Lovely pub with great food, friendly staff and a wide selection of drinks. Has some of the best craft beer options outside of the city centre. Always a top selection of local ales too if craft isn't your thing. Dog friendly too!

Fantastic pub. The selection of local beers, ciders and wine is great. Went for a Sunday dinner and ended up having 6 pints of Lenton lane inhaler, which is absolutely delicious. The dinner was fantastic, they’d ran out of beef, so went for the veggie option instead which was suprisingly good, and they don’t skimp out on gravy. A really good price of £9.95 for a dinner. The rest of the menu looked really nice, lots of options for all diets. Really dog friendly pub with TVs, darts and a huge beer garden. There really is something for everyone at the lion.

Excellent pub with on street and in site parking huge outdoor at area that is well maintained. "Cheers style" bar, approachable from three sides with food service and helpful staff who seemed on this occasion to go out of their way to maximize customer satisfaction. There is a stage area with regular free live entertainment that features bands of really high caliber. The night we were there it was Miss Bowie and the New Killer Stars who's performance killed off any doubts about quality entertainment. Such a performance would have garnered the approval of the fiercest music critic. Would I return and expect the same experience? I feel confident that I would, as they eye to detail from clearing and sanitizing take turnaround to speed and accuracy of service does not happen by accident but it's the result of team focus and leadership. Making and maintaining a high standard as a matter of routine is the key to turning casual visitors into regulars and that translates into a talked about reputation. Well done staff and management. We look forward to future comparable experiences

The food is absolutely amazing, myself and 2 friends had burgers each and shared some of the pub tapas and honestly we all agreed that it was the best pub food we’ve ever had. This is fast becoming my favourite pub in Nottingham. It's such a great mix of vibes that it suits almost anyone. They have seating around the bar with wood burners for a warm, cosy, relaxed vibe or you can sit near the stage area for a more energetic party. The outside space is also really lovely. The food here is fantastic and fairly priced with an extensive drink selection and some wonderful real ales. More nights at the lion please!

Good pub with a nice bar atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and happy to help. Great selection of local and craft ales. Food is still nice however has declined in quality over the past few years and now with the limited portion sizes, it is not worth the price paid. If portions could be increased to their pre-covid levels then it would be well worth the price.

It has a very pretty outdoor area. The fellow patrons are very comfortable bringing dogs to the pub which is a huge plus for me. There's a public park within view of the beer garden so I imagine it could be a good venue to bring the family. The staff work with a kind of exuberant vigor that makes your feel like you're in good hands. They look like they enjoy their job. The only radically questionable thing is that the electric hand dryer is so close to an adjecnt urinal that you feel like the gust of air is affecting the stream of nearby gentlemen trying to relive themselves. Kinda funny but could be a recipie of a drunken yellow disater. Lads gotta step up their p*ss game. Minor gripes but the heating lamps in the beer garden aren't fully operational and the slant of the land in grassy part of the beer garden can feel disorienting. You can't really expect them to terraform then land though. The pricing is a solid middle-of-the-road. 2 decent drinks will cost you £9-11. Not wethersoons but not London. I'll definitely be coming back as my current Tinder-squeeze is partial to the pub quiz and the Gamma-ray that they have on tap. Xx

Always been a great pub with great staff. A home from home. Just sad that due to this awful time we live in we were given an outside table and told our order would be taken soon. We waited 20 minutes and just left. A girl with a large but lovely Dog pointed out a guy with a tablet and said we would be looked after soon. There were at least four tables whiteout drinks so we estimated an hour wait. We left. Priority seemed to be on the customers indoors. Appreciate you have loyal customers, but they seemed to be moving around freely without restrictions. We got told off, very loudly, that it was a one way system. Is it normal for your everyday customers to do this? And are you happy with that?

This is a great pub. If yer like jazz it's even better! Don't be put-off by its position , across the road from the old shipstons brewery. Inside its warm, welcoming and live jazz too. There seemed to be a lack of staff behind the bar initially, however this was rectified. The Sunday lunch was really good and very good value. We will be back!!

Really good pub this. It's a bit out of the way from the town centre but that means it benefits from a decent sized beer garden. One of the best real ale pubs I have been too such a selection of ales plus excellent food I had the king burger with added jalapeño peppers it was amazing just melted in my mouth. Definitely one to go back to need to try more of their ales and food oh and mustn't forget the great service from the friendly and polite staff. Well worth the five stars and more.

This is one of my favourite pubs. They usually have ten draught ales on at the weekend as well as many more draught and bottled craft beers. Although the draught real ale selection is often reduced a little during the week, there is still plenty of variety for any beer fan. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the beers and will offer a taster if necessary. There is an eclectic offering of live music every evening on weekends (Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights) and Jazz on Sunday lunchtime. The menu is as varied as the beer and music, and good too. I'd highly recommend this place

20 years man and boy I've been drinking in this pub and I feel confident in saying it's definitely one of the 5 best pubs in the city. I liked it when Tree ran the place but in all honesty the menu is far better now, yes it's mainly burgers but the range is pretty vast and they're super tasty (yes they're expensive compared to, say, McDonalds but actually very reasonable compared to other places offering a similar standard of product). There is always a large selection of real ales and ciders and increasingly an impressive range of both bottled and draught craft beers from around the world. Jazz on a Sunday is usually good and always popular ( standing room only most weeks) and while not all the bands are great there is live music every weekend. Friendly staff and locals, great atmosphere and the best beer garden in Nottingham. The only problem I have with this pub is that the fact it's less than 10 minutes walk from my house means I hardly ever go anywhere else!

One of the most excellent pubs in Nottingham for real ales - they generally have 12 or 13 on at any one time. Quite large, with an oval shape around a central bar, they also do decent food including a range of burgers and have regular live jazz, blues, folk and rock in the corner. In the depth of winter they get a huge fire going in the grate. On Wednesday evenings they put on a well-regarded quiz and hand out free food afterward. Not in the city centre but very near to the tram route, and has a decent parking lot.

Used to be great a place to go but since it's changed landlord the music and the atmosphere have gone down hill, Saturdays used to be rocking but the acts are now all cheap and old fashioned and only play very old rock music. Great to have a local pub that's committed to live music. Okay it's not in Nottingham's brightest area, but that means all the more credit for The Lion. I insist you go there right now.
