Great place. The outdoor gazebo is super cool, and the vibe and atmosphere is super fun. The servers are lovely, a bit slow but to be expected on a Saturday night. Would reccomend for a visit, the food looks great but can't comment is it tastes good !!

My friend and I were in Norwich for the day and are so pleased we came across the Wig and Pen, we had a fabulous lunch, large portions, very reasonably priced. Staff were brilliant. Highly recommend.

Last minute choice for Sunday lunch. Service was exceptional with table service and hello with an allergy. Real ales on tap. Roast dinner looked great. Steak and ale pie very moreish. Desserts were even better - rhubarb and apple crumble had a toasty crunch topping and smooth custard. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended. We will be going back!

Found this Bar when just exploring Norwich. How pleased I was 😋 great range of Ales and Cider comfortable outside seating with smoking zone . Staff very polite and helpful , Ladies loo clean . Have the pie! If you love a thick pastry crust and a good and I mean good meaty filling. You will not be disappointed. You will be stuffed. The only decision is starter or sweet. You may be thinking both. Good luck with that if you don't want to waddle out of the door. Edit: We have just been back, and guess what. I had the pie. Only this time I asked for chips and beans with it instead of new potatoes and veg. This took the meal to a whole new level of pie heaven.

Stopped here for lunch and despite not having booked we were welcomed and offered a table straight away. A nice, relaxed atmosphere with friendly and efficient staff, portion sizes were generous and the price for both food and drinks was very reasonable, highly recommended.

Such a lovely pub! It is small inside, but luckily we went at a quiet time (7.30ish on a random Thursday) so had the back room to ourselves! Real ales were nice, good range of soft drinks and the food was great - nachos as a starter were delicious. Good selection of vegetarian options on the light bites menu which was nice. However, the real 5* rating is for the incredible service from the lovely bar and waiting staff (same person!) She was very attentive, very friendly and welcoming, just amazing customer service and food & drinks came really quickly. Loved it! Can't wait to come back on a warmer day and sit outside in the pleasant surroundings, although I bet I'll have to fight to get a table!

Everything about this place is amazing! The food was delicious. I had the steak and ale pie, which was home made, and full of meat. For dessert I had the honeycomb cheesecake, which had massive chunks of honeycomb on. The portions were generous, and the price was very reasonable. The service was also exceptional. A must visit, if you are in Norwich.

Good selection of beers and can get a little busy but staff are always friendly and great with service. Will most certainly be returning on many an occasion especially in the sun. Large outside area at the front for a drink and watch the world go by.

We are visiting the area & found on google, checking reviews. This Sunday Roast far exceeds any roast Beef & Yorky pudd I have had in years. The staff are friendly & courteous and overall giving excellent service.

It's a beautiful, traditional looking pub serving a good selection of ales, beers and wines. It's just that little bit of a walk away from the hustle and bustle of Tombland and Wensum Street that makes it a little bit quieter, and so is a lovely place for a pint and a catch-up with friends, as opposed to shouting at each other over the top of imposingly loud music. The food is excellent; reasonably priced, great quality, and a pretty fast service. The staff here are also lovely and a credit to the business, always welcoming and friendly no matter how busy they seem. There's a nice little space to sit outdoors, with adequate seating and heating too. It's only a shame there's not much of a view in the outdoor area, but there's little that can be done about that!.

I popped in for a drink last Friday after having a meal in a local restaurant. Friendly bar staff and very lively as a party was going on. After leaving to catch a taxi I discovered my phone was missing so retraced my steps to find it. After alerting the guy at door about loosing my phone he alerted the management team who then swiftly turned the music off so my phone could be rung to allow me to hear!! My phone I actually had left in the restaurant but the management team and bar staff could not do enough to help so I went back to inform them the next day again they were very welcoming. The next time I visit Norwich I will certainly go back there. Thank you so much everyone.

Thursday 15th April. OK, considering the situation , I don't find eating and drinking out much fun at present , it was a social meeting with friends who I hadn't seen for 18 months, I do appreciate its very tough for pubs at present and challenging for staff , all the young girls were excellent very polite , the gentleman however I found a little sarcastic and rude as if he really didn't want to be there .

We stopped for lunch and drinks with our 6 month old daughter and friend, but we have been coming here for a few years and the service and staff are consistently friendly, helpful and welcoming. I had a duck breast special which was cooked perfectly and it's hard to get it right in most places! While the guys had the famous door stop sandwiches which were gobbled up. Would always recommend to family and friends and continue coming.

Near the Cathedral is probably as well known for its food as well as a range of real ales. It's menu covers all tastes from generous sandwiches to full meals and daily specials. Six real ales are complimented with a range of craft beer. Can get busy when live sport is showing.

I love this place and went here on the trail of the man with an orange for a head. The wig and pen is very popular amongst those who have citrus fruit for heads. It's handy for the court. When the man with an orange for a head was doing Jury duty he spent a lot of time in this pub. This is in part due to the fact that the man with an orange for a head has an almost supernatural ability to look people in the eye and compel them to tell the truth. In the week he did jury duty over one hundred people just decided to admit guilt, which largely rendered him redundant as a jurer but gave him all the time in the world to get wankered on cheap cider which is a vital part of legal process...
