Lovely building. Like a pub and registry office all in one.
Great for small weddings, as it has almost everything... car park, history, small area for photos outside. However, was a little let down on the food. Sour dough toast, which was like a rock. And brocoli that was crunchy.... to the point of being almost fresh. Staff were very casual too. Nice staff mind... nothing wrong with them, just not smart. Not quite wedding....

The Embankment is a spectacularly beautiful, very large pub to the south of Nottingham centre, between the station and the Trent Bridge cricket stadium. A good place for cask ale lovers, and a great venue for hanging out for a couple of hours. Friendly staff, wonderful, extensive outside seating area, and not too loud. What's not to like?

I am bound to be bias as my wife and I had our wedding here which was obviously the 2nd best day in both our lives (so far)
However we have always had great service the regular food is awesome and one of the many reasons we love going. This also benefits from being like all the other Castle Rocks in Nottingham in that it serves a large variety of different draught.
It is stupidly busy on Forest match days but don't let the que for the bar put you off the staff know exactly what they are doing and you can been seen too in a matter of minutes.
The great outdoor seating means the pub is perfect no matter the season.
The building is also an old Boots Pharamacy (hence the decor) so if you haven't been go
I've attached some photos of the wedding day incase any of you are looking at this review are considering it as a location for your function.

A very good Sunday Lunch.
The pub is part of the Castle Rock group so the food is usually good. The portions and quality of food is on average a little better here than some others from the same brewery.
The beef was tender and not too fatty. The roast potatoes were excellent. Another dish purchased was the Brie Wellington which was good. I'm not a parsnip fan but the shaved parsnips were actually rather nice.
The only reason why I have given this 4 stars is because the outside could have been a little cleaner as there were a number of cigarette ends strewn around the beer garden.
C. M.
This is such a great pub! The history of the building is nicely represented and the staff are friendly.
The beer choice is very good indeed and the food is incredible. Check out the Sunday roast and you won't be disappointed, I assure you!
The staff are really good at taking into account dietary requirements such as vegan or gluten free. Highly recommended.

Nothing really wrong with the place just need the bar management to be different on Match days. Waiting 35mins to get served is not really good enough. Just a bit of advice from another bar owner maybe have a bottle only section, and only have one lager one cider on and a member of staff just keeps pouring lager not serving. It will speed service up loads. Like I said still a great bar

Service was a little slow and had to check where our food order had got to. On arrival it wasn't entirely hot....but it was excellent quality. The staff were also pleasant. Would have been 5 stars if we hadn't waited so long and the food was hot but would definitely go again.

We booked two tables of 6 for a meal after training. We actually had more people at training than we expected and turned up with 17 people, but the staff were extremely accommodating despite also hosting a wedding party. We were given the whole conservatory to ourselves, which was especially kind as Forest were playing and the pub was about to get very busy. Our waitress, El, was excellent. She made sure to take our food order so that we would get it before they got too busy. We didn't wait long for food at all considering they had the wedding party as well. The food was also absolutely excellent, with plenty of vegan options. 10/10, absolutely recommend.

Took my daughter and her friends for a birthday meal on a Sunday, and what a treat it was! Great food at a very reasonable price. I just wish I'd created more room in my belly to finish my enormous roast lamb...
T.
Lovely place. Very welcoming. Food was nice except gravy ran out and had to wait a while for refills. Other than that very nice Sunday lunch.
R. S.
One of the best pubs in Nottingham. Castle Rock know how to put on a do. Drinks are all good, with an amazing gin selection.
P.
Could do with some basic cleaning outside. Lots of rubbish on the floor and dirty ashtrays in the outside area. Otherwise it's generally a nice spot to enjoy a beer, lots of selection at the bar and friendly bar staff.
S. B.
Fantastic place. Great layout with a large outside area. Castle Rock pub which means I can spend hours in here. 20-30 minute walk from the city centre but Trent Bridge boasts a number of pubs in the area. Contender for the best pub in the city.
D. A.
Good selection of ales. Great post-Cricket location. Decent beer garden out back. Service pretty good, even when busy.
D. L.
Nice place great staff. We had a wedding there during the Covid pandemic so it was a little on the odd side. The food was lovely the bride looked wonderful. Beers were top notch. The new staff member was very helpful and clearly an asset to the team.

Dull & cold day out from wilford bridge to Trent bridge, over hours enjoyment
on my mobility scooter, there is very tarmac path all flare easy going,
passing people friendly , it was interesting n beautiful you could see
passed history, good cafe at the start & public house at Trent bridge
few minutes walk of the tram n lots of buses at pub end,

Went to a comedy night here. Great entertainment. Hot drinks served but not all night. Nice atmosphere.
A. M.
Delicious squash burrito, staff very friendly & went out there way to check for no soya. Will definitely return.
D. S.
Nice place but the prices of drink are expensive they might get more customers dropping in if the price was cheaper being greedy gets you nowhere look at witherspoons across the road compared to you for the same drinks
N. B.
Really great place for lunch and a drink.
Plenty of room inside and out..parking available..
Staff are very friendly and helpful..
S. O.
Lovely building, with an option to sit in the bar or lounge area. When we visited there was a party upstairs which was loud (not the end of the world though as it was a Saturday night!) but not the usual range of beers available
A. B.
Went in for a pint after cricket so arrived later in the evening. Very quiet when we arrived and managed to get a table but a couple of beers were out (it was later in the day) and not coming back on. Filled up really quickly with cricket fans and had a good atmosphere. Staff served everyone quickly but still a small queue at the bar because of number of people. Really nice outside area and seating. Good beers and worth visiting but if you don't like crowds avoid times around football/cricket.
P. S.
Great pub. Good atmosphere. Especially on match day. Great beer..
T. C.
Excellent pub with a great breakfast and loads of top beers. 👍
C. C.
Lovely pub with a great selection of beers, nice decoration and a good atmosphere. Not too busy or noisy on a Saturday night.
M. F.
Great food and great beer! Loved the live music on Friday, too!
A. D.
Gorgeous food, good craft ciders and beers, staff were very friendly and helpful with the baby.
J. R.
Love the Embankment. Probably our favourite pub in Nottingham and surrounding area. Good drinks, food, music, service, ambiance. Can't fault it.
D. B.
Good service and food. Would recommend. A bit of Nottingham history preserved into a pub. 👏🏻👍🏻
P. S.
A great place, buzzing on a Saturday night. Great Covid procedures, staff great, ordering system great, food spot on, don’t be out off by the look of outside, get in and enjoy!!!
A. B.
Fantastic time at the riverside festival, the fireworks were amazing "Thank You". Everyone happy and no trouble in sight. 'Great'. Thank you to the organisers and the patrols (police) keeping us safe and for the bus stewards after the event making sure we all got on the long queue of buses lol, without any problems.
a. b.
Beautiful place with stunning views, very relaxing to walk down.
You can also catch a ride on The Princess river boat.

Wow - Tastiest Sunday Roast!
2 Sunday roast dinners ordered, two very happy customers! A great roast dinner, crispy roast potatoes, seasonal veg cooked well (not limp & soggy) mash, Yorkshire pudding, crispy stuffing ball not forgetting the gravy, so flavoursome! For £10 this was a great meal at a good price.
Couldn't fault it in any way. Hope it's as good on a return visit...
D. S.
Nice pub but drinks prices are one of the highest in the area.
D. H.
Friendly staff, lovely food and a big beer garden. Very dog friendly too!
R. R.
Great pub, made welcome by staff and regulars.Well worth the visit.
I. P.
Brilliant place best Sunday dinner I've had for a very long time
A. S.
Went to a party here. Fantastic place. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
A. A.
I cannot thank and praise the staff for the lovely birthday meal we had today for my 11 year old. They were very accommodating, friendly, attentive and made us feel so relaxed like we were enjoying our meal at home. There were 15 of us with many requests and changes of mind but the the staff remained professional and helpful. Our order was for 5 pizzas, all of which arrived hot, well presented and very tasty. This is our second family birthday gathering at The Embankment and we will certainly highly recommend and return.
N. G.
Great place to enjoy one of the many guest beers on offer before a match.
Staff are always friendly and reasonable priced ales.
G. G.
Lovely pub. Will definitely visit again.
A. B.
Very large public house, never ordered myself but food always looks fresh and well prepared.
M. W.
Great food, lovely staff. Smoking area is really nice too, plenty of cover and their outside heat lamps actually work too so you can stay nice and snuggly even in the winter months.
J. J.
Love this pub, went in for a few drinks after work's Xmas due. Always clean and also felt safe
C. K.
Excellent Toronto loaded fries, very similar to the Canadian poutine 😊
R. D.
My favourite place for pre-match drinks. Gets extremely busy and the staff handle it really well. Door staff are friendly and atmosphere is excellent. Can't wait to come here again soon as it's been a while (thanks Covid).
H. B.
Although the pub was clean and the staff friendly we thought that £3 for a small americano coffee was to much.
K. S.
Nice friendly pub, gets a bit busy on match days
G. B.
Just such a great spot, Nottingham is steeped in history and here your stood across from the infamous boatclub buildings...
D. J. L. w. J.
Great variety music. Luuurvely beer selection. Good vibes 🍻 .. Cosy lounge atmosphere..

Hired the conservatory for a family party. Lovely room. Great service.
G. C.

M. H.
Lovely food good portion size..Pizza was a fav..also the Pulled Pork dirty fries with coleslaw..nom nommm...and Staff on point!!👌
J. B.
Fab! Haven't been since 'lockdown', but it was worth the wait. Food was well cooked and hot. Able to sit inside comfortably. Felt 'Covid' safe. Will be going back.
M. B.
Excellant choice of craft/Belgian and local beers and ciders..interesting building.
However mainly use for breakfast and car parking for cricket.
Car park is now free provided sign in at pub which is excellant and breakfast for £9.00 very good and not greasey and coffee/tea included and bottomless
Staff always friendly and helpful.
At end of day have well stored pint before going home.
Back in morning for another breakfast and cricket.
Oh yes easy 10 minute walk to trent Bridge cricket ground.
G.
Excellent pub with excellent staff. We've held two wakes there and staff have been fab and extremely respectful. Also been there for drinks on different occasions and staff will go beyond to meet your needs. Beautiful inside too, great food. Great outdoor and inside seating. Over 18+ area for those who don't want to be seated with families.
b. o. t.
A great pub with plenty of space inside and out, friendly staff always willing to help you find your new favourite beer 🍻
A. H.
Really really good night. Live music was brilliant
A. B.
Such a great pub. Excellent range of cask and craft beers, lots of nooks and crannies to hide in. Very good food too. Popular on match days so watch out for that and if you park you need to log your reg at the tablet at the bar.
c. h.
Always like this pub especially in summer as it has an excellent beer garden.
G. J.
It was great but no sky tv now.
G. I.
Great Beers, great pub, but on match days, they really need to find a way of serving quicker, it's painful
C. M.
Had a lovely meal for my grandsons 18th
M. B.
First time I've been disappointed with the Sunday roast. Usually top quality food and among the best in Nottingham, but clearly they've reduced the quality and increased the price. They did throw a glass of wine in, but I'd have preferred a better quality meal. Low grade beef and watery 'gravy' as well as bland veg and tasteless mash. Shame, but I'm sure it'll get better again once more people are venturing out. I've always liked the place so here's hoping!
B. W.
A large pub, wide selection of excellent beer, whole some food and outstanding support for local musicians of all abilities.
K. S.
Venue was nice but drinks were expensive tbh
P. T. (.
Mango cider went down a treat, we will return!
N. G.
Good atmosphere, excellent food & beer. Staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating...thought covid procedures were very good. Would definitely come here again.
S. M.
We went here before the forest game around 13:00 until 14:45 as it's located opposite the city ground, really friendly environment, nice atmosphere and the door staff were friendly too. The place is clean and a good selection of Beers with fast service. The only down point was that there were several tables which had been reserved and left empty and there were a lot of people just stood around empty tables. Crazy being able to reserve tables at this time especially on match days. The place was packed and I had 2 young kids so we sat at one of these tables anyway as the locals said that most of the time people never show up. True to form no-one turned up. 5 star place and Would go here again but marked down for table reservation on match days.
G. L.
We booked our wedding at The Embankment in October 2019 after our first venue cancelled on us. The wedding coordinator, Shereen, was absolutely amazing. She made everything so easy for us and we couldn't have been happier. The day was perfect and everything about the venue was beautiful. Our guests loved it and the ballroom was a total surprise to them, not what you expect when you're downstairs in the pub! Thank you to everyone involved for making our day perfect!
H. v. W.
Too many choices on the menu! Everybody in our group had something different but everybody was pleased with their choice. Caesar salad looked amazing. We sat in the conservatory. It was a little cool in there. There was plenty of room for the baby in the pram.
J. S.
Friendly staff and great place to drink before a game, only downside is the toilets are not adequate for the customer base
t. m.
Quiet early doors visit, OK for a pint and read the paper. Busy later with football people no doubt. Big place, used to be a social club for the Boots company years ago. Unusual design with several rooms. Very suitable for "occasions", weddings and so on. Also perfect starting point for the local sports stuff if cricket and football.
G. L.
The Embankment is now my new favourite pub. Where do I start? Firstly it's a part of Nottingham history. Half of the building was one of the first dispensarys opened by Jesse Boot. The other half was a gentleman's club where Jesse Boot had his office. The office is still intact and forms part of a the upstairs function rooms (these do not form part of the public bar but are well worth a look if you get the chance.) It's run by the Castle Rock brewery and if you like the idea of choosing from lots of different real ales from a range of breweries before you even order then you will love the Embankment. The food is tasty and great value. I ordered a curry and a pint for £10 and I thoroughly enjoyed the taste as well as the price. I fancied a little something extra and, although it wasn't on the menu I was served a nice crumble. There is a dining area, and an outdoor area and three distinct rooms. The atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. They have board games available. This is the perfect place for a casual drink on a Friday night especially if you still want to talk to the people you're with.
S. B.
Used to be the old Jesse Boot social club, so has a lot of history behind it and can be seen in its tasteful restoration. We only went in to sample a few beers but I was impressed with what I saw. There is a good beer selection to choose from and their menu looks quite good.
I will certainly be visiting again and would recommend.
P. W.
Nice pub, had my birthday pint there recently. Staff OK backyard pleasant.
A. S.
Great beer, pleasant staff excellent food 👌 😋
T. C.
They have done a good job getting the pub open for COVID restrictions. They are following the rules well without the militant iron fist some pubs are adopting. Have managed walkins everytime.
A. F.
The pub itself is a typical "British" or "English" pub. Decent choice of beers on the tap; nice and clean interior; and plenty of tables, chairs and standing around area as well.
At certain times on certain days it becomes a football pub, with fans gathering for pre-match and post-game pints. It was a really nice surprise though to hear a 'proper bloke' ask on a summer Friday afternoon about the type of rose wines available to punters as he expressed a strong liking of the aforementioned fruit based drink. In other words, he was not your typical Carling drinking Forest fan.
G. L.
Excellent selection of well kept beers at a reasonable price. Staff seem efficient and friendly. It's a large pub, fine for football crowds but seems a bit cavernous and empty on quiet nights.Well furnished with a variety of seating and rooms available.
R. M.
Been here quite a few times excellent food
F.
Very nice! The bouncers were very kind, funny and not at all intimidating. The food was delicious, especially the pizza! They also serve lots of different drinks which again all are very nice.
M. C.
This is a fantastic, historic building that used to belong to Boots as was, at one time, its social club. Further reincarnations have seen it become the fantastic location it is now.
There is a good selection of beverages and the food is good if a little pricey for what it is.
It is certainly a place that I would heartily recommend!
M. R.
This pub is situated inside one of the original Boots Pharmacy buildings, it looks great lit up at night. Inside there are two very spacious rooms plus a restaurant. Very good food and a very large variety of drinks on offer. One to check out. M
V. N.
Cam here for a drink and salsa dancing event held in the downstairs function room. Place is big but inviting. Haven't tried the food to comment. I wasn't wowed but I had a nice time!
J. d. B.
The staff are top notch, friendly and helpful. Can't wait to actually go inside this lovely pub again!
K. S.
Always really friendly staff and people in the bar, it's beautiful in the summer with the beer garden. Nice selection of beer and food on the menus. Highly recommended this place if you're in the area! 🍻
P. B.
Booked upstairs venue for private party. Events and functions organiser, Debbie, was friendly, responsive, efficient and flexible about our food preferences and arrangements. Buffet (pizzas and salads) was excellent. Bar staff pleasant and helpful. Thoroughly recommend.
a. b.
My daughters wedding held here was amazing !!! Beautiful setting, wedding service and reception. The staff were wonderful, the food spot on. Shereen you are a 🌟 for organising everything so perfectly . Many many thanks xx
S. H.
Food was very tasty and plentiful, no one had room for pudding!!!There was a vegan option of cashew nut roast which was lovely. Others in my party had turkey and they had 3 large thick slices each. Pub managed to be both large and cosy at the same time. Dogs are welcome which is brilliant.
S. R.
Great pub , traditional with lots of great beers, it's also nice to sit in the outdoor area on these hot summer nights. The food is decent too which was a nice if unexpected bonus .
B. O.
Great atmosphere on a match day
J. B.
Quite like this place for a post work beer (of which it has a good section). Staff friendly and helpful. Has a beer garden. You can park next door, just make sure you register your vehicle at the bar.
M. T.
It had a nice selection of beers. Plenty of staff on, even though it was boxing day. Nice interior with a large beer garden (with shelter). Security were friendly on a match day.
J. W.
Great beer, great food, great staff, just all round great. There's tapas and craft beer deals on Monday. Buy one get one free on pizzas on Wednesday and a whole range of side dishes and main meals on the specials board.
c. b.
Good food good rum n coke and good service and very accepting of us Maidenhead fans 👌
L. F.
I love any pub that sells real ale and let's your dog in. This one is awesome. Friendly staff. Water and gravy bones for the dog. Highly recommend
D. H.
Great pub with quality selection of real ales and craft beer. Decent food. Staff are brilliant even on busy matchdays.
A. N.
Great local pub for groups and for a quiet drink with a newspaper. Been my local since it opened a couple years ago. Foods really tasty and they do a great deal of 2-4-1 pizza on a wednesday. Craft beer selection is probably the best in bridgford.
H. B.
Lovely pub. Have attended a couple of family events here. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The buffets were very good. Dietary requirements were well catered for.
R. W.
Foods really good with a great selection, however it's the drinks at the bar that ket this pub down..... A Pint of Heineken was really dead (flat) & was not replaced when complained about, just poured into a different glass but also my gfs glass of coke. Think they need to do a line clean.....
L. D.
One of the best sunday roasts EVER ! lovely fresh produce, verý tasty indeed.attentive and friendly staff .great selection of beers in a warm cozy environment. Will definitely be back to sample the other fabulous menu choices ...thankyou for a lovely dining experience to all at the EMBANKMENT 🍽🍻
D. C.
A really good kitchen with great, well-presented and tasty meals. Fab ales from local brewer Castle Rock and pleasant, efficient and friendly staff. A great local WELL worth a visit.
R. G. (. P.
It's always my favourite pub! I love mango cider! Salted caramel beer was good too ;) definitely I will go back very soon :)
M.
Love the pub, bar staff always friendly, excellent selection of ales and cider on tap. However, I think the food is over priced and not up to scratch.
J. L.
Lady Rose were awesome. The dancers made it even better and the beer n cider was fantastic. Coupled with great service, what more could you ask for?
B. M.
Victorian classic pub at the southern entry to Nottingham
It has had many different styles in its time but is now mostly American type food. The big plus is that it has its own brewery!!! All open and on display. 10 percent discount for camra members. Good beer !!
A. V.
Lovely pub full of history, good choice of beers and other drinks
R. M. U.
Very welcoming place, amazing venue rooms up stairs. Bit of Nottingham History
Jessie Boot
We are booking up for our sons conformation in June
Hopefully the sun is shining for a stroll along the embankment afterwards
J. M.
Possibly the best selection of ales in Nottingham, a huge array. Ample parking, and a very comfortable restaurant section offering great food. I had a steak sandwich that was superb, quality ingredients cooked well.
C. s.
Very reasonably priced. Portions were huge, think they'll make more money if they take a 1/3 of the plate away and I'm still be a decent size on my opinion ! Lovely building inside, lovely welcoming staff. Try it!
I. D.
Brilliant pub, and the atmosphere on match day's with forest supporters is brilliant 👍👍⚽️⚽️
M. M.
With the current regulations and on a bad rainy and windy day, it was nice to sit outside, they had heaters and the area was secluded from the big winds so we still enjoyed our food
M. S.
Friendly staff, observation of the covid distancing very good. Waitress service very good.
L. 5.
The best Sunday roast we've found anywhere yet! Home-cooked, fresh, hot, tasty food. Not an "Aunt Bessie's" item to be had! Gorgeous. The children's portions are huge!
H. H. E. C.
The beautifully restored old Boots Social Club has the most gorgeous windows upstairs to enhance your event. It's a lovely pub downstairs with friendly staff and a large restaurant area.
A. D.
Best Sunday dinner, ever! Dangerous that we live close by and will get addicted
G. C.
A nice airy former boots the chemist establishment now a Castle rock pub. Offering a wide range of real ales, craft ales, and ciders and Perry's. Including a good food menu
d. s.
Good range of beers. Service picked up as kick off approached. Handy stop off before going to watch the football.
Unfortunately I left my hat there when leaving. Hope it serves someone else well.
H. O.
Very pleasant in this warm weather, a little pricy for what is a basic real ale- Elsie Mo @ £3:90pt.

Service good, friendly and efficient. A well-kept establishment offering a full and varied range of drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Highly recommended.

Good pub with skittle alley and decent food. Make sure you register your car on the tablets at the bar, or your visit to the pub could be an expensive one.

A Great Castle Rock pub, sympathetically furnished encapturing the feel of the Old Boots Store. Cracking food n beer. A Great Pub for a pre or post pint football at Notts County or Nottingham Forest and cricket at Trent Bridge
G. M.
Wonderful atmosphere friendly staff. Good food. Good location, may struggle for parking because of it's popularity 🙋🏾♂️ x
A. W.
A huge castle rock pub, but divided into smaller areas so it doesn't have the feel of a drinking barn. Good selection of castle rock and guest ales.
J.
Lovely surroundings, friendly staff but, most importantly, a great range of beers that are very well kept!
L. H.
Nicely refurbished pub. Fantastic architecture and grade 2 listed building. Beers a little on the steep side but a really good variety
D. S.
