This was our first visit to the Rose & Crown and what a little hidden gem it is. Upon our arrival we were greated by a very friendly member of staff, nothing was too much trouble and the chef even put Happy birthday on a plate as requested with our desert. All the staff were really friendly & welcoming. Food was very tasty and of a high standard. Service was very quick & efficient. Everything was on point went above & beyond our expectations & more. If you havent tried it yet i highly recommend giving it a go you wont be disappointed. Thank-you guys keep doing what you all are doing to make this place a great place to eat. Ok so, there is nothing negative about this awesome pub. The biggest things for me that I find unbelievably outstanding are: Sooooo Dog friendly. My dog, Biscuits has been going in from the very first day we got here. She knows all the staff, I honestly think her tail will fall off one day it wags sooooo much. On arrival she literally pulls me in the door! She bombs around looking for her friends: Steph, Dawn, Bernadet, and everyone else………..She gets an abundance of love (& treats) and truly loves going to her local to see everyone 🐾 Staff instantly ask if they want a bowl of water, give fuss, fuss & more fuss! Dog waffle over, other things re Rose n Crown…….. Family Run. Steph - Landlady is simply the best. So friendly, welcoming, supportive to her staff, great with customers and cannot do enough for the customers. All the staff are great, to name a few….Dawn, Rob, Simone, Bernadet, absolutely everyone else. Food great. Toilets clean. Any problems (extremely rare) are sorted immediately. Very Covid aware-hygiene is paramount to them. I could go on forever! To summarise, go to the Rose & Crown! No other pub around comes even close to this! It’s like one big family and and Biscuit and I, like everyone else, is made to feel part of it. Top place! 🥰😎🐾🐾x

Friendly and welcoming staff - great food and good beer. Was part of a very large party, in which they managed to get pretty much all of the food out in a reasonable time. There were a few outliers - however, with the numbers involved, they did a grand job. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Not often very fond of chain pubs but this was one of, if not the, best one recollection offers. The behaviour of the staff was extremely professional, as well as being exceptionally helpful and friendly. Extra special thanks to the wonderful Kirsty, who was particularly attentive and accommodating, but all of the staff who helped us were great. The food was prepared perfectly, portions were very generous and prices were really reasonable. Even under very difficult family circumstances (we were staying in the area because a family member was in ICU) the experience of eating at the Rose and Crown was very enjoyable because we were welcomed warmly and served conscientiously in a comfortable, clean environment. The other patrons were polite and peaceful, too. Top marks. Highly recommended!

A very well managed, lively and vibrant pub, which serves great food, and show all sports on TV. The Staff were excellent and went out of their way to accommodate in a very busy atmosphere.The beer is very good and reasonably priced, looks to be mainly a student pub. But there are also a lot of older couples and sport fans. They also have various evening entertainment. Will definitely be back.

Have been a regular at the Rose and Crown for the past 5 years. Can only attest to what other comments have said, it is truly fantastic. The food, drinks and service are stellar. All of the staff are lovely. In particular, Bernadette always makes customers feel welcome and goes above and beyond to provide excellent service with a smile! It was a busy night so food was slower than usual, which is fair enough. The food was good for the price, hot and plentiful. The staff were nice although they were losing their patience as the night went on, probably due to the busyness. Overall good.

Spent the Afternoon sat outside in the sunshine on the Jubilee Friday. A fab live band was playing 90s tunes, all tables were full and it was also busy inside the pub. Ordered food on the app and didn't have to wait long at all. All the staff were really friendly , several different members of staff asked us if everything was OK with our food as they came in and out with peoples food and drink orders. The table was cleared quickly , we didnt have to go to the bar once for drinks as the staff were super attentive. Greene king pub so food was cheap but cooked well and tasty, good menu .

Angela is such a breath of fresh air. A lady who exudes class and demands awe from all who encounter her. Never has a maiden so fair blessed the lives of so many. A true great of the 21st century and her skills as a barmaid are akin to that of an all time great. Thank you Angela for a wonderful evening. Louise equally as lovely and graceful. Never has anyone worked a tap aswell as her. I could not recommend this place enough.

We were just stopping off for a quick drink before carrying on to another pub .when we arrived we were asked if we were eating and we said maybe. The staff were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble we went to the bar and a lady named Angela said to sit down and she will get our drinks over to us to save us queuing which was good news 😉. Then a guy sorry we didn't get his name but he was very smiley and kept coming up to us to check we were OK and that was a lovely touch too.there was background music which was good. But at 2 o'clock Conrad Stobbs sang live. Now I'm not one for live music but he had me dancing in my seat. We had dinner which was nice and Dee was lovley too.cant believe what a lovely time we had when we weren't out for anything special but thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon . Can't fault this place or the service the staff give. I know a chain pub/restaurant isn't for everyone but can't fault the quality of the food cooked, or the cost. Prepping and serving 27 meals all within a 5 min time frame is great going.

It’s a large pub with a slightly sport-bar like feel. Still, it is a good spot to meet friends before heading into town. Had lasagne for lunch and unfortunately I can’t recommend that as it tasted more like something from a frozen packet.

Me and my family of 32 people booked in for my mums 50th birthday meal. We absolutely loved it. The fact that there was 32 of us was no problem at all, the meals came out very fast, the food was absolutely beautiful and everyone really enjoyed the evening. You were amazing and I can't thank you enough for making it such a memorable and enjoyable experience. Visited on Monday 17 September 2018 with my husband after not having been in the Rose & Crown for 20 odd years! Wasn't sure what to expect but how pleasantly surprised were we. Access into the building is flat and also to the dining area and bar. There is a large seating area at the front outside and the car park is to the side of the building. The mens toilets are near the front entrance and ladies and disabled are nearer the back - all clean. There is a Function room upstairs (not seen since 1988 though!!) The floor throughout was clean and tables were swiftly emptied and cleaned after customers left. Some of the fixed seating looked a little tired and in need of a change but nothing wrong with the decor on the whole. We found a table and looked at the vast menu. It was Steak Monday so I had a Ribeye at a discount price of £8.50 with side of onion rings £1.49 but my husband wanted to try an Apocalypse Cow Burger £9.99. It took about 30 minutes for our order to arrive but was well worth the wait. My husband's burger (x4 topped with bacon, cheese and pulled pork) was massive and served with chips, corn, coleslaw and onion rings. My steak came on a sizzle and served with chips, peas, tomato, fried onions and mushroom. Beautifully cooked and the best burger my husband had eaten he said (even though he was very very full and struggled to finish his pint after dinner!) The bar staff were friendly and very helpful. The Guinness was a lovely pint. Nothing to fault there. We decided on the back of the good service and food to book for our family of 6 on Boxing Day! £13.99 for 3 courses. £10.99 for 2 courses - bargain. I had been in contact with Steph via Facebook messenger to ask massive amounts of questions as my sister in law is in a wheelchair but never did a negative reply come back and everything could be sorted stress free - thanks so much Steph! So on Thursday 20 September we went back to book and pay deposits for Boxing Day lunch for the 6 of us and while we were there had the Signature Stack Burger £7.99 on the BOGOF offer followed by Cookie Dough Cheesecake £3.99 and Epic Choctastic Sundae £4.49 faultless again. It was much busier when we walked in but still got our order in 15 minutes without fault. Tracey sorted our booking for Boxing Day and nothing was too much trouble, even during a mad busy service - thank you. I'm so thankful we thought let's give the Rose & Crown a go as we definitely will be back for more food before Christmas! The relaxed atmosphere, friendly and accommodating staff have made our choice an easy one so thanks and praise all round.

A big open pub with plenty of tables. I didn't particularly rate my Signature burger although my wife and kids were fine with their food. Prices were very good as burgers were under £10 when I'd been to a lot of pubs recently where they were charging close to £15. Service was quick and staff were polite and helpful. Loved the graffiti in the toilet. Haven't seen that type of graffiti in a pub's toilet for years. Clearly a football pub. Brought a smile to my face.

We were staying just round the corner for a football tournament, and a few of us decided to have a few drinks and watch the Lions test in the Rose and Crown – What a fantastic, welcoming pub – nothing was too much trouble... very pleasant, helpful staff. Big shout out to Angela who was 'hospitality personified' – I wish we had pubs like this down South – definitely coming back if I am ever in Nottingham!

Had the Sunday dinner and it was huge, enough for 2 people. Its definitely quantity over quality but the prices they charge more than make up for it. If your a starving student then this is a place for you and a friend to share, especially if your happy to have what's on offer that day. The car park is chargeable but you get it refunded against you first order.

Came to watch boxing, Saturday evening, a very busy Pub/Restaurant both inside and out, this did become less busy as the evening wore on. There are many TV's so viewing was never in doubt, great ambiance. Some of the chair's were rather uncomfortable and had passed their sell by date, this said, it didn't hinder the enjoyment. Table service for drinks only, surprised me, but I took full advantage. Will visit again to have a meal, I will then update this review.

An average pub. Nothing to write home about. The central location, parking, the large portion sizes and friendly staff push a grimy, poorly maintained and very grotty looking place to just average. However the pub is clearly popular especially among students who enjoy themselves and are allowed to do so by the great staff. The food looks good and the pub smells great. Walk in and you will definitely eat. I will go back but it isn't a favourite.

Firstly you have to take this pub for what it is it's not expensive and it is mainly populated by people from the local University and from the QMC hospital across the road. I had the most humongous steak and there were some discount applied on the evening as part of a promotion they were having an only paid about £13 for a 24 ounce steak loaded with bacon and cheese so I'd say it very good value for money to be honest. The only criticism would be that it is a large venue but they don't really have the bar space for the amount of people wanting to order and there can sometimes be a little bit of a queue. That being said value for money facilities and quality of food it gets 4 stars from me because it cannot be easy doing that many meals without making a pig's ear of it!

the crown rose staff did seem from my experience to be quite light hearted and kind to their customers and the service that is presented to customers has efficiency within their scope, food arrived very fast during a day in which the crown and rose was unusually busy. This leaves me with the conclusion that during any other day the service would be of similar standard or greater. Food was also of good quality, some meals may not be worth the price given however I had a bacon burger and that seemed to have a sufficient and fairly outlined smoke grilled taste that left me satisfied to say the money i had spend for this meal was a measily £6 pounds, yes there are aspects of the burger that still leave more to be desired, such as the bread rolls didn't seem dough like as id usually prefer, however I understand this is something many take different preference. the chips also had a unique and crispy smoke grilled taste in which I also highly liked and something that wasn't left catching flies for long. over all the food, drink and service was delivered with customers at heart, one aspect that maybe of complaint I believe some meals do take much longer to cook especially if your in a large group however this is to be expected.

Spending ££s to choose to eat out on Christmas Day is a bit daunting. A great place for a pub lunch with the unwritten motto of 'go big, or go home'. Everything you can order seems guaranteed to hit the spot. When I visited I opted for the King Size Mixed Grill and 'king sized' it was. The steaks (yes, there were two) were perfectly cooked, and the chicken breasts (yes, there were two) juicy and generous in size. Add on to that a large pork sausage, chips and a spicy dip and you're not going to need to eat at all again today. The puddings are of equally competitive size too and will challenge even the greatest appetites into a guilt-ridden gorge to clean the plate after a sizeable dose of meat. You'd think the prices would be higher to match, but two King Size Mixed Grills and two Chocolate Fudge Cakes came to just £30. Not at all a problem for the sheer amount of food you get. The service isn't perfect, but hey, it's a gastro pub. Perhaps it shouldn't be the case but don't we expect the student based staff to be somewhat lackadaisical and forget the odd bit of cutlery now and then. If you were picking a dining experience based on service first and foremost, you were probably never even considering a gastro-pub in the first place. As a final word, skip breakfast. You're going to need the space.

Im on table 41 my wife to be is eating a £7 chicken dinner..ive just whoofed a mixed grill burger in a bab with fries onion rings salad you get chicken gammon beef its £8 were both on £2 a glass diet coke its cooked to perfection good portions...lots of back ground banter...puddings NO NEVER UKIP....as in we go home slice up a vienetta will we be back yes 100% tables clean food 20mins staff beautiful attitude

As a lad growing up in Nottingham in the 40s and 50s this was my dads favourite watering hole,the then landlord was an Everard Mills and for pocket money on sundays I would wash his car.My dad has just bought himself a 1954 Ford Zephyr Zodiac with white wall tyres and painted blue and white what an eyeturner.The pub inside when I sneeked a looked looked very welcoming.I now live in Tasmania Australia and theres nothing here to equal the old Rose and Crown.Bye the way the head barman was a Burma Road Thailand survivor from ww2.
