Reviews of White Horse Inn Neatishead

We were recommended this fine eatery by a family member and boy were we not disappointed.
We hadn't booked but were soon escorted to a table up on the mezanine by a friendly waitress named Holly. My husband had lots of questions regarding the beer selection which Holly was able to answer with great knowledge.
Our orders were taken swiftly and food arrived in good time.
We could not fault our experience, the staff were all super friendly and efficient and food was superb *****👍👍

Wonderful dog friendly pub.
We had a lovely lunch at the white horse.
The food and local beers were excellent and the staff were very welcoming and friendly.
On arrival they claimed to be the "most dog friendly" pub in Norfolk and I'd certainly agree. Our cocker spaniel was very happy with his water and treats!
M.
Absolutely lovely staff. Each one was lovely and boisterous and catered to our wants/needs. Dog friendly place and suitable for a gluten free diet! Best place I have eaten out in a while! The food was more than amazing; definitely worth coming back again.

One of our absolute favourite finds on the broads! If I could give 10* I would! Only a 5 min walk from neatishead staithe where we were lucky enough to Moor up. Beautiful village pub, lots of seating and lovely and cool on a hot day. Staff all very friendly and welcoming, we had lunch and it was amazing!! I have never had a ham cibatta quite like it! (See pics!) Perfectly home cooked onion rings and even the chips were just delicious. My husband had sausage bacon amd brie ciabatta which he said was just amazing also, brie was delicious! Would 100% reccomend a visit here if your on the broads. Coming into neatishead is just stunning. We will definatley be returning customers. Thank you!

The food was very well presented and also very nice, and the atmosphere for the place was a positive too. The staff were very friendly and helpful to accommodate us (all 9 of us!), and the selection of food/drink was very strong. Never realised this place existed until a few weeks ago, will be back again this year! (Plus they're on Just Eat which surprised me!)
UPDATE: Recently came back here for a meal (3/6/22), however we hadn't booked and it was very busy. They did give us a table once one was available which was greatly appreciated. Myself and my mum had the Muscles and they were VERY nice and very well presented. They also allowed my mum to change her choice of fries to new potatoes free of charge, which was very kind.

Very good service, fabulous food, parking available either at the pub or village hall which is a short distance away, couldn't fault it. Don't forget to take a walk around the village, visit the general store and staithe, also a small Farmers market in the village the 2nd Saturday of each month.
S. M.
A nice pub in Neatishead (the lady in the boat hire site called it meaty shed) and the food was quite good. However, four stars rather than five as we were placed in a strange upstairs corner (along with other diners) rather than down in the main body of the Inn. Wasn't helped by the other diners being rather loud...
S. P.
We had an excellent meal here for a family of ten. It looks like a village pub from the front but walk through and there is a really nice restaurant area at the back, easily accessible from the large rear car-park (with level access for wheel-chair users - be sure to ask for a ground floor table if you need this). The menu was packed full of interesting items, nothing too far off the wall but standard items with an interesting twist. There was a good vegetarian choice too. The food arrived well prepared and presented and tasted great! We had starters, main and dessert and there were no disappointments. Service was attentive and friendly. The price per head was not unreasonable for the standard of food and service we received. I'd love to go back just to work my way down the menu and sample the dishes I had to pass-up!
L. B.
A great find and a good place to eat when visiting BeWILDerwood. The food was delicious and there was a great varied choice on the menu including vegan options. The staff were very attentive throughout. I enjoyed the pizza which was stonebaked and the children loved their sausage dish. There was even room for a tasty dessert.
J. B.
There's plenty of parking on site which is good. We were so well fed, generous portions, and a great vegetarian and vegan choice (including pizza which I couldn't finish so brought he, it was SO good!)
There were a wide selection of real ales too.
We will be back!
D. G.
Lots of young inexperienced staff trying to find their feet! 45 minute wait turned into over an hour, certain drinks unavailable or order's sent out wrong! Was with family so laughed it off! Food was lovely when we finally got it!
s. b.
We only popped in for a half, but ended up having a little snack too. We had the olives and bread to share. It was very nice and plenty of it. There was a good selection of ciders too. The staff were all very efficient and helpful and the pub was dog friendly too.
J. A.
Excellent village pub with unusually large array of beers. Food was very good and the service very friendly, a thoroughly enjoyable visit. if coming here via the Broads, you need to get into the moorings early in the afternoon if staying the night, a good idea is to visit here for lunch from your boat. Great pub
M. B.
Friendly staff, great food, lovely building. Good number of options for vegans too :) I personally didn't love the jackfruit burger but that's just me. The chips are absolutely delicious. Would recommend xxx
P. C.
Lovely Norfolk pub visited whilst cruising on the Broads in our hired day boat. Lovely lunch, every beer/cider you could wish for. Very dog friendly and free mooring a short walk away. Veggie and Vegan choices too.
C. M.
Lovely dog friendly pub. Very impressed with the choice of gluten free dishes on the menu. Service was good and the food delicious - very generous portions. Will definitely eat here again 😃
A. T.
Lovely lunch, attentive friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble. Dog friendly.
R. T.
Cannot fault The White Horse Inn. So much so that we had lunch and dinner on the same day. Staff are very friendly, attentive, and helpful. The building is lovely and quite quirky. The food and drink are both great. Couldn't ask for more.
B.
We paid just a short visit to this pub and enjoyed a lovely ice cold drink on the hottest day of the year. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Hopefully we'll be back on our next trip to The Norfolk Broads.
M. B.
Very good service at this dog friendly pub, the food is amazing here and I think had the best gammon steak ever! The pub also brews its own beer. Very welcoming staff as well.
J. B.
My Partner & I went for a meal with her Auntie & Uncle , our dogs were made so welcome & the lovely Chef even did them some lovely Chicken . From start to finish we were made to feel welcome , the Staff were amazing , food was delicious and we will be coming to The White Horse on our next visit to the local camping site . Great place 5 Star

What a fabulous restaurant, very friendly helpful and informative staff. Excellent quality food. Very fast service.
Crispy Calamari starter, Pan fried Sea Bass (very large fillet) main.
Very good portion sizes.
Good value.
All in very nice surroundings.
A perfect evening meal.
Thank you.
You should be very proud of your team. Exceptional
J. N.
Good menu, great food and good range of beer and gin. Really nice pub with friendly, helpful staff. Great service, reasonably priced. Dog friendly.
A. B.
Great beer selection, good food, plenty of seats / tables. Like many pubs in the area the bar area is a little small, the majority being configured more like a restaurant, but doesn't really detract.
R. H.
We were on the Broads and been here a couple of times in past years so was keen to try it out again after many years. Pub was cosy and warm (seemed to have a decent refurbishment inside) with good service and great service. Happy customer.
M. P.
We had the halloumi and chips small bites and it was fantastic. The halloumi was soft and fluffy, something I've never seen before, but definitely tasty.
They had a selection of local ales and ciders, including a reletively high percentage flat cider that tasted exactly like apple juice. Very dangerous!
S. C.
Lovely pub. Excellent service, very friendly staff and top notch food. Very doggy friendly too. 10/10 thank you 😊
R. D.
The food was good and the staff very polite and helpful though the table was a tad small tor a party of 6 I would have rated it as a table for 4. Prices were good though and a nice selection of drinks.
S. P.
We didn't book even though they were very busy they still got us a table. We had a lovely meal. Even when it was busy the food still came very quickly and wasn't much of a wait on food
s. k.
Great food, lovely staff and very dog friendly.
Will definitely be back and happy to recommend.
W. W.
Went there while boating - a lovely pub, good selection of ales and wines, good menu, tourist prices...
J. D.
We visited the white horse inn yesterday for Sunday lunch, we were a party of 10 (6 adults and 4 children) plus 2 dogs. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive and helpful throughout our visit, we arrived quite early and sat in the terraced garden for drinks, we didn’t know how long it would take us to get to the pub as we are boating, but when we were hungry and asked if perhaps we could be seated a little sooner (around 3/4 of an hour earlier than our booking time) - they sorted our table within 5 minutes!
As for the food, it was delicious! Generous portions of hot and very good quality food. The children’s meals were so generous and the kids loved them.
Also, they’re incredibly dog friendly - the dogs were fussed over and treated just as well as the humans! Which was a lovely touch.
Thanks for taking such good care of all of us, if we come back to Norfolk, which I’m sure we will.. we will be sure to pay another visit 😊

A lovely pub for sure. Staff were most helpful and pleasant. A great selection of ales/beer on tap and a good menu selection. I had the Kofta with chunky potatoes sides, the best I have tasted for a long time. The pub is nicely decorated and clean. Would not hesitate to visit again.
B. D.
Lovely food, great ciders and really friendly staff who made us feel very welcome with our dogs. A proper dog friendly pub which is not always the case in some places when you walk in with Bull Terriers, but not here. I hope we get time to go back 😊
K.
We spent a week on the broads and ate here 3 times! 😊
The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. A special mention to Steve, Jay and Sasha for their excellent service and to Ben for picking fresh mint from the garden to make my wife a Majito. 👍
The Sunday roast was incredible. Well worth a visit.
H. L.
I will forever be coming here when we come to the broads. The staff are fantastic, they couldn’t do enough for you. We have eaten in here and it was so lovely but we decided to get a takeaway to eat on the boat last night and it was absolutely fantastic. The team even put together a roast for my partner to take onto the boat and it was unreal. Would recommend to anyone!
D. S.
We've just returned from a meal here. Completely satisfied with excellent food and good service from lovely staff. Between our party of four we've had the gammon, the salmon and the sausage and mash. All highly recommended. Thank you.
r. w.
Staying locally for the week and had an excellent supper on the Monday. Returned on the Wednesday later than I had planned at 8:30 to find the kitchen shuts at 8. Checked the website and can't find anywhere where it states that so my opinion has been somewhat tarnished.
C. W.
Good food, generous portions and a good range of beers. We will be visiting here again when in the Norfolk area. The staff were great and very attentive.
S. M.
Excellent meal. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and character. Excellent table service. Recommended.
J. (. X.
Lovely place went there last night.
I recommend going again.
Waiter and Waitress are so kind and lovely.
And food apart from the onion rings which look so bad.
The burger up there for one of the best I've ever had!!! Worth going too.
P. F.
Good food, superb service (actually gave my elderly aunt a lift back to our boat in their car). Many many thanks for that, and will call in again next time we're in the area.
K. C.
lovely, informative, helpful staff. very good beer, unfortunately didn't have time to try the food, I will next visit
T. W.
It was my first time visiting and I hope it won't be the last. Great choice of beers and ciders, tasty food, and fabulous staff who really set the tone for a truly warm and welcoming atmosphere.
P. R.
Food was excellent at reasonable price. Great portion size. Service was exceptional. Looking forward to going back .
S. C.
Lovely pub and food is really good, can recommend the roast dinners. Friendly welcoming staff and dog friendly which is a bonus.
P. H.

S. A.
Undercooked scampi was horrible.Had fish instead which was lovely but meal was spoiled because partner finished his before mine arrived.Waitress was lovely and apologetic so would give it another go in the future
W. P.
Five of us walked from Gaye's Staithe to Neatishead in expectation that the dining experience at the White Horse was going to be well worth it!
However we left feeling very disappointed and let down.
We arrived at 6:00pm and waited to be served. This waiting was to be the norm between our two courses. We asked for the bill at 8:00pm as we gave up waiting for the staff to take our order for dessert! The bill turned up fifteen minutes later, after asking TWICE!
The rating is for the quality of the food, minus the lacklustre service.
H. P.
Lovely local pub with plenty of atmosphere and a very good selection of ales, as well as a particularly good alcohol free lager (apparently, although I didn't try it of course). Friendly staff in a lovely little village
M. B.
Just had the Christmas meal and it was wonderful.
Thank you to all the staff involved
D. P.
Very nice. Cosy pub restaurant. Good menu and very nice food. Friendly accomodating staff.
G. S.
6 of us went for a meal whilst cruising on the Broads. Absolutely fantastic Pub with mouth watering food and great service. If you’re in the area this is the place to eat! Can’t recommend it enough!
A. R.
The staff are friendly and where great with the children. The food was really good with a great choice. Next time we are on the broads or just in Norfolk we will be going again. Their own ale is also great.
H. I.
We loved this pub. The food was excellent and the service from Issy was exceptional. Out dogs were served like royalty too. Cannot rate this place highly enough.
F. C.
A very nice pub and nice service but messed up our order but they were sorry about it and brought it back fixed, fast. Thank you Gina Honka. Xxx </3
Will return definitely
Thanks
S. S.
Another one of the many excellent eateries on The Broads, we never miss this one out if we can get a mooring. We'll be back. p.s. why does nobody do bananas and custard for afters, my fave. wink wink.
S. E.
Very warm and friendly staff...very efficient... lovely food and atmosphere...will return.
R. L.
Just enjoyed a lovely lunch for seven plus dog. Very welcoming and friendly staff, beautifully cooked food served hot in pleasant and comfortable surroundings. Excellent value. All in all a first rate experience. Thank you all at The White Horse Inn Neatishead.
L. D.
Delicious food, very friendly and helpful staff, would definitely recommend
T.
Fantastic night full of banter, good food, and ales! Beyonce sung happy birthday to one of our party with her amazing voice. The rest of the staff were really frickin' awesome too.
A. S.
Fantastic pub!! Huge selection of well kept ales. Funky layout and decor. Small well-decked-out courtyard with seating. Food was great too!! Well worth the visit but be aware that parking for boats is limited.
M. L.
The food here was delicious! Every detail made a difference. Staff were friendly and polite. I totally recommend going here.
A. L. G.
Brilliant pub! Lovely food and drinks great staff! Well worth a visit!

It was amazing, the food was delicious. Highly recommend it. The sirloin steak is the best i ever eaten. I had it medium rare-well done.

K. B.
Great food, amazingly friendly to us and more so to our fur babies, will be back soon.
K. K.
Been here 3 times over last couple of months., great service, lovely food, lovely restaurant.
S. W.
We tried this place during a mid-week short break on the broads in a tiny boat. Wasn't expecting much, and, boy, we got a very welcome surprise.
It's a great place...
...the menu has something for everyone and the quality doesn't suffer for that, either. I had the kebab flatbread. D-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! My wife's salad (including tasty fresh goat's cheese - I did try some - and locally baked bread) was so good too that we were both keen to try out their sister pub: The Lion, Thurne. Equally good, so if you want to try two things on the menu then dilemma no more.
Staff very friendly, to humans and dogs alike. Great Beers.
Really strong recommend.
J. B.
Good service and brilliant food. Keep forgetting it's easy to get to by road.
J. F.
I was disappointed. After we were seated, nobody came to take a drinks order for over 15 minutes. I went looking for somebody. She told me a waitress would be with me shortly. I explained that was what we had been told when we were seated.
I chose pizza - a mistake. There's no excuse for not using fresh chillies. Beef brisket doesn't work on a pizza, especially when the thin strips of brisket are dry and flavourless. The whole pizza menu needs reworking. It seems to have been put together by somebody who has watched too many pretentious cookery programmes. Simplicity would help.
My wife would have given an extra star since she enjoyed her prawns and her fish dish, although she was surprised to find it also contained sausage.
We were in the restaurant part of the pub. It was modern, clean and soulless.
E. C.
Love it! Good food, good selection of their own and other breweries' beers and gins. Great food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Highly recommend - and you are well advised to book. We were there in October, (before half term) and it was already busy at 6pm!
D. W.
Great Sunday lunch we have all ready booked for the next Time we are on the broards
I hope that we can get moored
S. J. J.
Fantastic food, fantastic beer selection, fantastic staff.... beautiful place to chill. We stay in Neatishead alot and avoided this place as we've had so many bad experiences, but it's changed and we love it ❤
K. P.
Lovely village pub better than I expected. Covid compliant. Greeted by a lovely girl who shown us to our table. She made a fuss of our dog which I always think is a good sign that it is REAL dog friendly pub. Good choice of food and drink. Did not have to wait too long for our food that was freshly cooked and was lovely. Would visit again. Thanks to all the staff that were very attentive
P. S.
Nice food. Pleasent staff. Plus dogs are welcome.
P. A.
Lovely country pub with good choice of excellent food and ales
G. E.
Lovely situated pub for a drink whilst out riding.Sit out the front and watch the world go by
J. L.
Popped in on the off chance of getting something to eat, was told that they were very busy and the kitchen was due to close but still they bent over backwards to cater for my wife and I with a takeaway order. Not only that but the extremely friendly bar staff gave us tasters of different ales/beers whilst we waited for our food. Would thoroughly recommend this establishment. Have to mention that our burgers were undoubtedly of the best quality I've ever had from anywhere at anytime.
I. P.
What a great little pub this is! A great find after we had visited the area to stop off at a friend's house. Good car parking to the rear, outside seating at the bottom end of the car park in a shaded area.
Lots of different places to sit inside, nooks and crannies, and in an outside courtyard.
Very friendly helpful staff. Food and drinks served very quickly and the food was great. Lovely local beers and ciders too.
Take a rug from the box near the courtyard for those chilly days and nights. Dogs welcome at this venue.
B. B.
We're gluten free, and they're always fantastic. Food is delicious, and service by the whole team is incredible.
C. F.
Very friendly. We dined in the bar area with our dog who was given a bowl of water and were made to feel at home.
Good variety of food on the menu. Steak and ale pie with stilton was beautifully cooked as was the family's pizzas.
Would definitely recommend for a relaxed dining experience with good food and a pooch.
J. L.
What a lovely place. Food was of a good standard and reasonably priced. Staff were attentive but we did have to wait about an hour for our food but as we were chatting and catching up not a major issue. All in all, a nice place to eat and catch up.
J. W.
Really nice 👌 there had a lot of work done since I last visited, really nice food to well worth a look.....
L. C.
Has to be one of the best places in Norfolk!
The food is amazing,
I had the flatbread and my other half had the burger. Great range of vegan, vegetarian and meat options so something for everyone!
My 4 year old enjoyed the options on the kids menu.
The ginger chilli cider was an unexpected treat too (couldn't resist trying it and was not disappointed - will be having it again!)
Came away with full bellys, great memories and a new Norfolk favourite!
E.
We visited twice, very nice, clean and friendly, menu is varied, but I do feel the desserts are expensive and slightly laking something, the chocolate brownie was abit thin, and the Carmel cake and lemon cake where abit underwhelming, but the pizza and pies are good and the salad was fresh.
G.
Lovely pub, crowded on a Friday at 18:30, so book in advance, good food and exemplary service from the friendly staff
t. m.
Had a training day here...
Nice pub tucked away in a lovely little village....
The hospitality was excellent and friendly
Very attentive with drinks and the food was good especially as i am a vegan and they accommodated me...
M. B.
Went there yesterday for a quizz night and had the Tapas menu. Food ok but prices ridiculous I mean £2.50 for one pitta bread, really. Not value for money. However, surroundings fine and helpful staff.
J. H. T.
Staff were friendly and helpful, food was OK, but I'm hard to please,so only 4 stars.
R. D.
Very good meal staff very friendly lovely interior and a nice pint of strawberry and rhubarb cider
T. M.
Honestly a fantastic little spot for dinner, good choice of ales and great home made pub food.
N. S.
Lovely tasting food, great selection of beers, really friendly staff.
E. M.
Very nice pub within walking distance of the broads moorings. Lots of space, attentive staff, child friendly, decent food.
M. T.
Great food, but there was quite a wait for 4 of the 6 meals we ordered. Very polite staff and clean facilities.
N. E.
Wonderful lunch out with hubby today.
Great tasty food, good portion size & the staff are amazing 👏 xxx
B. C.
Great meal after a day of boating. Worth the visit.
A. M.
A lively place to eat. Both food and drinks were good and reasonably priced but the stand out feature was the staff - young but friendly, happy and attentive.
D. T.
Lovely evening with my family, food was lovely and a not badly priced. Great younge staff realy friendly and helpful.
M. C.
Great fish and chips! Also a good selection of other food on their menu. Plenty of outside seating. Beer selection is great! Lots of local ale including their own brew.
D. S.
Staff were superb and the food is amazing 👏 especially the onion rings
m. M.
So good we went there the next day. Staff were so nice and helpful. Food was great especially as a vegan and the salted caramel biscuit cake omg - delicious. Portion sizes are generous too. Would recommend
T. R.
Highly recommend, great food, ales and service
A. L.
Absolute gem of a place, staff were so friendly and polite, dog friendly and the food was lovely
S. M. (.
Slightly interesting evening, in that many of the menu items had run out, so even at the last minute we had to change orders. I know it's not easy, but maybe a note on the table before we arrived to day what had run out would've reduced the number of order changes, but still, the food we had in the end was VERY good. Great selection of drinks, and fab staff. Their system for ordering and paying was ace. All the waiters and waitresses had card readers and ordering PDAs to send the order direct from the table to the kitchen, and then when it came to paying, you either paid cash there and then, or they charged your card from the table. Great service, especially during covid. Made a big difference to the experience, and made table ordering very easy. I do sympathize with the staff over the last minute order changes, and they were clearly stressed about the situation, however they still did a great job, and were very helpful so still made our evening enjoyable. Would definitely go again, however if you're a picky eater, maybe don't visit on a busy Sunday night 😉😉🤣🤣.
A. F.
Great food, good portions and good service. Take out available also.
E.
Such a wonderful experience at this welcoming and well-kept restaurant. Something for everyone on the menu, outstanding customer service from all the staff we encountered during our visit and perfect timings between courses and payment. Very much recommend and cant wait to sit inside or enjoy the cosy atmosphere under the lights in the garden.
T. A.
Great food great service the old part of the pub is still retained with the new improvements and eating/seating arrangements
m. w.
Good beer, great puddings, friendly staff.
J. S.
Had a fabulous meal on Valentine's Day night. The staff were so efficient and friendly! We are new to the area and cannot wait to return...with our dog next time 😀
S. I.
Very friendly staff, great food would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area. Easy to get via the nearby staithe, only a 5 minute walk.
s. j.
Excellent service from very attentive friendly staff. Everything arrived on time and atmosphere was very good. Main courses were huge so couldn’t attempt a sweet, and scampi was more breadcrumbs than meat so a bit disappointing considering how near the coast we were.
S. G.
Lovely pub with great ales. We couldn't moor at Neatishead Staithe, but it's only a 15 minute walk from Gaye Staithe. Very clean.
Plenty of tables inside and in the garden. Food was very tasty (we had a pie and a pizza). And lovely staff. We spent many hours here playing cards and tasting the beers, and would recommend it for any boaters
S. B.
Been twice now for a drink but not eaten there yet. Very busy both times but staff always friendly n helpful. Have tables inside and out well spaced. Toilets clean with lots of sanitiser about. Enjoyed our evenings.
c. d.
Beautifully refurbished a few years ago, like its sister pub, The Lion at Thurne. Great selection of real ales (including locally brewed ales) and other beers. Good food too. Staff friendly and know what about what they are selling. We always make a point of coming here when on a hire boat for the week. Highly recommended.
J. W.
Amazing food with great attention to detail. Covid safe and the amazingly sexy staff make you feel at home. If you're lucky, the manager will get a round in! If you are visiting the broads this summer then put this place at the top of your list. Go for the pork when available.
R. D.
Great beer, lovely food and wonderful staff.
A. F.
Oh wow, what a pub , amazing food and a very large selection of beers and spirits, very good staff and great service, free 24hr limited mooring available nearby
P. D.
amazing pub , food was great with plenty of choice great value , the staff absolutely welcoming and very friendly, this pub is definitely worth a visit 😀
A. B.
Fantastic food menu, big choice of drinks, attentive staff and delicious food. The sausage bacon and brie sandwich was so good. Would recommend this pub to anyone.
E. M.
Food was amazing and staff were excellent. I was particularly pleased with the selection of vegetarian food available, which was good enough to have appealed to both vegetarians and carnivores. Thank you very much!
K. M.
Lovely pubby pub, lovely ale, cider and lager selection and nice open fire! Friendly staff too 😀
P. G. (.
Dog friendly, good beer, good food and welcoming staff.
B. A.
Very friendly attentive staff, nice ales and pleasant environment.
However the food was ok, but certainly not anything special. Good selection of starters which were very nice, but the mains were very lacklustre and very little actual fish in the battered fish and chips.
Disappointing. Work in progress perhaps?
P. C.
Had a lovely evening here. Very nice food at reasonable prices, good selection of ales and ciders. Staff pleasant and polite. Reccomended.

Fish and chips are excellent, so with this in mind we paid a second visit. To this tastefully modernised pub. Well the beer is well kept and the staff are knowledgeable and attentive . Sadly they didn't have their own beer on at the time of our visit. However the food was just OK. The mash was so mashed it was like a packet product, I have done this myself in a food processor, it goes gluey. Small beef and ale pie and the game casserole needs seasoning.
A. T.
Friendly and courteous staff. High quality food, drink and service!
b. e.
Very nice pub garden. Lovely young staff. Visited Saturday evening, blooming freezing and raining. Would of stayed longer but it was miserable being outside. Wasn't until we were leaving we realised they had a courtyard with heaters in. Oh well we'll have to return!
K. W.
The best pub in Norfolk, Rachel and all the staff are just so lovely and the food and ambience is so warm and friendly , food is above pub food standard and they love to welcome dogs , an amazing place, matthew lisa and little bella the cavachon xx
L. G.
What an amazing pub. From when we walked through the door we were made so very welcome. We had a drink then decided to stay for lunch. The food was really lovely and beautifully presented. The prices are competitive it was amazing value for money. As for the drink we originally came in for was also very nice, so nice in fact i bought the bottle (large). Thank you to the team at the White Horse Inn at Neateshead. X
L. L.
Lovely pub, wonderful atmosphere and great grub, and last but not least the gin list has something for just about everyone who likes gin... One word of caution, the portions are huge
J. B.
Great food portions just right so you get room for pud!😁👍🍸🍨🍧🍡
C. C.
Great food, lovely staff.
j. p.
Very nice pub and friendly staff . Pub garden was nice , the lovely waitress brought water over for our two dogs straight away , service was impeccable and friendly , food was rather nice too , and relatively fair price . Hope to go back soon .
W.
I love this pub/ restaurant. Great selection of beers and shorts & the food is 1st class. Reasonable prices for both food & drink with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Popular with locals & tourists from the broads in season. Good size car park at rear & overflow car park across the road. Wish it was my local.
J. H.
Loved this pub. The food was excellent. Both for adults and children. Service was prompt and friendly and my wife particularly liked the different gins on offer! They also let the dog sit in the bar with us, where we ate, which was really helpful and convenient.
K. M.
Good food, excellent service, would go again.
S. S.
Amazing pub serving fantastic choice of food. All staff attentive to our needs...a real team effort especially after the chef went home with a reaction to a wasp sting.. well done all! Will be back when we visit Neatishead next year. Recommend the seeds bass..particularly good.
N. P.
2nd lockdown and the prospects of take away being delivered looked very slim in rural Norfolk on the Broads...until we discovered the White horse. Ordering and delivery a breeze and well managed, arrived within the hour. Food was absolutely first class, a modest range in the menu but all done with excellent ingredients and cooked to perfection - very modern and flavour packed but overall a healthy and nutritious feel remained after eating rather than takeaway guilt! Food like this is normally only expected in larger metropolitan areas so to have this place on the doorstep out here is brilliant. Will definitely use again and again. 2 tiny reservations only, one is that the Onion rings don't travel well in the containers provided, delicious but batter had suffered slightly. The other point is that given the standard of the mains and sides - we'd love to see some dessert options please. Your food is outstanding, thank you!
S. O.
Lovely food, nice cos you can bring dogs, lots of different beers, staff good very accommodating
a. f.
A very nice place to eat. Staff were extremely friendly and even brought out some treats and a bowl of water for our dog which he enjoyed! Food was good and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back!
H. O.
Nice pub which succeeds in mixing modern and traditional interior to make it lighter and airy but retain classic features - bar and large fire place. Good range of beers, ciders and lagers. Only had a sausage sandwich for lunch but sausages were delicious and from local butchers. Menu did large and small versions of main courses which is good for not pigging out and/or wasting food
R. R.
Wouldn't fault this inn, whilst the weather was lovely and we sat in the garden, from the moment I tipped myself off my bike and asked a passing waiter food times and how we went about ordering due to covid restrictions all the staff couldn't have been friendlier whilst quietly extremely efficient and the food was also very good and plentiful. I would recommend this well organised and professional pub.
M. T.
Great Pub. Has changed a lot since we last visited many years ago, but staff, ale and food are still great. Little tables and chairs at front are great on a sunny evening.
P. R.
Loving my first visit with my family to this lovely pub & friendly staff.
L. S.
Excellent food and excellent service well worth a visit
A. M.
This place... is a fantastic pub! It does food but I wasn't there for food so....
Loved this place as it's recently been revamped but still has that "local pub" vibe! Open fire that's also nicely guarded. Beers and Ciders and Ales that No one has probably heard of that ended up being very tasty indeed and very nicely priced (1 pint of Angry Orchard Cider... £3!).
I would highly recommend this place for the drinks and the very friendly people... and the little touches on the interior design (beer glasses for light shades). Definitely 5 stars 😊
J. M.
We had a decidely average experience. One of our group was very disappointed with the trimmings ("they could atleast stretch for good quality frozen petit pois, they were rubbish, an extra few pence on a better bag and it would taste nice").
J.
Awesome place!! The only thing to remember is that dogs are only allowed in the bar area, we tried to sit quite far away from another dog, but ended up in a really busy corridor!! The food was good, the presentation of the food was posh, and looked very nice, staff were very friendly about getting you the sauce you wanted, the actually place looked really nice, and it's a short walk from the mooring!! Overall quite good!!
A. T.
Our meal tonight was great, simple pub food but obviously good produce cooked really well. The staff were doing thier job brilliantly. Thanks chef
M. M.
Lovely village atmosphere really friendly helpful staff great food and service had the fish and chips excellent cooked really well highly recommended
S. S.
Great homely food and friendly staff
s. a.
Great food and lovely staff.
H. C.
Opens at 12 for Sunday lunch. Went in, and 45minutes later starters arrive. When the mains came after 1, beef was stringy, and Yorkshire's half cooked. Very much seemed that prep had not been completed before pub opened, and food was rushed out. Service, however, was quite good, which pulled the rating up from 1 or 2 stars.
J. B.
Great selection of beers and Gins, had a meal which was okay, but we were put on a table in a corner and were slightly forgotten about, it was over the Bank Holiday weekend and they were busy, but no one asked if we would like desert. It may be a different eating experience when less busy. We would try it again if we are in the area.
J. E.
Food was fantastic as were the staff, our waitress was so friendly and helpful. Found us a table straight away even though we hadn’t booked and were very good with our dog, offering water. Would highly recommend, we walked up from Gay’s Staithe which was only a 15 min walk.
A. F.
A very homely, friendly pub. The food here is exceptionally good. Also, a great range of beers.
M. X.
Amazing service and food, really recommend!
D. S.
Really nice pub, had a beer in the garden with a few friends, really enjoyed the PG pale ale. Our server Emily was fantastic; friendly and funny.
S. H.
Great selection of Beers made in its own little Brewery!
g. D.
A very friendly Pub/Restaurant. Welcoming young children and oldies.
T. L.
Absolutely brilliant the drink, the food and the service. Top that with the lovely friendly, helpful staff. Hard to beat.
P. L.
Excellent. Well kept beers especially their own home-brewed ones. A great kitchen serves delicious food, friendly and efficient staff are attentive and quick. Interesting events such as an Oktoberfest pop up now and again, well worth a visit.
s. b.
Lovely service from the staff, food little overpriced. Had game casserole but shot pellets left in meat and bits of bone was not pleasant. Could have done with some vegetables to fill plate. Good ale selection and dogs allowed in bar area. Reservation advisable as does get busy.
Z.
Good range of beer. Enjoyed the fish and chips too.
L. H.
Returned here after a space of about 5 years when it was a great little old fashioned Norfolk country pub, full of character and characters. I must say that I expected the refurbishments that I'd heard about to have destroyed the original flavour, but what a pleasant surprise was in store. For sure, it has been well knocked about but the original bar room remains the heart of the pub, complete with old fire place, bench seating and pamment flooring. Seven bar top hand pulls and nine gantry taps ensure a great selection of ales and ciders and the menu can take you to whatever range of food suits your pocket. We just had bangers and mash and a steak baguette at around £7 each and both were well presented and very tasty. The restaurant, although closed at lunch time I think, looked stunning with it's glass walls, two tier seating and tall double sided wood burner. Very modern and a tasteful contrast to the old bar. The staff were extremely pleasant and tell me that they are hoping to start brewing their own ale in the not too distant. Well done on not only saving this lovely old pub but on improving it not beyond recognition as is all too much the price to be paid these days. We will return!
V. S.
Excellent food, welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff. Really glad we visited 😊
S. M.
Good beer and good, nice staff…
S. R.
Can't believe we've lived up the road for 2+ years and we've only just found this pub! Food was exceptional, staff were welcoming, attentive and helpful and the place itself is absolutely lovely. All that along with Black Dog ale and reasonable prices. We will definitely be back soon.
R. H.
Proper pub food, nothing fancy just good food cooked well in lovely surroundings with friendly staff.....if you're not in the mood for a lettuce leaf with raspberry jous, this is the place to come.
R. S.
Nice village pub with large selection of drinks, good food and beer garden. Staff very helpful. Well worth a visit
K. M.
Love this place. Great food
g. v.
The food was lovely and obviously freshly made. It does get very busy and you generally need to book but we were lucky enough to get there early enough to just sit. They also have some really nice local beers on tap.
J. C.
Omg the food......totally delicious. Lovely staff and dog friendly.
r. c.
Very friendly staff, very dog friendly pub, dog got bowl of water same time we got our drinks, service is great, lovely food
J. A.
Nice food and good beers, variable service.
Edit: this review was made based on our visit the first week in March before the lockdown. We have been to this pub every time we tour the broads and always look forward to our evening there.
C. B.
Stopped off here for a quick pint but ended up staying all afternoon. Great choice of beer and home made pizza was lovely. One of my favourite pubs on The Broads.
L. W.
The pizzas are amazing.... I'd actually say The Posh Pizza is the best pizza I've ever had.... totally recommend with a glass of Rose in the garden by the river... such a good way to spend a Friday afternoon... staff are brilliant too
S. C.
We are lucky that this is our local, I love the choice of gins and OH enjoys the choice of beers. Food good and we always opt to eat early as it gets very busy in particular during holiday times, we always book no matter at what time if year. Various rooms that families can sit in and in better weather there is a small courtyard. There is a garden at the rear of the car park that has some unusual seating but unfortunately this year it seems to have been neglected.
L. I.
Very nice pub, and a lot larger than it looks from the outside! Great food and drinks and nice service. We came with a large group over the holiday period but they were very good at fitting us in and did a great job of service a large group with a range of dietary needs
H. L.
Good varied menu. Some items are a bit pricey but food decent quality.
G. B.
A lovely pub. Good food and well kept ales. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Great and a favourite with my family
L. S.
Great food, lovely surroundings and very well thought out and customer friendly Covid-19 precautionary measures. Great vegan options which have been harder to find with menus currently being slimmed down. Very highly recommended!
C. H.
A lovely dinner out in the Norfolk countryside.
Modern on the inside with a traditional exterior. I had a lamb and mint pie, so plenty of choice for your pub grub favourites with contemporary style. Most importantly, we ate with our dog there which is important for us when we're out and about all day. Can't wait to go again!
D. L.
Great food and drink, friendly atmosphere and helpful staff, well worth a visit suggested that you book in advance for meals.
t. w.
Had my birthday meal here, lovely place and food amazing service everyone lovely and very polite
D. D.
Great food, brilliant service despite a large party. Only downside is they lost their brewer so don't serve any of their own brews however a great pub with lovely atmosphere. Must book
M. L.
We chose this place because of the proximity to our holiday accommodation and the great reviews it had received. Unfortunately, it seems we caught them on an off night. Main courses were average to say the least and we had to send two plates of mussels back TWICE because they had clearly not been cleaned (hairy beards still on!). Also one of the main courses did not arrive as advertised and a couple of menu choices not available (we give them a pass on this though, due to Easter weekend stock issues). One of the meal orders was forgotten and did not arrive until.most of the group had finished their dinners. Overall, not overly impressed, though we're sure the pub works to better standards normally.
P. A.
Absolutely mind blowing food. No exaggeration I haven't eaten calamari that well cooked outside a Michelin star. The food came out quickly and the staff were lovely. Would recommend 10 times over.
J.
Not to be missed!
A lovely pub on the Norfolk Broads trail.
The pub is relaxed with a bar area, restaurant, lounge and outside space.
Bar staff are helpful, very friendly and attentive.
Excellent food with a good choice.
The chips are particularly good.
The range of beer and ciders are one of the best we've seen.
You can take your dog too which is a bonus for us dog lovers.
If you're touring the Norfolk Broads this should definitely be on your hot list. If you're not you should still visit.
A great pub.
R. C.
Great venue, great food and service
R. P.
Had a lovely lunch with great service from friendly staff. The portions are large and filling. If you into real ale this is the place for you.
D. L.
Extremely friendly and knowledgeable owner - talked us through all the ales and found something we each of us loved. Lovely building and bright, large restaurant area. Great food. Very reasonable prices. Well worth the effort cruising all the way up the River Ant just for this pub.
C. G.
If we could give this place 6 stars we would! Staff really friendly, helpful and catered to our every need. Would thoroughly recommend, lovely place and only a short walk from our boat which was moored in Neatishead Staithe.
S. L.
Some friends and myself ended up here over the weekend while floating around on the broads. What a fantastic find - can't believe I've not heard about this place. You can tell it's been pretty recently refurbed. Good combination of modern and old, as far as the buildings go. Excellent welcome - we arrived towards the end of service but they helpfully found a table for 7 pretty sharpish. Food was fantastic, all people with me (from Norfolk, Berkshire and Surrey) agreed. Great choice of ales, and other beers too, and well kept. Congrats to the management and staff, I'll definitely be coming again - with more friends too!
P. N.
Lovely country pub. Superb food and ale.. oh and us the gin. Lovely staff.
F.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food in this recently refurbished pub/restaurant. Dogs are allowed in the bar area where there are a small number of tables available for eating at. Many more tables in the restaurant section, although no dogs allowed there. Booking (especially if you have a dog) would seem to be essential.
J. P.
Lovely pub .nice staff. Nice menu however not huge food we have had here has always been hot and delicious. Quaint pub with lots of different areas to sit in from bar to snug to resturant well worth a visit
k. o.
After a long country walkit was lovely to stop here. The local ale was very good and the food was gorgeous.

B. P.
Another nice evening, great quality food, good service and lovely atmosphere, definitely recommended.
K. L.
A fabulous place to eat. Out of the way. But worth seeking out. Fantastic hospitality and friendly staff. A wide range of both beers and gins to tantalize any tastebuds. Try it you won't be disappointed.
T. P.
The staff have been friendly on the two occasions I've visited, once in summer 2010 and once in summer 2011. The food has been pretty standard pub fare, but well done. The nachos were amusingly plane - effectively some doritos with some grated cheese, but the goats cheese tart was very good and scampi didn't disappoint. The massively generous amounts of cream on the Belgium waffle brought a smile to my face too. Decent beer - not a huge selection - but Wherry is on tap, as is IPA and the usual lagers.
G. S.
A fantastic kayak pit stop for lunch. Amazing goats cheese pizza, great service and super COVID careful. 50% off as well today due to the gov eat out scheme.
A. E.
Really nice country pub. Got lucky with the weather with warm sunshine and able to have lunch in the garden.
Friendly staff and had a great homemade pizza!
V. H.
Great family meal. Loved the selection of find particularly the local one. Best of all we could take our dog with us. Highly recommend eating here.
S. D.
Lovely food, quick service. Blankets provided because we all have to eat out doors right now! Really pleasant, chatty staff.
A. Q.
A wonderful range of gins and accompanying tonics. The food was delicious (Gammon steak was one of the best I have ever had...) and with the restaurant full, service was still professional and attentive.
J. B.
Staff were very polite and respectful. Clean premises and most important delicious food and good beer. We walked about a mile in the rain to visit this establishment and were not didapointed.
A. W.
Lovely, friendly pub serving tasty food in a relaxed atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor tables a short walk from the Broad
A. W.
Excellent service and superb menu/food. The staff were really attentive and we enjoyed a really good evening with our 8 year old and puppy in tow! Loved it
W. I.
Good quality pub food (scampi and chips, burgers etc.) and reasonable portions and value for money.
Good lunchtime stop if you're out on the broads.
Pub itself has no frills and could do with a bit of TLC but friendly and efficient service;
A. F.
Very friendly, great food, reasonably priced. Amazing for gluten free, especially the pizzas.
S. H.
Nice pub with great range of local beers. Has a lovely feel and decor. Have also eaten here a few times and always enjoyed it
B. G.
Amazing all round good pub. Food is always delicious. I have had the ribeye steak and burger and both were delicious. Had breakfast last year and was perfect. You can take your dog into bar or snug room whilst eating. Loads and loads of ales available. Staff and locals really friendly. Couple mins walk from neatishead staithe moorings. Proper Norfolk pub. Ring up and book in advance if you want to eat in evening. Also if wanting to moor up try get there before 4pm as mooring gets full up by 4pm at weekends. Thanks... will return
Y. H.
We booked a table for 6 pm and still no drinks till at least 6.30 !!!!Lovely pub, sadly on our last visit staff seemed very disorganised and service slow. Small bar so even when its not that busy a long wait. Each member of staff was very nice but kept saying , I'll be with you in a minute!!! sadly much longer than a minute.
P. H.
I called into The Whitehorse Inn and was very pleased by the renovations and the feel of the pub. The staff were very good and attentative. We had a coffee and planned to return for lunch. When we returned I was disappointed at the number of dogs in the pub and was dismayed when four people with a Labrador each walked through the pub and left no room in the bar for other clients. I felt more relaxed to have a beer outside and forego the lunch. We will return but only if we can have a dog free zone.
T. C.
Great pub, lovely staff.Good food ,good choice of locally(own?) brewed beers.Great experience despite the understandable covid measures.Nice to be back in a pub again and this was a fab first time.
D. B.
After visiting a number of pubs on the broads, The White Horse was our favourite. Really well maintained, great range of beers and nice food. Even a 3oz steak for kids. I wish this was our local pub!
C. T.
Brilliant food. Excellent staff. Great atmosphere.
D. W.
We visited today and I have to say all staff were super. My wife's meal wasn't the best but the White Horse did provide a refund on her meal.
H. M.
We are new campers, what a little gem of a pub, fab food and great beer, staff friendly and attentive despite being very busy. We run a pub so can be critical but this place definitely deserves 5 stars x
M. C.
If you visit the broads you should visit The White Horse, a dog friendly pub that provides a great range of craft beers and Gins, great service and good food.
Situated in the charming village of Neatishead this is a pub you can sit have a relaxing drink or meal, with a small outdoor courtyard, many nooks to find inside the traditional bar area or a more formal dining room there is an option to suit all.
I highly recommend a visit.
E. C.
