issue with my food choices .

M. C.OK, can use Tesco vouchers, 3 for 1 now instead of 4 for 1 that it used to be. Used to be able to use vouchers on deals too, but not any more. Overall, prices have increased slightly as well. Cost of drinks is really high, small bottle of sparkling water £3-85 Pint of Guiness £4-10, bottle of Prosecco £17-99. Food was reasonable, but nothing to write home about. Just had 3 courses each for 8 family members + drinks for a little over £300- A few years back It would have been 4 stars, only 3 now.

F.My wife is going for a meal THERE let you know if she liked it tomorrow my wife said it was a really nice meal and said she would not hesitate to go back there 10 out of 10 from my wife,yes my wife said it was REALLY GOOD AND WILL DEFINITELY RETURN SAID THE FOOD WAS GREAT,we now go to this pub at least twice on Saturday out of each month,, when our daughter has finished her horse riding lessons at brampton riding school and we have a excellent meal every time cannot fault this pub in any way staff ,food,atmosphere are always spot on best food I've had in a pub anywhere near where we live for a long long time defenatly would recommend
