I come here often when I’m in Nottingham as I know I’m going to get good cocktails. Fact. I never been disappointed with the drinks.
Only eaten here once and we got a selection of starters, tapas style!
Lollipop tempura prawns and squid were the standouts.
I would not hesitate to come back and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place for drinks and some food!
E. M.Cocktails are a work of art and priced accordingly. It’s definitely worth a visit for the spectacular, theatrical drink making. It was difficult to get a seat even though there were empty tables in the reserved area that didn’t fill in all the time we were there but we had a lovely time nonetheless.

We had a sharer between three of us and there was plenty of food, the drinks were dramatic and tasted great! The brunch was such a great concept and the fact that you could either choose 3 cocktails and a dish or unlimited cocktails and a dish was a great idea too. The food was delicious and just the right amount for an earlier morning meal, while the cocktails were light and refreshing. The servers and staff were friendly and kind and it was so kind of them to offer a flask as a gift for my cousin too. Thank you so much for such a great experience!

I love loud music but I was with a group of friends and it was hard to chat and catch up.
It was fun seeing bubbling cocktails in unique containers like test tubes and lots of people taking photos of their drinks.
My food was nice ,not amazing for the price.
I had a Pina cola and it wasn't great either.
It didn't have the milky coconut flavour which they are known for which was very disappointing.
My bill came to 32 pounds for one drink and two starters .
I wouldn't be in a hurry to visit again

J.I really hoped the best place for cocktails in Nottingham wouldn’t be a chain, but it is. The alchemist blows the rest out of the water in every way. The drinks not only are very flashy and instagram-able but actually taste nice too which other places seem to miss; often going overboard on the performance and forfeiting taste. The service is the best we’ve ever seen, the barista was attentive, accommodating and highly skilled. Couldn’t recommend more, 10/10
T. W.Table was slightly late, hence the 4*. We had a "difficult" eater (egg allergy) with us and she was adequately catered for. Sourdough bread roll wasn't what I expected. I was expecting a crisp baked bread roll but the one I got was soft. Minor issues which didn't effect the experience.

The cocktails are without doubt the best in Nottingham.
The Staff are exceptional and well trained and professional. They go over and beyond to ensure your time spent there is memorable.
The restaurant is cozy and the menu has some great well priced dishes.
The food is consistently good and again the restaurant staff are polite and helpful.
We love this bar and restaurant and it’s a weekly treat.

Service was really great, they are really attentive and lovely. The atmosphere is very nice I would definitely recommend and they play a nice mix of classic pop songs.

m. “.Can never go-wrong with a cocktail stop at the Alchemist. Visited on a Sunday with friends so was fortunate to get a table and served very quickly.
The making of drinks is always good-watching but the friendliness of the service really distinguishes Nottingham's Alchemist than others I've visited in the past.
Haven't had the food before but definitely want to try at some point in the future.

R. S.Here's the crazy thing about the Alchemist: it's completely over the top in the best possible way. Yes you pay a premium for everything, but by jove the cocktails are amongst the best in Nottingham, the food is a cut above, and the service is to die for.
Oh, and the decor is sublime. It feels like a slice of New York or LA landed in Nottingham and demands that you start your night or end your day in style. That, and every cocktail is an event behind the bar. Theatre, pure and simple.
o.Brilliant! Expensive but really fun to have such inventive cocktails served at your table. Quick service too, even on a Saturday night. Don't go unless you're happy spending £10 per drink - but we'll worth it, we clocked up a £90 bill!

J. A.Some of the most amazing food I've ever eaten. The popcorn chicken for my starter was the best I've eaten by far. The drinks were spectacular. The bartender ayishia made me an amazing mocktail for me as I have an intolerance to alcohol. She went out of her way for me which was much appreciated. Our server jac was the friendliest and happiest server I've met. He went out of his way to make our time there a brilliant one. Best time we've had out for a meal. Thanks guys. Will be back for sure again. So worth the trip from Cambridge.

We visited this The Alchemist last week to celebrate a birthday. Having not been in for over a year it is easy to forget just how well designed the decor is!! It really is excellent and worth of popping in just to look at! The atmosphere is well crafted with the decor, lighting and music to give it a timeless feel.
There is good variety in the drinks menu, which has grown since our last visit. The cocktails are all very innovative and provide something a little different whether that be smoke, sugar glass on top or a ball of gold glitter! The food was also up to the high standard you would expect in a place like this, although I would recommend getting a side or two to share if you are particularly hungry.
All of the staff we had contact with were very friendly and knowledgeable about both the food and drink. I tip my hat to all those staff working the night we visited as a diner on one of the other tables appeared to enjoy the cocktails a little too much and proceeded to be sick by his chair. The staff quickly sorted the problem out - dealing with it in a professional way that did not attract unwanted attention to either the gentleman or the situation.
Great establishment. Somewhere I would definitely recommend.

Newly opened in Nottingham well worth booking in advance as the restaurant as it gets very busy. We went here for my birthday meal. They have a wide range of cocktails to choose from, all with their own special twist like colour changing drinks, smoke infused, at more! The drinks menu is well laid out in categories to make it easier. We ordered mac n cheese bites and olives to start. Followed by beetroot risotto and chicken ramen. Our waitress was very friendly and chatty. Decor was very nice as was the atmosphere. I will definitely be visiting this place again.

They never stop believing in the eternal living light that is anyone of us and keep pushing their limits to the absolute so to redeem the people of Hunger Games.
The Menu is just like the Book of life where if you look you can instantly find your new name - The Light Force!
The drinks are made of passion and pure intention giving you insights in the most desired spiritual worlds and giving you the craving for a never ending experience of them.
I have enjoyed very much talking to the staff, admiring this grandiose flawless piece of art and the taste of my cocktail called The Force - The Light.
I am being grateful for the joyful warmness of this place that I really needed tonight.

Finally got to visit a few weeks ago it was really nice inside, eclectic bar side decor, modern stylish seating area, great place to take someone you want to impress.
The drinks menu is amazing, even down to the fancy fold out design, lot of effort gone into the menu I think.
The drinks we had were amazing, really creative and fun, some dry ice for good measure.
I think it's quite expensive but obviously you pay for the effort that's gone into the place, good for a novelty but probably wouldn't want to stay all day, you'd go broke!

Not many places in Nottingham are anywhere near Nice as this. Could easily pass off as a London bar.

M. P.Visited here for a Birthday meal as a family, we booked in advance as thought it would be busy. It was around lunchtime and seemed very quiet. Had good choice of foods and cocktails. My daughter was given a free cocktail for her birthday (any from the menu). The waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks and took his time explaining everything. He left before we had finished our meal but came over to say a waitress would look after us, she however was not particularly good.
The food was good and we had no complaints although prices are a bit steep.
I expect it is very popular at night and we may come back one night for drinks. The interior of the building is very nice and not like I have seen before.
I would have given 5 stars but we had breakfast there a few days after and it was absolutely awful. We had scrambled eggs with salmon and an English breakfast. The portions were tiny and cold and definitely not value for money. Would never come here for breakfast again.

V. H.We had dinner here on Saturday night - the food was amazing! So tasty and good portion sizes. The cocktails, which is one of the reasons we went were good but not as good as I thought they were going to be. They were slow to arrive, the first one took 30 minutes to arrive so we ordered the next ones as the first ones arrived just in case! The air conditioning was one and it was cold in there, it also ruined the cherry cocktails as they could not get the bubble on top because it kept popping due to the AC. The food totally rescued our experience!

Even early on Saturday the music was really loud though and everyone had to shout to talk - even small tables, so it was very noisy and not ideal for a catch up with friends after all this time.

The bar is well stocked and watching the staff work their magic with ice and flames, dry ice, Bunsen burners, torches and more, is a real spectacle. Highly recommended place to drop by.

Cocktails that pop and fizz with dramatic flair, a solid-looking menu (chicken in a basket was a winner), even the breakfast tea smokes upon arrival! If anything I'd say the staff were a little over-eager, but it's a minor quibble. They were lovely. Medium-range prices, and you can come for drinks only and sit at the bar.

It was my natural choice for a location to celebrate my 22nd anniversary with my husband who was, once again, exhausted from just having arrived from Florida. So he was as blitzed as we both were the first time, but I was feeling fine as I had stayed behind.

The vibe is good, but really overpriced and gimmicky drinks/products. After the first snap, crackle and pop, there's nothing left except for a drink you didn't think you'd hate. Regardless, a place worthy visiting. I'd rather prefer the other location though.

L. R.There are very few words to describe this place. It is beyond 5 stars, 6 at least. Start with the bad, it's a little cramped and a little pricey. But you will enjoy yourself. Say 1/3 of the price is for the show as the bar staff send flames 4 feet off the counter. For the looks on people's faces as they're passed a bauble spewing dry ice instead of a glass. We sat on the bar and watched our bar tender all night, she was fantastic, kept no one waiting and the flames jumping.
Will be going back for sure. Whichever mad man is coming up the cocktail ideas, bravo.

S. L.If you fancy cocktails with a twist you should definitely check out The Alchemist. I visited I went for a smokey themed cocktail, similar to a mojito (I believe) and was thoroughly enjoyed. As for food I opted for the fish finger sandwich which is amazing.
The atmosphere which these drinks create is great as everyone is trying to see how each cocktail was made. Some point there was massive flames in the air as one of the more exotic cocktails were being made.
My concern is with access, especially with how steep the ramp is when you enter through the side door.
c. g.Went here for cocktails with a few friends on a late Monday afternoon. Left the barman to conjour up the drinks. Lightbulb effect as well as smoke, fire and colour changing drinks soon appeared. Was as enjoyable to watch their creation as enjoying the taste. Didn't have food so can't rate but would certainly return.

E. A.Not somewhere I'd go to again. We were a party of 4 and literally had to shout to hear each other over the music. The cocktails looked fancy but didn't taste like anything special. As for the food; 2 people out of our group had the Korean fried chicken burger and really enjoyed that. Another person the lamb kofta and said it was unseasoned and I had the Buddha bowl (very limited vegan options) and only enjoyed the brocoli on there. The meal was not tasty.

Firstly the venue is gorgeous. With old but high-end tiling and high ceilings the Alchemist resembles an old bank giving it a luxurious feel. The staff are very attentive and are always happy to help and engage you when visiting, with the theatrical cocktails taking centre stage.
The food would be best described as fusion and is delicious and high quality. A lot of attention to detail has gone into the menu and the appearance and taste of each dish and it shows.
The drinks are where this attention to detail really shines. Each drink is expensive, but worth it with many complex flavours, fire, smoke, and some magic being involved in serving your drink.
I would really recommend the Alchemist for a date night, celebration or for a cocktail enthusiast. I for one will be coming back soon!

I'd describe The Alchemist as the "Antiwetherspoons", the decor is wHimsical, great atmosphere, it's facilities are underground, it's more expensive (but worth it) and staff look like they actually want to be there.
Our table service was great, I enjoyed the show cocktails, my steak came as ordered and the kids meals were displayed wonderfully. I would like to single out the server/greeter who attended to us for special recognition but I unfortunately can't remember her name (sorry). I will definitely go here again should I find myself in Nottingham in the future. Thank you for a great couple of hours. 🙂👍

We really enjoyed our drinks and food. I forgot my sunglasses on my way out. Aisha was kind enough to bring them outside as we were leaving. Over the moon with the service, food and experience. Will definitely be back again soon!

They were also friendly outside of making the drinks and had time to be friendly to everyone in the bar
The drinks themselves didn't just look great, but tasted incredible as well. There is a huge selection for different tastes - sweet, mint, creamy etc.
I would highly recommend. The cocktails, generally, cost £8-£10 which realistically isn't a lot of a cocktail, and these are mind-blowing and incredible tasting cocktails. If you're a fan of cocktails, there isn't a better place in Nottingham

The cocktails always look amazing - with dry ice, great use of props and imaginative staging - but that usually comes as a detriment to the flavour. Still a good place to take a someone, as it's impossible not to marvel at the visual side of things.

The cocktail list is build to be the most "instagramable" looking drinks, with smoke, fire and other ways to make them look great. And although I love the idea of having so many different choices, I can't help but feel like the 8£ - 10£ price tag is a bit much. You mostly pay the price for a nice picture rather than a nice drink. As hard as bartending is, if I'm the only one ordering at the bar, there is no need to go to the speed of light and fail all your cuts, spilling half the drink on the bar mat. Staff were lovely though !

It would be five stars but was perturbed by the fact that they kept £10 of our deposit without deducting it from the bill. 1 of our party was sick with flu on the day and couldn't make it but we were still a party of 5 and turned up on time as per the original booking. I could understand keeping it if we were a no show or significantly different numbers but as it was we still spent a significant amount of money and took up the same table space (tables were set out for either 2s, 4s or 6s). They also only informed us of the deduction after I queried why the full £60 deposit wasn't on there. Something to be aware of if you are booking for a party if you can't guarantee 100% attendance you may lose money!

S. W.A bit pricey but worth the spectacle and the cocktails. They're food was nice but not worth the price, you could tell they had tried hard with the food but it wasn't quite there. Go for the cocktails and the nibbles, but would recommend for cocktails as the staff were lovely and really helpful.
J. T.Made a fantastic start to my night :) after just popping in for cocktails we received blinding service from Ben on the bar, unfortunately he held back the “alchemy secrets” to the drinks no matter how hard we dug.
We were so impressed we changed our plans for dinner and decided to eat there, Ben on the bar mentioned his favourites for us to consider when we mentioned this. Our waitress Kate was polite friendly and professional all round. We filled up with fillet steak and finished with the posset and baked alaska. All of which were perfectly made.

T. H.As you'd expect with a bar serving fancy cocktails the service is slow. This is slowly becoming the norm so we're all getting used to it. That aside the cocktails are served with a theatrical flair and are very nice!

Emily has said it was the best meal she's ever had and I think it is certainly up there with the best in Nottingham city.

A. J.Visited the Alchemist around 7pm on Monday, and would definitely recommend it as worth a visit. I would break it down as the following:
Cocktails - 5 star
Service - 5 star, quick, attentive and very friendly
Atmosphere - 5 star
Food - 3 star, unfortunately the burger I had was very average, my wife’s tuna wasn’t too bad.
Overall, I would definitely go back, probably just for cocktails.
