m. m.It's been a long time since this place was the Old Vic. First time we'd been here as we don't tend to visit this part of town too often. Very nice place indeed ! Pleasant staff, lovely, clean surroundings and a nice atmosphere. We only popped in for a 'swift half' to see what it was like - ended up staying a couple of hours and having fab pizzas there too! 2 for 1 pizzas at that (both have to be the same). Good selection of beers, ales and ciders(try the Berliner Pilsner!) and great food, I could have had 1 of everything! We'll be back, thanks guys!
P. E.Came last night for the "now that's what I call brunch" for my friends hen do. Had a great time, the service was excellent, our server Evie was amazing. The pizzas were really good. Overall excellent value for Money. Would definitely recommend and am looking forward to going back soon 😊
S. B.Went for the bottomless brunch yesterday - a little uncertain as I'd read conflicting reviews. Times all given on the email, obviously they need time to set up etc, but it was very well done, distanced, we were told clearly of the arrangements, when it was last orders etc. It was managed really effectively in the time of Covid - staff were very helpful and worked very hard to make it work.
Great atmosphere in the basement, music, mood lightning. The pizza was great - but then it always is at Das Kino - the cocktails were delicious and they were kept flowing, the entertainment with the DJ and the magnificent Kitty Tray was really enjoyable. We had a great time and I'm really, really pleased we did it.

Such a lovely smiley person who made us all feel welcome with plenty of laughs. Nothing was too much for her. This girl deserves recognition for the dedication she puts into her work and for the lovely person she is. Was a lovely afternoon. We will definitely return

E. W.Visited on Tues 13th August with my partner, taking advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme. On arriving, we were asked to use the Track and Trace link on our phone. We were swiftly seated and advised menus available online. Easy to access but difficult if you don't have a phone, but I guess majority of clientèle would. We ordered 2 large pizzas and 2 sides of differently topped tater tots. Food and drink was all brilliant. Servers were all lovely, friendly and attentive. Good atmosphere and everywhere was very clean and good controls for covid in place. We were able to get our leftovers boxed up to take home. Definitely recommend. Next time I'm definitely getting some loaded fries though, I saw some coming out and they looked delicious :D Meal worked out so reasonable as well with the offers.

J. L.We had a great time, however we were a little disappointed.
We had the "bottomless" brunch but didn't feel it was as advertised. Absolutely LOVED the Drag queen, Kitty Tray and she created a great atmosphere. We also enjoyed the music. However we only actually got 1.5 hours of service due to them taking us down late (no explanation) and then our last order of drinks never arrived, when we chased it we were the bar was closed. Last orders we were at 2:15 pm we were told, which is half an hour before the end, we were without a drink from 2pm and didn't go down until 12:30. The drinks were very nice and the pizza was delicious, but we didn't get many and were only allowed 1 at a time for a table of 6 which was the same if you had 2 people. Same with the starters, the same amount if there were 2 or 6 and we were told we were not allowed more. I feel if we hadn't been told it was bottomless we would not have had such great expectations.
On a side note, the venue was not covid safe. No distancing of tables and staff wearing masks only on mouths and not noses.
I would like to stress that we did have a brilliant time and that we were only disappointed due to the misleading advertising.

One of the bouncers that works here at weekends is a legend getting to dance he'll break it down.
2019 update, just had some food here on Saturday night, awesome food, the menu is nice and small so it's easy to pick what you want, burgers are good, Nacho mountain is huge, easy enough for two.
They have the disko downstairs which is a really cool party room, great atmosphere in this place I love it.

L. F.Went as part of the bottomless brunch which was fab. The drinks were flowing and the pizza was excellent, my only complaint is the music was abruptly stopped and we were all told to leave. Our group got told to "go upstairs" to the bar as the event was in the basement but on arriving upstairs we tried to hire a ping pong table and could until the bar staff realised that we had been downstairs and the manager told us we had to now leave because of this.
It's ok though we went and spent our money elsewhere so more fool Das Kino :-)
k. j.It's fun with the ping pong tables, shame it's not table service though, gone vack to crowding around the bar. We walked in and the place smelled like urine, it was coming from the men's toilets! Ew yuck. Needs a good clean Daskino!

Very chilled laid back atmosphere when I was in on a Tuesday night.
Very surprised to see Berliner pilsner on draight, it was sometimes hard to get in Berlin, let alone Nottingham.
But brought back very happy memories of trips there.
Would definitely go to Das Kino again.

E. W.Been here a few times. Would only ever go during the 241 pizza time because it's not worth it outside of that. However, 2 large pizzas fed 4 of us for 6 quid each. Good value for money but the pizzas seems to be getting smaller each time we go. The staff are friendly but drinks are on the expensive side. I love the range of pizzas and toppings and they have loads of different dips available. Good for groups and would go again

W. Y.Good disco downstairs, but I got shortchanged at the bar in Feb 2020 - instead of 50p change, the bartender gave me a 2p piece, then moved on to the next customer, so I was unable to query it.
I hope it was an honest mistake on their part, and not a tactic to cream extra money off the customers! My review would have been 4 stars, were it not for this.

M. H.Good atmosphere. Very friendly attentive staff. Wiff Waff available for Boris Johnson enthusiasts out there. And boy is it nice to get all you can eat wings on a Wednesday.
The only downside in my opinion is the cheapest pint is over £4, which is going rate for most hipster bars in Nottingham and maybe I just miss the days of buying a pint for £1.50. But overall it is a great place.
A. D.A pub with german atmosphere. Beer is good, and you can play ping pong in this bar. However, you have to book the table and pay some pounds for half an hour if you want to play. Otherwise, you can try to get on well with people who are playing !

For me personally the possibility to play table tennis is key feature. A little bit to expensive beer - the one which I like, but table tennis balances it worth a pint and a game ;)
W. B.Nice German pilsners on tap. Bit of a weird one where it looks like a bar but the music is too loud to talk, but then I've only been in on Saturday nights so could be different other nights. Never been able to play ping pong as the area is always being used but a nice idea.

W.I used to really like das kino and enjoy the atmosphere, but everytime I come back of late (6 months of writing this review) the pizza is still amazing and the atmosphere is great but the cocktails have gone down hugely in quality and gone up in price. Dissapointing to see such a good bar rip off patrons for quick cash. £5 minimum card charge!? Shame.
C. Ó. C.Love Das Kino. Table Tennis in a bar? My dream! Not only that they serve great beers and Oscar & Rosie's pizza! Only a 4 due to their ridiculous tendency to book terrible DJ's who blair music on the weekends. Personally it ruins the atmosphere of an otherwise great bar.

Popcorn cauliflower bites were amazing, the halume fries were a great spin. And that red dragon pizza was life changing. I wanted to be a better person for it.

a. w.In this bar there is a photobooth covered with photos of the patrons. I spent a lot of time wondering if the graffiti was genuine or had been pre-purchased as part of a package, a sort of rent a tagger if you will. That would be quite a fun and fulfilling line of work to get into. If anyone needs something of theirs graffitiing let me know and I can arrange a package for you.
