Stunning thatched public house, situated in picturesque village on the Eastern side of Northampton. I met with a friend for lunch here, the staff are welcoming and helpful. The meal I had was typical pub grub, scampi and chips, the chips were very good, the scampi a little over done, but better than underdone. No complaints, loved the whole ambiance and experience.

Just moved into the village and decided to come here for drinks and food beforehand to check out our new local. Food was amazing and the environment is lovely. Their beer garden is a lovely family friendly environment. The food portions were very generous and food was delicious. Staff are friendly and happy to have a laugh with. 10/10. So glad this is our new local! Update: we have now lived in the village nearly a year and come here a few times a week. Staff are brilliant, always friendly, know our drink order and food is always good. Never had any problems here and the weekly quiz on a Thursday is loads of fun. The locals are welcoming and always up for a chat.

Always had nothing less than a fantastic time here, even before the restrictions, the staff are always extremely friendly and polite, plus they've managed to carry that over even though dealing with gov restrictions/limitations currently. *edit* Since the original review, now that all restrictions are gone, if anything it's only gotten better, the recent-ish update to the outside dining area is amazing, fully covered with heaters too means can dine outside in comfort whatever the weather. Plus the revamped garden/kids play area is a great addition too.

Nice staff, great venue and I've had some good food here. However, they only have two real ales on, doombar and Phipps IPA. Obviously Phipps is a classic but I wish they had more pumps with more variety. Some craft beers would be good too. Sort that out and it would it would be on an equal par to the Three Horseshoes in Ecton.

Really amazing, honest menu... exceeded expectations andcan I say honestly, the staff that hosted were truly amazing, the lady who served us was truly a breath of fresh air. Never do this reviewing thing but we thought it only right as we’ve been here three times this week. Took the kids as they wanted to try out the new playground and they loved it so we had to go back with them again. Now we’ve got one more place for the summer holidays. We went back with friends in the evening for a meal and I really enjoyed the food. The young girls serving us were delightful and nothing was too much trouble. We had to wait a bit for the food but it was busy and well worth it. Added bonus we can walk to it so we will definitely be returning.

We visited on a wet bank holiday Monday, the weather didn’t stop the food or service being fantastic and the heaters and blankets kept us nice and cosy. This is a great village pub and would definitely recommend visiting.

Went in the sunshine to the new playground with kids and family. Didn't realise this was here. What a great place. A proper old pub with wooden panels no pastel grays etc and great staff. Food was amazingly good value and lots of it. So different from the big pubs and microwave stuff. Food was homemade and the Gins were good too. My Grandad enjoyed the real ales especially his favourite Hob Goblin. As Arnie would say well be back!!

Pleasant evening out. Nice local pub. Wasn't expecting entertainment but it was good to have live music. In previous visits I have experienced quiz nights which I have enjoyed. Food and service were good. All staff were helpful, friendly and pleasant. Good menu for a local pub.

Great local pub in the classic British style. Great range of beers, wines ok ( so says my partner). Well above average pub food, at a good price, with special deals if your cute enough to to take advantage. Nice for couples, not over indulgent. Quizzes on Thursday and Sunday evening 8.30 onwards.

Turned up unannounced for a Sunday Lunch without booking or making any kind of reservations on a busy weekend. She found us a lovely table and time to suit us. When we got in and ate, it was gorgeous, might be one of the nicest Sunday lunches I have ever had! we have become regulars for meals in the evenings! would recommend.

I ordered the vegetarian option for sunday roast, but was not expecting just potatoes veg and Yorkshire pudding 😢😢 I paid the same as everyone else in my group, yet they all had meat. This isn't a vegetarian dish, it was a sunday roast with no meat, so felt a bit cheated as if I had known I would have ordered something different. This place really needs to look at this as there are many vegetarians looking for options, I mean I could have just given the meat to my husband !!!! Very disappointed and doubt we would return.

Very expensive and limited options on food on the day of my visit. :( Dear owner: I visited on a Sunday for which you're popular as far as other reviews are concerned and your personal opinion. Me personally I am vegetarian, and my mates who I came along with don't mind either. On the day there was only two food items offered to us along with a portion of chips. I regret writing my personal opinion but for between 4 of us, we ended up with no options on food except chicken and lamb with a portion of chips only. And other fact, in total for 13/14 pints, bowl of chips and 2 other dishes - we spent over a £150 at your place which I believe is too much for service not provided as expected. Is it expensive because you're based in a little village area or due to limited customers?? (Wasn't even an event day or bank holiday weekend) Why do the basics when there is so much possible according to menu? ** Was my 1st time and may be last as well. Hope your company has a 2nd thought about providing every possible menu item each business day. Money is not a problem, service matters against spending. Apology counts and inconvenience matters more. Think about it. Don't worry, I won't bad mouth your business. :) Thank you
