Excellent friendly staff lovely atmosphere , the menu is fantastic so much I like I was definitely spoilt for choice that's why I need to go back and have them all . The seabass fillets was cooked to perfection the scallops and prawns were perfect to , all on a creamy risotto which I thoroughly enjoyed first time I've had risotto , my friend had the lovely beef pie and said best he'd had eating out it was full of meat which you don't normally get , he ate his plate clean so that said it all . We both had a dessert too which we wasn't disappointed with either , the prices were excellent as well so we will definitely be back . I've got to have the mussels in cream wine & garlic sauce with sour dough & fries . 😊

Amazing! The food is tasty and good value. Portion size on the desert could be slightly larger, but that’s just my preference. The photos on their website need updating because they have renovated inside and out looks fantastic. Highly recommend this place. Parking is free and they have ample spaces.

Visited the Horse and Groom 23/2/22 for a family get-together. James was very welcoming, there was a great choice of food and we all enjoyed our delicious meals. The service was great and everything clean and tidy. Highly recommend!

Have been here six times and I am returning next month with a group of friends. Meals are fantastic on both the main menu and on the smaller meal menu. The main meals are a bit pricey but there are cheaper options. Can get rather busy even on a week day. Staff are extremely friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. Large carpark at the back. You can eat outside at the front and the rear during warmer weather. They can cater for large groups, if warned, next month we are coming as a twenty plus party

We have been going to the Horse & Groom for the better part of 16 years now. In all of that time it has always served good food at a good price. The atmosphere is light and friendly, with a cosy interior and a spacious garden. The garden area has lots of bench seating. There is a fair amount of table & chair seating on the deck area, which during cold weather is complemented by gas heaters. There is a wooden climbing frame, and also a swing, which can keep children entertained for quite a while. The pub is dog friendly. Bar staff are happy to serve fresh water in bowls; so that your furry friend can join in a drink with family and friends. The furniture is comfortable and in great condition, indoors and outdoors. The decor has recently been update and looks really nice. There are equine themed artworks around the walls which are discrete enough not to be obtrusive, but make for interesting conversation points whilst waiting for you dinner or relaxing after a filling meal. Today we sat and had a meal. A couple of the Turkey Roasts, the Signature Fish, and Sausages for our lad. The portions are unquestionably generous and offer good value. The quality is very good (although the Yorkshire puddings could be more accurately named Yorkshire Hardtack. Other than that, the meals were very much enjoyed. Locally I would say that the food is second best only to The Thorn Tree (A610, Woodlinkin). Certainly when we are eating out, the Horse and Groom is always on the consideration list. I was disappointed with our drink order today. We had ordered a J2O (which comes from a bottle so you know what you are getting), a half pint of Guinness (which came perfectly filled with a good head), and "Two pints of Coke". It was these last drinks which were the let down. Both were served as the one you see in the photo. Now Cola is not subject to the weight and measures requirements like Alcohol is. But those glasses were barely more than half filled, and there is no way that they were a pint. In the past the glasses has always come filled properly.

The food yet again was lovely, not had the Katsu chicken before and really enjoyed it. There were 7 of us dining and had been told that they were running on a small team and there was only 1 cook.. Well they did really well, it was a little wait but worth it. The food was great for everyone and we had time to catch up too. The team were working really hard in difficult circumstances. Nice place and food, but the experience was spoiled due to Greene King's company policy on providing information on gluten free options turned a pleasant meal out into an ordeal so I doubt we will be visiting a Greene King pub again anytime soon. My reply to the response from the owners thank you for your response, but I don't need an apology, I just wanted you to know that it's not a great experience for people with food allergies when they are told that the staff cannot tell them what is gluten free. Government guidelines say that you need to provide this information, which I know that you do through the app etc, but they do not say that the staff cannot tell you what is contained within your app. We were not offered a paper copy, so we did not know this was an option. As we said at the time, this was an impulse visit as the place looked so inviting, so we didn't know about the app. When we requested a gluten free menu we were told we had to download this but we had no signal to do so in the pub, the waitress did help us out with your tablet after telling us she could not tell us if the piri chicken contained wheat, which is all we wanted to know. Our meals were nice, but then when asked if we wanted desserts the thought of going through all the fuss of the app was too much for us.I wanted to give feedback because you said this was Greene King policy and as a customer I wanted you to be in a position to feed this negative customer experience back to the policy makers. When looking at your company values our experience did not fit with any of them. Customer first - we were told you were not allowed to tell us anything, not very customer centric. We care, well no you didn't seem to care at all, only to defend company policy. Freedom to succeed - we are trusted to unleash our potential by thinking differently and doing the right thing - well we tried to tell you what the right thing was for us - just tell us if the piri piri chicken has flour in it! but to no avail. We take ownership - this is where you had a great opportunity to make me as a customer feel that you had listened to me and told me that you heard my concerns and would feed them back to Greene King, but you didn't, you made me feel that it was too much effort to provide an answer to a simple question. On your last value win learn celebrate together, let's see if this applies and you do take the opportunity to learn from how a customer feels as a recipient of the company policy.

Excellant dinning experience.. Went here on a Saturday evening, we had to book in advanced for a table. The menu gives plenty of choice, and the Christmas menu is currently available. Excellant priced menu good value for money. Our meals we're really tasty and were good portion sized. The staff seem friendly, and came to check that our meals were OK and to see if we wanted more drinks. There's plenty of room inside and outside of the Horse and Groom for sitting and having a drink/meal.. the outside seating area has heaters for cold nights. Play area available for the children. Well lighted Car park situated at the back, lots of space. Disabled parking, and access to the pub. We,ll definitely eat here again and would definitely recommend to others

May have been a off day cant say.Enjoyed the meal but the guy who owned it had it on him from the start was angry when He got drinks order wrong added drinks not asked for .miserable throughout our time there. Final outstanding event was gave someone a coffee without any coffee in it , was just hot water and milk. We asked if it could be changed but had the reply.I PRESSED THE BUTTON ONTHE MACHINE ! In the end of him seeming to be complexed and that despite his efforts pressing the button he was stuck. In rhe end he managed to bring a spoon of nescafe to put in thecup wow really. And angry again.we didn't make a fuss as it was an elderly parents 65 anniversary meal and didn't want to spoil anything but wouldn't go again even an acknowledgement would have helped, rather than him being so enoyed that he failed despite pressing g the button on the coffee machine. It was so bad it was funny in the end

Today's meal has to be said was good compared to meals we have had here in the past. Good value and excellent attentive staff make this a good dining experience. Keep it up and I can see us visiting more often. Visit No 2: Well it wasn't long before we went back two days later and once again we had an excellent meal. So I have no hesitation in saying that the cuisine at the pub has improved significantly. I had the gammon steak and it was very succulent and the chips are among the best I have tasted. Well done. We'll be back again for another meal soon. ( The portions are quite generous too!) Third visit: Food good and very pleasant staff 😊

Just returned home after having Sunday Roasts today with our friends. Thank you all for all your hard work. The staff are lovely. The food was first class. I had roast Turkey. I must say out of all the places I have eaten out and had a roast this was by far the best ever. Nice selection of veg and all my favourites. Pig in blanket, Yorkshire and stuffing. Nice portions and presented brilliantly. Just enough. Not a massive amount that makes you feel full before you eat it. My friends agree too. We felt treated so well and it was like us meeting up for a Christmas dinner we could not do at the time. Thank you all so much. See you again soon. Ian

Service was slow but we were not in a hurry so didn't really matter initially. Food was disappointing to say the least!, some of it was cold, not meant to be! We took four friends to The Horse and Groome last Wednesday evening for a meal We have never been there before so didn’t know what to expect. We were very pleasantly impressed. Our four friends are very fussy eaters. Everyone of us enjoyed our food and ate everything on our plates. I personally had a medium rare sirloin steak with pepper corn sauce. It was the best steak I have ever had. Big compliments to the chef who we were told was called Monica. The staff were very pleasant too. We would recommend the food to everybody. Well done Monica

Just been there with my Dad & Co for his birthday. Great evening. Good, friendly staff and quick service (about half an hour wait for food at peak time on a Saturday). Currently there's the COVID-19 protection measures in place and they were all followed very well. I had the beef and ale pie and it was delicious. Other people in the party who had it agreed, so I'd recommend that. Definitely a recommendation from me for a party or a drop-in meal!

This pub has a great feel to it. Lots of original features, different areas so you feel it is private and range of table designs and sizes. Good range of alcoholic and soft drinks. The hot drinks are nice too. We all had the fish finger sandwich for lunch. It was beautiful and I would highly recommend it. The staff are polite and helpful. Overall a really good visit.

Me and my girlfriend are very much regulars here. The food is amazing and always served within a reasonable amount of time. My partner this time had the steak which was cooked to perfect and I had the chicken wraps which once again were perfect. The food is very reasonably priced compared to similar diners within the area. Staff are friendly and always happy to help if something is not quite right. If you are to go here please try the warm chocolate brownie for desert as I think it is the best in Nottingham! Very nice setting inside and always looks nice. Also is in a very nice location. Would highly recommend to anyone. Please visit as I know you will not be disappointed!

We've just had lunch here, and it was delicious. Great choice on the menu, I had a gourmet burger, but I was told the beef and ale pie was one of the best they'd ever had. However tonight i ordered lamb shoulder with seasonal veg and champ, gotta say what i got i wouldnt have given my dog was a gnarly boney fatty piece of lamb looked quite unappetising and normal mash not champ no spring onions plus where veg had been put on plate was swimming in water and gravy was just like bistro pretty disappointed to say the least 😕

We were a group of 11. The staff were very nice and attentive. I ordered the special hunters chicken, which was nice but didn't really come through on the extraness I was wanting. Also it was a very small portion, in fact everyone's meal was small and we were all still hungry after we had eaten, so onto dessert - I had the Eton mess sundae which was delicious, I think that the desserts are slightly expensive for what you get. As for accessibility we parked in the car park and went in the back door. There's quite a walk down a slope, two tight doors and a small step. It would be a struggle for a wheelchair user. I don't know if the front door would be more accessible, it felt like a very long walk back to the car.

The wife and I came for dinner last night but left disappointed. We both fancied the fillet steak but as usual they didnt have any so we went for sirloin. The arrival of the food was quick but what was presented was not the usual standard. What was presented was half a tomato, a pile of chips and the steak, that's it, no salad or peas until we complained then they brought us some peas. We ordered medium but ended up with medium to well done which ruined the meat. also, dont expect to have your drinks delivered to your table if you are eating in the bar, this luxury is for those eating in the restaurant. So although you pay the same price, you dont get the same service. My glass was empty so I asked the waitress for a drink but was told to go and order at the bar. All well and good but when its busy you can be stood for 10 mins, this means you either go thirsty or let your food go cold. Small changes are all that is needed to get the pub back to the standards of old

I specially like the fact that it's some of the traditional dishes that come as a vegan option so I don't feel left out. Lovely pub with a great garden which we were lucky enough to be able to sit in and eat our meal until quite late. We ordered the steaks being as it was steak night which made them excellent value. The steak was delicious and very tender but all three were ordered as medium however arrived well done. No steak knives were provided to us but after we'd finished we spotted that some tables were provided with them. To be honest there was a shortage of cutlery all round (when eating outside you collect your own from cutlery stations) plus condiments. It was a beautiful evening and it appeared that they'd been taken by surprise as there didn't seem to be enough staff on duty to cope with demand (& those on duty were inexperienced?) as numerous tables were left uncleared despite staff returning to the building empty handed. Despite these niggles we had a pleasant meal and will return

It was a nice surprise to see the food seemed to be freshly cooked rather than frozen, not very common for a pub restaurant. We did have an issue with the service in that they didn't bring out the three kids meals with the rest and when we enquired about them, they told us that they had been overlooked but they would get them out as soon as possible. We had all finished our meals by the time the kids meals came out. Following this we then had to wait twenty minutes after the adults desserts we're delivered and ask twice for the kids desserts (a few scoops of ice cream) to be served. They did take the kids meals off the bill.
