Thank you SO much for your delicious food at lunch time today - excellent service from everyone and a huge special thank you to the chef who went out of his way to cater for my coeliac son! I forgot to take photos but he loved his lunch so much and it DOES make a difference that he could have a great chicken burger and chips instead of something he didn’t really fancy - especially as his friends were having burgers!
Thank you again, you have no idea how much difference it makes when it’s your child’s health and happiness and feeling they “fit in” 🥰

Great canalside pub with Cask Ales and good pub food
Ideal for me as a Liveaboard narrowboat owner with full sun pub moorings
Z. H.
Really nice pub. Had fish and chips and it was lovely. The staff was friendly as well.

Visited The Wharf on a Monday afternoon whilst cruising along the canal. Good food, good value and friendly staff. A real delight after doing the locks earlier in the day.
M. H.
Dog friendly and very nice people. Good garden onto the canal, so great for boaters. We didn't have time to sample the food.
J. S.
Very friendly, enthusiastic team. Seemed like a new menu since our last visit. We had halloumi sandwich, vegan burger, pasta with chorizo, and Caesar salad. All very tasty, with perfect fries.
Odd missing ingredients, like anchovies, and some mocktail syrups - apparently supply problems.

A birthday lunch on a friday afternoon lunch for my mum. Firstly, i want to say that the food was good and we loved how dog friendly they were. Would go again, hopefully when weather is nice and we can sit outside. However, as we love a nice drink with food, we ordered prosecco based cocktails. Which tasted absolutely awful. Sent these back and requested a bottle of prosecco instead, and were then told they'd run out. That suggested they'd used some dregs of whatever they had left in our quite pricey cocktails, hence how awful they then tasted. The pub got loud and sweary around 3.30-4ish unfortunately, with an influx of staff from neighbouring business(es) and it was time to go.
L. G.
The staff are extremely friendly & helpful. The fish & chips we had was good but the menu is very limited & the choices for vegetarians is poor.

A pleasant pub in an off the main roads location. It is situated next to the canal and seemed very popular with locals and canal boaters alike. We arrived 10 minutes before they were closing the kitchen as they had organised a bbq and entertainment, but were welcomed in by the staff. We had a lovely meal in a great environment. The staff were attentive and the food was lovely and reasonably priced. If your passing I would recommend popping in for a drink or bite to eat.
S. H.
Great pub and restaurant. Friendly staff , food good , great location next to canal. Will definitely be back
L. W.
We pulled up onto a mooring, had a drink and a lovely meal. The staff where so helpful. Then went back to the barge, stayed overnight left the next morning
J. B.
Lovely pub, wonderful setting alongside the Grand Union canal, some nice real ales. Some of the staff could do with a bit more experience but overall a nice place to visit.
M. R.
Lovely place to eat. Stopped our Narrowboat outside and a very short walk later we we’re having a lovely meal. Also allowed the dog in which is great
M. M.
Great food, lovely atmosphere and a big shout out to the staff especially Julie for being the best and funniest host. Xx
L. B.
Great atmosphere with friendly helpful staff, we moored up here for the night and stayed for good quality pub grub
j. M.
Lovely food, great atmosphere and very helpful and friendly staff ❤️
P. F.
A great canal-side pub, very welcoming on arrival and great service in their lovely pub garden. The food was really good, my rump steak cooked to perfection (& I like it done 'blue', not often cooked right) and a great meal was enjoyed by all, however it was pricey. The good news though is that it was worth it!
S. H.
Had a lovely meal , Julie was very welcoming & friendly, & very efficient. Lovely venue fully recommended it !!
S. C.
Nicely positioned pub next to the canal, lots of barges going by, very pleasant. We sat in the garden, food wasn't anything special, went cold very quickly as plates were cold, we had the fish and chips and gammon and chips, the fish wasn't very big and the gammon was very thin. Inside the pub is nice and the toilets were clean. Wouldn't eat there again but would enjoy a drink next to the canal again.
W. C.
Looks great from the outside but the food was very mediocre. Wouldn't bother stopping there again.
J. A.
Really friendly, great food, good value and super dog friendly. Brilliant.
C. N.
Nice decor but I had fish and it was quite dry
M. C.

D. G.

Great pub use every time we’re on the narrow boat
M. D.
Amy and the staff was very welcoming. Apart from the electric going off. They were very helpful in finding us a good takeaway. Stayed for a few drinks.
Good luck Amy on your travels next year xx

Had a lovely lunchtime meal today with my sister. I had the belly of pork with pork cheek and mash with broccoli. It melted in the mouth and was really tasty and good value for money. My sister had battered fish and chips, which came with mushy peas and a geavyboat of curry sauce the fish was lovely and crisp and the chunky chips delicious. Both meals were piping hot. The service was very good and the tables swiftly cleaned. A lovely enjoyable lunch.
C. C.
Nice location, good to see staff actively cleaning bar and toilets. Bar service was great. Unfortunately, pricing on the app for drinks does not reflect what I would pay if I order in person. More expensive on the app. Please test or update your app to reflect happy hour prices.
D. F.
no food service after 18.00 very quite but lovely place. visited sunday.
I. L.
Moored for the night outside this lovely canal side pub, 4 of us enjoyed a lovely meal and Great friendly service. Even joined in with the quiz. Thanks for a lovely evening.
J. I.
Good food, beer and attentive staff
J. G.
I visited on Friday and had a wonderful meal! the new menu is amazing and has so many different things to choose from. I felt very safe with the guidelines in place, the staff were all so polite and friendly!!
will defiantly be returning :)
r. u.
Pretty good food at reasonable price.
S. W.
Great beer garden, gin menu and real ales. Food was OK but nothing special, reasonable prices.
K. b. B.
Only one word excellent, and the staff are awesome. Well done to all of you in these difficult times. And Harley the rottweiler loved it as well xx
D. V.
Nice pub lovely garden , very expensive
J. E.
Good beer. Excellent grub. Friendly, helpfull staff. Even mooring for our narrowboat.
j. p.
Lovely meal, pleasant friendly staff
A. S.
Excellent beer, no food on so couldn't comment. A friendly pub, ideally situated by the Grand Union Canal.
P. S.
Great pub, lovely attentive service, excellent food.
K. D.
Lovely place, never been before, came to see some friends and had a lovely meal next time we are down would come back again and would definitely recommend
P. J.
A beautiful setting for an afternoon drink by the canal. Plenty of outdoor seating alongside the moored barges makes it a perfect place for a pint or two. We also ordered some food from their extensive menu which tasted great. On a sunny day like today it is the first pub that I think of going to due to the large outside dining area. A really enjoyable experience.
B. I.
Not as good as it used to be, hopefully it will recover after the restrictions of the last couple of years when they had to close. Unlike some places they didn't have parties here during lock down!
C. M.
Enjoyed the meal here, sat outside in the garden which is at the side of the Grand Union Canal. Lovely location.
Food a little expensive in my opinion, but craft beer seemed well kept and reasonably priced.
Good for families and no problem with dogs kept on their leads.
N. W.
Highly recommend this pub. Great staff, excellent food, service with a smile worth every penny spent. Thanks for being a great pub!
A. S.
The Wharf staff kindly rearranged the prepared tables for our party without a murmur. Though busy, we were well looked after. Food and coffee were lovely.
(Don't drink bitter lemon though : nearly £4 for a small bottle)
R. B.
Best nachos ever tasted. Very friendly and accommodating. Dog friendly pub too.
M. S.
Stopped by for something to eat while on a walk along the canal.
H. R. G. L. T.
Visited on the weekend where we had a lovely meal and even got to meet Santa! Helen and her team have really gone the extra mile to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere which is essential for any village location.
My husband and I agree, this is our new local!
G. M.
It really is a lovely spot by the canal. The beer garden faces on to the canal and is a great spot in the summer for a drink. The food is ok, nothing to get over excited about but the meal we had was very nice. The menu does seem full of pub classics. It was a quiet night when we visited so mòt much atmosphere but I'd gladly visit again.
D. H.
Food seems to of gone downhill recently. Last week when we visited my son had a burger which was so tough and rubbery he couldn't eat it and I tried it but had to give up. Other customers were complaining about there chicken meal. What was a lovely canal side garden is getting very run down. Unlikely to be returning anytime soon.
P. n.
Great.lovely people and atmosphere
Didn't try the food but people commented that it was good will be visiting again.
S. L.
What a delightful place! The food was delicious, and very reasonably priced, the drinks were lovely and service was superb! Would definitely recommend this place. Added advantage of lovely views of the canal and canal boats! We will be back 😊
E. W.
Great garden by the canal.lovely watching barges and boats go by enjoying a beautiful garden. Our meal was a big let down but the staff were lovely and we would go back again. If only for drinks and the scenery. Vert comfortable and clean inside and out.
N. B.
A really lovely pub with very friendly staff. Josie really stood out as a friendly staff member. Covid measures are really good and made you feel very safe. Well done to all.
J. S.
We booked a table for 17 and pre ordered the food. The service was first class nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, hot and tasty and well presented. Well done and thank you for making our family reunion so special.
h. m.
Friendly atmosphere, staff were attentive and jolly.
Beautiful steak, we were told locally sourced from a butcher in Onley, could see vegan dishes on the special board so will be back with our fussy daughter!!!
B. P. (.
Very nice! Our group sat outside in the sun, boat phoned ahead so food was with us in about 20 minutes and was delicious. Watch out for the expensive ice cream though, it's just the stuff you can get in a tub at Iceland but cost £5!
Z. L.
What an amazing place and helpful friendly staff . We visited the wharf for a roast dinner and definitely weren’t disappointed. Plenty of food giving and lovely and hot. Love the garden by the canal and the beer always tastes good.
N. B.
Lovely location next to the canal. Really friendly service and we enjoyed our lunch. A bit limited on beer choice, but still well kept.
S. C.
Excellent christmas day dinner, scored 11 out of 10!! Superb food, massive portions, piping hot and fresh. Staff lovely, our waitress was great, excellent service. This was our first christmas dinner out, we were not disappointed, would definitely recommend.
G. R.
Very nice pub and very nice food
L. B.
1st visit here for a spot of lunch, wasnt sure what to expect but greeted by lovely staff and made to feel extremely welcome. Food was lovely, came out piping hot and good hearty portions and most importantly was a great selection of Gin! Will definitely be returning!
C. A.
Excellent food and the service was friendly and efficient too (we were a party of ten which can cause delays). I've been here a few times before as it's on the canal and found the food mediocre and the service slow at best but this time it was great. I would have no hesitation in coming back
P.
Staff were awesome, the food was great and the beer was cold, when the weather allows it a beautiful place to eat and drink outside by the canal and moorings... Greta and her staff really know how to look after their guests. Definitely a place to return to
T. B.
I think since it has a captive market from the canal and the road system it doesn't have to try too hard. Other pubs in the village seem to be on hard times. Can't say the meal was outstanding or the wine, what's going for it is it's open for food all day so you can call in when you like if having a bite to eat and moving off. Certainly not outstanding, nicely decorated thou and clean.
R. L.
Reasonable pub food. Most of the favourites such as beer battered cod, sirloin steak etc. Main course portions are very generous. Service was OK but lacked enthusiasm. The pub has a large beer garden on the canalside. Perfect for a summers day lunch or beer. Especially if you are boating. Caters for family groups including young children.
W. U.
Four of us turned up announced at 1230 pm and were greeted by a very pleasant and friendly young lady behind the bar. We sat by the blazing log fire and felt extremely comfortable. We ordered our food which was served very quickly and piping hot. It may be fair to mention that the pub was not busy at this point. We will most certainly pay another visit
B. O.
Its the first time Ive been in since the management took over the food was great as usual and the service was excellent. I had a quick chat with the new manager and he was very pleasant and I could tell very experienced in his trade although he was very busy working in the kitchen he still made time for the customers and the new lad Ryan came across as very well presented and polite with a smile to cheer anybody up I hope they settle in well and wish them all the best. I will recommend this eatery to friends the whole experience from the food to all the staff was a real treat thank you
K. D.
Lovely place. Right on the canal side. Can't wait to see it on a sunny & busy day.
Def worth a visit. 🍻😎👍
K. S.
Very nice pub lovely setting
J. D.
Went in a party of six. The steaks were nice, the veggie options pretty good. The pasta sauce was very thin, didn't stick to the pasta, but their customer service was great and they refunded with no issues. Would go again
J. H.
Excellent visit and good food
M. L.
Lovely Sunday dinner, good portions and great staff.
K. B.
Lovely bikeride to the pub from Northampton on the tow paths.
R. Y.
This is a review from a working class blackcountry bloke. Although a bit pricey the beer and nosh was sound, and the the two young waitress' bostin. : )
F. P.
Closed for now due to Covid... We got in just in time for our meal last Friday. Staff were friendly and food was good, the burger was cooked just right. Will go again when they reopen.
P. S.
Beware of being overcharged. The law states that public houses, bars and restaurants must display a price list for beers, wines and spirits, near the entrance or displayed near the bar. (I was unable to locate this).
I ordered a small sauvignon (not the New Zealand) wine and a pint of "Black Sheep" plus a bag of crisps. Paying £9.25. I queried the price I was charged. As looking in the table menu It should have been £3.55 for the wine. I was told the menu was out of date and it was actually nearer £4.55. I would suggest that if visiting the Wharf, you check the prices before ordering. And that the management at the Wharf complied with the law.
T. B.
Superb food, excellent value - great location by the canal - highly recommended.... but... sadly let down by two surly, less than friendly young bar-persons. Certainly worth the visit - just hope for different staff !
H. J.
Lovely food lovely staff
C. T.
Really good friendly service. Food very nice and a reasonable price. Aided by a nice warm evening so able to sit out by the canal side. Would happily recommend. 👍
K. J.
Came in at 12 a.m. on a Sunday. Roast lamb pigs in blankets and a pint of Moretti for £21.70. Best breakfast I've had in ages! Thoroughly enjoyed it and value for money. Thank you.
I. R.
Visited today for a family meal, amazing food, couldn't fault it we were all happy and full. Lovely service and atmosphere, will definitely visit again on the boat!
K. C.
Lovely food, staff and drinks!
Beautiful peaceful location, definitely worth a visit!!
I. W.
Over priced Sunday lunch, service good, beer good out side space good.
K. M.
Good service and food. Above average pub fare. An extensive menu with a good range of veggie, fishy and meaty dishes.
J. M. B.
We visited this pub on the 22nd September 2020, the staff were very polite and helpful, the food was delicious and the service was great. We will definately be visiting again 😀
G. P.
Enjoyed the couple of hours we stayed at the pub. The meal and beer was good. The collection of old and not so old books were most interesting if I lived near by this would be my local for sure.
N. J.
Only stopped the boat for a beer on the way past. Very pleasant. Will go there again to try food as it ooked good.
N. T.
Everytime we visit (which is becoming a lovely weekly Sunday dinner visit) we are greeted by very friendly and organised staff, feel welcome on arrival, food AMAZING, atmosphere cosy. Would recommend The Wharf very highly. We arrive via canal but accessible by car with plenty of car parking space. Five plus plus Stars from us.
A.
Nice warm pub. 2 taps on, well conditioned Ale in good condition.
A. W.
Pleasing experience, bar staff friendly but I do think it needs a bit of a spruce up at some point in the future
T. A.
The gammon was great and the Courgette, Pearl and Walnut Linguini was fab. The pub was very welcoming and the staff was very helpful and cheerful. The food didn't take long to arrive either. Will be coming back again if in the area.
A. G.
Lovely food served in this canal side garden. Worth booking ahead to ensure food is available.
D. F.
Haven't eaten here yet, but alcohol is very expensive, compared to the other pubs in the village. Otherwise, great location and great staff! Also, I've heard the food is great too.
C. C.
Excellent, food! Good service even though it was quite busy because of the eat out scheme. Definitely go again!
s. j.
Had another fabulous meal at the wharf and a lovely new menu , staff very friendly and attentive and social distancing rules and regulations in place , very happy, I will return
A. S.
Absolutely spot on. Stuffed as a butchers dog after the roast even my son ate all of his who is 6 & that never happens. Will defo be going back to try other meals on the menu
C. S.
Excellent the food was first class and perfectly presented. The staff lovely and girls looked after us so well and made us feel special on my husbands 75th birthday. Thank you all. Carole Sprigg
N. S.
Staff were friendly and most of the food was great but the vegetarian sandwich was a bit goopy and there were missing items such as sour cream (for the very spicy chilli) which we only found out when the food arrived disappointingly. Otherwise we enjoyed!
L. V.
Great pub garden right next to the canal, plenty of outdoor seating and food served to your table inside or out. Good selection of beer, cider and wines. Conveniently located in the village.
T.
Great local pub and restaurant, friendly staff, quality food. Great in the summer sitting out next to the canal and in winter there is the bonus of a real fire in the bar to huddle round.
K.
Nice location, service quite slow for just drinks but good selection.
M. M.
Lovely! Good food, large portions. We came at 9pm when the kitchen was closing but they still served us and delivered quickly.
c.
Had dinner here on Tues really looked after and great food 👍
A. C. (.
So up and down it makes a yo-yo feel ill! Chefs come and go. Slugs found in food served. Manager smells unhygenic and is rude. Wait for the next manager and maybe this pub will yo-yo itself back up again... maybe...
N. C.
Nice pub with big garden lots of available tables near the canal. Had a few tasty little bar snacks... will visit again
F. M.
Really nice food. Menu not massive, but not at all disappointing. Garden nice and the boats pass by all the time. Recommended.
M. J.
Friendly staff and good food. A nice selection of wine , beer and ale. Lovely setting right next to the canal
p. g.
Lovely canal side pub, good selection of beer
M. W.
Good Food. Service was excellent. Expensive as the portions are on the small side. The crispy duck was like trying to find a needle in a haystack! However, I would recommend.
K. B.
Reasonable pub fair choice o beers only probs when we there like everywhere due to carbon dioxide shortage limited real ales to oniy one Phipps. Foods good pub fare and sheem on the cut so scenic garden with boats put, put, putting as you glub, glub, glubbing your drink.
O. H.
Good pub if you are a boater as you can Moor right next to it and sit in the garden
R. S.
The Wharf is clean and well presented pub and restaurant. If the weather is good you can sit in the beer garden and watch barges travelling by. The countryside around The Wharf is very good.
S. G.
Very friendly staff lovely food and great sceneary in the summer where you can sit by the canal and enjoy a few drinks. Not much parking on site but is parking down the side of cornhill road
C. m.
Had drink then had to wait 45 minutes for food good job not in a hurry.
