Saturday Night in Hardingstone After just turning up with no booking the staff were very accommodating, squeezing in the 2 of us. We decided on burgers, after eating thought they were expensive for what they were ,when compared to somewhere like the smoke pit That are far better but cheaper. Dessert was really nice 👌🏼 But an enjoyable stay , and the staff were friendly and very attentive.

Nice little pub with lovely decorations. We had Sunday roast here. Food portion is quite small. Roast pork only has a couple of thin slices of pork. The carrot was not properly cooked. The Yorkshire pudding is quite nice. Burger looks nice. Desserts and hot drinks are nice. Friendly staff and one of our food was delayed as they missed the order.

Welcoming staff and great food. Dog friendly so we will be returning. Food portions are just right the the Cajun Chicken burgers were amazing.

Came here for after a christening to celebrate. Could not have asked for a better place. Bar is quite large as us the garden to the rear that has an area fir kids to play. It also has a small function room with its own bar. Price wise compares to any other pub in the area. Kit also serves food which from what I saw looked good value for money. Only down side is parking can be hard to find outside the pub but it can be found if you look hard enough.

Went there for a lunch so the night pub crowd was not there. Sufficient space was available for us to choose from. The outside sitting is nice with a good garden and playing area for kids. Food was also nice but had only traditional English options.

A great village pub in Hardingstone village. The sun is an old building but has a small function room attached. The garden is also deseptive it is large with a children's play area at the rear safely away from the road. Nice place to eat drink and to bring children.

We were staying at a local hotel and decided to go out for lunch. We looked on the map and spotted the Sun Inn. What a good choice! The food was beautifully presented and tasted equally good. I have a gluten intolerance and there was a great amount of choice on the menu which is great as often pubs only offer 1 or 2 options. I had the salmon and it was lovely, my husband had the pulled pork special and he loved that too. Alfie (Alethea) who served us was really friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend!

I was pretty surprised about the Sun Inn. Nice place,good food,it was pretty busy on Sunday,but no problems and there was also a nice play area for my two grandchildren. Who enjoyed the play area.I Would definitely return to the Sun Inn. Nice one :)

Wasn't as nice first time

In a word SUPERB. The service was excellent as was the greeting. The food was delicious and extremely moreish. Jess our waitress couldn't have done more for us, she is a little angel, even though we had a boisterous 14 week puppy with us, Jess was wonderful, but so we're the rest of the in house team. I genuinely and totally recommend this place to dine out at, I promise you won't be disappointed. 5 Stars and more.

What a fantastic experience, the service was fantastic, quick and friendly. The waiting staff were so attentive and showed a genuine passion for their job. The food came quickly and was worth every penny. The outside facilities were covered with parasols in case of rain and there were effective heaters to keep you warm. I loved my evening here and 3 hours for food and drinks was more than enough as between being sat, drinks and food ordered and it being on the table we were only there 30 minutes before we had our food despite a full restaurant! Brilliant experience and will certainly be recommending and returning.

Lovely pub. We came for a celebration and the front of house staff were good. We asked if we could order some pasta for my 3 year old. We were told that food stops at 6pm. Strange, but fine. However it was 5:55. Then when the waitress asked the chef she was told that all of the equipment was off so no. You know it's badly run when the chefs decide when to close.

Bad bits - Upon arrival, young lad greeted us but then walked off leaving us waiting for someone else to show us to our table. - Yorkshire puddings were like charcoal, crumbled apart with no taste. - No wheelchair access, which meant us lifting and lowering down the steps. - Young lad cleared half the table then needed prompting to clear the rest 15 minutes later (wasn't busy at all) Good bits - Fantastic portion sizes. - Meat was so tender. - Nice atmosphere. - Brilliant play area for the kids.

What a fantastic turnaround from 3 years ago. The pub now has beautiful food and very professional and very pleasant staff, so helpful. Had a roast today, it was beautiful and the beef and vegetables were done to perfection.

Service was really good, really nice table under cover with a heater. The food we had was very good quality and tasted great. One star off however, as we had to sit with smokers which i cant really understand given the size of the garden.

I love this pub! The decor is beautiful and it has such a cosy atmosphere. Great beer selection, lovely service and the food was really good. We had the caesar salad and the triple roast dinner, both were delicious! We will definitely be back.

We eat and drink here regularly. It’s lovely cosy and sometimes lively pub. Good food, and the staff are always friendly and quick to serve. This year we had our Christmas party here. The landlord, Andy was so helpful and patient with my ever changing needs. The buffet provided was fantastic. We’ve never had such good finger food left over at the end. There was so much of it and it kept coming out. Thanks Andy and staff.

Went on a very busy Bank Holiday Sunday. Garden/patio was packed but despite being really busy the quality standards of the pub were kept high. The food and drinks were both excellent and the staff were cheerful and helpful - despite it being a hot busy day for them.

Been going regularly for 4 years. Bar staff are poorly trained and staff turnover is very high so getting served is slow and frustrating. Food quality has been generally good but two recent meals have been very bad - chicken Maryland and lightly curried cod.

In Hardingstone one of the best wine and dine place to hang out. Beautiful quick walk to this place with long stretch of greenery. The entry give a feel of old fairy tale pub.. in the backyard is sunny bright few tables arranged and kids play zone. Food is excellent but Sundays take sometime to get served. But definite not to miss for get together with families, friends, couples, kids best for all. Place is awesome.

So we booked a table which was pretry easy, the pub was nice and welcoming and decorated nicely. There was a function going on out the back and so there was live music, this was not part of the put but I didn't find the music intrusive. There is not much direction as to how to order food we were not sure if to go to the bar or a someone would come to take out order, we decided to order at the bar. Once food was ordered it took around 45 mins for our starters to arrive. We sat chatting and realise our food seemed to be taking ages, we knew the staff might be busy with the function so we left it anouter 5 minutes, the food came in this time. We ordered 2x calamari, 1 camembare and nachos. The camembare was a good quality and we recieved a good amount of toasted bread. It was a little charred on the top so a little over done. The calamari was undercooked and rubbery. This was served with a small salad and mayo. The nachos was the most disappointing. Whilst the sauces was plentiful, the nachos were just tortilla wraps deep fried and cheese thrown on top of it carelesley. They were also excessively overcooked. . We did not compalin as it took so long to receive it so we ate it. Mains were OK and came out in a timely manner compared to our starters. Our table ordered scampi and chips, fish and chips, small sausage and mash, pork belly and seabass. The mushy peas which came with the sausage and mash and the fish and chips were dry and inedable, they were not eaten. The mash seemed to be tasteless and we have a sneaky suspicion that this was the powdered mash substitute. The pork belly was over done and dry and and really was not enough to fill a person. The scampi was fine and the two people who ordered enjoyed thier meal. The sea bass was also quite nice and cooked reasonably well. Could have done with an additional veg to make it more filling. For me this place has just scraped 3 stars because there were some aspects of the meal which were enjoyable and because the people were pleasent who were behind the bar. I felt the dinner service seriously lacking in customer service and there was no one who checked to see if our meal was satisfactory. I was disappointed with the Sun Inn especially because I know it to have exceptional standards and people still talk about it 20 years after visiting it first time. Perhaps they were busy but I think they should have compensated with additional staff.

Staff are very welcoming and unlike other pub's as a stranger walking in you don't get the stare from the locals, making you feel like you shouldn't be there. Only downside parking is very restrictive due to residents parking and double yellow lines, worth trying to find a space park.

An excellent pub that serves a wide selection of high-quality food, and a decent rotation of specials. Drinks are good and are not silly prices, although there are certainly cheaper places in Northampton. Atmosphere is always good and the pub is usually busy. The regular quiz on a Thursday routinely packs out the pub and is usually an excellent evening.

The Sun was recently renovated so I figured my review could do with the same treatment. The inside is definitely brighter and newer but not necessarily better per se. It's less old-timey and more gastropubby. Your mileage may vary! As ever there's a good selection of real ales on tap and a well-stocked gin bar. The food menu has been re-styled if not re-imagined. The vegan options barely exist, which is a huge disappointment given the recent revamp and its closeness to Veganuary. I had a BBQ jackfruit bun with fries, although the bun contained milk or egg so I had to have a gluten-free option. I'm also not convinced - despite being told on the phone - that the Sriracha mayo is suitable. Excellent fries, though. All things considered, it's the same old Sun Inn. I doubt that a supernova is on the horizon but don't rush here! Management: get with the times on plant-based alternatives and give your staff a disposition to match the pub's name!
