If your looking for a proper pub. Look no further. Excellent service, AMAZING food, great choice of drinks all served in a wonderful venue with crackling fire in the countryside. This is an amazing place
R.
Service was incredible and the location and cleanliness are great. However all though the food in the resteraunt area seems too expensive compared to that served in the bar. I appreciate that the resteraunt setting will incurs a higher price but the food seems just as good (if not better) in the bar area.

As always, the quality and charm of a bygone era. Attentive staff, delicious food, beautiful place. Great wine too.

We had a wonderful lunch in this quiet pub. The atmosphere was excellent, the beer very good and the food, perfect for a January day.

An amazing place with loads of nice things to eat and coffee of course xx staff are wonderful the place is always kept immaculate, highly recommend

Nice setting but excruciatingly expensive for standard pub grub.
Bloke on the bar was a bit sassy (it was 33C and maybe a little hot and bothered, but the best welcome)
£3.75 for soda and lime, £18 for a burger... Ouch 😳

Staff were superb and the pub is lovely. A very welcoming place.
We left underwhelmed by the food. The starters of Prawn Cocktail had plump prawns and were tastey.
The Partridge main course was overdone the pheasant was pleasant and I cleared the plate.
The Ricotta and rice pudding didn't hit the marks. The rice ball was deepfried and was stodgy and flavourless.
If fine dinning prices are being charged (£26.00 for a main) then the food has to be bang on and sadly in this case we felt there were too many errors.

Lovely old pub big garden with lot's of seating, high quality food, award winning pub

Love this place, always a warm welcome, cosy atmosphere, beautiful garden and yummy delicious food.

We visited here with friends who last came about ten years ago apparently the pub has not changed much.
The inside is traditional and very tasteful
Food was excellent and obviously cooked here.
There is also a good choice of real ale.
Staff were lovely, pleasant and helpful.
We shall definitely return, most likely in the autumn when the menu changes

A great British pub, with the local Colston Basset cheese featuring on the menu, and good ale behind the bar (Timothy Taylor's Landlord -Aug 2018). Expensive, but great food. Lovely village setting with parking and large beer garfen.

Amazing food and atmosphere. We hosted our daughter's Christening party at The Martin's Arms and it was excellent.

Wonderful pub located in the most beautiful place. We had an amazing meal in the garden. The staff were welcoming and incredibly nice. Make sure to spot the famous photograph in the toilet. And try the venison - it's delicious.
P. S.
Top quality country pub with food way above average.
K. B.
Excellent food, Excellent service, Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thank you

Very welcoming pub made out family group of 10 feel at home. Good service and reasonable prices. The only adverse comment we had was that bread for sandwiches was too thick. This seems to be a common trend.

My fish finger sandwich reheated!!!
Chewy on not so fresh bread!!!
Cod & chips fresh & looked appealing for my mother was good

Nice garden, cosy inside in winter especially at Christmas. Food is good but often a longer wait than I'd like

Lovely old pub, very nice staff, excellent grun. Pity it was so cold inside.

Great pub , fantastic food and cask beers with great service . What more could you want . Had a stop of lunch Saturday 26th with my wife and dog as doing a 10 Mile walk , fish finger sandwich was the best I have ever tasted . So sorry to the young lad who served us as I got my tip wrong and didn’t give allot but I will make it up to him next time , lovely land lady too who recommended the beer I had . We will definitely be back

Lovely setting and real charm. Really nice lunch, good service and friendly staff.

Just a beautiful pub. The real ale qualiity and food was outstanding. Staff were attentive and friendly. A great place to relax. Fantastic highly Recommended 😀❗😋

Absolutely amazing time - we came in to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had the BEST evening - it was a beautiful setting (gorgeous pub and the garden is huge), the team were all so welcoming, and the food was to die for. They went out of their way to make our evening special and we really appreciated it - we can't stop raving to all of our friends!

I just want to say that we had a great time and the food was divine. My husband, my son and I we've enjoyed your restaurant very much. Also your staff were so polite and friendly. Thank you and for sure we will be coming back again!!!!!

Absolutely stunning food, venison main course was really special. A beautiful traditional pub in a lovely setting, excellent attentive and thoughtful service. Can't recommend highly enough.

Just had a fantastic night at pub, drinks and dinner with friends. Staff were ace, venue is just what a proper pub should be and the food was perfect. So frustrating to have so many great looking dishes on the menu 😃. I had the game pie (couldn’t resist when I saw that) and it was beautiful. Stayed till 11pm which felt like we hadn’t been there long enough. Not local to us but we’ll worth making the trip for. Wonder if they are open for breakfast?!
B. F.
Possibly the best Sunday lunch I have ever had. The service, the surrounding, the food; all 5 star. Our first visit will not be our last.
W. F.
goldfish stopped swimming when we entered. lot of its customers very rude to the waitress' the customers had very nice cars but little manners, case of fur coat no knickers. girls deserve a medal putting up with them
P. B.
Lovely village pub. Bit out of the way but worth the drive. Had lunch in the beer garden, good range of the usual fare and excellent sandwich options. Try the Martins Arms ale to go with it. Looked like there was a proper dining area too if you want something fancier. The triple cooked truffle chips are phenomenal.
M. W.
A beautiful pub with a rich history and amazing food. I had the stilton burger which was divine and comes highly recommended.
R. L.
Reasonable selection of beers. Food seems to be a cut above but pricey. I suggest you ask to see the bar menu as well as the more expensive a la carte menu.
W.
Traditional pub atmosphere. Food was nicely presented but pricey. Staff friendly and helpful.
R. F.
This delightful pub is the most charming in the Vale of Belvoir.
Jack and Lynn have created an exceptionally friendly, efficient and delightful dining experience. The food is absolutely delicious. The service is perfect with just the right amount of attention. I highly recommend the venison when it is on the menu and the fillet steak is divine. They also have the best beer-battered fish and chips around.
This establishment is simply top notch and very deserving of Michelin recognition.
J. R.
Exemplary service, delicious food and a stunning setting. One of the best dining experiences I've had in many years. As an interior designer my only criticism is that the bar could perhaps use a little face lift to bring it up to the same standard as the dining rooms.
C. E.
Nicely prepared food but a three course meal took 2 and a half hours to be served. The main course was cold when it came out and at £38 per head for three courses I expected more. Expensive for what it is. 3 courses for lunch at neighbouring John's House which has a Michelin star is under £30.
M. N.
Great country pub. Lovely food and a good selection of drinks. Can't fault the service and warm welcome. Well worth a visit.
R. F.
Very old-style pub. Lovely staff. Really great food!
O. R.
Outstanding local village pub - lovely warm welcome from the landlord, bags of character & the food is absolutely delicious!
Would highly recommend and look forward to our next visit!

Situated in a picturesque English countryside site, lovely old cottage (if I got it right), is apleasure to drive and to spend a lovely afternoon or evening. It would be a five star, for the superb food, friendly and prompt service, only the Yorkshire pudding was half done, mushy really inside, and there was a significant delay in service towards the end, coffee and dessert (both tasted excellent and were properly served), came quite late and the same with the bill and the POS. Apart from that, we will visit again for the good quality food and ambience. Loved the atmospere. Good job!
l. p.
Delicious food and generous portions.

Pleased to find this delightful pub open for lunch on New Years Day. Gorgeous roaring fire, impeccable service and amazing food! Have added this pub to our 'will return' list! (Must add 'cheeky landlord' to the review ;-)
D. S.
A lovely place with a large scenic garden. The lady who served us could not have been more helpful.
S. H.
Amazing food and brilliant service. Loved it.
L. D.
Lovely pub but, for me, food somewhat overpriced. Disappointing that most of the mussels served with my dish were unopened and, I suggest, shouldn't have found their way onto anyone's plate. Nothing offered to compensate for this when mentioned.
J.
Lovely cosy village pub with a great garden for the summer months. The whitebait (on the bar starter menu) is the best I've ever had - plump, juicy, and an incredible 'fish n chip'-style batter.
L. H.
Beautiful old fashioned pub but with very up to date ideas for meals. Great atmosphere, outstanding food, pleasant staff, what more could you want?
K. S.
Best restaurant in Nottingham. Incredible dood. Lunch time is always bliss. Staff are so polite and caring, nothing is too much trouble. The owners are a delight. The food is nothing short of exceptional.
A. D.
Read a lot of reviews before visiting with friends (who had booked!) and felt a little apprehensive, particularly of comments Re: "owner" and "attitude thereof" .... However, the food was 'reasonable', no more and not at all outstanding, but the service was, well, 'O.K'. The prices, however, made ones hair curl, with a relatively simple chicken dish at £20.00 and steak at £29.00 to £32.00 a pop !!! Fish & "Thrice Cooked Chips", was a trifle greasy - where the "chips" are from I would be interested to know !
Overall, nothing at all inspiring and at near £200.00 for midweek lunch with four friends, for five starters, three fish & chips, one ploughman's and a potato cake.... no pud, four wines 1/2 lager & 4 coffee's, well, do your own sums ! ( No-one had a 'dear' meal ! ) Will be a long time before next visit, if ever !

I visited the Martin Arms for the first time last weekend for a reunion with friends. The pub is very impressive and the atmosphere was as good.
However the whole evening was spoilt by an incident where a full pint of lager was poured down my back and trousers. Although recognising the incident was an accident and the staff tried their best to dry me down, I still spent the whole of the evening, damp and uncomfortable.
The truly disappointing aspect of this incident was that there was no real effort to compensate me for the occurrence, which I thought probably naively, would be the least they would do...
Thankfully I enjoyed my reunion with our friends, but I didn't enjoy the experience of being wet all night and the damp 30 miles drive home!
