J.First time we've been here in a while, great food and drink....service was also great.
Lovely place to relax, inside and out.
L.The table we were given was poor. Waitresses were going to and fro from the kitchen very off putting while we were eating.
This is mainly why I have given 3 stars. The service was very good, very efficient and quick. The Sunday Roast was good value

A.Food was fantastic, put the service was shocking, we had a meal booked for 5.30 and we were one of the lucky ones that got their food quite quickly, we saw food put on empty tables, mains coming out before starters, drinks orders not arriving at all, we saw people leaving because they had waited so long to be served, after we finished out meal, we waited an hour before i finally decided to go to the bar to order a desert, which took half hour to arrive, and only then did our empty plates from out main meal get taken away. Real shame about the service, the food was lovely!
J. S.This is a very clean, comfortable and well run venue, with welcoming and friendly. My friend and I stopped off for lunch yesterday (Sunday 9 January 2022) And she opted for the Sunday roast while I chose a vegetarian option. Both were well cooked and presented and the portions were very generous and excellent value for money.
B. G.A wide variety of food choices to cater for all. I had a steak pie and it was lovely, along with plenty of veg to go with it. There were kids meals for the young ones and the price was very good considering the quality of food!
The staff were friendly and offered crayons and a colouring sheet for young ones.
The reason I rated 4 star was annoyingly they had ran out of beef for a Sunday Roast!
Would recommend to all and will definitely return.
j. a.We stayed over for a couple of days. The room was very, very clean, beds comfortable and a lovely shower. The staff that we spoke to were polite and cheery. The breakfast was lovely choosing cooked breakfast one day and continental the next. A 15 minute bus ride took us into the town centre, perfect. Hopefully we will come back and visit again.
A. W.Great choice of meals. We chose a delicious Sunday roast and yummy sundaes for pudding (Biscoff was fab).
Staff were friendly and very hard working and accommodated our request for slight changes to the menu.
Just one tip though…. If you book on a bank holiday Sunday then go early! It gets very busy by 1.30 and there were long waiting times.
Overall - great value for money and a good eating experience. We'll definitely go back.
I.I have been two times now to this pub and the staff is professional and friendly.
I love their lamb shank (which is what I have ordered on both occasion). It’s delicious and the portion is very satisfying.
Their non alcoholic beverages are also fantastic. I enjoy their mocktails so much !
A. A.We’re here for two nights only experienced one at the minute and the staff are incredible,food is gorgeous and worth the money. Entertainment started at 8 which we stayed around for to see what it was like and it’s so worth sticking around for,music or karaoke with your family or friends will definitely be coming back tonight and coming back here again!

I had requested the tables I would like but on arrival found two people had been seated in that area, although there was lots of room elsewhere. The request had not been noted. Also 30% on main course not deducted until mentioned.
N. T.Although busy at the time we arrived front of house staff did an efficient job in finding us a table and made us feel welcome when seated with firstly taking our drinks order.
In our group we had two diners who where able to choose from the kids menu which was useful as they have smaller appetites however I feel this could be included on the overall menu to accommodate mixed groups of guests. Overall an enjoyable visit with polite friendly staff who did their best to see we were all ok.

I. K.The hotel room was clean and tidy. No issue there. We ate in the restaurant and the food was OK but not spectacular. Our food was a little on the cool side and my partner's chicken was overcooked and dry.
C. H.Not been for a while for no other reason than busy elsewhere, staff were very attentive friendly but not over the top just the right amount. Service was excellent as usual and food was great, really enjoyed our time there and a bonus email of 30 percent off mains which was a bonus.
R. F.Food a reasonable standard for the type of establishment but service and communication somewhat lacking. Left waiting at entrance for some time, whilst staff walked past with heads down and ignoring us (this seems standard protocol as watched the same for all other guests arriving whilst we were present). Service was extremely slow and out of sequence, with people arriving after us, having orders taken before us. Had to request service whilst at table several times as waited far too long. No apologies or explanations, in fact given the impression that we were putting staff out purely by asking for service. At the very end, asked for the bill and again waited, so decided to get up and start leaving, which prompted some attention. At the end was asked how the evening had gone and only then got an apology and explanation that they were 2 staff down. Why don't you explain this upon arrival and set guests expectations - communication, communication, communication!!!
B. M.Typical roadside chain pub. Dirty plates left on tables outside. Starters ordered as mains came as starters. So I had a two stage main course. My food tasted nice though. Friendly staff.

After a lovely night away with my girlfriend we decided to go for dinner here on the way back home to wales , we decided to have a chicken roast dinner as this pub was well known for apparently but when it came out it was cold and the chicken served was Literally half a chicken cut in half on our plates cold was was off putting , was Lovley service but unfortunately the food was horrible that day but I know it was probably a misshape for that day but if you don’t want any hassle don’t order the chicken but instead maybe a burger 🍔 as they looked great ☺️ Xxx

S. T.The place was very warm and clean and tables were well spaced out. Thomas was very polite and attentive and took us to a quieter table away from a quite noisy private function. The food was lovely and hot and well presented.
A. G.We booked a table for 14 for my husbands birthday. When the food arrived mine wasn't served and I had to wait an extra 5 minutes. The waitress apologised for this. I asked for the bill and then had to go and ask to pay as no one came over. As we were a large group we were all paying in couples but the waitress was quite put out by this. I had to ask her if she would bring the card machine to us or would we need to go to the till, she thought about it then said she might as well bring it to us! She then was quite put out as we were all paying different amounts, which I had already mentioned. When we'd paid we realised that one person hadn't paid and she told us that he couldn't pay on card as the bill was paid in full so if he wanted to pay he'd have to pay cash, which none of us had. So, needless to say we didn't end up leaving a tip which I do feel bad about as the other staff were lovely. I realise that large groups can be a bit of a nightmare but I didn't expect the response to be quite so unprofessional overall. Having said that, the food was, as always, enjoyable and we will still recommend but maybe not for larger groups.
J. H.Two large parties who arrived after us their orders were taken first meaning we had to wait over an hour for food - which I had to chase. When we ordered they said the wait would be 40 mins. We asked for some water which took over 10 mins to arrive. We had to ask two people for the bill. The service to say we had pre-booked was shocking. When we arrived we were informed what was out of stock however when my partner went to order a vege burger they came back and said they'd run out which wasn't originally told. For a religious reason my partner doesn't eat meat on a Sunday and the choice was extremely limited
S. C.We stayed at the hotel for a wedding reception at Holme Pierrepont Hall which is very close by. The staff at Gamston Lock were amazing, I travelled with friends so asked for rooms near each other, and we got rooms right next door to each other. The room was spotless, the aircon/heating worked and was easy to use. The bed was the comfiest I've slept in which I definitely didn't expect but was a pleasant surprise! The custard creams with the teas and coffees were also a great touch. Then for breakfast - absolutely beautiful. Super friendly staff and delicious food that was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be my first choice if I'm back in Nottingham in the future!

A. F.I took a gentleman here on the 28th April to celebrate his 90th birthday. He is not the most easy of men, suffering with dementia and complained an awful lot.the 2 guys that were on duty that lunchtime were so nice and made me feel at ease. It was rather embrassing.one of young men even took hold of my hand and explained that his grandad suffers from dementia,so he was used to this sort of behaviour. Food was lovely .

B.Our first time visiting ,recommended by a family friend, went for my sisters birthday 🎂 and can,t recommend it enough, we pulled up into a well big enough car park to a lovely outdoor sitting area which was all lit up and entering into the restaurant a impressive modern feel to it ,our table for the night was in a big bay area,the meal itself we cannot fault it all came out together and the staff were very attentive

N. B.Called in for breakfast after staying overnight on a business trip and was pleasantly surprised by the very decent vegan breakfast, tomatoes, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, hash brown, a tasty smashed avocado and 2 vegan sausages, which can be very hit and miss but these were very good.

Picked because of its disabled facilities, which included a fully accessible bathroom, I was a bit concerned about the suitability of this hotel as a venue for my Mum's 85th birthday dinner, but it was excellent. Pretty standard pub menu but very tasty and well presented, together with awesome brekky!

Big enough to sit people without children away from play area etc which was nice for a quieter drink. Dogs were welcomed and they offered a discount loyalty card for dog owners. D. W.We waited 5 mins before being greeted at the seating podium. The service was pretty good actually. The Camembert shared starter had a strange flavour, it had a lemon flavour outer crust which did not taste good. Not sure if this was intentional but it did not go well. We have eaten Camembert cheese sharers many times at other restaurants and they have tasted ok. The mains were ok. We had no desserts.
The Gamston Lock is our local. This won’t put us off coming again and whilst the service was good, the food was very average

First they couldn't find our booking, secondly there was no beef available ( Sunday 2pm.) , thirdly they mixed up the meals between 2 tables leaving 2 of us eating before the other 4 and cauliflower cheese left to go cold on the table.
We wanted dessert but couldn't get a member of staff anywhere near. In the end we did get someone's attention but we'd waited far too long and was ready to go. Finally we had to go and find someone at the bar to pay.... again there was no staff about.
In all fairness we were given a 10% discount as a gesture but I'd have rather have had a better experience.

N. T.The staff are lovely amd without fault. I often come here, especially in the summer. The environment, furniture and lighting is beautiful. The added touches for people’s dogs are an extra special touch.
1. You should be given the option to tip staff through the card machine. I never carry cash and the staff provide excellent service.
2. The chicken & chorizo tagliatelle is the worst meal I’ve ever smelt, let alone tasted. The chorizo didn’t taste like chorizo and it had clearly been cooked (and stewed) in some sort of meat sauce, then thrown on top of some bland pasta then garnished with some chicken pulled off a roast. Aside from the revolting smell, it clearly hadn’t been ‘cooked’ just thrown together so no flavours were blended at all and the pasta was pretty much cold.

Also, we put in our order through the QR code and waited for over 30 mins, we noticed that it was taking a while only to discover that the order had gone through and he hadn't told us immediately. It instead waited over 10 minutes to tell us. We wouldn't of minded if someone told us or the notification had come in earlier but instead we were just waiting around. The pub itself does seem nice and the food looked good, just wish we could of actually got our order. Maybe next time.

S. G.Full marks for this modern establishment. Lots of outdoor space for alfresco. The food is cooked fresh and a varied menu is available. Hats off to the Staff here who work really hard at keeping the service flowing.
The hotel is also modern, clean and very comfortable. Plus the rates are very reasonable. The breakfast is griddled and very delicious. Ample parking too. Free WiFi.

R. T.Went for lunch today with my daughter and baby grandson without booking. We arrived about 1 pm and they found us a great spot inside where Eric could be in his pram without being disturbed. I had the half chicken with mash, veg and gravy, and my daughter had the buttermilk chicken burger followed by the baked lotus cheesecake. Everything was presented well and tasted great, couldn't fault it. The place in general was laid out superb to make you feel safe, well done team. 👏👏👏

T. B.I actually loved this place. The decor is second to none. Very creative. Food was lovely. The starters especially, I took home a few ideas for things to cook from this pub. Unfortunately the tiramisu was no good, alike many other restaurants.

A. G.The food on the whole is quite good, though in the twice we have been they have always been out of a few dishes. It's a busy place and quite under staffed on that basis. Each time we have had to go ask for cutlery after food has been served. The tables would also benefit form more than the quick wipe they seem to get. More staff would sort out the dropped stars.

I have read some bad reviews about Christmas dinner and very upset as we were there and so many happy people enjoying good food and service. it seems some people complain to get things for free and when you see who they are they do this on a regular basis at many restaurants. so my advice is to try it and see and if you are one of those sad people who go with a plan to complain just don't go it's as simple as that. The new hotel wich we have stayed in is also fantastic and does what it says on the tin. 5 stars. well done guys x
d. m.Was a bit disappointed. Was told there was a thirty minute wait for a table, no issue but 45 minutes went to check, and was seated straight away (appeared we had been forgotten). Ordered, starters arrived no problem, 35 minutes later still waiting for table to be cleared and the mains brought out. Mains arrive. The fish was ovetcooked, one of the parties chips were like warm, and the burger was over done as well.

We were there for the last hour for food, and our main meals weren’t brilliant, but passable. The puddings made up for the mains, but the reason this review is three star is only because of the lovely young Scottish man that was our server. He was so polite, his customer services were excellent. He’s a credit to the pub. Didn’t get his name though.....

M. R.Won a competition to have 2 main meals free. Before ordering I asked how that would work with the 3 course meal deal and was told we would only pay £6 for the other 2 courses. Great I said and ordered. We had two 3 course meal deals and 2 kids meal deals. Out Sunday dinners arrived with no potatoes. Pointed it out and some got brought separately.
We had all finished I presented the voucher as discussed and the bill came. She said the mains had been taken off so I took her word and paid. Minutes later I saw rather than all the dishes being combines to make a meal deal so it was £6 they were full price. She said oh yes sorry let me sort a refund.
As she's doing that I said the kids meals are not down as a meal deal either so are more.
Ultimately the food was pretty good apart from some of it missing and then even without our competition voucher the bill creation was completely wrong.
Not a great end to to the visit and I was still out of pocket but I couldn't be bothered to go back and point out another mistake.
C. H.Stayed here for two nights. Overall impression was very good. Large car park. Uncomplicated check-in, clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The breakfasts were well organised and ample food. Reasonable rates too. Although we didn't eat here in the evenings, the menu looked appealing. Well stocked bar and efficient service. Would definitely stay here again.
B. W.Food was good. Service to start with was brilliant. A member of staff seated us and explained it was table service. After 5 minutes or so someone came to take a drinks order and brought those over then took a food order. The food was very quick to come out. After this point all service seemed to stop. We both wanted another round of drinks but as no one came over to ask how things were going my partner had to go to the bar himself. While waiting at the bar he was ignored by what appeared to be management members of staff. Didn't acknowledge he was there to say someone would be with him. In the end the poor girl that was running the bar on her own served my partner. We then waited another 20-30 minutes and no one came to see us or ask if we wanted anything else or the bill. In this time there were many other members or staff stood around talking or floating about aimlessly. Again we had to go to the bar to pay and the same girl as before was rushed off her feet while other members of staff floated passed her. At one point she was serving 3 people in one go.
As I said food was lovely but staff/management need to be a bit more attentive to what's happening around them! If it's table service then brilliant. Make sure the tables are waited on.

P. M.I met my mum for breakfast here, is normally buffet breakfast but with Covid-19 everything is ordered and served, it isn't ideal but everyone is having to adapt and the staff was doing best they can, I would certainly in the future.
j. o.Stayed at the hotel and had an evening meal, we had a few issues with the room with a noisy water tank header and a few other minor issues,no remote for the tv and very limited toilet paper! the meal was nice however we had to send the starter back twice for being cold in the middle. The breakfast in the morning was great and we relayed our issues to Dan the duty manager who handled things brilliantly listened intently and offered apologies and refunded the nights stay without any hassle, very professional. We have stayed a few times and these issues arnt the norm I have to say, rooms are very clean and the pub itself is lovely and welcoming so would recommend a visit. Hopefully the issues we had were one offs!

M. T.The menu has changed since we last visited which was a long time ago. Absolutely loved the menu for variety and the food was delicious. The only bad thing I can say on this visit was the couple sitting on the next table to us was very loud and every other word was bad language which ruined the atmosphere. That's not the pubs fault not put us off we will give it another try

We were there for over 2 hours with two young children waiting for our main meal unsurprisingly by the time the food did arrived we were so fed up and the kids were so bored we didn't really enjoy it. If I am to be 100% honest it was the weekend and probably the busiest time of the weekend but you would have thought knowing this is a peak time they employ more staff.

A. M.Ordered sunday lunch today and i was slightly disappointed. I had the beef which was terribly tuff, the roast potatoes was also under cooked. The roast doesn't come with mash potatoes, which I would think would come as standard. Also had to order stuffing as a side. On a positive note the staff are very friendly and helpful. We order a puddings, one of my favourites, sticking toffee pudding which was lovely. My sons lunch was also good. I will go again as normally not disappointed

You are always made to feel welcome by the friendly staff. We have always been served very quickly at the bar. We also have eaten here a few times and the food has been lovely each and everytime.
One of the loveliest members of staff: Sally appears to have left as not seen her for a while. She is missed as always welcomed you with a lovely smile and was very customer orientated. Even if we were just popping in for a drink she always gave you the same attention as the diners. Sally stood out but the rest of the staff are friendly too.
This pub also has a lovely garden area with a small play area on one side for children with climbing frame etc.
I would recommend for the quality of the pub food especially the fantastic Sunday lunches and for the cheerfulness and friendliness of the staff.

They set up for breakfast at 8:30pm right next to where we were sat eating, we got the feeling like we were pushed out the door. Overall I'd stay at the hotel again, just never eat in the pub again.

The cleanliness often reflects on the kitchen. If that comment makes no sense to you. Also, I see a no right to complain.
The food is good pub grub. It doesn't try to reflect anything else.
Prices are fair for the area. Everyone would like a cheaper pint, don't get me wrong. Most places I am in around the country it is £3.75 a pint.
One thing I will say. Where else in the area has a rotisserie....?
I have had a lot better and a lot worse. It's just nice food. With no cooking and no cleaning for you.
Been many times, since reopening. Never had a genuine complaint.
By the way what young people do you know who don't just wait for the pay check. It's not just in a pub or a waitress that's for sure.

Would give 5 stars but we had to have a table with bench seats which are unsuitable for disabled elderly people to use, and dangerous for young kids one of whom fell off backwards and banged their head. Most of the seating is normal (not bench seats), we just seem to end up on the bench seats as we're a larger party.
m. p.Went here on a Saturday evening. ..I booked a table for 6 online a couple of days before glad i did ..it was a nice sunny evening and i think that there was something going on at the national water sports center because it was packed at the pub ...people eating outside even though it was a little chilly..but we got our table and was told that it would be around 20 minutes before they would be able to take our food order because the kitchen was so busy ..when it came the food was great though..would definitely recommend and go back

I would suggest keeping more stock of syrup for your chicken and waffles however as I've been told twice so far that there was no syrup available as it was sold out at breakfast!
