Amazing atmosphere and lovely aesthetic. The staff are lovely and the food is even more so and comes out in no time at all!
I would definitely recommend it to all families and friends outings!

A pleasant experience.😊
Basically we wanted to walk in the Sherwood Pines but it was closed 😐 so we decided to pay a visit to Burnt Stump and have a drink and bite.
Location:
The pub is located next to Burntstump County Park🌳 which is worth to visit on normal weather conditions. It has a nice free carpark just in front of the building.
It is a well designed and good looking place with a pleasant atmosphere. On top of that it is doggo friendly. 😊
Waiting Staff:
As soon as we entered the building a kind waitress showed us to our table and gave us the Sunday menu.
In the bar where we ordered, the gentleman with the blue shirt took our order. He had an excellent knowledge about the food and drinks.
Food and drinks:
We ordered a nachos to share. It was lovely to see that the cheese was melted not like other places where the cheese is burnt and solid. The jalapenos gave a nice kick however bigger portions of dip especially guacamole would have been appreciated.
The Buttermilk chicken goujons were delicious and we'll presented. The BBQ sauce was incredible.

We don't live locally but decided to call in for a meal after a commitment nearby. The fact that the pub was dog friendly was a massive factor for us as at the time we had our dog with us.
The food was really good quality for the price, it was quite busy with it being a Saturday but we were seated quickly. The staff were lovely and friendly and kept our dogs belly full as well with regular treats. We would definitely call again.

Went here with my family and Nan to have a family dinner.
The atmosphere was lovely as ever, the staff were super helpful and polite.
Food was great, there was a funny incident with a piece of scampi but this was quickly sorted. We've been coming to The Burnt Stump for years and it's never let us down yet.
Cannot wait to come back again for a great evening

Great menu. I had the sausage and mash. It was lovely. My husband had the gammon which he described as very tasty with chips that were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Our friend had the fish and chips. They were tasty and plentiful.

Birthday meal for our son so booking for 12, table was ready when we arrived so we were greeted & seated immediately, once we were settled our food orders were taken. Our whole order was brought out together which was excellent service, food was delicious & on a 2 for 1 deal prices were more than reasonable especially for the quality of food.
Great family gathering, lovely atmosphere with excellent service from all staff.
Highly recommended we will certainly be returning.

My husband and I had popped in for a lunchtime meal, and found a table in a quiet area, which suited us so we could chat.
Unfortunately we realised that the music was rather loud and so I asked a waitress if there was a chance that the volume could be turned down.
She was extremely obliging, and even came to check if we were happy with the lowered volume,.
We were then delighted to find she was our serving staff.
She continued to be smiley, friendly, and I would say an exceptionally kind and efficient member of staff.
I would definitely rate Jade 5/5 - and thank you for making our lunchtime a positive experience .

Really busy so had to go to bar for table. Was met by Emma who was friendly and helpful. Food was great, plenty of it and wonderfully cooked. The grilled tomato was epic and I'm not even a vegan 😁.
G. S.
Not been here for a while but the service and food was excellent. Very tasty food, friendly and polite staff and clean tables.
Nothing bad to say at all.
Will definitely visit again.
Thank you to everyone working to make this pub the nice place that it is.

One of my favourite places to come when the sun's out! The service was good, food was great and the new look in the bar/ restaurant looks great. Two for one is always a bonus, and even if you on your own can still use it for the dessert, which by the way are so good. Oh plus, bring the dog if you got one!
A. M.
Staff were very friendly and helpful - food was average in my opinion. Most of us had Sunday Roast (beef & chicken) which was ok. Kids meals were fine. My wife had hunters chicken which she said was dry.
C. B.
Decent food and good value with the 2-for-1 offer. Very helpful in changing side orders for us and bringing extras out. Attractive surroundings and plenty of dogwatching to do while we waited.
E. L.
We've just had a lovely meal, (and it's two for one on mains today!) We're sitting in the very relaxed lounge area, looking out onto the cricket pitch. It's toasty warm in here, the wifi is fab and the staff are so friendly. What more could you want from your afternoon?
K. W.
Had the Sunday roast for first time chicken was slightly to dry for my tasting but otherwise lovely place with lots of choice
J. E.
Absolutely fantastic experience for my girlfriend and me, the food was perfect and reasonably priced, the drinks were cool, refreshing and well priced! the atmosphere was chilled and not too noisy, which was different yet extremely pleasant for a Saturday evening. The staff were exceptionally helpful especially Bob and Jade who were both very clear and polite, everyone we spoke too had a smile on their face and made us both feel welcomed and valued, 5/5 definitely recommend!

Very friendly staff good clean venue. Food is delicious. Didn’t have to wait a long time for food it came within 20 minutes of ordering.
M.
Gastro pub and not got the drinking area as before, so a bit limited for just drinking. Its a good pub for warm summer days to sit outside as there is a park and some woodland you can walk around. I can't comment on food as never eaten there.
A. L.
Always lovely staff and decent food.
Good value when 241 however can be a bit annoying when where’s a single eater and you don’t want to substitute a meal for a pudding.
Great outdoor space. Always the place to be in the summer.
Perfect place to catch up between Mansfield and Notts.
H. L.
Really polite staff and amazing food plates where clear was a really enjoyable experience
K. S.
It was very busy on the day we went, but the food was quickly bought to the table.
More gravy was asked for and this too was bought quickly.
My two young grandsons enjoyed the experience too

Welcoming pub/restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. We were served by Jade who was well organised and attentive. Beautiful surroundings to walk around after enjoying a great dinner. Would recommend.

Splendid location. Great garden area overlooking some picturesque countryside and dog friendly. The two stars are lost for the chaotic service I experienced behind the bar this lunchtime. Four bar staff standing behind the bar with a queue of customers including me, watching them faffing around over the “we’ve run out of glasses” issue. Completely ignoring the waiting customers and focusing on an issue a well run pub should presumably not have to face. Run out of glasses?? Like Subway running out of bread or the London Underground running out of tubes..
i. m. (. m.
Lovely food and staff, all fresh and cooked properly. Was fast service and got a table quickly. Was clean and tidy and staff were helpful
M. S.
The food was OK. Which is a shame, because for the money, I'd have expected it to be really good, not just ok.
We felt rushed by the staff from the onset. I wouldn't say staff were rude, but they definitely wasn't friendly. We hadn't even finished our meals when we had the bill placed on our table.
Again, it was ok but we won't be in a hurry to return unfortunately.
C. D.
Great family fun outside Park for the kids. Seating for the parents. Loads of room for a kick about. then you can have reasonable priced food after. You can pre book a table for food and drinks.
T. H.
Lovely place to have a meal or just a drink. Theres a great field to exercise your dogs at the back. Nice friendly staff too.
P. B.
Good choice on menu but seemed bit expensive for buy 2 get cheapest meal free felt like each meal was priced too high.
But food and staff were great!
J. S.
Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend and two members of staff behind the bar means queue at times was near the entrance and a long wait to be served. Not the fault of the bar staff as they do their best but it always seems to be this way 🤷♂️
s. c.
Fantastic place! Great atmosphere as well. Didn’t book a table but staff still managed to seat us. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
l. c.
We had a nice family meal at Burnstump, service was good and food nice and hot. The menu could do with improving for vegetarians as there is not a lot of choice, perhaps quorn sausage, quorn chicken and quorn mince options being available so meals could either be neat options or vegetarian options.
C. F.
Love The Burnt Stump, came here on Christmas Eve and have always been back since! Lovely food, lovely service! Kind bar staff, we had Ethan today. Highly recommend! :)
A. L.
The food was of high quality and very enjoyable.
Also got a reduction on the price of the main meal.
A very enjoyable experience.
W. G.
Bar service was quick and efficient - table of 7 outside inches outdoor bar under one of the patio heaters - food arrived quick and hot 🔥 - fab couple hours with friends

Nice part day out.Good general walking.Great place for dogs.Nice pub.But carnt get snacks. But full menus very good
G. K.
Our table was reserved and soon escorted to the table. We went for the two steaks and bottle of wine deal. However the steaks were both tough and chewy. We won’t be havithose again.
M. A.
Good food with veggi/vegan/gf options available, lovely staff members and dog friendly seats available too… can’t really ask for more. Brilliant! Thanks for the good times x
N. S.
Brilliant service, the new owner has really got it nice now, staff smiley and friendly there was 23 of us and most of them was kids, the service was great all our meals came out together all hot, was lovely all the kids had crayons and colouring pages nothing was too much.
M. S.
Good food, great service. Food timed perfectly and quick. Child's main with our starter and his desert exactly same time as our main. Makes it easy with toddlers.
N. S.
Great food, party of 12 service was great greeted well, very accommodating, food came out all together hot and well presented
Brilliant guys keep it up, loads better now they have new staff and management
p.
For a starter, £4.95 for about 6 mushrooms is not worth the money, you should see for yourself. The main, a mixed grill, was a portion of uncooked peas along with two onion rings, chips and two fried eggs. The actual mixed grill was a beef burger, two sausages, a raw piece of stake; that really was raw, and not undercooked, another piece of unidentifiable meat, with a portion of gamon that may as well have been a horse lick, and finally, a piece of chicken that was that dry, it could probably drink more than me. When we spoke with the waiter, who was very friendly, he went to speak with the manager, who offered us a free £4.95 dessert, for a £22.75 mixed grill. Other than this, the other two meals were fantastic, and we recieved amazing service.
P. M.
The food we had was ok but once again there was no lasagna and various other mains plus the desert menu was again limited due to choice.
K. B.
Good place to have a drink and eat. Quite busy for a Tuesday. Seem to have lots of events coming up to.
G.
50th birthday celebration at the location which was a great occasion. With friendly. Helpful staff, good food. Wines and beers and a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
m. s.
After a cold wet walk around the country park, We had a lovely lunch. The pub was very warm and welcoming. The service was fast and the food was excellent. We really enjoyed our visit to the burnt stump.😊

Great time on our Wedding Reception
Very cosy setting and good service
Food was good and value for Money. We had our wedding reception there and the staff there was very accommodating. They did a final touch by given us a wedding card and they went through great lengths to make sure we were served on time . I definitely would recommend them to anyone doing a function.
We went back on 14th February 2018 for the occasion as they also put a special valentine's meal menu 3 courses for 2 people for £30.00 .
However the sections for Starters and Desserts were misleading as our Bill came to more than expected
It would have been better to highlight the fact that If you pick the option of sharing that you pay more than £30.00
K. C.
Great food, quick service, relatively cheap, plus a lovely relaxed atmosphere with a local woodland walk
C. B.
Polite and friendly staff. Our food arrived quickly (nice and hot!) after ordering, and was very good - Enjoyed our meal here!
C. L.
Really enjoyed our trip here. We were aiming for Matlock but it was hit by a sudden downpour of snow. So we decided to stop here for a walk with the furbabies and food. Nice walk with a well defined path. Not massive but good enough. Do friendly pub, felt very comfortable. Food was plentiful and tasty. Would definitely use again. Recommended
J. B.
Lovely park & woods. Great for children and dog walking. However I just wish the people responsible for emptying the rubbish bins especially near the pub would do so. Visited today on a Wednesday so not even a bank holiday time and the bins are over flowing not pleasant at all! Sadly the rubblish collection seems an on going problem at what is a lovely area to visit and walk in.
J. H.
Food was nice and location lovely
D. Q.
Lovely Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.
Only downside was from some other diners throwing their toys out of the pram because previous bookings left tables late.
Staff went above and beyond under extremely difficult circumstances.👍
D. K.
Staff were attentive and polite,
Food was great value and we had good portion sizes.
Would recommend.

Harrison helped with our booking for a large family meal for my sons 1st birthday. From arriving to leaving we were well looked after. Always checking everything was OK for us and nothing was too much trouble.Meals were brought out promptly despite being for so many of us and all cooked perfectly.Everyone enjoyed their meal and said they would be booking here for their occasions too.
M. C.
Amazing friendly staff, first time we have been here for a walk around the park and decided to stay for food, everyone was so welcoming and the service standards were fantastic, would definitely recommend!
l. b.
A nice and pleasure experience, nice food and quick service at the table with the app.
R. S.
Great food, quick service, relatively cheap, plus a lovely relaxed atmosphere with a local woodland walk nearby. Would definitely recommend their gorgeous chocolate crownie!
s. b.
Great welcome as always. Jade our waitress was really helpful. Good always good quality and great price.

We are dog trainers and look for dog friendly facilities where we can train pets to settle in real settings, we have stopped by for lunch with some of our customers and its beautiful backs on to a great field too! Perfect for the pooches
s. s.
Lovely food, fast service and friendly atmosphere. Definitely be going back and highly recommend.

Great food & service for a chain.
Popped in as the Hut had run out of meat!!
More than pleased, will definitely return & recommend!!!
We done guys
P. S.
Really tasty food, not sure I'd pay the money for the size of portion it was if not 2 for 1. Nice and friendly Staff
E.
Great quality and a good price for the mains.
We visited on a friday around 4pm
We visited here last week with our 3year old son. There are two menus, the standard table menu and the speciality board. We ordered from the menu (pie for my wife. Kofta and salad for me and pasta surprise(hidden vegetables) for my son. The pie was good, the kofta and salad were amazing. It has been our experience that the true tell of a place is the children's menu. Often it is cheap, mass produced packet food that is often tasteless and poor quality. I am pleased to say that my son's meal was of equal quality to ours, the three of us shared the whole meal and enjoyed every bite. Sadly though the meal was not perfect. As often happens we fell for the temptation of the deserts. Where as the main meal was amazing, the deserts were quantity over quantity. Although perfectly well made and at home in most generic pubs, these deserts fell flat next to the main.
So. Starters were nice
Mains were amazing
Deserts fell flat
Coffee matched genuine italian coffee
On a side note, the field behind the pub is a nice place to walm around after a meal
M. M.
Perfect lunch time meal with family. Top class service and food. Highly recommended.
k. b.
Quieter than I expected with there being a bit of sunshine. Had a nice walk through the woods with kids and dog, then ruined a nice pint of peroni by putting it in a plastic pint pot!
J.
We stopped coming here a few years ago after the service became bad and the food was terrible. We went back last weekend, the service is good this time, however, mistakes are still made when food comes out.
It annoying when you have to wait for it to be corrected and everyone on the table is already eating. There needs to be some attention to detail with the orders to avoid silly mistakes.
I can't fault the food now, very tasty
D. A. E.
Was grate experience the food taste great . Thank you very much
Y. S. (.
A cosy, budget pub in the forest. The pub looks at a huge green field area which makes it the perfect place for children! There is also a playground and patio area with comfortable seats. The great thing for the dog owners is the fact that the dogs are allowed in the pub even though I am not sure that this is very pleasant for all the others. Good selection of desserts and delicious burgers.
A. F.
Lovely friendly atmosphere, prompt service couldn’t have asked for more
S. D.
Good food for a reasonable price. Gammon with chips 10/10, chicken takeaway masala 8/10.
There was space in the car park for a motor home
N. C.
Lovely pub and friendly staff. Always enjoy their food. Dog and child friendly. Love running their pinot grigio stocks down lol. Great place.
K. A. H.
Arrived at the Burnt Stump and was greeted warmly
Bob was the barman who served us and was a friendly guy who we had a laugh with.
The food arrived which was fish and chips, well presented and cooked well.
L. V.

Sticky table that smelt of soaked spilt beer for a party of 6 at table 5 for my Birthday.....not good.☆☆☆
n.
After a mix up with the ticket, half of my order had to be returned but after a small wait, the matter was resolved and food was very tasty and worth the wait

W. B.
Great food great ppl but too busy when the sun's out. More staff when it's Hot would b great
J. B.
Pros: Nice atmosphere, good range on menu, helpful staff
Cons: food just not good enough quality and overpriced based on quality
M. B.
Great service, fantastic, friendly staff. Nice selection of well kept drinks. Drinks are a reasonable price but food looked a tad bit expensive for my liking. Although I will admit, it smelt good. I will be going back there.
F. E.
Food was great. The place was sooo quiet to say that it was 6pm on a Saturday night... felt like closing time.... yet food/dessert took longer than expected to arrive... but as long as the food is nice & warm then I'm happy :-)
T. H.
Good pub, excellent location directly between Mansfield and Nottingham particularly in summer with its beautiful outside area and walks. Dog friendly with treats at the bar and water bowls. Only let down by its average pub chain food and tired interior and sticky tables. (Old tables with worn varnish not because it's not been cleaned). Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
S. H.
Friendly service and great choice of food. At 2 for I on mains it is good value.
P. R.

Looks amazing on the outside, but inside is a bit of a let down. Didnt feel clean inside and the food wasn't great at all but not completely inedible... service was good though, staff were lovely
N. B.
Situated in the woods it has beautiful surroundings, staff very friendly and helpful. Food was great, not a huge selection but a good variety and all what we ordered was very good. Being dog friendly was a bonus for us 😉😁👍

Amazing food as always. The two for one offer is really good. Always enjoy coming here for food and a walk round
E. D.
Friendly staff and a lovely location. Just a shame that on the evening we visited the garden was a bit of a tip! We were there 3 hours and the tables never seemed to get cleared. Food was nice, good value.
m. G.
Great food friendly staff well worth a visit, update....4 of us revisited food was excellent the staff yet again really helpful and friendly
B. P.
When we arrived we was greeted by a lovely member of staff who took us straight to our table, we then went to the bar to order our food and the gentleman who served us at the bar was very polite and was great with our 2 year old little girl, after ordering we didn't have to wait long before we was served our food which was fantastic, it was hot and cooked perfectly overall a great service and delicious food thank you so much x
D. B.
OK for a pub meal with children. Nothing fancy, just OK. Food not the best but edible. It's a shame as this could be a fabulous place to eat with all of the surrounding area for kids to play and dogs to be walked. I would not choose this place if I wasn't looking for somewhere to take small children.
B. K.
Always a good menu, a large selection of specials not on the menu. Very nice outdoor seating when the weather is nice.
J. B.
Lovely place, lovely people, great food.
G. L.
Nice food, lovely pub and friendly staff.
G. S.
Nice and quiet as we went mid afternoon. Food was OK but nothing spectacular. We sat at the table and many staff walked by until we realised we had to go to the bar to order. No one told us what to do. Won't rush back but it wasn't that bad to complain.
I. C.
Excellent food. Great value with 2 for 1 offer and free pudding. We went on a Monday and it was very quiet and relaxing.
K. N.
Over two visits, the 'meet and greeter guy' was having a tough day - both times.
The menu is thin, bland pub chain fayre.
Otherwise, a nice place.... faint praise? Possibly. But I'll probably go again, because of convenient location, so it's not unacceptably terrible.
E. D.
First visit here tonight. Very relaxed atmosphere. Witnessed staff sanitising public areas.
Food was lovely, didn't have to wait long. Had a problem with my drink but it was quickly changed
Definitely visit again
L. M.
Came here a lot when my boys were young & still come now they're grown up with children of there own,who also still visit here .Good food, not too badly priced, some 2 for 1 deals. They do get very busy though so they can't always fit you in,book before hand if possible.
W. B.
Friendly staff, nice food no complaints at all
D. W.
Great service. Steak was tough to say it was cooked medium. Chips tasted like frozen oven chips.
P. M.
Good pub, good walks, not a bad time!
I. K.
Really nice pub, good service and food, nice view.
T. W.
Great place for a family meal or just a nice pint spent most the summers here with kids also a bonus thing is meals are 2 for 1 so great for a family afternoon meal or what ever 😜
D. 1.
Had a lovely time food was great and staff was brilliant
T. A. J.
Really love going here and seeing friends great place and staff
L. W.
Hot food, no wait, polite staff, great price offers. Regular visitors
K. M.
We had a lovely meal here last night, good social distancing we were a party of 11 but they tried their best to accommodate us with social distancing rules in place, food was lovely, good service, staff were very nice, totally did their best in the current situation, as it was very busy!! The kids really enjoyed their meals and the adults did too. It is a very busy pub and with the eat out to help out vouchers on it was even busier, we still enjoyed our visit. Well done to the staff !!
P. H.
Lengthy wait to be seated even though hardly any patrons in.
Food only warm....
Friendly staff
M. W.
Lovely food, fabulous service
C. H.
As a rule I like coming here because of the amount of space for children to play.
This is our first visit after lockdown relaxation.
The table was sticky. Probably the cleaning products on the wood tables.
The main course was served, 10 mins later I had to ask where my child's meal was. It was promptly made and bought out to us.
Dessert - 1 was bought to us 10 mins after the rest of us had had ours.
Diners were well spaced, which is nicer because sometime you can be too close to other diners.
The food was nowhere near as nice as it used to be - I had the lasagne and wasn't massively impressed. Another family member had lasagne also; they forgot to bring out the garlic bread with their meal. That was requested at the same time as the child's meal.
I am focusing on the meal only on this review because I feel it unfair to comment on the environment (apart from a better space for dining) because of Covid.
The staff were as they always have been - welcoming, polite and happy to address our issues without hesitation.
L. T.
Absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere
P. B.
Great place to take dogs for a walk and have a beer, the food was fantastic as was the barmaid. Throughly enjoyed my trip there and will certainly be going back
L. S.
Served by Emma, food was really good and excellent service!
A. L.
Location is lovely......but it's just overpriced pub grub
P. A.
Great service, lovely food and doggie friendly
t. q.
Very clean and scenic public house , pleasant staff also clean outside areas . Good quality meals . The only negative is some of the pine style tables have a sticky feeling possibly due to the varnish on them . That is the only reason I did not give full marks as this can be a bit off putting . Other wise a fantastic meal and great drink with friendly service . The view of surrounding area is outstanding . Please go and enjoy

Was a curious story getting to this location, we were out shopping for bonsai tree soil and just near was a little shop, I didn't do my research on the location as it was 40 min drive each way with a little baby.
So now we're hungry and tired so a quick location search and we find the burnt stump
And well what a lovely location friendly staff good food and drink allows dogs and a great walk near we will be going back for a propper visit as this was only a flying one but overall we highly recommend this location
Go for a walk and finish with good food and drink, perfect
C. D.
Nice place flat beer average food
R. T.
Great place and great atmosphere. Served by
Ash who was really helpful.
B.
The staff are lovely and very helpful. As for the food it was gorgeous. There is also a gluten free menu with plenty of delicious options to choose from. Looking forward to visiting again.
H. L.
Been here many times. Went yesterday for Father's Day. As good as ever. Food always good and no silly prices. Kids get to play outside after. Love this place.
D. M.
Lovely woods, parkland and dog friendly pub
T. B.
Really good experience and lovely food.
D. S.
Menu could be better for single people. Ok if 2 for 1.
Y. H.
The overall experience was good but there was a queue to pay behind all the people ordering and then I was charged for a pudding when it should have been free as 3 of us were dining
C. M.
Lunch wasn’t as good as it used to be.
I had to ask for the table to be wiped as it was very sticky and was still afterwards.
Burgers were missing onions rings as stated on the menu but when I asked about them, I received a mumbled reply something about having no sides !!! 😳 Staff please remember that when you wear a mask you have to speak clearly!
No sauces offered or second cutlery so I had to find my own.
Burger was just ok.
It’s a shame that after lockdown the place seems to have gone down and I can only hope that this is a hiccup and a normal level of service and quality of food picks up again.
P. J.
Great location on a sunny day, great food offers but food very average pub grub. Seemed to be some staff shortages which didn't help service.
C. A.
Lovely food and great customer service!
H. D.
Dog friendly - you can eat in the bar area with a dog. Food is good - good for a big group
E. S.
Great food at a great price, staff were helpful and friendly. The toilets however were very cold for changing my little ones nappies.
D.
Food was delicious and great service 💫
J. b.
Lovely staff. Sometimes food hit and miss.
R. P.
A little pricey, and could use some tips from Gordon Ramsay in the finishing dept. On the whole a glorious place to meet fam, hang with friends or do business; has ample parking, plenty of woodland to explore and encompasses a pristine cricket ground.
K. H.
Food is expensive, 2 for one not really an 'offer' when each dish costs so much in the first place. Outdoor seating areas not cleared promptly, tables were dirty and there was rubbish everywhere which put us off sitting outside despite it being such a lovely day.
E. C.
Lovely food good price lovely staff
S. H.
Dog friendly, good location
M. s.
Didn't rate the curry at all. Hard rice and basic chicken. Didn't feel fresh. However for 2 meals for one it's very very reasonable. Loved the cocktails. Location is lovely. Outdoor seating. In a country park. Staff were friendly.
H. O.
Quite a few selective menu considering most are reduced due to Covid BUT Sausage and mash at OVER £13 really???? My friend had Scampi same price
Saw after that it was buy one get the cheapest free but they charged us full price. Not great customer service?,
S. H.
Great location, choice and value for money. Food was a little bit overcooked but we still had a nice time.
D. O.
Great service. Good food. Nice pint what more can you say
J. M.
A truly wonderful pub, in lovely surrounding, great selection of drinks and food. Very attentive and friendly staff too.
G. H.
Always good great staff😃
T. F.
The food was gorgeous but you could have a smaller portion size menu for those how do not eat normal size.
m. l.
Great meals and dessert, friendly staff would recommend
J. I.
Great place to take a walk. The burnt stump pub looked good and from what l remember is a pleasant place to eat. My only negative is a lack of clean water for the dogs, yes there was water but I was green .
J.
Had a lovely meal with friends on Monday lunchtime. Two for one on most main meals plus free pudding. Staff friendly and helpful. Decor a bit tired but didn't take away from anything. Lovely to have the park outside for an after dinner walk.
H. c.
Food wasn't breathtaking, but a lovely place to go for a drink and to be with friends - careful of the approach though, we nearly missed the turning! It's not well signposted I don't think
R. S.
Lovely park with woodland walks and a scenic cricket ground. Thoroughly enjoyed our games of rounders and Frisbee.
p. h.
Went for a meal was lovely will come again
e. p.
good service and nice place. was served by bob.
G. F.
Good quality food
Well priced
C. M.
Service and staff were very good. Good large clean family pub with great outdoor space. Food came out very quick after ordering and staff were there to make sure everything was okay. Food was good. Chips were very basic oven chips though which weren't as good. However overall a very good experience
m.
Really good place to eat for vegan food
J. C.
Free Parking.
Lovely walk through the woods and around the field.
Food is the usual pub grub.
Basic but good.
C. B.
Very friendly staff food was excellent
M. W.
Great food freindly staff nice walks around the surrounding country park to work up an appetite
P. R.
If you're just wanting pub grub then no complaints - great service and tasty food. If you're NHS staff then you get a good discount too!
E. H.
Lovely little spot to spend a couple of hours in the sunshine
C.
Pretty nice pub food, big portions and a nice view if you get a seat by the window.
C. C.
Great place for a nice dog walk and lunch
E. T.
The food is amazing, the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming and the staff go above and beyond. Buy one get one free deal is very good and dogs are allowed in the premises, but all dogs are well behaved and you are almost unaware of them! Great for occasions but equally good for a relaxed family meal. Highly reccomend It!
S. B.
Good value 241 meals. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. When sat outside it eels like being in the middle of no where! Perfect to get away to. Dog friendly. Good selection of alcohol and non alcoholic drinks. Recommended for families. Plenty of private parking and a play area outside for kids too.
K. W.
Lovely atmosphere. Family and dog friendly. Great woods around the premises to walk your dog or for a stroll
P. A.
Lovely food you get plenty but you may have to wait if its busy times great staff
G. B.
As you would expect from a two for one chain pub food wise. Excellent too visit in summer with woodland walks surrounding the pub and you may want to watch a leisurely game of cricket while you eat or have a drink. Great location but it's a drive and not a walk to get there.
T. B.
Nice place with friendly relaxed atmosphere.
Ideal for families...
L. K.
Absolutely fabulous food 😋
J. M.
Good atmosphere and great service would recommend
J. T.
Food was alright, pretty standard selections with some interesting specials but very good value for money. Service was a bit slow, especially at the bar but it was warm outside so it was fairly busy. The outside areas are the main draw really, as the garden overlooks the cricket pitch
A. C. (.
Pleasant pub in lovely grounds. Plenty of outdoor seating. Good menu and a free WiFi, meal deal.
M. B.
Called in on the 7th September, rather disappointing, overpriced mediocre food, food scraps on adjacent tables not cleared and wiped quickly, staff need better training, also easily missed, needs better pub signs on the road.
E. D.
Affordable, good quality food. You get 2 for 1 deals. It has spacious grounds outside. Large seating, outside area, some of which is sheltered, or in the woodlands. This consists of woodland, massive grass area and more woodlands. The grass area is manicured as it is also a cricket pitch. Relaxed atmosphere with plenty of parking. The gem of this place is the children's play area which is spacious. My sister is very fond of this.
A. K.
Excellent food, very good service, great deals on meals, nice walks nearby. Plenty of tables outside.
R. C.
Very good as always. My only gripe is the buy one get one free offer, as you always get the cheapest meals free. For example, we had 6 meals but only the 3 cheapest were free. We had 3 like for like meals (2x3 similarly priced meals) but still got the 3 cheapest on the offer. A better way would be to discount the total meal cost by 50%. Other than that, food and service was as good as I've had. Recommended.
G. “. E. M.
If you used to visit this restaurant years ago, do not expect the same experience. The decor is drab, tired and shabby. Tables and chairs in need of repair and staff in need of a smile and some friendly interaction. The food selection was excellent, providing a range to suit all four of our party, including a vegan. The quality of the food was also very good. Cooked and presented well and served good and hot. The location for this pub/restaurant is among the best on Nottingham's outskirts. It just needs an owner or manager to love it more and take pride in improving the overall experience. That said, I would still revisit.
J. R.
Food was tasty and reasonably priced. No soft drink options on the drinks menu and unaware of unlimited Pepsi deal. Staff could not furfil requests first time round to swap chips for salad and no ice in drinks. Waitress that took over was very apologetic.
V. H.
Food expensive, good job mains were 2 for 1!
l. h.
Staff was friendly nothing was any trouble for them
N. T.
Stunning scenery, chill atmosphere, plenty of space for family. Staff are superb, very attentive, well informed. The food though, it was very average, I wouldn't come for the food but I'd still eat here again. Unmissable rural bliss!!
B. E.
Great little pub. Never disappointed. Good choice on menu and 2for1 on all meals including the specials board. Lovely quality food. Nice staff with good service. Good choice of drinks. Toilets always clean too. Just beware of parking at peak times, can be rammed.
A. S.
Had really nice meal. They put chillies on my burger and it was wonderful, best I have in a long time. Friendly and helpful staff.
A. R.
It's been a while since my last visit. Large family table with 5 adults and 3 hungry grandchildren to feed .Girls enjoyed the rib-eye steak and grandchildren pizza and lasagne. Good atmosphere and reasonably priced food made for a good evening.
K. C.
It was a bit of a mixed bag really, 1 hour from ordering, 2 out of 3 meals came not as menu described, burger buns were dry (Not toasted) I asked for ketchup, it didn't arrive.
2 of the serving staff were very good but another involved in our order was just making up the numbers.
On the bright side my burger was nice just disappointing it didn't come with the mustard and mayo sauce 🙁
V. C.
The meals we experienced were good value, well worth a early afternoon meal.
C. H.
Food was lovely and the staff are always helpful and do their best. Children love it here too.
s. j.
Good food, good choice. Service on a busy Sat evening slightly lacking but worthy of a return visit. Is a 241 pricing which makes it reasonable. We had steak, tasty and cooked how we like it.
J. J.
Polite and helpful staff, excellent food what's not to like. lovely setting too.
A.
Excellent value for money. Pleasant surrounding especially in summer if cricket match on. Shame about smokers scattered throughout the outside seating when having a meal. Would be nicer if they were contained to one area leaving a different area to non smokers.
I. J.
Food was amazing :) had a lovely evening with friends
D. N.
Lovely location for a bit of a walk and then something to eat and drink. Has soooo much potential. Although, they must be understaffed as had to wait ages to get served by the 1 person behind the bar and there didn't seem to be too much urgency to take our food order either. Ended up just feeling a bit frustrated. I think whoever manages it needs to sort out resourcing properly.
S.
Very nice food. We often go. Love the new bottomless drinks! The field near it is good for dog walks also. Ours loves that too!
I. B.
Nice walk, with drinks available.
K. E.
Nice place for families, dogs welcome too and ask for a drink for the dog! Staff welcoming, available menu really good. Try the port and stilton chicken! Yummy. Good value offers available on meals. Will go again!
C. F.
After being messed about at the hospital we nipped In for some food what a lovely place ,very peaceful out the way and the food was lovely .I haven't been here since my girls were little so about 20 years it's as nice now as it was back then I will be coming back again if you get chance go have a bit to eat
D. A.
Much bigger than I recall. Dropped by briefly on a lunchtime to meet a friend and share a coffee & chat.
The coffee was rather tasteless & bitter, fortunately the conversation wasn't.
Service was good, in comfortable surroundings, at £2.10 the price was ok (if it had tasted nice).
D. W.
Nice wooded locality. Lattes were pleasant. Didnt get to sample the ales as i was driving
C. H.
Excellent service. Chips delicious in particular. Jam rolly polly very light, just not enough custard.
c. n.
Rang in advance on halloween, place was very busy but the waiter David was so nice to us, kept us up to date with table availability, gave us a number so we could pre order food whilst he cleared and cleaned it and let us order desert from our table as we were so stuffed. Other staff equally friendly and couldnt do enough. Excellent customer service and delish hot food (spesh 241 and it being so busy)
a. b.
Very friendly staff who work very hard i suspect to few staff effects the quickness of service. Ive never had a bad meal or waited outrageous timings for it to arrive. The location is lovely backing onto a cricket pitch with a country park/forest to walk around.
A. L.
Meal ok basic but pleasant
P. w.
We had two mega mixed grills and a children's meal and drinks very reasonably priced for just over £30.
The mixed grill was lovely everything very tasty and fresh tasting .
Children's meal great value for money .
I would defiantly recommend the food and kids love the park areas so all in all a lovely bank holiday evening .
M. T.
Nice food
K. W.
It was OK for a cool drink and the toilets were clean.
A. U. V.
Excellent service and food was nice
C. H.
Food was lovely and the staff are always helpful and do their best. Children love it here too.
M. B.
Called in on the 7th September, rather disappointing, overpriced mediocre food, food scraps on adjacent tables not cleared and wiped quickly, staff need better training, also easily missed, needs better pub signs on the road.
I. B.
Friendly staff decent food, lovely location
M. L.
Lovely place but for some weird reason the coffee is always cold🙄
I. B.
An excellent pub the food is excellent and the staff go the extra mile to ensure your visit is so enjoyable
C. L.
You get what you pay for. Meals 2 for 1- good choice
L. R.
Very nice lace good atmosphere
A. D.
It was extremely busy today but the staff managed it very well, the food was lovely. I was extremely pleasantly surprised to see that they offer refillable drinks. Will be coming back!
w. f.
Ideally located in forest and fields.first class meals and plenty of parking.great for taking kids and dogs for walk then dropping in for a pint.
R. B.
I came here on valentines day with my boyfriend. It was lovely. The meal was lovely. The attention to detail of the tables was lovely. The gent who served us was lovely. Cant fault it. Great and great price.
J. K.
Great food menu. 2 for 1 on all meals. Far more than the average selection. Very much a gastro pub with emphasis on the 'gastro.'
Amazing desserts. Banana and butterscotch sundae is a winner. Big portion!
Very dog friendly. Dog drinking bowls always available. Lovely view of the park. Polite staff.
T. H. (. H.
Great for families and children. Not for a romantic meal. Was packed on Saturday lunchtime but staff handled it well. It will never be cordon bleu but food is ok for the money. Outdoor space is great for kids and games.
S. G.
Very friendly great food
G. J.
Location and service great just to busy
S. H.
LOVE the food, they have a really good menu with lots of choice and there's a specials board.
The service is always great and it's a nice atmosphere in a lovely location.
I highly recommend this place and have been here multiple times myself
F. K.
Had an issue with food delay and staff were so quick to apologise even though we hadn't moaned. Very attentive staff who couldn't do enough for us. The fact my dog can come in to made it even nicer. Thank you. We will be back
D. M.
Yet another fantastic meal and total value for money. David and his staff are faultless. Always going the extra mile to make sure that you enjoy your visit. Been here every friday this year and never had a bad meal.
N. W.
Edit.....2nd visit
Went back mid week with the mother as the setting is lovely. The pub was a lot quiter and so much cleaner. I genuinely think they struggled to cope with the weekend traffic on such a warm day, glad my first impressions didn't stop me going back and enjoying the pub and food for a second time.
Highly recommended the filler really nice sharing platter.
1st visit gave 2 stars
Lovely setting especially if you have kids as there's a huge green and a large kids play area.
However i think food is expensive for what you actually get. £11 for a hullimi salad and it was just a whole lot of lettuce and a few cucumbers with a really small amount of hullimi and was really greasy.
No glasses had been collected, was probably 10 glasses on our table so wasps was a massive problem.
Toilets was really dirty with tissue and pee all over.
Could be a lovely place with a bit more TLC I think.
R. F.
Enjoyed it. Nice food and friendly staff...
A. C.
Great food choice, good value very good service.
M. B.
Went due to it's proximity to the hospital. Landlady friendly and helpful but person that brought food to table looked completely uninterested.
Chips were cold and looked like they'd been standing ages.
Landlady rectified for us quickly though.
J. C.
Fast service great food
R. C.
Nice walk around big fields with wooden areas then back to the pub for a beer and food great plus there's a little play area for the kids .
W. G.
This pub is great for family's with children especially in the summer, there's a big outdoor play area to play football, sports, etc - surrounded by lots of woodland for walking as well. There's also a small play area for smaller children to enjoy, in the summer they have bbq food on and in the main pub you can get plenty of variety of meals available. The food is not that great but for the price it is ok, if you have a big family it's worth taking a picnic as there's plenty of sitting areas scattered around. Overall it's a good pub for a day out with the family.
P. L.
Staff pleasant food nicely cook drinks nice and cold will definitely go again
P. S.
Nice pub, great food, friendly staff, nice play parks for the kids.
M. C.
Lovely family pub, can get very busy so always best to pre-book if you can. Beautiful in the summer as overlooks a cricket pitch & next to some woods for a nice walk.
S. S.
Good meal, slightly pricey, good polite service, saw tables and chairs sprayed and wiped after people left, lovely wooded area with pond to walk round after meal.
T. H.
Come here often, food is great, staff are amazing and they always have fantastic deals.
Lovely place to go with family or friends, big field and park for kids to play on, just can't go wrong with this place.
M. S.
We had the Sunday lunch. Two for £12. I had the pork belly and my partner had the roast beef. Lovely meal. Will definitely be going there again
J. B.
Varies. They had run out of chips. Short staffed when busy. Usually pleasant and welcoming.
C. H.
Great place during covid 19, outside bar and food is great. Very good sized portions too! Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place
J. C.
Web page needs updating as they no longer do breakfast 😒
d. c.
Lovely beer garden and good service
C. W.
We had a family meal here for lunch which was once again excellent. We quite often come here although we live in Birmingham, as other members of the family live in this area. We love this pub/restaurant because of it's lovely setting & decor. The only drawback is the toilets which could do with a refurb & the parking. Sometimes it is difficult to park due to the parkland it's next to.
However the staff are always friendly & our waitress on this occasion took extra care of our needs...realising that we hadn't recieved one of our desserts went & sorted it out without having been asked.
K. F.
Amazingly beautiful food. Lovely attentative staff. Amazing prices. Set in such beautiful grounds. Such a lovely place for a family meal or a just for the two of you.
J. S.
Excellent choice on the menu. The service was good staff very friendly and the food was very good. I had grilled fish which was well cooked and tasty. The rhubarb dessert was a dream.
R. M.
Went out today for my 24th birthday. I had the pie and woow. Beautiful. The only problem we had is my son was walking on the wall and the slab fell of and hit my girlfriend. Other than that. Great staff and service. Beautifully food. Barging for the price
J. O.
As always food and service were excellent. The staff were extremely busy, but always happy to help. COVID19 measures were in place and it didn't detract from a lovely afternoon
E. P.
Good food, excellent value and extremely helpful staff
P. F.
Very cheerful and cheap to eat. Used it to wait for my partner whilst in the Park. Very pleased.
N. W.
Cheap, cheerful, chain pub.
I went on a busy sunday when the sun had come out, and so had everyone else by the looks of it.
Food was acceptable, beer and a burger style so no issues there and worth the £6-7 a plate or so.
Only point of criticism for me was that although both tills looked the same, I was able to order a drink at 1 till, where there were two staff milling around and not particularly pressed for time, but to order food, i had to go to a different one, where the 1 staff member was flying around. Makes no sense to me and does nothing but hinder operations for them, and also adds another queue to join for the patrons.
Loads of outdoor seating, and staff clearing tables very quickly, which is a nice change to the often neglected aspects of outdoor dining at a pub.
I'd certainly go back for another quick lunch.
Parking wasa pain in the backside though because for some reason everyone insists on parking in there to goto the park, instead of driving 30 seconds around the corner to public, and on that day free, car park the other side of the field. If there was ever a need for anpr enforcement its here.
I. B.
An excellent pub the food is excellent and the staff go the extra mile to ensure your visit is so enjoyable
B. S.
The food was great, had a slight mix up where desserts came before mains, which meant a good 45 minutes from ordering to eating but definitely worth the wait!
M. T.
Great food and service!
Decent value especially if you get the 2 for 1 deal.
Nice setting, the pub is literally in the park, would be very nice in the summer.
K. W.
Even though it was busy and we booked last minute the staff were very friendly and helpful, we were told there was a wait for food and that they had ran out of a few of the meals but they came straight over to tell us. Food was OK when it arrived and we ate it all
G. T.
Love it here. Sat outside in the evening sunshine, nice cold drinks, great company, what more could you ask for?
c. g.
A great out of the way place to enjoy with friends and family. Friendly and welcoming staff, lots of outdoor space for kids or adults. Quiet and pleasant, good service.
L. V.
Lovely park to take your dog for a walk
C. O.
A place for a short walk through woods and plenty of wide open space to wander through , play games and picnic topped off with a visit to the Burnt Stump pub when its open. I summer you can catch a game of local cricket as Papplewick play here.
K. P.
Lovely pub, beautiful setting...friendly staff. Food was great and the Chocolate Éclair cake....oh my goodness nearly had to be wheeled out the door! Absolutely enormous and tasted fantastic! Lol forward to coming back soon!
M. E.
We've been here on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. Excellent food and very friendly service. Plus it's a dog friendly environment.
J. J.
Amazing evening with my family. Friendly staff.
J. C.
Large family pub, service was surprisingly quick even so, the two for one meals a bit annoying as they are clearly overpriced for one to compensate.
D. L.
Fantastic food and very friendly staff our waitress was Kat and she could not have done any more to make our visit very special. We will be returning in the future thank you once again. Xx
K. M.
I love this place! Its a lovely place to be in, in nice surroundings, with good food, decent prices, and helpful, friendly staff. It has a big field attached, a park, is dog friendly and there's plenty of parking space. Ideal spot for a range of purposes.
M. R.
Nice place to eat. Views are fantastic. Staff are super friendly. A big thanks to all our pleasant visits. See you again.
S. B.
Nice pub, great outdoor location, beer is a bit pricey though
D. S.
Overall, the best pub/restaurant in Notts.
Down to excellent management. Great food to be enjoyed in beautiful countryside.
C. W.
The staff are friendly and it is a wonderful.pub. beautiful viewe over the park and lovely food. Amazing quality for the price
J. Z.
Great place, tasty food and lovely atmosphere!
D. H.
This is that rare gem of a pub. Great food, picturesque location and great value for money. As a 241 pub however, do make sure there is an even number of people in your party. What really sells this pub is it's woodland setting, overlooking a cricket pitch. You can sit on the patio and watch a game when the local club are playing in the summer. Alternatively you can go for a stroll in the woods to burn off your lunch. There is also play equipment for children just inside the wooded area. One criticism, not enough parking and it can get stupidly busy at the weekend so do ensure that you book first.
J. B.
What you would expect from this type of place. Hearty pub grub with good portions at an affordable price. Staff are friendly. Was clean. Enjoyed the meal.
G. T.
First time we have been . Pub was busy yet service was 5star very short wait for food .which was very nice with excellent staff very willing to help in any way. Thank you to all staff . We will be going again to them soon .
G. G.
Really lovely pub grub. Friendly service with good food.
W. C.
A nice country pub on the edge of Nottingham. The food was nice, good sized portions and the atmosphere was nice.
The two for one offer certainly makes a nice trip an enjoyable one.
Definitely a nice dinner out, alone or with family / friends.
J. J.
Food mediocre but very cheap. nice location for a swift pint or two. Fine with largish groups no need to book. Inexpensive family pub
D. C.
Lovely food and service, sat out in the sunshine with lovely company. Could ask for anything more.
C. W.
Good dining experience we had one small complaint and it was dealt with efficiently and no fuss they just need to get the kids meal out first instead of adults when a family dining and they would have 5 stars.Love that you can take puddings home very clever.
K. R.
Always love my time spent at Burnt stump. Never had a bad experience. Food is always excellent and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Perfect family friendly pub.
m. 2.
Great for a pint after a dog walk. Inside always seems a bit chaotic but we sit outside with the dog which is fine. They even provide water bowls.
D. F.
Loved it. The food was absolutely great. Very busy place and even though really busy the food came out in good time. Would go again.
P. W.
Nice country park to walk puppy
b. h.
Amazing food. Everything cooked to perfection. Great surroundings
j. b.
Good food, good service
