After walking from ilkeston, I decided this would be a great place to stop off. I wasn't disappointed either.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food was well presented and tasted great.
Great atmosphere too.
Fantastic beer garden too when the weather permits!

We decided to stop off here on our way back from Birmingham and it doesn’t disappoint as a lovely country pub. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is a lot of the food was out of stock and not all craft ales on the menu were sold at the bar. There was on older lady behind the till who had a bit of an attitude but to be honest I think she was just fed up because they seemed short staffed. There is a lovely quiet area to sit outside and nice traditional seating inside.

Nice pub located in Strelley Village out the way. Large beer garden and car park. Has guest ales on tap that change frequently. Nice friendly atmosphere and service. Great pub to visit for a pint after a walk. Went for food and drink this evening with a friend. Food was excellent value for money and very tasty. Excellent friendly service. Will definitely return.

I strolled past this pub on the way from Strelly and just had to go in for a simple meal and a pint. Atmosphere and food did not disappoint me!

Great Little Pub with a very large Garden and play area for the kids.
Went to this place for a few drinks was greeted by Alan who took me to a table and took my drinks order. The drinks arrived very quickly and then Alan offered to take a food order. I wasn't eating on this occasion but have eaten here in the past and always had the Sunday roast which I do enjoy.
Thanks for the great service Alan.

Definitely one of the best pubs in Nottingham Excellent customer service, very friendly staff.

Went here for late Sunday lunch, was spot on. They were really busy, told us there would be a wait, which was fine as we knew when we ordered. Food was great, proper yorkies, nice veg etc.
Lots of choice of hand pulled beers. Has the feel of a proper pub.
10/10 would use again 👍
R. H.
Lovely place, a nice quiet place to have a drink or something to eat. It's also dog friendly and there is even a place to tie your horse. Well worth a visit, I know they have bingo and football is shown here too.
S. C.
Not too busy today. Pleasant atmosphere. Food was good. I had scampi and chips which went down well. Nothing left on the plate. Friend had steak and ale pie and again remarked that it was lovely
M. H.
Very friendly and attentive staff. good atmosphere.....food very well cooked and presented...
only downside was the long waits in between courses.... would definitely go again and recommend.

Just dropped in for a drink after a long walk. Staff were friendly and the service was very good. Lovely pub with a magnificent Oak tree at the front.
D. H.
Good grub, good selection of beers and spirits, friendly staff in a nice, picturesque off the beaten track pub. One of my favourite pubs for a special occasion. Lots of seating outside for hot summer days and a watering hole for dogs. Plenty of parking and lovely camera shots of the old Oak which I am amazed is still in one piece. I would have given 5 stars but there was at least 7 dogs inside smelly and barking. I'm afraid dogs should not be near to a food environment. Hygiene ????
A. W.
Beers good. Food OK but not great. . Long wait times for food. Friendly staff.
M. S.
Lovely pub, friendly staff 🙂
They host a Music Quiz at 7.30pm on a Tuesday night, with a few games of Sticky 13's, could win yourself some cash or a Greene King gift card, it's a good laugh !!
(you need to bring cash to pay for quiz/games, £1/person for each)

Got shown to a table straight away.
The lady seated us and told us she would be right back to take our drink order.............
14mins later, she came back to take our drink order, and got on with it.
The pub wasn't busy, but it took that long.
From there on, everything was brilliant, food was well presented, hot, fresh and lovely.
Still loved my 1st time there, and I would go again
A. M.
Martina was so lovely and welcoming, Peter the chef was absolutely class. Some of the best food I've ever had at a Greene king!
J. M.
Nice to be in such a good community pub. Whatever you want it's got it: good beer, friendly staff, entertainment but not too much and a well thought out, food menu
S. S.
Lovely pub, cook amazing food as always been coming here since I was in bugging with my family highly recommend
J. B.
Food was good but took way to long but we were a party of 22 staff were friendly but not enough of them.
L. C. R.
A nice pub although a franchise. Staff were really helpful and the beer was lovely after a nice long walk
S. N.
Great pub, amazing food and a great selection of drinks... Very friendly staff and it's dog friendly.
We go here atleast once a week after a long walk in the park 5 minutes away.

Beautiful, relaxing pub 😎 Sat outside for drinks and a snack 😋 Will definitely try to return.

The staff really make this place, service is excellent. The food is always good and a great choice of beers.
S. “.
Nice inside and has potential outside but needs some TLC to make it more appealing
Playground available
G. F.
Had a very nice Sunday roast dinner. Nice friendly staff too.

Food was OK. Menu a bit underwhelming. Lovely location and surroundings though.
J. S.
Great food and great staff really enjoyed our visit

Visited this pub on Friday evening just on the edge of the village, What a great little pub. It was very busy in the evening on entering the pub I was greeted by a member of the team very quickly who asked if I had a booking. I explained that I had just popped in on the off chance as I had just moved in to the area and was told that this wasn't a problem . Alan explained that there was a table available and showed me to the table also explaining that I could place an order at the table or the bar or by using the green king app. I placed my order at the table and my drinks was quickly brought to my table.
there was a few members of staff walking around the pub talking to other customers I dont normally see this in the other venues I have visited.
the service I received from Alan was great. on leaving the venue he came over to me to say good evening and hoped I would return soon.
With service like this I will defiantly be back .
D. H.
Great place, good atmosphere and delicious food.
D. S.
This is a really nice pub set in a lovely location, it has a great outside space to the front and back with a park for kids and loads of seating. It also serves food and bar snacks, the staff and prices are also really nice. There is also really good car parking facilities and its not far from public transport either.
T. K.
Alan has always been very accommodating and most helpful. Great local pub.
J. S.
A gem of a pub made even more special with the warmest of welcomes and outstanding service given by all staff but especially Allan.
Z. M.
Excellent food and drinks. Ive been coming here for years and would reccomend either bringing your girlfriend or friends down for some food or drinks. Food is fresh and really nice and the beers are great too. Would like to give a huge shout out to Matt. Such a friendly and lovely character. Will go out the way to help out as much as possible.
M. W.
I want to say thank you for hospitality we received at The Wake which was held on Monday 18th October, my thanks go to all the staff and Shannon was exceptionally polite and welcoming. The food supplied was brilliant and tasty. Thank you for all the empathy you showed to my Dad.
G. S.
I went there today with my family we were visiting my brother and sister in law and decided to have dinner there. It is s lovely place the food was very tasty and the service was brilliant that is why I gave it five stars
R. L.
Great food
Service with a smile
And great company
B. P.
This pub had a nice atmosphere for a brewery owned pub. It was a bit standardised inside but the outside has a lot of character. Staff highly encouraged the use of an app to order drinks but mobile signal was very limited which did make the process quite slow.
J. C.
A traditional pub in a very pleasant village dog friendly. Lovely beer garden.
G. R.
Had a very nice Alabama burger in the garden. Wait was a little on the long side, about 35-40mins. Staff were nice and helpful. Grass very patchy and a bit messy but its a nice location with a kids play area.
T. C.
Only popped for one drink lovely pub. Would definitely like to return for an evening
J. S.
Amazing new menu, it was such a treat!!! The salt and pepper squid and the fish tacos truely amazing !!! Went in with the family today and the both the GM and AM made us feel very welcome !! Can’t wait to get back and try the rest of the new menu. Thanks for the great service Maria and Amy
E. V.
Met up for lunch with a friend, my first meal out since Lockdown #1. The staff were friendly and the service was good. The food was nice enough but there were so many things on the menu that were out of stock....the flavour of no alcohol cider I wanted, the mixed grill, the mash and the pudding my friend wanted. If it hadn't been for those things I would have given an extra star!
L. W.
Amazing food real nice place and dog friendly
D. C.
Visited yesterday for long overdue catch up with family. This is not a review about the food but the 3 members of staff who were on duty, two young men and a young lady. Pub was packed both in the beer garden and inside. The staff never stopped in over 3 hours, the young man running from table to table with drinks, food, disposable menus etc but they still found the time en route back to clear empty glasses from our table. They were polite, helpful and professional under extremely difficult circumstances and are an asset to the company. Thank you for all your hard work yesterday and making our visit more enjoyable through all of your effort. A real credit to the company once again a huge thank you from someone who is seldom impressed. What brilliant workers all three of them x
D. B.
Lovely place, nice atmosphere and good food.

We booked lunch at The Broad oak and had such a fabulous time I felt compelled to share our absolutely 5 star afternoon. The staff were amazing and we (a family party of 4) were made to feel both welcome and valued as customers. We were greeted beautifully by Amber who was very professional and yet as friendly as an old friend. Nothing was toi much and she gave great advice on the food available with her personal recommendations which were spot on! The food was perfectly cooked with 5 star quality it was so moreish. The liver and onions had a home cooked confort feeling and the scampi was so perfect the best I've ever had. The soup was Michelin standard with the exact right spiciness. We were so impressed we thanked the chef in person and she was an amazingly caring person who explained everything we wanted to know, we even asked for her recipes. The manager, Maria gave great advice on the oub and was so knowledgeable about the trade we were so happy to meet her. Matt gave us good advice in the drinks available and service was so quick and friendly we had a great time there. If you want to be treated well, feel safe with excellent social distancing without feeling restricted you should go the Broad Oak, Strelley. You will feel like its a home from home with extras. I highly recommend the Broad Oak for a friendly welcome with 5 star treatment and high quality food.
M. H.

D.
Amazing pub amazing staff amazing food came from Leeds on a ghost Hunt needed food first loved it
V. C.
Very pleasant and helpful staff and the food was excellent
G. B.
Meals were good standard and size. Prices reasonable stuff polite and prompt. Covid systems seem to work. Only issue member of staff came chasing out the
Building to our
Car saying we hadn't paid the
Bill but monies taken immediately after placing the order to secure
it on the app. Mumbled apogy as he left us swiftly embarrassing to say the least.
B. S.
Good honest food. Can eat in or ourside in the pub garden under the oak trees. They also do take away if you prefer. You can order at your table and pay with the app. Dog friendly establishment. Definitely going back again.
P. D.
Visited the weekend beer festival. It was very good and the range of beers was excellent, in good condition. Lovely atmosphere. A nice family friendly place.
M. B.
Absolutely lovely staff. This place is great for families and or friends for either a drinking session or a very good quality meal. This pub as sections so for romance in one part, drinking around the bar or in the other bit with the kids. It has seeding outside, they don't mind well behaved dogs either.
D. A.
Some of the vegetables were to hard to eat, but other than that not to bad. Staff very pleasant.
j. m.
Another great meal.Usualy there once a week.
V. W.
It was great to be back in this lovely pub. The food was good and the service excellent. The only downside is my kid I'd allergic to wheat and the limited menu means we can't bring her at the moment.
J. Y.
Great deals for lunch cosy + warm
A. M. (.
Nice friendly Pub quick service got children's play area around the back with with nice surroundings and nice country walk up the road after your drink and food🙂
L. D.
Very friendly went with my doggy we sat in the bar for food. When food came waiter asked if I wanted some water for my doggy he brought her a bowl of water. Highly recommended. Very dog friendly nice family meal out always friendly and helpful staff! Highly recommended!!!
S. H.
Unfortunately it seems that at lunchtime this pub tries to operate on minimum staff resulting in well above average waiting times for food. This also means that when it arrives some of the food is warm at best. Also the steak deals on a Thursday use very inferior meat . A great shame because we have had some great meals here in the past.
A. P.
In a party of five, food was good, but due to staff shortages it took a while to arrive, so only 4 stars given. Staff that were avaible were very busy.
E. N.
Lovely place to sit for a quiet pint. Our new local for a Wednesday night whilst our daughter is at cubs. We enjoy our mini dates. 2 pints, no phone time, just a lovely chat in a brilliantly relaxed atmosphere.
z.
Great place with a good pint at reasonable prices.
Plenty of out door seating that is great in the sunshine.
The app for orders works very well.
S. M.
Nice location, great beer.
A. C.
Took my wife for her birthday and our wedding anniversary lunch and it was magnificent , the staff were friendly and the service was second to none the food was delicious . 👍👍🍺🍺
A. P.
They've got a big garden which is what you need right now but I think they'd underestimated how many people would turn up cos there was a long wait for drinks. Staff battled on valiantly though so it was good
A. T.
Food very average poorly cooked ,pies very hard pastry. Atmosphere and staff very good and service food well what can l say you get what you pay for .
M. V.
Went with my wife on recommendation for a weeknight meal out. Was exactly what we were after. Pleasant atmosphere. Good quality pub food (both had different pies with seasonal veg, just right). Staff were friendly and helpful without hassling. Noticed the stock of high chairs... Chatted for a long time with coffee and cake afterwards. We are likely to return.
s. s.
Went for food with a friend, hardly anything on the menu was available.
Opted for a vegetarian curry which came out cold, without chips that'd i asked for.
Came out freezing cold so they did me another but was reheated as the naan bread was hard😂 not the best food.
But a lovely pub amd the staff are lovely too.
A. J.
Always liked it there however they stopped the monthly Tamla and Motown night always on a Saturday. It was a great atmosphere you could dance and meet people who loved this kind of music. Was very disappointed to learn about this when I rang up to check. I can't say a lot about the food for it's not as good as it used to be. I used to look forward to going there. If you like sitting about all night and don't mind listening to piped music this is the place to be. One good thing is dogs are welcome if they behave themselves. Not all the customers like dogs. I was there with my little dog and you could see by these peoples faces they weren't liking it. They were there with their children. and there was a bad atmosphere drifting over. My little Talula loves people and children. She was well behaved and couldn't understand why she was getting the cold shoulder.
V. M.
Went for lunch today.it was lovely.shannon and matt looked after us as we had not been before.service great and oap menu plenty of food.will go again soon.nice to sit in garden listening to birds..excellent
J. S.
Nice place to stop while out walking to dog
A. D.
Greene King chain but nice feel of a good local pub. Just off the main road but down a country lane so feels nice and rural. Airy inside, nice outside space. Good food. Friendly staff.
C. S.
It was outdoor dining at the moment but it's well organised with waiter service with good pub grub ,beer is served and the staff were great
E. A.
1sf day of opening after lockdown me and my fiance dined outside in the pleasant sunshine the staff was on the boil couldn't do enough this pub is so nice and the food was lovely been a few times and has always been top notch.
L. M.
Really friendly staff and a great vibe inside. It was very clean, smelt good and was filled with a nice mix of people.
The food there is OK. I had fish and chips: it certainly had a homemade quality which was pleasant but it was lacking any umph, something you'd expect for almost £9.
I'd recommend the Broad Oak to anyone for a light lunch and a drink.
J. O.
Great food and the staff were amazing. Would highly recommend this pub
J. A.
Used to come here with family when I was younger and hasn't changed much. Very stereotypical English pub, good pub food and nice selection of beer. Can be loud for families though, but that is expected. In the garden they have a nice trim trail and a child friendly space, so great for the summer
R. G.
Bar staff was really good. Had a loyalty card from earlier this year and was allowed to carry it on. At one point a reserve sign was put on table next to ours and then it seemed that that table took over the whole area..
C. T.
Lovely visit today, we were able to use the app to order our food and had amazing friendly staff looking after us. Food was spot on. Happy customers..
K. C.
We visited for lunch and it wasn't very busy and so we thought nice quick service or so we thought. Staff were friendly and helpful but it took about 40mins for salads??and to top it off we ordered the pasta salads, but they didn't have any pasta??! But still charged us the same. The meat was nice but for the price I wouldn't rush back.
S. M.
Very good , nice food pleasant staff, highly recommended.
g. a.
Really enjoyed our meal and the staff were lovely. Will definitely be going back.
B. B.
Don't be put off by the bits of jaded fabric of this old pub. The food is a crowd pleaser's family style menu, reasonably priced, which usually means "what do you expect for the price". But the quality of the food and speed of service was really good. The beers were were OK but the cider range increadable, mostly from one producer mind. But it was enough to make us tarry for longer than we expected :cheers for a great afternoon!
F. M.
I was treated disrespectfuly by senior bar staff who made no effort to hide the fact they were annoyed to have serve me, lightly mocked me and complained about sorting change. I was made me feel uncomfortable and I felt looked down upon/treated with suspicion because of my young age - not in terms of wether I was of legal age I have no problem with that - but felt like I was treated as guilty or likely to cause problems even after we were all ID checked simply because there was a group of us and we were young. We were not made to feel welcome. If the bad attitude during bar service was not from a senior member of staff maybe I could understand better. Also, the bad attitude was present from the moment we walked in so I cannot see how there was any issue we could have caused as customers. We sat outside and kept to ourselves. So no, nothing you can do to improve my rating. Poor service = bad customer experience = low star rating.
D. F.
Enjoyed a family meal. Price reasonable. Food hot and tasty, served quickly by friendly staff. One minor complaint - they offer Black Sheep beer. Nothing with the word "Sheep" in it should be served in a Nottingham pub.
C. J.
Good rural location on West side of Nottingham with some excellent very accessible public paths to please walkers/runners/cyclists. The pub serves reasonably priced food - our Wednesday running group returned for three Wednesdays in a row and no complaints about the food. It can get busy at times. There are plenty of staff to look after the food side but more staff needed to serve behind the bar and to take food orders when busy.
P. S.
This is an old pub in the village of Strelley which retains many of its old original things and has quite a history going back a few centuries. It is a comfortable friendly place with a varied menu and meal deals which are very acceptable to your budget. At the front of the pub is a very broad Oak after which it is named and makes a super place to sit out in summer. The whole setting of the place is completely rural and relaxing.
D. P.
Still as good and just as friendly pub great staff great food and 🍺 menu's.
R. P.
My party consisted of 9, 5 adults,1 teenager and 3 under 4's. All tastes were catered for. Service was good. All staff were very pleasant. Food was very good. In my opinion also very reasonably priced.
D. H.
When we arrived it had clearly been busy as there were no clean tables. We sat at a table as a waitress was busy clearing a nearby table and expected here to clear our table next as there were few other around. This didn't happen and other tables were cleared decide ours. When you go out for a family meal with the kids you don't want them putting their hands on dirty tables. Food was ok.
S. H.
Excellent food, friendly staff, good atmosphere.
Will certainly be back.
J. M.
Lovely old pub, nice out door seating too. Definitely coming back
D. H.
I find the Broad Oak to be a very quaint English pub and restaurant indeed. The staff are pleasant, efficient and the food very satisfying. There is ample car parking, beautiful countryside views and a great outdoor play area for the children. Prices are very reasonable, a place I would recommend to friends and family alike.
A. H.
A lovely old local pub which serves great tasty hot & cold meals with very poilte staff. However I must say we could smell the gents toilets in the dinning area. Hopefully this was just a one off day..? Maybe tell your cleaner to check them more regular.
d.
Food has gone down hill over cooked and not much taste , understaffed they worked so hard and more staff needed for a bank holiday. Positive the lady and gent were friendly, polite and professional even though there were quiet large queues at times they kept there cool.
P. D.
Food was good but took forever to arrive. Half the items on the menu was unavailable.
S. W.
pleasant staff couldn't be more friendly food was first class waiter service and drinks brought to your table really enjoyed our meal and drinks and a fantastic chef complements to all who work there
g. b.
friendly masked polite staff covid sensibly in place and beer kept well. sat outside well distanced and served with four horses and riders enjoying the day a real blast from the past.
L. S.
Great place friendly staff only problem is the green king app you order and it don't through to inside all the time so you have to get staff to sort it lol app needs fixing or doing away with
S. H.
Great Saturday evening with friends. Service was excellent and atmosphere lovely
r. l.
Food not great. I had gammon egg and chips and eggs were over cooked so returned the meal. Staff however ar3 very nice and pleasant. Its also dog friendly.
J. M.
The pub is in the beautiful setting of Strelley village. It really is in need of a refurb...
Quite run down and toilets were shocking. Think it could be lovely if it was done up. OK if you want to drop by for a quick drink after a long walk through the countryside.
G. H.
We used to come for meals often but feel now the serve is poor.Staff never smile.. Definitely not value for your money adult plate is more like a childs.
S. M.
Really nice area out the back with play area for children, food was good atmosphere was nice . Staff are really friendly and helpful
C. H.
Food is usually very good, however on a few occasions they have been out of the items that we were wanting to order. Staff are always friendly and always get service with a smile. If not for items being out of stock, this would have been a 5 star.
D. K.
Hot sunny day, bank holiday would of expected more than 2 serving at bar. Food didnt take too long to come out although staff only put through 1 childs meal so that was disappointing.
E. K.
The only pub in the village of Strelley recent makeover it does good food and drinks in a nice atmosphere. Very welcoming to dogs and ramblers along with the odd ferret. Only downside is a common theme with pubs and in remote locations the prices are slightly expensive for food and drink.
M. S.
Meals tend to change drastically in quality from visit to visit but, they seem to be improving the overall quality. Friendly staff as well as nice outdoor seating, dogs allowed inside and outside.
P.
Afternoon tea cheese and pickle sandwich and chicken wasn't the best but it wasn't expensive either. Would pay more for better sarnies.
R. K.
We picked a quiet time and had a good meal at a fair price. The staff were friendly and looked after us. Will go there again.
C. W.
Reviewed the Wrong place! Let me start again by saying The Broad Oak is a lovely Family settlement with brilliant Ale, food and beautiful customer service.
k. j.
Toilets could be much better! Very disappointing when everywhere else is so well kept.
B. C.
Lovely staff, polite and friendly and the food and service was good as well.
