Reviews of Horse And Groom
A. L.
Our group of ten family and friends including two dogs had a lovely late lunch at the horse and groom yesterday. We all had something different and agreed all the meals were delicious, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere wonderful. We will definitely be returning. The prices were fair and the selection of beers and ales excellent. Thank you to the staff for giving us such a lovely experience. I'd just add we chose this location as it said it was dog friendly and really was.

We held my daughters baby shower Afternoon Tea at The Horse and Groom yesterday, and it was amazing. The afternoon tea was a sweet and savoury one and was all home made and delicious. It was also a really good price, probably the nicest I’ve had in a very long time.
We had a semi private room space with use of the outside back courtyard which was absolutely lovely. The staff were so helpful and just couldn’t do enough, we were made to feel so welcome and will definitely be back for dinner very soon. Special thanks to Tina for providing such excellent service … nothing was too much trouble. The barman and Chef Manager were also excellent, they checked regularly we had everything we needed and even offered more afternoon tea items, and constant tea and cold drinks. Thank you so much.

Tina the bar lady was fantastic. She needed a platinum medal for putting up with us all. Thank you to all the other staff that stayed over even though the kitchen was closing has we got there. Food was outstanding delicious. Worth a visit

Sunday lunch, very good what we had. 9 of us. Beef, pork, and chicken. But not a green insight!!!! They had sold out on the Saturday night. How about a trip to anywhere, to get some frozen peas!!!!!!. Again, what we had was good. Shame

The Horse & Groom was a half mile from where my girlfriend and i were staying as a long weekend break. We were very happy that there was a delightful pub in walking distance and we decided to have a meal here on the Saturday evening. In a nutshell, the food was outstanding. My girlfriend ordered the pork belly dish and it was mouthwatering. The prices are perfectly reasonable and the staff are very friendly and chatty. The only thing that was slightly lacking was atmosphere but this will no doubt improve once word gets out.

The Horse and Groom is under new management and they are clearly trying to make this a venue that offers a little more than standard pub fare. The menu offers lots with a nod to expected dishes but the odd twist to lift it. We had the duck bonbons and smoked salmon to start and the cod loin and chicken for main. All were good, and with a few minor tweaks would be excellent, broccoli was over done with the chicken for example. The duck starter in particular was a winner. The cheese board was large and very filling, the brownie was nice, but again just needed a bit more to lift it to the standard I'm sure the team ate working towards. I've given 5 stars because given they only opened in this guise a couple of weeks ago I think it's a fair rating (and I can't give 4.5!!). We will be going back and if you'l live anywhere local or are visiting the area and looking for something that isn't the massive portions of another local mainstay or the feel of a hotel restaurant then this is worth a go - one to support as they build a deserved fan base!

Visited the Horse and Groom last night, really lovely friendly pub. Really liked the smart but cosy new decor and we had a great meal. I had pork and apple burger and partner had home made steak pie with fresh veg, all excellent. Thanks a lovely evening.

Just had a lovely pint at the Horse and Groom. The young barman was friendly and had a great chat with him. It was our 1st time in the pub since it's been under new management and we were quite impressed. Many thanks 👏🏻👏🏻

Lovely meal very well priced. 2 adults 2 course and drinks just over 50 pound. Food was cooked to perfection. Friendly atmosphere and waitress was very friendly. Highly recommend

Staff were friendly, we had beef and Adnam pie and sausage and mash, both of which were tasty. The pub is in a nice position and is very clean.

We had a great evening meal here. The service was fantastic, and the food was excellent. Presentation, value for money and choice really good.
There are many other pubs about, all tatty and the same old pub food, whereas here was a refreshing change.

Another fantastic meal at the Horse and Groom! The food is fantastic, and very fresh, and the new menu is a good balance with something for everyone. The chips are some of the best we have had and would highly recommend the scotch egg and muscles.

Been here twice in one week whilst on holiday - the food is absolutely brilliant. The service is great and the establishment itself is clean and welcoming.
Highly recommended and I would say worth a drive to get to for a good dinner. Kid friendly - our son raved about the food afterwards.
J. S.
Very friendly pub and fabulous food.
K. L.
The food was very nice and the staff made us feel welcome the only small criticism is a bit more vegan or vegetarian items but we'll worth a visit
I. M.
Lovely location, staff very friendly. Food was excellent, but be warned not cheap - it's not over priced at all, and worth it. Just be aware if you come here it isn't for a burger for a tenner.

This used to be one of our favourites- our 'go-to' for a celebratory meal out. No longer. It's clearly changed hands recently and while some of the food for our party of 6 was good other items were well wide of the mark, especially at the not insignificant price-point. To add insult to injury, when asked how things were and we gave very hushed and conciliatory feedback, it was not taken well at all and the waitress became overly defensive and excuses were made. We didn't even point out the issues that followed in subsequent courses for fear of further souring the atmosphere which was already strained and resulted in our bringing the cab pick-up forward an hour. A real shame, we really used to love it there.

After trekking everywhere and being totally ignored at another pub in Horning, found this on a wimp and so glad we did. Waiter was lovely and very attentive from the start. Food was hot and so tasty. Will definitely return!
S. E.
Always a very warm welcome...very professional and remember you.
Never had bad food experience.
M. M.
Nice food, very friendly welcoming staff. Pub is well laid out and very clean. I'll come again. :-)

We had the Sunday roast here and it was superb! Lovely pub, lovely setting. The service was a little slow. There was one lady who was friendly and really on the case, but was busy behind the bar. One other waitress who was a bit slow and didn't really seem on the case, I assume she was new. Bear with the slow service though, the food is worth it!

Oh gosh I am so sorry I ticked 5.. We had an amazing evening. The food was exceptional, I had the burger and it was the nicest I can recall. Well presentation, tasty and super value for money. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere super also. As it transpired the quiz was on which was a fabulous bonus. I hope my star rating has updated. We will definitely be recommending and returning

Pretty average food. I Had the burger which looked like it had no time spent on it at all and for £11, iv had more side garnish at Wetherspoons.
A. P.
Wonderful lunch, excellent value and good portions, plenty without being heaped so high you know you won't be able to eat it all which happens in some places and is so off-putting. The most delicious raspberry shortbread sandwich for dessert. Staff were friendly and polite and the whole atmosphere was warm and welcoming. It was Tuesday lunch so quiet but still a nice feel about the whole place. We loved it!
J. M.
Nice friendly and welcoming pub
D. C.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Good service
J. S.
Lovely lunch in a bright environment which welcomes dogs. The chips were the best! My mum had the cauliflower soup and she said it was delightful. On the way out we chatted to the owners! This is what country life is about lived in Norfolk over 40 years still love it.
N. W.
What a lovely place, proper Norfolk, middle of nowhere, but make the effort. Lovely staff, good service and sumptuous food. Good coffee, just right with dessert!
J. P.
Visited after the reopening on 31 Mar for a late lunch - food was excellent and will recommend to my Holiday Let guests
M. S.
Good pub grub. Friendly staff
S. B.
Lovely to have this back as a pub again for the local community. Remember going to visit a lot as a youngster when at my grandparents. The pub offers a good choice of beers and other alcoholic beverages for a reasonable price. Its really friendly all the locals and staff are willing for a chat. Has a nice outside area and the pub still has the wonderful old cottage style look although looks slightly clinical inside now after turning back from a restaurant but I'm sure with time this will become more cosy. I would say it could do with having more comfy seating rather than half the pub more as a dining room.
H. W.
Lovely village pub with quiet outdoor seating area, pleasant staff and attentive service. Good light lunch selection. Steak and blue cheese salad very tasty. Excellent Eton mess and chocolate brownies for dessert. Will visit again for Sunday lunch.
A. S.
We went on a Sunday and the food was amazing. I don't normally eat/enjoy a roast but there's was to die for and I can't wait to go back.
G. C.
Not a great deal of choice unless you want burgers. However very friendly
K. B.

A great pub for a meal but this time the Woodfords was off (happening a few times following brewer changes at the brewery I hear) but the Adams dry hop lager was superb!
S. S.

Really nice pub serving some ales. Bar staff and super friendly, the younger bloke was happy to help as much as possible with the choices of gin!
L. C.
Lovely food, staff very friendly and will be returning
J. W.
Its ok but very clicky. The sort of place that if Fox hunting was still legal there would be 30 or more horses and a hundred hounds on a sunday ready to chase the foxes. A lot of people who think they are special.
M.
Lovely little country pub. Friendly staff and great service.
P. W.
New manager in the pub, have some good plans for the future, I'm sure it will do well
S. R.
Really wanted this to be 5 star as it's just up the road but we all had burgers and the quality was poor. Place is lovely but no excuse for poor quality of meat...
M. W.
Not as good as it used to be. Menu has shrunk and as per norm these days, self inflicted covid rules have spoilt the experience.
J. F.
Warm welcome from the staff, delightful setting and wonderful food. Thank you
