Reviews of The Wig & Walnut at Grange Park
J. B.
We used to visit this venue on a regular basis when it was The Grange Inn, so we decided to give it a try a few weeks after the new refurbishment and rebranding to the Wig & Walnut. We visited on a Saturday night and it was fairly busy. It was nice to see some familiar members of staff and many new ones. We had pre-booked a table and had a choice of tables, so we sat in the bar area for the best atmosphere. We orderd a pint of lager and a medium white wine, £10.35. We both had the Bacon and Cheese Burgers at £13.25 each. These were lovely, albeit the fries could have been hotter. The new management are trying to attract a more higher spending clientele by offering "start with a G&T" at £8.00 each and inflated food prices compared to what the previous Grange Inn used to offer. We used to visit during the week, but will visit now and again on a Saturday instead of more regularly like we used to. I think increasing prices is really poor timing, considering the cost of living crisis at present.

We visited on Sunday & looked after by lovely host, Ishi. She was so helpful & attentive, keep checking on us if we needed more drinks. My friend had a zesty cocktail called “raspberry mojito” & I had “porn star martini “ Wowza! We asked barmen’s name, Callum, he has some skills! Sunday roast was outstanding, humongous Yorkshire puds. We decided not to have a pud as we were way too full but our waitress, Ishi recommended us to share their wow factor “Chox bomb” dessert. Ooo we loved it! It was Fascinating watching her pour a hot chox & all of a sudden melt at once. We’ve truly enjoyed our evening! Well spent our hard working cash indeed.

My wife and I went there for our 36th Anniversary meal. We ordered main course and drinks. The service was good and meal arrived fairly quickly. Unfortunately, my main wasn't as well done as I asked but was ok. My wife's was slightly over done but again not too bad. We went to leave after a couple of hours and were met by the Manager as we were leaving. She asked how the experience was. We commented as above. She immediately apologized and asked if we'd care to stay on a while offering Cocktails as a gesture. We accepted and stayed longer. We were guided into another part of the building which was fantastically furnished and very comfortable. During that time, she offered us a return date to dine again. She also served us another drink before we left. We spoke to other members of staff who were all very friendly. It's only been trading a couple of weeks but I like the style. My advice? Give it a try.👍

Our grandson works at this pub and we thought it would be nice to pop in to have an early meal. Very impressed with the overall experience. The interior, cleanliness and appearance makes for a cozy country style pub. We had a lovely meal, good menu choice and the service was first class. I see why our grandson loves working there.

This place is in good shape again. Decent prices, food served fast and hot, but not the highest of quality. But for the price I’m not complaining!
Now does quiz nights, speed pool nights etc. Certainly much improved compared to years gone by.

A lovely meal, and excellent service. The only reason I don't give 5 stars this time is that we felt like we were being rushed. We'd had the menus about two minutes and were asked if we were ready to order. My partner still had a last mouthful of starter when the plates were cleared and the main meal put down. I could almost understand if it was a busy Saturday night. It was a quiet Tuesday evening though with more empty tables than full. The food was, as usual, excellent and good value for money, and the atmosphere friendly and happy.

As the pub had just reopened we thought we would go and try it out. We visited at lunchtime. It was quite busy and we hadn't booked, but staff were friendly and welcoming and offered us a table either in the restaurant or casual (in the bar). The food was delicious and the service was good. I love the decor.

Extremely welcoming pub and restaurant. A huge improvement since the refurbishment. Really well stocked bar if you are a gin lover and the menu caters for most tastes. The food was fantastic. The decor and atmosphere is comfortable, warm and inviting.

The decor has been upgraded, the menu too and having been there three times now since the Grange Inn became the Wig and Walnut, I'm very impressed. The service is excellent, staff polite friendly with a sense of humour, the food is excellent too. I'm definitely making it a regular choice when eating out.
