Brilliant Banningham. Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Friendly and warm welcome from all the staff, very clean venue with excellent covid protocols, we felt very safe. The service was spot on, this is a very well run establishment. The food was outstanding, absolutely gorgeous tasty & piping hot, I'm sure our plates didn't need washing they were so clean! The menu is extensive and it was difficult to choose, with additional daily chefs specials to boot. I would highly recommend this pub and look forward to going here again. It has a large car park, an outdoor children's play area, they allow dogs & there's plenty of room for large groups. All this set in the beautiful Norfolk countryside. Outstanding. I would also recommend booking in advance as not to be disappointed, especially with large groups. Oh & they also have live music & comedy gigs etc. Whats not to love!

Fantastic food and service at this beautiful 17th century pub. We had the chicken supreme, steak & kidney suet pudding plus chicken skewers. Followed by chocolate mousse, brownie and Belgium waffle. Delicious!

We were recommended the Banningham Crown by our host at a nearby holiday accommodation. It was a good recommendation because the food was delicious and the range of drinks was good. The service was polite but due to the pub being quite busy the service was somewhat uncoordinated at times. Would definitely visit again for food.

I had the summer seafood platter which was really great. More than enough food for one with a great variety of items. We came at around midday so the pub was relatively quite and we had no problem finding a table. They have a varied menu, a light lunches menu, and a specials board which means you're guaranteed to find something you'd like. They have a good selection of draught beers and ciders as well as all the usual wines, spirits, and soft drinks. The service was friendly and professional at all times, however, the meals did take quite a long time to arrive considering how quiet the pub was when were there and the types of dishes we ordered. I'd definitely go back.

A wonderful Sunday dinner. Our party of 6 consisted of ages 7 months up to 65yrs, we were all made to feel welcome and well looked after. Being a busy Sunday lunch did not take away from the quality of service or food. I would highly recommend the Crown for a family meal, we will definitely be back again.

A very pleasant lunchtime visit. Friendly attentive staff. Good choice on the main menu, opted for the large steak & kidney suet pudding despite the warning of our server as to it's size. No hunt the meat in this pudding but I managed to "plough" my way through it - just! All in all a great choice for our lunchtime meal. Great food with friendly attentive staff!

A group of about twenty of us had Sunday lunch. Every aspect of the experience was great. We had first rate food served by cheerful and attentive staff. It all looks so straightforward when everything works smooto but I'm well aware that it only happens as a result of a lot of hard work. I'd have no hesitation in recommending The Crown.

We booked a family meal last night, 22nd November 2022, and were shown to our table in a cozy alcove soon after we arrived. Service was efficient, friendly and polite. The gentleman who waited on our table was somewhere between formal and relaxed casual, a perfect combination. The food was excellent, everyone being happy with their choice. Seems a little expensive at 1st glance of the menu but the portions are very generous&the food is excellant. We all had a wonderful meal tonight. We were a party of 4 and all choose different meals as there was so much choice. The waitress was very good, friendly but polite, and the whole place was cosy, clean and welcoming. We indulged in a lovely dessert of panna cotta with flavours of ginger and lime with raspberries and a pistachio shortbread that was a delight. I will definitely go again to try something else from the lovely menu.

Accommodated a party of 10 (and dog) at short notice. The staff were very attentive and we felt like we were being looked after. There is a wide choice of food on the menu, and after ordering our food arrived in good order. The portions were large and tasty. After a starter and main, there was no room for pudding. For anyone holidaying in North Norfolk and looking for a place for dinner, I recommend the Banningham Crown.

Don't let the throw back decor fool you. This local village pub is hiding a poorly guarded secret... That is that they do probably the BEST ROAST DINNER in Norfolk!! Great mains and desert - big menu with lots of choice for vegi and meat options. Childrens menu was perfect for our 4 year old too. We were there in a busy Sunday so service was slow at times but overall it was a great experience, nice to see a pub busy and I will definitely be back again :)

Lovely setting for an "Olde English Pub". Staff were polite and attentive without being intrusive. Food menu was a struggle, as there was so much choice but that is a conscientious business trying to cater for "all kinds". All the food seemed to be of a high quality and value for money. The roast beef was cooked as I like it (I was asked on ordering). We will be returning again, when other family members are visiting. Booking is recommended, although, as there was only my partner and I, they did find us a table! Top marks to the staff, chef(s) and owner(s)!!

Quaint pub with extension for additional dining, located in a nice village. Extensive menu catered for all our tastes. Child friendly and dogs also. Food quality fairly good for what we had. Biggest selling point...serves food all day whereas other options we called only serving until 2/2.30 for lunch.

Everything suits me about this place. Location, the atmosphere, food and staff. The meal is served at an unrushed pace, you are not under pressure to vacate the table, which seems to happen now at some places. The food was very good , the menu has a good and varied choice. Prices are fair, not pricey at all. And to complete the night the staff are very professional and friendly. Want a nice night out, give it a go, I'd be surprised if you didn't like it.

Faultless. The last time I visited this pub was pre-covid. Food remains superb as dpes the cellared ale. The pub is quieter than I remember but like most places, it appears to be effected by the sign of the times what with high inflation and the economic impacts of both covid and now, the war in the Ukraine. My advice - save your pennies and get down to this delightful eatery and pub when you can. Please support it and don't let it fail!!!

Disappointing. This is the first time, after numerous visits, have I felt that my meal was very definitely not up to the Crown’s usual standards. My stepdad and I both chose the roast pork. The meat was dry, there was no crackling and the veg very basic and minimal. I felt as if it was lunchtime’s leftovers. Won’t rush back, sadly.

Seven of us have visited 3 times this week. They fitted us in at short notice even at a busy time. Not one complaint about the food, not a bad plate served. The menu is varied and should cover most palates. Staff are cheerful and helpful. Lovely place to sit and chat but if you don't eat you're missing a treat.

Just okay, we visit as a family 2-3 times a year but has been a while and feels like something has changed in the kitchen. Service is still great but my wife’s meal was a little tough , my burger was a little cold and had an odd flavour , odd enough to leave most of it. Kids seemed happy enough though but overall I think l could have produced the meals at least as well at home, I am not a chef . Will probably give it a miss next time we go out to eat.

Popped in for a light lunch. Nice menu choices of baguettes and jacket potatoes etc. These were very generous portion sizes and were presented in a way which was pleasing on the eye. The ambience was a nice mix of old style pub and restaurant with very helpful staff. Prices were £7ish for a baguette lunch that came with fresh warm chicken breast and salad. Lots of parking. Nice.

This is a traditional country pub with a good reputation for its food. The main age of customers are over 60+. So why play rap music and indy wailing!

Usually very high quality, tasty food with lots on the menu. Sadly Saturday's lunch, and they weren't busy when we went, wasn't cooked well. Though the food was good quality our fish skins hadn't even been browned and our pie crusts very tough and the pie lid burnt. It's a shame they were served but we'll give them another chance.

Was out on a cycle ride today and stopped off at the crown and saw the food sign on display next to the door. Went in to be told they were up to maximum capacity as they have staff issues and the only thing available was drinks sat outside in the empty garden and saw at least another 10 people all arrive and was told the same. Seems crazy on a bank holiday weekend to have this problem considering they have just come out of lock down.

The food was lovely we couldn't fault the food although I would advise that it's not cheap. The cheese and biscuits was the only let down with a few biscuits and slivers of cheese. I didn't particularly like the onion pickle that came with it and would much rather have had a nice chutney. The plate could have done with being a bit prettier with maybe some apple and grapes however I would definitely return.

We found this pub via the internet. We were staying in a cottage near Holt but had struggled on our holiday to find good family pubs to eat in. We managed to get a table for our family which includes 2 young boys. The staff were really helpful and the menu was what I consider to be appealing with lots of traditional pub favourites amongst other more refined dishes. The food was lovely and the ales went down well. The stir fry was superb as was the treacle tart with custard for pudding. The pub and restaurant are really lovely and the garden areas are also suitable for family dining, weather permitting. This was the best meal we had on our holiday and we will be returning next year for more of the same. Thanks.

This is a very popular upper end pub which is more restaurant than pub. It's ok but that's about as far as I would go. Some of the waiters great, some see to have stepped out of sixth form college and don't really want to be there. Food is average. Decent enough pub food but just that really- pub food but I think would like to be more. Dishes came out very salty and out of 6 of us none finished their meals fully. I don't know anywhere else to go in the area that is better in fairness but don't expect too much.

We visited Banning Crown for an evening meal one Friday. It was a quaint little place tucked away in the Norfolk countryside. Very pretty from the outside but the inside decor is a little dated by today's standards. Our meal (local pigeon and pie) was a little uninspiring and we found it difficult to say it was real value for money. Service was OK. If you like a very homely feel and fairly average food then this place is perfect for you.

The first time we have deliberately looked on Google maps to find a nearby pub for lunch. We were taking my 100 year old Mother out for a days drive. Banningham Crown was a wonderful find. A lovely old 17th.century countryside pub just off the main road. Quiet in the off season but I suspect much busier a month ago. A real Norfolk welcome. Good access for wheelchair. Interesting menu beautifully cooked. The steak and kidney pudding was incredible. It comes in two sizes. We had both and luckily I had a good appetite because I wouldn't have wanted to waste any of mine. We will certainly be back.

Went here for a birthday lunch, and we all loved the food. The main courses where to die for. Especially the Beef Wellington and their signature lamb dish. The desserts where lovely too but not as good as the main, though that says more about the quality of the mains than any problems with the desserts. The staff where lovely and took their time to talk to use about the food, restaurants and where very friendly to our children. If you are anywhere near this place then I would urge you to go and eat here, as you won't regret it.

Well they didn't dissapiont me either I had veal with boulanger potatoes and a maderia sauce.. Well OMG I so wanted to lick the plate but was told that I couldn't. It was so delecious. Both food and waiter type you would expect from high class establishment not a pub. I recommend this place very highly in fact is so good I'm going back again tomorrow. My wife and I went to the Crown for a pub lunch today to celebrate her birthday. She happened to mention it to one of the staff and before we knew what was happening out they came with a bespoke little ice cream dessert with Happy Birthday written in chocolate, complete with candle! It was a really lovely touch and so unexpected. It made her day as they sang Happy Birthday to her. To think they would do that for a complete stranger tells you all you need to know. Excellent food, a well kept pint and service with a smile. We're not the sort that normally leave a tip - but with did for the cracking team at the Crown.
