After walking the dogs we popped in for a drink and bite to eat. It was very busy but they managed to accommodate us. We had some burgers which were great.

Really lovely food in a fantastic environment (just avoid the purple potatoes). The staff are really friendly and certainly service with a smile, the place looks lovely with great decor. A wide selection of drinks, and a good looking menu. Loads of parking and an ideal location.

Big, tasty Sunday lunch. Good wine menu, not all in stock. Good IPA (local brews) Desserts need a bit of work but the chocolate "brownie" and ice cream is a staple.

Covid practices in place and very busy. However, service was attentive and food served without undue delay. Portion control was as you would expect from a pub of this style with matching prices. Will return in the future. I have regularly returned here more as a drinker than Diner. Although I have had lunch here twice on both occasions my guests and I have been happy. The staff are all helpful and engaging. The food I have witnessed being served is well presented and good portion control. A consistent experience and worth a visit! A recent meal with the same two guests was not as satisfying; the main and dessert for one was below parr and the cold coffee served to his partner was the other. All 3 points were brought to the attention of the serving staff. The old adage of find out if it is the Chefs day off still rings true before ordering! After frequent visits it remains popular for drinkers and diners alike .

My wife and I had lunch here. I ordered the sausage and mash, my wife ordered the pork belly. One of my sausages was burnt and the onion gravy tasted like it was bought from the cheaper end of the ranges available at the cash and carry. My wife's meal was good, but they forgot the carrots. I've visited the Red Lion many times over the years and have seen it be transformed from a simple village pub with an outstanding steak and stilton pie, to what is it today, a revamped cookie cutter modern bar and restaurant serving cookie cutter food. Nothing outstanding or bad. Just standard pub fayre. Like many of these places, there is massive potential to do something special, but why bother when you can make your money with risk free, solid but predictable fayre. I'm sure I'll be back again as they do a decent enough Sunday Lunch (although if the owners read this, your roast potatoes need work).

Lovely old Inn We sat out at the front of the pub on a lovely summer's evening and enjoyed a delicious meal. First time I've seen pork scratchings on a menu, but they were great with an accompaniment of apple sauce.

Having driven past many times, we decided to go here for a meal, post lockdown. I don't think I've eaten outside in April before, but the experience didn't disappoint. There were people sat just drinking on the grass area, and others were eating on the patio area. On the patio area, there are heaters to keep it warm, and we were even given blankets by the staff. The food was delicious and the staff were all friendly and engaging. No complaints at all.

Food is fantastic and there is a wide selection - roast is great and so are the burgers. The staff were really friendly and attentive. We sat out on the lawn area and was plenty of seating and space...though recommended you book in advance. I did think that there are a few too many tables crammed into the under cover area though so wouldn't have felt as comfortable there. And seems silly to have to walk through it all to go to the welcome desk. Would have been better to have that nearer the walkway from the car park. It would also be really good to have a print out with the menu (like the socials sheet) with what beer, larger and cider is on draught, given its table service only.

Great late lunch here on a very rainy and cold Saturday. The pub is really cosy and the staff are so nice. Drinks menu is excellent and food was all good, particularly the starters which were delicious. I will definitely be back.

My family chose the red lion to host a gathering for us all after the ease of lockdown restrictions. Being born and bred in the village, the red lion was chosen by my mother as the venue. The location itself is set just off the main road through the village and so is very easy to find. Staff were all well mannered, smartly presented and eager to make our visit memorable. The restaurant itself was clean and very well presented with facilities suiting our trio of children. Food was prepared promptly and was delicious. Overall a lovely experience and certainly made our first gathering after lockdown a special one. Thankyou to all the staff :)

Booked for my husband's 70th Birthday, the place was lovely the staff were really good 6 out of 7 meals were fine but the Birthday boys steak was really under par, it was so tough he left more than he eaten so I gave him some of my fish and chip which were fine , they did offer a couple of drinks on the house but it didn't really compensate for the not so perfect night, it hasn't put me off going again, so hopefully it will be better next tine

Wow! How much well kept outdoor space does thus pub have? Loads and loads and loads! The food has vastly improved since I last visited, the beer is great and the staff most pleasant. Definitely worth a visit but be warned - far from Wetherspoon prices!

We had to drive around Northamptonshire today trying to find a roast dinner, finally called The red lion as we had always heard it was nice. I haven't been in since I was 18-19 years old but was very nice back then so I called sat in layby to be advised they were fully booked until 7pm but will see what they can do. I told them about our awful experience so far and she went off and come back and said we can have a table in the bar area. By that time we were so hungry we just said yes and drove there. Pub has always looked nice but looks even better inside. The roast was fantastic!!!! I will say though I do think it's a bit over priced I know you pay for quality but have worked in many pubs who also deal with good quality foods so do think it was expensive but I will say it was one of the nicest roasts I've had for a long time, would defo eat here more often if they come down on price a bit but other than that a really nice roast and fantastic staff, lovely table service and food didn't take long at all so all round great experience, Would defo recommend.

The food is good and the pub itself is beautiful. Every time I go I find myself somewhat disappointed by the service however. It's not awful, but a bit slow and cold. Last time we went they had also run out of several menu items. The vegan burger there is really yummy. I would go again and recommend it.

Nice little pub in a nice setting. Food was a little underwhelming I went for the scotch eggs to start which were a little to spicy you could say this should have been expected as they were spicy scotch eggs however this overpowered any other flavours coming through. For main I went for the bone marrow beef burger which with the only flavour coming from the cheese and pickle. Tried some of the dishes from the other people I was with and found all were similar overpowered by one particular part of the dish. Prices however are reasonable and worked out around £25 a head for starters, mains and drinks. All of this said I would go back however it wouldn't be my first choice.

We were a table of six friends, we all arrived at the red lion and the car park is pretty much full which is a good indicator of the place being popular... and popular it is. Inside the Red Lion it is very homely country cottage with I touch of chic, all the staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. The food menu is compact but a very well thought out menu with some nice choices to suit most tastes... I went for the home made pie of the day which was chicken in a lovely golden puff pastry, quite a large portioned plate arrived to the table and I did my best to eat all but in the end it did beat me and I couldn't quite eat all. Other friends all chose steaks from the menu and they all arrived at the table just as they were asked for, a medium plus, a blue and three mediums.. in all, a great place to go as family or friends and will definitely be calling again.

I can't drink normal milk and it was the first time ever a restaurant/ bar did not have it. The waiter did apologised and said the manager was aware and will from now make sure the have alternative. Great menu that updates about four times a year, and a loyalty card scheme that is genuinely useful (6 meals and get one main free). Great selection of beers and gin, and very good seafood (scallops, prawns, crayfish, sea bream).

Love this establishment, with its super friendly staff and clean and contemporary decor. There is a large carpark and plenty of outside seating, as well as plenty of indoor seating. Our two lunches consisted of Glamorgan Sausages (vegetarian) in which the sausages are amazing and the second dish was Fishfinger Sandwiches which were made of real fish chunks and covered in a deliciously crispy light batter. Despite a power cut, the quick table service was great as we only had one hour for lunch. The ladies toilet facilities have a small carpeted area with a table and a couple of chairs - a real rest room!

We stopped off at The Red Lion for an early meal on our way up the A428 to a later Northampton Filmhouse showing. We must have driven past many, many times and never called in. This time we booked a table & did it properly. Nice food and good beer selection, which seemed to be well kept, from what I tried. The service was very good indeed and when we had an issue with one of the mains, it was dealt with speedily and effectively. A substitute dish was provided and we weren't charged. The young lady serving us did a great job. The pub is nicely decorated inside and the whole place is a good balance between modern and olde worlde pub decor. Pretty welcoming. Clean toilets. Plenty of parking! All in all a good experience and we would eat here again, certainly. We can recommend the Red Lion.

Lovely pub, lovely attentive staff and excellent chef. Not the cheapest place around by well worth the money, it's not ordinary pub grub is excellently cooked. The steak was a quality piece of meat, I think it was bigger than 10 Oz . Lamb casserole was lovely too.

Lovely Sunday lunch. Oodles of quaint country pub cuteness. Massive portions, you won't go hungry. Choose the roast of your choice including veg, gravy, and Yorkshire the size of a small boat so bring your appetite. Loads of other options if you don't do a traditional roast. Gorgeous restaurant, good selection of meals, starters and drinks. Food was amazing. I had the arrabbiata, with the saúted king prawns. The meal was delicious, pasta cooked Al denté, sauce was light and subtle, and the King prawns were done incredibly well - a real tasty well rounded meal. My meal costed just under £17 with a pint of Pepsi Max. Timings were a little long, from ordering it took ~40 minutes to start devouring. Drinks were better but still a good 10-15 mins. Pros: Good friendly service God damn delicious food, best in a while Quaint, cosy. Cons: Long time to wait for food Was sorta ignored while bills were served to others. The table booked was a little cramped.

Been a hundred times, it's quite fancy without being pretentious; service is decent, dinner and pudding more than a match for the fancy promise; smoking area has an unusually easy to execute top of the head burner if you're the kind of sophisticate that enjoys a cigarette between courses. So listen, if I keep going back over a period of probs what, 8 years(?), must have to be pretty good isn't it?

We have been supportive fans of the Red Lion for many years but yesterday we were disappointed. Excellent service, but niggly things let us down. The scallops were excellent but very poor value. Liberal use of undisclosed chilli was unhelpful. I like lentils but I had too much of a good thing. We will think twice before making our next table booking.

As a Chef I'm very particular about where and what I eat, this place is a must, the food is freshly prepared and is exellent. Also a small range of Real Ale is available which suits my taste. I would certainly recommend this venue.

The food was ok however some of the dishes came out differently than as described on the menu which we were not told about on ordering. I and my son had fish and chips, the kids meal came with bigger portions of chips due to the adults portions being served in mini fryer baskets! Almost all of the dishes were served on boards or slates, what's wrong with a plate?
