This is a looovely pub 5 mins from Norwich Station. It has a nice selection of beer and the staff are excellent. Enjoyed my c9uple of hours there and would go back. I had a burger which was excellent if a bit pricey...

I'm a vegan and the nut roast had finished, (it was 5pm!), so I had a Beyond Vegan Burger with fries and barbecue sauce. Fantastic. I'd have it again tomorrow. Actually, that's tempting! Very friendly, helpful staff and a great atmosphere. I shall definitely come here again. Thinking of making it my local.

Fabulous customer service, guys are doing their best! table service and after ordering food, came to double check if all is fine . Just brilliant Tasty food and good choice of drinks. Fantastic and cosy seats by the riverside outside ⛵

A really lovely pub by the river! Good hearty pub grub. The service is second to none! Bar staff are really friendly. Also a dog friendly pub and alway's will be on hand to give your dog water and some treats. A great pub for everyone.

Very dog friendly. They had dog treats available and the staff were nice. It's near the river and train station so it's a handy location with some nice views. Good as a pit stop in the daytime but would recommend another nearby river view competitor pub for a longer stay. It has more space downstairs which is along the river which is lovely and a good sized outdoor seating area upstairs. Interior decor is ok. The downside is sadly some of the clientele can ruin it at times, quite a lot of very loud unwelcoming drunk 'jack the lads' shouting' who are from the countryside who live outside Norwich come here a lot for a day or night out in Norwich due to the location near the train station.

Apart from the decent Green King Jubilee ale the staff who greeted us at the door looked after our Greyhound perfectly! A bowl of water with ice cubes! And doggy treats! The human food was also excellent. Thank you.

I may not live in Norwich (yet), but I consider the Compleat Angler my local. Whenever I'm in town I MUST visit the Compleat Angler multiple times (daily at least, if not more). The people are always so wonderful and welcoming, the food and drinks are always on point!!!! I've never been made to feel like an outsider or tourist. Always treated like this is home. That's why it's my local from 4700 miles away.

Typical average pub experience. If you're a smoker/vaper it has some nice views of the river. I would only pay the pint price when football is on though as its got two wetherspoons in quite close vicinity to it

After 23 years of living in Texas I went home to England. I've always imagined myself going into the Compleat Angler and ordering an ice cold Carlsberg and lime. (The Compleat Angler always had the crispest most tasty Carlsberg as they clean their keg pipes twice a day) When I got there I asked for the Carlsberg and lime I'd been dreaming about all them years ago to be told "we don't have Carlsberg anymore," I was gutted so told them my story. They replied "Well we've cleaned the pipes once already today. " So I had Carling instead and it tasted great and was as cold as you get. I went in there a few times while I was in Norwich, the food was always great, the beer fresh and cold, the staff were always fantastic. I love this Pub and wished it was in Texas.

Right next to the river, this pub attracts crowds easily. Sitting by the water on a sunny day with a cold one is lovely. You can walk all around down by the river and then go up some steps to get access to town but you'll go through this pubs back garden. Lovely atmosphere. The inside of the pub is large and very well laid out. The style of the bar and interior suits. They have TVs to watch sports if your into that. This pub is a must for a sports fan, a must for someone who enjoys a wide variety of drinks on tap, a must for outdoor drinking sat on balcony watching the boats. You can get a wheelchair in through the door and a scooter and plenty of room inside. I am unaware if they have disabled toilets as there was a step down to the regular toilets.

Greene king pub with a good selection of beer and decent food. Bit pricey for what it is but that's just because its next to the railway station and centre of town. Good for watching the football and there's a nice outdoor riverside terrace that gets sun in the afternoon.

The manager Tony was super helpful & very friendly. The only downfall was that most of the menu was out of stock so we were limited on what we could order. But the food we did order was delicious and they even made a meal to that wasn't in the menu for my picky nephew. We would absolutely come back here again

The chap on the door was an absolute rude dude. They should not employ him. Said there were no tables. There were many. The lad that served us was a great attribute to the pub. And enjoyed his company and service My advice get rid of the security! !!

Enjoyed good drinks and a very reasonable kilo of chicken wings whilst watching the Poland/England game. Also took advantage of the 15% Greene King discount card! A young lad worked his socks off behind the bar while the - I assume - manageress/tenant needs to take a refresher course in hospitality. Serving customers should be prioritised above carrying out mundane tasks which can be accomplished when there isn't a queue at the bar and, if wiping surfaces and emptying/filling glass washers and slop buckets is deemed essential right at that moment - which by the way it wasn't - deliberately avoiding eye contact with the queue at the bar is not the way to do it. Something like "I'm sorry guys. I'll be with you as quick as I can." is far more likely to keep the queueing customers happy as they watch the young lad running round like a proverbial.

Great food and drink, amazing staff. I visited a few nights in a row during a recent stay in Norwich. The pub has a great location close to the riverside and opposite the railway station. Staff were thoroughly professional throughout, considering the difficult circumstances the current restrictions have put on all hospitality venues. Visited multiple times over the years and have always been impressed with the range of beers they have on sale as well as the price. Nice outside area and an excellent pub to watch sporting events in. Loads of TVs and screens in good locations so you always get a view. Good implementation of COVID routines as well.

I quickly stopped off here with a friend for a beer, a buzzing atmosphere and was served straight away at the bar, because it was really busy in there we decided to drink at the bar, the barmaid was very chatty and didn't mind us standing there, The drink was reasonably priced but i have paid less in most pubs i go to. But this is the centre of Norwich. Sport was on tv, great looking pub from the inside. Shame we couldn't stay long. Yes i would recommend this pub.

A Greene King pub, pleasantly set next to the river, with GK's standard pub menu on offer. As a 'big screen sports' type of pub, it's probably not the type of place where you'd go for a romantic meal but it serves its basic function well and, as it's just across the road from the station, it's handy when waiting for a train. Like many other GK pubs though (why, I wonder?) it's impossible to find a cubicle in the Gents with a working lock on the door!

Very good fish and chips. It is a nice place, especially outside where you can sit next to the river. Sometimes it might be bit noisy as the road is very close. This pub is also the away teams pub whenever Norwich Canaries play.

We ordered a Sunday roast which advertised goose fat roast potatoes and home made Yorkshire. Well they might well have been Goose fat (frozen) potatoes but they were not roasted but deep fried. The Yorkshire was cremated and the beef was something that came out of a packet. Do not go here for roast dinner here. The staff however are very good and the pub has a nice feel to it.

Pub was OK and the manageress friendly, but one of the other staff members was a little unpleasant towards our little group. Perhaps it was a bit late for them. Still worth a visit as it's more original than a lot of Norwich pubs.

Wow what the fantastic place the spirit which is in- is absolutely incomparable to the others, the location near by train station and not too far from the bus station only give it on the whole great attraction the food is the best by the way well done guys.

Perfect meeting point before and after a football game. Entrance on matchdays only with matchticket; why? A friend got none and had to wait until we arrived with tickets. And he worn a NCFC scarf. Good cover band after the game. Toilets are oh well!

5 Stars for real ale selection and quality on the Friday evening that I went in. Beers from Oakham, Green Jack, Nethergate, St. Peter's and Moongazer were all on handpump. Much better than you might expect from a Greene King pub.

I went into this pub because I was surprisingly early for a train I was catching, I asked Liz for one of the most uncommon but also one of the wisest drinks for an alcohol lightweight to be ordering after a heavy night out the night before. The drink in question was an Old Rosie (7.5%abv) Cider Shandy. Shandy being the fried egg test of the bar keeping world, not to be confused with the bee keeping world (there are other reviews on bee places in the world, as opposed to places to bee) Liz passed with flying colours, the chat was excellent and we were able to have a shandy and a smoke at a beautiful table by the river. During the day this place is usually quiet, at night time though it is rammed. I did not see any chavinders or cockchafers!
